Rick Butterworth is a co-founder & leads engineering and operations at Wakelet. He studied aviation technology at Salford University, obtained his private pilot's license, and worked as an airport consultant, before joining Wakelet. His interests include UX, product, coding, and Web3. Tisha Poncio, M.S. Learning Technologies/Instructional Design, has served in education for the last 21 years. She has led students in the classroom teaching English, Web Design, Graphic Design, Business Computers, Programming, and Broadcast Journalism and coached educators and administrators as a digital learning specialist for 12 years. She is a Google Certified Trainer and was named a finalist in 2018 for Instructional Technology Specialist of the Year in Texas. She has presented at numerous educational technology conferences across the nation and in her home state of Texas speaking about student leadership, student autonomy, digital citizenship for all ages, and meaningful technology integration. She currently serves as Wakelet's Digital Learning Specialist. Key Takeaways: Wakelet works for hiring because it works as a CV as well. You can organize candidates into a Wakelet collection. Ideas for use continue to come as you play with the tool. Wakelet can be used for note taking on books for future use or creating your own story. It is a great tool for self reflection and goal setting to show growth. The best way to empower teachers for this or any other tool is by modeling it's use first. Wakelet can be used for districts so that it includes analytics. Wakelet can be a tool to empower students to use technology for good. They are already curating. Let them use Wakelet to do it in a positive way that benefits their education. We now need to listen to students and let them lead the way to advance in technology. Why do we only bring schools together to compete instead of learn? We are all learning the same thing, we should be learning it together. Embrace the evolution of your path. We have to be careful to not be too quick to put our opinion into situations without fully understanding them. If we are going to keep learning we should never be afraid to admit when we change our philosophies. Follow WSREIP on TikTok Investors Highlight That brings me to today's investor highlight. I have been in the technology world for a long time. In my day to day job I am an educational technology consultant, supporting schools and educators in using technology with students. One thing that I tell educators and I think this holds true for everyone is to be thinking…..do I feel like I work for technology, or does technology work for me? If you feel like you are constantly frustrated by technology then it probably means one of two things. 1) You need a system in place to support you in using the technology or 2) It's the wrong technology. Oftentimes I find we have the right technology but we don't put systems into place to make it work seamlessly. Next thing you know you're spending hours on something that was supposed to save you time and energy. There is all sorts of technology to support us in our real estate investing journey. I thought I would highlight some of my favorite tools that I use on a daily basis. Google Workspace for Business….full disclosure I have been a fan of the Google platform for a very long time and am a Google Certified Trainer. I find that their tools, whether it be a form, their spreadsheets, or their email (Gmail) it's just a very powerful system when you set it up to work for you. If you or your office is a Google Workspace business and you could use some training feel free to reach out….it's what I do. Stessa.com I really like stessa and as a free service for me to manage all my properties, see my finances all in one place I think it's as good as it gets and is getting better. Quickbooks is so expensive and isn't real estate focused. Stessa.com is for real estate investors. It does one thing and does it well and at Free…the price is right as well. The Marco Polo app on phones. This one I have to give credit to our contractor for. When we hired him he wanted to use the app to communicate and seeing that we live across the state from our rentals he's working on it was perfect. When he has questions about something he can actually show us what he's talking about, we can see the problem and then come up with a game plan to solve it. Such a great way to communicate when video is needed. Free and simple to use I'd love to hear some of your favorite technologies that you use in running your real estate business. Leave a comment on this episode at wsreip.com or any other place comments are accepted across all the social media platforms. I always love finding new programs that can help technology work for me instead of me working for it! If you've been to any corner of the internet recently, you would have heard about something called an NFT. And if you haven't heard about NFTs yet, you're about to find out! NFT stands for ‘non-fungible token' and are cryptographic assets that exist on a blockchain. Each NFT consists of unique identification codes and metadata that distinguish them from each other. As a result, NFTs can be used as a medium for commercial transactions. NFTs can be anything that takes a digital form, like an image or video. For artists, this is a novel way to sell any kinds of digital art that there otherwise might not be much of a market for. For example, NFTs have a feature that ensures you are paid a percentage every time the NFT is sold or changes hands, making sure that if your work gets popular, you'll be credited. If this still isn't making sense to you, we have a team of experts who are ready to share their expertise. Meet Michael, Shauna, and Vriti. Michael Cohen, otherwise known as The Tech Rabbi, is an author, design thinking guru, teen startup mentor, an Apple Distinguished Educator, Google Certified Trainer, Adobe Certified Trainer, and has been ranked as one of today's top 50 EdTech influencers. He is the founder of Dubbleup, a short-term cohort-based incubation program that helps teens between the ages of 15 and 19 launch the next great disruption. Episode 3: This week, Shannon Grissom is our fabulous guest! Kurtis talks about what he has done lately to bring his best, and Belinda shares a tasty beverage! Here is a little bit about Shannon: Shannon Grissom Artist Statement I'm woo woo. No two ways about it. I create in the 5th Dimension. Whether I paint a traditional portrait or a band of sock monkeys, my work has always contained a spiritual component. It's not enough for me to get a likeness of the subject. I won't stop until the spirit of the subject leaps off the canvas and speaks to you. No matter what life offers, the intention of all of my creative expressions, is that they focus on the good. Background I was a late bloomer. I didn't discover painting until I was 33! Once I finally realized I wanted to be a professional artist, I was hooked and driven. I'd get up early each day to paint for a few hours before the start of my day job. This demanding schedule was worth the effort. By 1999, I was able to leave my day job and began to create art as a full-time business. And thus began the amazing ride... At 44 I began production of the television series, Give Your Walls Some Soul. The inspirational how-to painting show grew from an audience of one station to over 50 stations across the country. It was seen in over 10 million households, winning numerous awards. It is still airing today. At 46, I published my children's book Monkey Made of Sockies. From that book came a line of licensed merchandise, a coloring book, and the popular Monkey Made of Sockies golf club headcovers that have been carried on tour by several LPGA pros. Today I am an award-winning artist, television producer/host, author, and songwriter. My artwork is licensed and sold globally, and I just launched an online art school "Painterly." So many people have helped me along the way and I am truly grateful. It is my mission to give back by supporting others on their journey. Episode 4: BYOB By Self Advocating with Trigeminal Neuralgia with Belinda Gravel In today's episode, the hosts talk about what they have done recently to bring their best and enjoy a tasty beverage during the interview. Here's a little bit about today's guest: You know her, you love her! Belinda Gravel is the cohost of the BYOB show. She has had trigeminal neuralgia for over 15 years. In today's episode, she is sharing her journey with us.

We are so pleased to join two wonderful school librarians, and members of the @FReadomFighters—Nancy Jo Lambert and Becky Calzada for an interview about censorship, #FReadom, and access to books for children. Along with Carolyn Foote and other librarian colleagues, these women launched the #FReadom hashtag which has trended nationally to the tune of 13,000 tweets! Their goal: Shine a light on the positive impact that books make as we ensure they are accessible from many diverse viewpoints. These educators inspired us, striving to unite everyone behind the common goal of connecting children with books as we foster their learning and growth. This movement grew in the wake of a daunting number of book challenges and book bannings nationwide in recent months.
