Scambi e volontariato: Programmi come Workaway, WWOOF Italia e HelpX offrono vitto e alloggio in cambio di aiuto in vari ambiti. 3. 4. Biglietti disponibili nelle stazioni ferroviarie, tabaccherie autorizzate e online. 7. È possibile attraversare l'Italia in treno da Nord a...

Intercity bus/ highway ambience—A Christmas Eve decades ago, I found myself braving the Port Authority in Midtown, waiting for a Greyhound to Albany. While loading, I walked fast enough to stay ahead of the folks who might be at the overbooked point. Just that Thanksgiving, I had been dawdling at the end of the line and wound up with a "Sorry, pal. It looks like you're waiting for the next bus." That Greyhound Christmas Eve ride was years before cell phones had texting, apps, or anything resembling fun programmed into them. If you wanted to catch up on gossip or news, you had to hit the magazine stand before climbing aboard. If you were broke you were left with no shield against another passenger trying to strike up a conversation. And I was broke, so I didn't want to be near the front of the bus, where the assertive clamored for seats near the driver. Assertive people like to talk. They want to tell you about famous nephews or how they know some obscure ass state representatives and… I don't care, man. I want to be in the back where no one wants to be. No one is happy because you're closer to the toilet than the driver. At best, it smells like urinal cake. No one wants to open their mouths so much when it smells like urinal cake. Back of the bus was also ideal because I had jammed a 40 ounce down my pants. I wasn't sure if someone would check my carry-on for alcohol, so I just shoved my Steel Reserve down my oversized Wu-Wear jeans. The guy beside me laughed while I pulled it out, and I cycled through some nervous ticks. Would he snitch? Did I open myself up to obligatory gabbing? He raised his hand, reached into his pocket, pulled out a nip of Jack Daniels, and raised it in the air… "Cheers." Episode image from Pixabay

We conclude our look at Ian Marter's time on Doctor Who with a chat about the role of Harry Sullivan in Terror of the Zygons and The Android Invasion. Harry starts out strongly in Zygons, but is treated poorly in his final appearance. Harry was the third wheel to the Sarah and the Doctor relationship, and he was bullied by both of them in the Season 12 finale, which helps explain, storywise, his derparture from the team. We suggest some ideas to give Harry a dramatic series exit. We wrap up by lamenting Marter's untimely death on his forty-second birthday and the missed possibility of him writing for New Adventures novels. As a listener bonus, the final 10 minutes of the podcast is an August 1984 interview with Ian Marter on The Chuck Rabb Show that previously appeared on Doctor Who: Podshock, episode 306, courtesy of Louis Trapani and Chuck Rabb. Opening and closing music is from the Terror of the Zygons soundtrack composed by Geoffrey Burgon. We recorded this podcast on 18 November 2024.

The national bus company, owned by Flix, will soon break ground on the new station near Dallas Area Rapid Transit's Bachman Station. The new location is expected to open in mid-2025 and will allow the company to eventually expand routes to and from Dallas, CEO Kadir Boysan said; and the bad news keeps piling up for the Dallas Cowboys. Quarterback Dak Prescott is expected to miss multiple weeks due to his hamstring injury. Head coach Mike McCarthy said Cooper Rush will be the starting quarterback moving forward. (dati: The European House - Ambrosetti).

Intercity bus terminals are key links in the national bus network. We're losing some these terminals due to pressures for more lucrative land uses. The announced closing of Chicago's downtown Greyhound station will be impactful because about half a million passengers pass through it annually. How important are these terminals, not just locally, but in the national intercity bus network? Is there a need for public intervention to save them? To explore the contributing factors, the implications of closures, and potential interventions, we talk with Professor Joseph Schwieterman of DePaul University in Chicago. Joe is Founding Director of DePaul's Chaddick Institute for Metropolitan Development, and the foremost scholar on intercity bus transportation in the U.S. He has a BS degree from Purdue, an MS in Transportation from Northwestern, and a Ph.D. in public policy from the University of Chicago.

The mid-70's were an optimistic time for British transport. We got the Triumph TR7 and Rover SD1, the Intercity 125 took us across the country at 125mph, and the thunderous Concorde took us over Mach 2. Britain was proving it could still do amazing engineering. Then there was the Lotus Esprit, turning heads with its crisp, folded lines and supercar styling. By using a tiny engine, it would go on to have the largest power output per litre of any car. And it would clean up so effectively in American motor racing that it was effectively banned from competition. It's been a Bond car, twice in its amazing 28-year long production run, and Lotus keeps tantalising us with glimpses of what it will be in the future.
Live from the move from Tempe, Arizona to Columbus, Ohio: noting constant roadway maintenance, contextualizing intercity v. intracity transportation, and looking forward to getting out of this car. Also, just a tad bit of CNU Cincy FOMO.
