Today on Love Your Bodd we have an interview with Sara Alexander, a British-Sardinian actress & author. We talk about female sensuality, vulnerability, and our intellect versus our impulses when it comes to sex. We surround this conversation around the Off West End play in which Sara recently performed, called ‘Rejoicing at Her Wondrous Vulva the Young Woman Applauded Herself.’ (P.S. Sara has been nominated for an Offie (Off West End) award 2020 for her role!!)  We touch on so much more - working in an image based industry, how sex is so taboo to talk about and yet used to sell everything, and we get into a deep conversation about "self love" and why it can be a dangerous term to use.    FIND SARA  Instagram & Twitter: @sarajalexander Website: http://www.saraalexander.net/ Click here for Sara's new book: A Roman Rhapsody!     __________________________________________   JOIN THE GEEKNASIUM 5 DAY FREE CHALLENGE (JULY 1ST - 5TH 2019) : https://heather-boddy.com/geeknasiumworkout   __________________________________________   GO LIVE IT UP! Hello Lovers! Today on Love Your Bodd we are going to talk about why you are SO AFRAID to succeed! I'll give you some tools to BANISH your fears by using self-love, self-esteem, self-worth, and compassion.    First things first, I talk a lot about where you get your validation. In this episode I only speak about people we get validation from in the form of direct relationships but I wanted to make a note that you might also seek validation through things like the scale, social media, and other external forces. The tools I give you in this episode can also help you get rid of the need to seek validation from those other external forces as well.    Link to youtube video about Emotional Intelligence: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjFMCBSRzdw   Link to CALM app: https://www.calm.com/   Get on the waitlist for Heather's Nerdy Workout Program GEEKNASIUM here: https://heather-boddy.com/geeknasiumworkout   __________________________________________   GO LIVE IT UP! Hey Loves! Today I had Heather on the show (aka @loveyourbodd) who runs her own podcast all about diversity, feeling good in your body, & more called Love Your Bodd. She grew up doing theater most of her life, but when she graduated college....the industry didn't think she really fit any particular role. She even had a casting director tell her she's never seen someone like Heather casted. OUCH... Heather is such a strong and beautiful soul for not letting this knock her down forever. She found her inner strength and by some synchronicities ended up becoming a group fitness instructor which she incorporates body positive ideals into. Her story is really interesting and inspiring. Hello, Lovers! Today on Love Your Bodd we have an interview with Sara Grey! She's the founder and CEO of WANNABE™, host of Power the Hustle Podcast, and she does so much more.    We discuss SO MUCH in this episode including Sara growing up an athlete and her different insecurities growing up. We also discuss her TRIUMPHS and how she was a struggling single mom with a newborn who got to law school and became a lawyer. We talk about her decision to ADD to her career and start her own business: WANNABE™. We also talk about what that decision was like for her and how messy it is and I LOVE everything she says when she talks about making it all WORK. We also talk about FEAR and how fear sometimes makes decisions for us but she gives some great advice about not letting fear decide. And then, one of my favorite things we talk about in this episode, we talk about how the fitness industry is an industry of insecurity and we have a really fascinating discussion on how to bridge the gap between shaming people's bodies because they look a certain way and shaming a person because they want to change their body.  All this AND MORE, in this inspiring interview with Sara Grey!      FIND SARA We Are WANNABE - wearewannabe.com Instagram: @WeAreWannabe // @powerthehustle FB: facebook.com/realwannabe Power The Hustle   Love Your Bodd Stuffz   Email LYB: loveyourboddcast@gmail.com   Tweet: @LoveYourBodd   Instagram: @love_your_bodd   Facebook: Love Your Bodd   Find Heather @HeatherBoddy on Snapchat, Twitter & Instagram www.heather-boddy.com/loveyourbodd   GET HELP: Love Your Bodd is a proud supporter of the Born This Way Foundation - check out their resources page to get help for whatever issue you might be facing -  https://bornthisway.foundation/get-help-now/   Wanna become a Pop Pilates Instructor? She's been a personal trainer for 11 years but it hasn't always been so "body positive."  Jenna has a unique story of gaining weight to improve her health - both mentally and physically. As a personal trainer, she felt she needed to maintain a certain look: flat stomach, no body fat, size zero. Luckily, her discovery of Body Positivity opened up her eyes to a whole new world and way of living. She went from a size zero, miserable, living off supplements with no energy to a size 14/16, intuitively eating and moving, improved energy, and happily/healthily enjoying life.  Let's listen to and explore her story together.  Here is a call to action to all fitness professionals: WHERE are my true Body Positive fitness pros at?! Hello there, Lovers! This new episode of Love Your Bodd is focused on helping you get over those feelings of being overwhelmed. In life, in your job, in your relationship ... whatever it is you are going through, you can get through it! Here are the tips: Brain Dump! Get your thoughts out of your head and onto paper - dump it out! Then organize it, prioritize it, and schedule it!  Take a deep breath, focus on breathing and being in the moment.  Delegate what you can. Outsource.  Get an accountability buddy!  TAKE ACTION!  LET GO OF PERFECTION. Failure is always an option. Not that you should focus on failure - please don't focus on failure - just know that it's always a possibility. You can set yourself up for success, but you can never be prepared for every bad thing that could happen.    Love Your Bodd Stuffz Email LYB: loveyourboddcast@gmail.com  Tweet: @LoveYourBodd Instagram: @love_your_bodd Facebook: Love Your Bodd   Find Heather @HeatherBoddy on Snapchat, Twitter & Instagram www.heather-boddy.com/loveyourbodd   Get Resources: Love Your Bodd is a proud supporter of the Born This Way Foundation - check out their resources page to get help for whatever issue you might be facing -  https://bornthisway.foundation/get-help-now/   Wanna become a Pop Pilates Instructor? Goal Weight. Let's talk about it. Pretty much everyone has one. That number in the back of your mind that you strive for every day. That number that you pray is on the scale every time you step on. Hoping each time to be closer. Maybe you are at your goal weight! Wow! Congratulations, you are one of the few! What would happen though, if you stepped on the scale and you weren't anymore?  In today's episode of Love Your Bodd, Heather explains why having a goal weight is actually depleting your happiness instead of giving you something motivational to work on. By the end of the episode, you will learn different ways to frame your health goals so that you aren't focused on the number on the scale.  Setpoint/Appestat:  The weight you maintain when you listen and respond to your body's signals of hunger and fullness. The weight you maintain when you don't fixate on your weight or food habits. The weight you keep returning to between diets. (from Health at Every Size by Linda Bacon) 4 Ways Your Goal Weight is "Weighing You Down":  Your weight is not an accurate measure of your physical health OR progress.  You cannot physically measure blood pressure, cholesterol, heart disease, any of the internal factors that are said to be caused by being "overweight" by stepping on a scale.  Muscle weighs more than fat! Image 1 -  Image 2 - real fat vs real muscle  Gives You A Negative Relationship with your body.  Leads to regulation, guilt, binging eat less, exercise more - no longer enjoy food or exercise calorie restriction/meticulous calculation Negatively Affects on your Mental Health Negatively Affects your Happiness & Lifestyle Choices    What can we do to Change this?! Make Motivationally Framed Goals that are NOT related to a number.  Productive, Positive, & Present!  "I am, I have, I will..."    Love Your Bodd Stuffz   Email LYB: loveyourboddcast@gmail.com   Tweet: @LoveYourBodd   Instagram: @love_your_bodd   Facebook: Love Your Bodd     Find Heather @HeatherBoddy on Snapchat, Twitter & Instagram www.heather-boddy.com/loveyourbodd   Thank you again to Chalene Johnson and her lessons in the 131 Method, which give me confidence daily when it comes to food freedom, confidence, and motivating self talk surrounding food. "Change your thoughts and you can change your world." - Norman Vincent Peale  "We are not disturbed by things, but rather the view we take of them." - Epiuctetus  "There is nothing good or bad, but thinking makes it so." - Shakespeare What is the voice inside your head saying to you? Is it negative? If so, that's totally normal. Is it positive? That's normal, too!  On today's Love Your Bodd episode, Heather sits down with you solo to teach you about self-talk and the labels we place on the events that happen in our lives.  Self Talk Lesson this Episode: Self-talk: The action or practice of talking to oneself, either externally (aloud) or internally (mentally).  Self-Talk is how people evaluate and respond to events in their lives. It is typical for most people to feel some things are good (staying on a meal plan, adhering to an exercise program, winning a league championship), while others things are viewed as bad (going off a meal plan, stopping an exercise regimen, losing a league championship game). But in reality, events are simply events. It is the evaluation of events that make them positive or negative, and this in turn determines one’s emotional, mental, and physical responses to the events. In fact, sometimes things that were initially evaluated as bad eventually turned out to be good. Types of Self Talk: Motivational self-talk: The act of practicing self-talk in a positive manner, focusing on increasing energy, effort, and positive attitude. Instructional self-talk: The act of practicing self-talk in which an individual focuses on the technical or taskrelated aspects of performance in order to improve execution. Negative self-talk: The act of practicing self-talk in a negative manner focusing on critical and self-demeaning statements that negatively affects goal attainment. Ways to Focus on Motivational Self-Talk Take away the labels. There is no "good" or "bad" or "positive" or "negative."  Practice Gratitude. Create Confidence / Gain knowledge.  Practice Mantras! "Keep your phrases short and specific, use the first person and present tense, construct positive phrases, say your phrases with meaning and attention, speak kindly to yourself, repeat phrases often." (- From AFAA Mental Toughness textbook, Ch. 1) Create Routines & Systems to create control & help with decision making.  (P.S. Here's the Obama article about his routine - https://www.theguardian.com/world/shortcuts/2012/sep/17/barack-obama-secret-weapon-routine) I'd like to give credit in this episode to AFAA & the Mental Toughness course I am currently completing, which inspired me to share the self-talk info.  I would also like to credit Chalene Johnson and her lessons in the 131 Method, which give me confidence daily when it comes to food freedom, confidence, and motivating self talk surrounding food. This week on Love Your Bodd, Heather sits down with the Founder of the online publication "Girls in Capes," along with several ladies of the writing team, to talk about representation in geek culture!  In Part I of this 2 part interview, we discuss "Girls in Capes" and why is it so important today. We also talk about how media influences us from a young age and how that carries over into our adult life/personality. The goal of the discussion is to take a closer look at the way we consume media compared to ways we can support works that are more inclusive. Part 2 takes it much deeper with discussions on problematic favorites and what makes them so "problematic." Yay Lovers!!! Welcome back to Love Your Bodd! I hope you will take some time to LOVE YOURSELF this Valentine's Day!  Here are 14 ways to take care of yourself - according to Host, Heather Boddy:    1. Listen to a podcast! Hey! Good job you’re doing that!      2. Sit still and take 3 deep breaths, totally filling up the lungs, in thru the nose out through the mouth. Add a layer and try practicing meditation. There are apps and audios for guided meditation if you feel like you need clarity on something specific and don’t know where to begin. (Try Headspace)      3. Get Fresh AIR! Outside. Walk, run, open the window.      4. Take a a hot bath - and salts, scents, candles and music to set the mood.      5. Read a good book, either something you’ve been meaning to pick up or go back to a favorite that will bring you some comfort. (You can also do this with a movie or TV show but there’s just something about snuggling up with a good book ya know?)      6. Listen to your favorite song. Or a pump you up Playlist. Really JAM to it!!!!      7.  Brain dump journal entry.     8. Call someone you care about, catch up, tell them how much they mean to you.      9. Meet one on one with a friend. Grab coffee, food, or hang at home. People who keep close relationships live longer!      10.  Look in the mirror and give yourself a genuine compliment (or three)     11.  Do something difficult that you’ve been putting off.     12. Date/Treat Yo Self!     13. Get creative! Expressing yourself creatively is very therapeutic.      14. Write out what self care looks like for you specifically. Do you struggle with finding things to be thankful for? This time of year can be hard for many and with the pressure of Thanksgiving and announcing things you are "thankful for" in front of friends and family can be overwhelming.  It is so important to practice gratitude more than once a year. Why do we save all of our "thanks" for a Holiday that - if we are going to get political - probably shouldn't even exist? It's nice that it brings family together. It's nice that it forces us to think of the things we are thankful for. But in all seriousness, we should be doing this every single day.  In this episode, Heather guides you through how to find gratitude in every day of your life. You'll hear from previous Love Your Bodd guests on: 1) how they practice gratitude daily 2) how practicing gratitude has changed their life 3) experiences they've had that seemed negative at first but that they are now thankful for and 4) ways they are grateful for their bodies and what they are capable of!  Guided Meditation Apps:   Calm Simple Habit Meditation Headspace   Guided Gratitude Journals/books:   5 min Journal Fitspiration Journal Miracle Morning   THANKFUL 30 CHALLENGE Use #Thankful30 or #LYBThankful30 for 30 days of gratitude. Cosplay shouldn't have to be about your gender, your race, or your size. It's important to be respectful when it comes to the culture of the characters you are cosplaying. In this interview, Cosplayer Patrick Diamond speaks on how he chooses his cosplays, and how his physicality (race, size, ability) either does or does not play a role in those decisions.    "I haven't done Daredevil yet. I haven't done anything related to Spider Man ... It's just the characters themselves. They are so acrabatic in their poses and whatnot, I wanna be able to do that while I'm [cosplaying them]. When I pose, I like to evoke the character for a picture."  As a writer, he talks bridging the gap between "representation" of underrepresented characters while also maintaining a sense of realism. Not making characters a certain ethnicity, gender, or size for the sake of it but having a character-driven-rooted reason as to WHY. Which is so important.  It's lighthearted and profound and you'll enjoy it! IT'S THE SPECIAL NEW YORK COMIC CON EPISODE OF LOVE YOUR BODD!    Heather walked around Comic Con and found people of all sizes, genders, sexualities, and walks of life to interview for this episode. She also recorded some questions at NYCC Panels that she thought listeners may enjoy or need to hear.  You'll hear from people about their comfort in cosplay, what it means to them, and how it shapes them as a person. Check out Love Your Bodd's Instagram account (@love_your_bodd) to put faces with some of the interviews.  Sexy Cosplay Panel. 30 min mark. Answers to Heather’s question: “I was wondering if you have any comment on putting the costume on and how that makes you feel but also, specifically, about body positivity - is there more room for body positivity in this realm than anywhere else right now?”   “I don’t mean to say that I hate myself but when I look at myself in the mirror when I’m not in costume, I don’t want to look at myself. But when I’m in a costume I’m like DAMN GIRL YOU FINE!” - Microkitty   “I feel super empowered in it [cosplay] but I do think the cosplay community has room to grow in certain areas. I think that we need to work on being more accepting of cosplayers of different sizes of different races … being more aware of different gender identities in general when talking with cosplayers. But I do think it’s a really healthy community and I believe that it can grow to be more accepting.” - Juniper Jackson   “In the Cosplay community people are very positive and uplifting but unfortunately there’s some people who feel that you have to look a certain way to cosplay. Like you have to be a certain size or race to cosplay a certain character and that is BULLSHIT. ‘Cause Cosplay is for everyone no matter what. I feel like we need to work a lot more on that. Because of that, there are people who want to cosplay but they see all this and they are very hesitant. We need to really fix that so that more people can join in. Cause you know, this is a very uplifting community, it really helped me a lot. I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t cosplay. So we need to work on being more accepting of everybody no matter what size they are, identity, or their race.” - Stardust Megu   “As a plus sized cosplayer, starting out I was very very insecure about the way things came out like certain photos, things like that. I actually did a photoshoot as Aquaman from injustice and pretty much didn’t share the photos until like a year later. Until, ya know, I was way more comfortable a year later and I was like ‘Why didn’t I share these? These look dope!’ Like, why are these not yet on social media? And putting them out there, I felt great!” - Patrick Diamond   Talking Comfort and Emotional Support   “There were two Spider-Men doing flips and the guy standing next to us was like, ‘Agh, man I love seeing that. I hate seeing fat dudes try and do the same thing.’ And my friend turned to me and he was like, ‘Hey Pat, you want me to like say somthin to these dudes?’ and I’m like, ‘Calm down. Thank you.’ So yeah, having an emotional support system [when dressed in cosplay] is amazing.” - Patrick Diamond   “I think another important thing to note is that when you’re in a sexy cosplay, you don’t have to post photos of it. You don’t have to walk outside in it. If you have a photoshoot, it doesn’t ever have to see the light of day. It can be for you. It doesn’t have to be for the world.” - Microkitty   “As a New York local I will reiterate changing at the con. I have leggings and a t-shirt in my bag and I will put that on before I walk out into the streets of Manhattan again. In an ideal world I would not be harassed based on wearing something that’s a little more revealing but it certainly does make things worse in the current state of things. So I will prepare for that and bring an extra outfit, arrive, change at the con, and then change again before I leave.” - Juniper   What was the first cosplay you put on and how did it make you feel?   “My first cosplay was Sonia from the Dresden Files and it felt great and one of the best comments I got sticks with me to this day. When I posted it in a fan group for the books someone said they now see ME whenever they’re reading the novels. That really felt great.” - Patrick   “My first one was Haruhi from Ouran High School Host Club, which really foreshadowed my entire gender journey.” - Juniper Jackson   “My first cosplay was Haruhi Suzumiya from the Anime The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. And I first wore it at New York Comic Con 2010, which was my very first convention as well. I felt really great about it. And my cosplay wasn’t perfect but people were very supportive and some people like, we even did the dance together. I don’t know if you guys know but the ending song, there’s like a dance that’s called ‘Hare Hare Yukai’ - it was really popular back in the day.” - Stardust Megu   “It’s really sad this is my first one cause my third cosplay was the most empowering one for me. But my first cosplay was Elwood Blues from the Blues Brothers. The thing about it was, me and my buddy, we can both sing and dance, so we would do the whole skit. We did Shake Your Tailfeather and I would serenade people… it was a lot of fun. So while I didn’t necessarily feel like I do when I’m Bushido Brown or Slenderman - I dunno how you feel about that - it made me feel like, you know, I’m dancing, I’m singing, I’m having a good time, my cosplay’s kickass, I learned how to freestyle rap. These were all things I never thought I would do before in public. So it felt really great.” - Jarvis White    Problematic Faves Panel   “People have to think about that [creating plus characters]. I’m working on the third of the vampire novels and I had a character in the 1941 section, who was part of the supernatural organization, and she’s at a dinner party at Carrie Grant’s. And I started writing her and she was like this very standardized skinny, intellectual, science-supernatural science woman and I was like, ‘I don’t like that.’ I pictured a friend of mine who is a full-sized woman, who is very confident in her body, and I was like, ‘that’s who I want her to be!’ And it wasn’t that it did anything other than just made her not a standardized character. It made her more interesting suddenly, there was a whole range of other behavior, there was a relationship, something became much more sensual to me in my head, and I think that as writers, we need to be very deliberate about that. The default is to the standard medium-sized body, average height person and unless there’s a reason for that to be different, you don’t think about that. I think we just need to start making people different. Write down that they’re black. Write down that they are different races and colors and body shapes because that’s the only way anyone is gonna get that stuff into the movies. Put it in the books and keep pushing it out there.” - Terrance Taylor   “Why can’t she be Rae in My Mad Fat Diary AND Rey in Star Wars? She should be able to be both of those things.” - Mark Oshiro   HUGE SHOUT OUT AND THANK YOU to everyone who participated and allowed me to interview them. I couldn't do this without these amazing individuals. To anyone at NYCC who I didn't get to - shout  out to you as well. The cosplay community may have room to grow, but I think it's one of the most positive communities out there right now.    Love Your Bodd Stuffz   Website: www.heather-boddy.com/loveyourbodd   Email LYB: loveyourboddcast@gmail.com   Tweet: @LoveYourBodd   Instagram: @love_your_bodd   Facebook: Love Your Bodd   Find Heather @HeatherBoddy on Snapchat, Twitter & Instagram    Wanna become a Pop Pilates Instructor? It shouldn't take a costume or a mask to make you feel like you are worth something. But if putting that costume on gives you confidence you never had before, by all means, DO IT! Because of this confidence, combined with his natural curiosity, Ethan developed a business mindset that helped him launch his acting career and keep it fueled for over 14 years. This also lead to a successful coaching and directing career.  However, because Ethan is a human, he's not *always* confident. There have been times in his life and career where he hasn't felt 'in control' of his body.  “It really is that little difference - a pound or two here and there can make my pants feel different and that makes me not want to go into an audition room. At all. Or it makes me not want to stand up in front of a room full of actors and direct them because I don’t feel like I have any control over myself, how am I gonna have control over them?” But once he gets back to his routine and starts feeling like himself again, he's able to feel in control again and do what he truly loves: give himself to others in his own controlled and confident way.    Find Out Of The Box Theatrics Twitter: @OOTBTheatrics Instagram: @ootbtheatrics Facebook: Out of the Box Theatrics Check out www.ootbtheatrics.com to see what's coming up & sign up for the mailing list!    Find Ethan Website: www.ethanpaulini.com Twitter: @EthanPaulini   Instagram: @emp413   FB: www.facebook.com/ethancoaches   Love Your Bodd Stuffz   Website: www.heather-boddy.com/loveyourbodd   Email LYB: loveyourboddcast@gmail.com   Tweet: @LoveYourBodd   Instagram: @love_your_bodd   Facebook: Love Your Bodd   Find Heather @HeatherBoddy on Snapchat, Twitter & Instagram   CLICK HERE TO DONATE TO THE HABITAT FOR HUMANITY DISASTER RESPONSE FUND!!!  https://www.habitat.org/impact/our-work/disaster-response   Birthday Donations open until Oct 30: https://www.facebook.com/donate/1973639599557178/10212975841823314/     Wanna become a Pop Pilates Instructor? This week's guest, Liz Flemming, is not afraid to let go of something if it is no longer serving her. Not to say that letting go is easy. She was severely bullied in school as a young girl so she left and was homeschooled. She became an actress and theater became a huge release for how she was treated as a child. Acting served her for a while but once she lost her joy there, she re-evaluated herself and wasn't afraid to take a big leap of faith in herself by starting her own theatre company. A company that focuses on inclusiveness, diversity, and making theatre more handicap accessible.  Her journey is one of resilience filled with ups and downs. Being bullied caused her to emotionally turn to food. Then she became a diet-er and used her need for control to become underweight. She hit rock bottom and decided to focus on health above all else. One thing we talk about a lot is how women are always complimented on looking "thin." What is so great about being thin? Why are women automatically congratulated for "thin-ness?"  We talk about all of this and so much more. “You’ll be surprised at how much your body can overcome… Physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually - you got this!” - Moe F.  This week's guest was visiting NYC from Qatar! He and Heather met in college and formed what we can definitely call a lifelong bond. As one of the smartest people she knows, Heather was astonished to find that Moe was bullied for being "stupid" when he was growing up. In some ways it pushed Moe to be the eloquent creative he is today but it also caused him depression, weight gain, and a loss of identity.  If Moe didn’t come to the US he may have never addressed his depression. He was able to fully express himself in America in a way he felt would have him "shamed" at home. Now he is slowly working on bridging the gap between his two “identities” but there are still parts of himself that he chooses to keep private - which is obviously understandable. The first half of the interview is definitely more functional: his education, why he came to the states, why he chose Ohio, etc. The second half gets a lot more personal: we dive into one of his greatest accomplishments and how it made him feel about himself before digging SUPER deep into his past. So stick around for the deep body image stuff, it’s there!    Find Moe Twitter: @MoeFakhro  Instagram: @moefakhro_ Blog: moefakhro.tumblr.com   Love Your Bodd Stuffz   Email LYB: loveyourboddcast@gmail.com   Tweet: @LoveYourBodd   Instagram: @love_your_bodd   Facebook: Love Your Bodd   Find Heather @HeatherBoddy on Snapchat, Twitter & Instagram   Wanna become a Pop Pilates Instructor? I am amazed by the Positivity in this weeks guest.  Could you imagine being 13, going into an audition for a BIG MOVIE, and when you look at the sides for the audition it says "Obese Child" ??? Lys started acting when she was 5 and she goes to explain how being a child actor affected her self esteem. She wasn't made fun of in school, she always surrounded herself with positive people, but the industry didn't lend a helping hand when it came to her positive attitude.  Fast forward to 20 years later, she's living in NYC, auditioning like crazy, and playing the negative comparison game. It just wasn't worth it and it was time for a career change. Of course, she's never going to give up on acting and she still exercises her creative muscles as a teacher in the classroom (yes, she even dresses up like a minion sometimes) and as a director (most recently she got engaged on the closing night of her production of Annie! Congratulations, Lys!).  In this episode Lys explains to us how becoming a teacher has changed the way she thinks about her body. She wants to be that positive role model for her girls to come to if they are ever feeling self-conscious. She wants to make sure they never hear her say she's "on a diet" but also isn't afraid to politely decline the student-made cupcakes.  Hear more about her journey from child actor to a positive role model for young women today!    Find Lys  Instagram: @inlystagram Twitter: @lystweetstoo   Love Your Bodd Stuffz Email LYB: loveyourboddcast@gmail.com Tweet: @LoveYourBodd Instagram: @love_your_bodd Facebook: Love Your Bodd Find Heather @HeatherBoddy on Snapchat, Twitter & Instagram   Wanna become a Pop Pilates Instructor? "It is not death that a man should fear but he should fear never beginning to live" - Marcus Aurelius      This week's Love Your Bodd guest experienced most of her life not TRULY living. She did everything right. She was going through her checklist of life and she went to college, she got herself the perfect job, next on the list was to find a husband… luckily she was also able to do that! However, she's had to learn to let go of the next step in the progression of life....  1 in every 8 women have trouble getting pregnant or sustaining a pregnancy. That's 12% of women. That's a lot of women. (Resources Below) Katie reached out to me about her infertility and pregnancy loss because she wants other women to know that they are not alone. She has a story to tell and she's got some great advice for other women who may be struggling as well.    Her story is unique though because unfortunately as a child, Katie was bullied about her weight which became a massive factor in her every day life. A life-long struggle. When she found out she was having trouble getting pregnant, she blamed it on the weight. She had a hard time connecting to her body. She slipped into massive depression.    To hear how Katie got out of it, how she is truly LIVING LIFE NOW, listen to her story today!! I'm so proud of her vulnerability, her willingness to share something so intimate with my listeners. I know you'll love her for it as well!    From the National Center for Health Statistics: Percent of women aged 15-44 with impaired fecundity: 12.1% Percent of married women aged 15-44 that are infertile: 6.7% Number of women aged 15-44 who have ever used infertility services: 7.3 million Percent of women aged 15-44 who have ever used infertility services:  12.0%   Reproductive Health Resources from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention: https://www.cdc.gov/reproductivehealth/index.html     Resolve.com - facts about infertility - http://www.resolve.org/about/fast-facts-about-fertility.html      LINK TO KATIE'S INFERTILITY AWARENESS SEMINAR: https://www.facebook.com/events/1954043371521575/?ti=cl&__mref=mb   Katie on Instagram:  @katie.happyliving   Love Your Bodd Stuffz Email LYB: loveyourboddcast@gmail.com Tweet: @LoveYourBodd Instagram: @love_your_bodd Facebook: Love Your Bodd Find Heather @HeatherBoddy on Snapchat, Twitter & Instagram   Wanna become a Pop Pilates Instructor? "Freakin' push yourself, work hard, and dream big 'cause your potential is limitless and anything is possible," - Rachel Ngom, this week's brilliant Love Your Bodd guest.      This week, Heather remotely interviewed a former collegiate athlete who has been through many ups and downs with her body. She's tall, which has its own pros and cons. It came in handy when she played volleyball - her team won the junior olympics her senior year of high school! - but her height always left her insecure. She's had rib injuries, adrenal fatigue, and lost muscle mass but Rachel has never given up. Over time, she came to realize that fitness and her health is a journey. As long as she is consistent and persistent, she can do anything! She preaches balance and has given up on the "all or nothing" mentality because it really doesn't help in the end.    Rachel wrote a cookbook! Have you ever struggled with identity? Who you are at your core? It's a common process we go through growing up - figuring out who you are. Sometimes it's circumstance, culture, or something beyond our control that shapes us. Sometimes we try very hard to shape ourselves. Like Shelby says in this episode, "it's a constant journey"... only she playfully likes to put her journey on her head - with hair color!  In this week's interview, Heather chats with a long time friend - who is now a cosmetologist - about her identity. Shelby and Heather get into some pretty touchy subjects: depression, anxiety, police brutality, and loneliness just to name a few. In this episode, Shelby opens up about how being in the arts was always a safe space for her. One of the major ways she grew confidence was through her singing and her skill development in coloring hair.    Find out more about the Jared Lorenzen Project here: http://kentucky.247sports.com/Bolt/Jared-Lorenzen-Project-will-document-QBs-weight-loss-journey-105675110     In Brian's LYB Episode, he brought up the Born This Way Foundation  They have an entire resources page that connects you with resources for whatever issue you're facing here is the resource page: https://bornthisway.foundation/get-help-now   Pravana Hair Colors:  http://www.pravana.com/category/hair-color   Shelby's Recommended Mental Health Resources:  http://www.webmd.com/bipolar-disorder/guide/bipolar-disorder-resources-1 https://www.nami.org/Learn-More/Mental-Health-Conditions/Bipolar-Disorder/Support   http://bipolarchild.com/resources/online-resources/     As always, feel free to contact Love Your Bodd  Love Your Bodd Stuffz Email LYB: loveyourboddcast@gmail.com Tweet: @LoveYourBodd Instagram: @love_your_bodd Facebook: Love Your Bodd Find Heather @HeatherBoddy on Snapchat, Twitter & Instagram

Our past can have a large impact on our future. Things that happened when we were young can have a huge effect on how we behave in our adult lives. What you've been through does not define you. It shouldn't hold you back. It's sad and hard but things happen to us that are out of our control. What we can control is how we react to it and let it mold us. Alex's advice? GET THE HECK OVER IT!!! And she's NOT talking "put on your big girl pants and get over it" - she's talking "address the issue head on and don't let it fester." Hence the title of the episode.  The more we sweep our problems under the rug, the more it will take to get over once it comes to the surface. And it WILL come to the surface. Pretending you don't have problems doesn't make them go away.  In this episode, Alex and Heather talk very intimately about a lot of touchy subjects: what it's like growing up with messed up parents, what it's like to have an eating disorder, what it's like to be a survivor of sexual assault, how to deal with, get over, and talk about those issues. And that's the most important thing: talking about it. Start with someone you trust. Sabrina opens up about her weight fluctuation, depression, and turning to food for comfort. Food is still a struggle for her but that doesn't mean she's not healthy!  Another important topic Sabrina opens up about is how you can become obsessed with "being healthy." Working out TOO MUCH. Eating the same strict meals day in and day out. She encourages people to shop around and find what works for them and to make it FUN and not a chore. Rise Up in Love Part I is hosted by Ebony Short (from the "You Can't Please Everyone" and Gal Gang episodes) and she does a fantastic job carrying out the Love Your Bodd mission. She is great at digging deeper as well as celebrating and soaking in all the information these beautiful people have to offer. Plus, it's fun to mix things up!  In this episode you'll hear about why these couples were so interested in participating in the project. Our featured interview is with the very lovely and eloquent man who talks about loving and taking care of himself so that he can be on this planet and love his partner a little longer. He also talks to us about relationships both with food AND with humans. There are many analogies that are exchanged based on food and people. And how he LOVES that moment when people settle in and realize he isn't going to ruin their night. Can you imagine?  This episode is less about body image and WAY more about racism, sexism, stereotypes, and overcoming your situation. Rodney isn't shy. He talks baby mama drama, life regrets, and even jail time. He opens up about trying to gain self control and get back on track playing basketball, get custody of his daughter, and cutting the people who use him out of his life. He's torn between the "street world" and his world of "corporate success" and he shares all of it with YOU!  Rodney's Photography Instagram: @icdifferent_ Love Your Bodd Stuffz:Email LYB: loveyourboddcast@gmail.com Tweet: @LoveYourBoddInstagram: @love_your_boddFacebook: Love Your Bodd Find Heather @HeatherBoddy on twitter, Instagram, & Snapchat. See that title? Be more than a collection of status indicators! That is how this fantastic man, Raja Burrows, talks! In this episode of Love Your Bodd, Heather chats with this intelligent, recently WOKE man about his many recent discoveries based on identity and his status as a man of color in the United States. He inversely also acknowledges his privilege as a male being raised by a white family. It's a fascinating episode discussing both race and fitness as a status symbol and how "The System" aka "Society" rewards you for fitting into what is "ideal." Unlike any episode Heather has done so far, Raja brings an intellectual breakdown of how our identities are affected by society as a whole. Hi-dee-hey, do we have a special episode this week. It's the first ladies of Love Your Bodd all together in ONE ROOM! Heather calls them the "Gal Gang" because she likes alliteration and wants to showcase how badass these chicks are. In this interview Heather chats with the 4 beautiful women whose voices you have already heard: Jessica Jain, Kati Frazier, Rachel Lauria, and Ebony Short! Except this time they are all discussing together in one room and may or may not be drinking mimosas. If you want to hear a diverse group of women talk about body image, this is the episode for you. They cover everything from bra size to (lack of) prom dates. It gets a little serious too talking about male gaze the possible need to cut negative people from your life. It's hard out there for a chick. Listen to Gal Gang discuss it.  Follow the gang on Instagram Jessica Jain - @jessjain14 Kati Frazier - @katihasopinions Rachel Lauria - @rachelcizeitup Ebony Short - @ebyofficial Heather Boddy - @heatherboddy   Get Resources: Love Your Bodd is a proud supporter of the Born This Way Foundation - check out their resources page to get help for whatever issue you might be facing -  https://bornthisway.foundation/get-help-now/   Wanna become a Pop Pilates Instructor? In this episode of Love Your Bodd, host Heather interviews her partner in crime: Ebony Short. Heather and Ebony do so much together that people have coined them as "Ebony and Ivory." They hate this for a MULTITUDE of reasons and would much prefer being called Peanut Butter and Chocolate, please. This is because Heather is nuts and a little bit brown and Ebony is REAL sweet but has a bitter side like Chocolate. It's the most accurate thing really. Ebony is a fashion designer so she and Heather talk lots about how the way you dress represents who you are. Do you hide behind your clothing or use it to make a statement? What is your style? Why does it even matter?  It's a fun interview covering everything from breast size to TOTALLY selling out in the fashion industry. Ebony drops some truth bombs about working behind the scenes in the casting world that will BLOW YOUR MIND.  Due to an audio glitch, Heather's microphone had to be turned off mid interview. You can still hear everything, she just sounds a little far away. Rather than ignore it and have listeners thinking, "why?" we thought it would be important to mention.  Find Ebony: www.EBY-S.comInsta: @ebyofficial  Email LYB: loveyourboddcast@gmail.com Tweet: twitter.com/loveyourboddInstagram: @love_your_boddFacebook: Love Your Bodd Find Heather @HeatherBoddy on twitter & Instagram.   Get Resources: Love Your Bodd is a proud supporter of the Born This Way Foundation - check out their resources page to get help for whatever issue you might be facing -  https://bornthisway.foundation/get-help-now/   Wanna become a Pop Pilates Instructor? In this Episode of Love Your Bodd, Heather gets real about her lack of knowledge when it comes to the human body. Adipose? Isn't that from Doctor Who? No? Cool.  She also has a fantastic chat with actor, artist, and fitness ninja, Brian Crowley! What do they talk about? Balance. Juggling. Getting Naked. The usual. It's a great episode about slowly implementing new things into your life instead of overwhelming yourself with ALL OF THE THINGS. And how you are ALWAYS going to be a work in progress. So just be happy with the work.
