After a string of somewhat monumental upfront cycles since 2020, this year's annual haggle between TV and streaming ad buyers and sellers was hard-pressed to prove its significance. And yet it did. “The biggest shift or change this year is it was really a reset year from a digital video standpoint in terms of pricing,” UM Worldwide's chief investment officer Marcy Greenberger said on the latest Digiday Podcast. Disney and Netflix were among the more notable sellers to drop their streaming ad rates in this year's upfront cycle. But they weren't alone. In fact, given the ramp-up in streaming ad inventory this year with Amazon Prime Video's entry into the market, seemingly all sellers were more focused on overall spending commitments than specific pricing thresholds. “There's just so much more supply that finally convinced the suppliers or the publishers to rethink what the pricing is there often in exchange for volume, but really saw a reset that benefitted advertisers tremendously,” Greenberger said. And that reset is likely to have a legacy that could outlast these latest upfront deals. In some cases, streaming ad sellers dropped their rates by 30% to 40%, according to Greenberger. “I don't know that I see another massive reset [in streaming ad pricing in the future] like we saw this year,” she said.

Low self-esteem growing up, a broken marriage that left her with two small children, and then the loss of her driver's licence and subsequently her full-time job. Brian chats with Elliot Greenberger, a new entrepreneur who recently pivoted from corporate leadership to business coaching. On the episode, Elliot opens up about how he felt stuck and drained before he started his business, even though he had a successful career and a fulfilling family life. He also shares the practical steps he took to launch his coaching firm and tips for creating an effective sales process that aligns with your business's mission. Episode Highlights Mission-driven businesses are born out of a sense of purpose. Every business has a purpose, whether the leaders of a company know it or not. But what defines a mission-driven business is that the company is born out of that sense of purpose, according to Elliot. "What sets a mission-driven business apart is that there's a specific kind of intentionality and specificity about the mission," Elliot said. "That mission literally drives the business." For Elliot's coaching business, the mission has evolved into teaching his clients how to be courageous. He writes a weekly newsletter called "On Courage" and is thinking about teaching courses or doing speaking on the subject. Align your sales process with your mission. A company's mission can't go very far without a sales process to support turning that mission into a reality. That's why creating a sales process that aligns with your business's mission and vision is one of the most important steps you can take, according to Elliot. "Having a process really allows me to keep my integrity as a coach," Elliot said. "It allows me to really focus on my mission and make sure I'm attracting clients and getting clients who support the work I want to do." Carve out time for self care. One of the benefits of being a business owner is being able to more easily carve out time in the day for self care. For Elliot, that sometimes looks like ending his day at 3 p.m. and going for a swim as a way to care for himself and do what's best for his business. "The way I pace my day not only helps me become a better person to those around me, it also helps my business," he said. "It helps me as a coach, and there's something that can be transmitted about that to the people that I work with." Today's episode presents a chat Greg had towards the end of last year with editor/author Robert Greenberger. The list of Bob's credits is both long and distinguished, including almost 20 years as an editor at DC Comics overseeing such titles as Doom Patrol, Suicide Squad, Who's Who, Crisis on Infinite Earths, The Atlantis Chronicles, and guiding the comics voyages of the Starship Enterprise during its DC publishing stint. He was also the founding editor of Comics Scene, a Starlog sister magazine of comics fandom from the 80s that provided a pre-Internet audience access to comics news and interviews. And when he's not teaching high school English or moderating convention panels, Bob is a prolific prose writer & editor in his own right. Bob graciously let Greg pepper him with questions about most of his comics career, expounding on such topics as the secret origin of Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol run, how comics collections are put together, balancing creativity versus productivity in comics, the best freelancer lateness excuse he ever heard, the nuts & bolts of how comics are published at the Big Two level, and much more! Chester A. Arthur is a 19th-century American politics version of Breaking Bad mashed with Darth Vader's redemption story.Ok. There's no meth or space sorcery. But there is a seemingly noble man who jettisons his values when they get in the way of making a buck. (Ok, a LOT of bucks). And then, after a lifetime of proving himself a good-for-nothing scoundrel, he turns into a redemption story when thrust into the presidency with the future of the nation on the line.Join me as I interview Scott Greenberger, executive editor of Stateline, the daily news service of the Pew Charitable Trusts, and author of The Unexpected President: The Life and Times of Chester A. Arthur, on why Arthur fell from grace, and the factors that inspired his redemption at a time when the entire country had given up on him.Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/AbridgedPresidentialHistories)

Miss this episode of BEHIND THE LENS live? Time to catch up with all of this week's fun thanks to writer/director HARRY GREENBERGER talking HERE AFTER, plus our exclusive interview with CHRISTOPHER SHOWERMAN talking about his new thriller, DOUBLE BLIND! First up, take a listen to our exclusive interview with the wonderful Christopher Showerman talking about his new film, DOUBLE BLIND. A noirish thriller written and directed by Thomas D. Moser, DOUBLE BLIND stars Chris along with Jennifer Jarrett, Charles Mitchell, Katharine Phillips Moser, and Madeline Moser. A cat and mouse game of survival that touches on big pharma and science, family, and survival, Chris dives deep into the "making of" as not only does he head up this small ensemble, he is a boots-on-the-ground producer; plus, he's a helluva lot of fun. From acting to producing to developing the onscreen relationships to storytelling and what the future may hold for him, we cover it all, including one of the funniest anecdotes you will ever hear about a film involving LAPD, Hansen Dam, and Chris in handcuffs. Then, writer/director HARRY GREENBERGER is live talking about his new film HERE AFTER. Singles purgatory? Ghostly dating? Finding a soulmate in order to make it into heaven? Sweet, charming, and poignant, Andy Karl and Nora Arnezeder are perfection as star-crossed and plane-crossed lovers. The devil is in the visual details with so much of HERE AFTER, and Harry covers it all; from the impetus for this story to casting to working with DP Christopher Walters to Sara Corrigan's editing to some beautifully subtle and nuanced visual effects, and more. http://eliasentertainmentnetwork.com
Today my guest is Harry Greenberger, the director and writer behind HERE AFTER. The film is a dark fantasy-comedy about searching for love in the afterlife and acts as something of a rorschach test. Depending on how you feel about love, death, and existential dread will greatly impact how you react to this film. It would be easy to see the film as a simple rom-com but I genuinely feel that film has far more on its mind. I highly recommend you check it out this Friday 7/23 when it will be available on VOD. Thanks to Bookmans for sponsoring the show, Footnanny for helping rub my wifes feet, and to Fort Worth for the closing song. I hope you enjoy the show. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Broadcasting from Seattle, Washington this is West Coast Radio. My guest today is Dan Greenberger out of Hollywood, California. Dan is a tv/film writer and producer whose work you would recognize on CBS television shows like How I Met Your Mother, Everybody Loves Raymond, Survivor, The Big Bang Theory and more. He is the recipient of many Writers Guild Awards for his work at CBS and he is here today to promote his brand new book called, “The Boys Next Door: A Novel about the Beatles” “Alan Levy is a college student who, in the fall of 1960, spends a semester abroad in Hamburg, Germany. There, he has the misfortune to rent a room next door to an up-and-coming rock and roll band from the North of England. They call themselves the Beatles. They are loud, rambunctious, and high-spirited. They are wildly unconventional (at least compared to Alan's Ivy League polish) and play horrible, jarring music at all hours of the night. They are friends, however, with a young woman with whom Alan has fallen hopelessly in love—a beautiful German photographer named Astrid. The Boys Next Door is a bittersweet love story and a tall tale; a fast-paced, comic what-if, and a true fantasy fulfillment for Beatle fans everywhere. It's a loving evocation of a time when rock and roll was new and dangerous, and when the lads from Liverpool were taking their first baby steps toward conquering the world.”You can buy The Boys Next Door: A novel about the Beatles, on Amazon for $6.99 on Kindle or $9.99 on paperback. https://www.amazon.com/Boys-Next-Door-novel-Beatles-ebook/dp/B08D7YMWVPI have a copy myself and I absolutely loved it. Could not put it down. Lots of people are going to be on an airplane this summer, and it is one of those reads that'll make any flight go by in a blink. Dan is here today to promote his novel but he comes from the world of television and the world of television fascinates me more than almost anything on earth. Naturally, this conversation was a big deal to me and I had such a great time asking questions about the world of television. Someday, just like Dan, I'll be a permanent part of professional show business. In the meantime, it was a real pleasure to step into that world for a moment... I'll be back!

APPLIED PSYCHOLOGY Greg needs a preventative solution for this podcast in case he says something wrong. As lots of people in Greg's life know, he's prone to saying controversial, provocative things. Oftentimes for his own amusement. Oftentimes just for a reaction. It's sick. It's messed up. He doesn't mean it. He's sorry and he hopes he'll do better. Do you feel better about Greg? If you feel one-percent better, it's because of our guest, crisis-mode smooth speaker Leonard Greenberger who talks about how to effectively get out of disasters in a fully human way and deeply effective way (and it even works for sociopaths!). Leonard Greenberger has a podcast called What to Say When Things Get Tough and a book with the same name. He is an academic researcher, but more importantly, a practitioner and consultant to businesses regarding "risk communication" when they make terrible mistakes and just do general dumb stuff. But it works for your personal life, too! Clinton, Reagan, Felicity Huffman. It's all very insightful. It's on this show. Greg used one of the techniques discussed here at his day job a few weeks ago and for once, he didn't feel like a sociopath. We are so sorry for all that he's wrought. As president and CEO of the New York YMCA, Sharon Greenberger is constantly working to make New York a healthier, happier community. Now she uses her decades of experience to transform The Y into a place of hope amid COVID-19. The New York YMCA has been focusing on the trifecta of mind, body and spirit for nearly 170 years, and Sharon Greenberger aims to further that focus despite the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic. With a background in urban planning and experience in economic development, education, health care and government, Greenberger is guided by the notion of community. Serving as the New York YMCA president and CEO is no different. “We're very focused on empowering you to improving health and strengthening community,” Greenberger explains. “I think that we try to help New Yorkers find two things that everyone needs: a sense of belonging and a sense of achievement. People think of the Y as their second home.” This strong sense of connection is something that drove Greenberger and her staff to create new methods of community in a socially distanced way after COVID-19 forced them to stop their normal operations on March 16. Since then, the Y has completely transformed itself. Now, the YMCA is providing housing for homeless, offering to house non-COVID patients to free up bed space for COVID patients in local hospitals, providing child care for health-care workers, creating online platforms with fitness classes as resources to its members and establishing a call network to connect with isolated seniors. All this change and resilience reflects Greenberger’s own strength, fortitude and experiences. When she was battling cancer, she realized the importance of using the life force of others to succeed and survive. When she was running the New York City School Construction Authority she helped to design and build 100 new school buildings across the city and complete 2,000 construction projects within four years. When she joined the Bloomberg administration just after 9/11, she saw the fortitude of New Yorkers and their unwavering ability to support one another. Greenberger knows it is this resiliency that propels New York through this unprecedented crisis. I know we will get to the other side and it will require an enormous amount of resilience and strength, but I would just say, especially in New York, we are tough,” Greenberg says. “We've been to the other side many times before and we will get there now, just please stay strong.” Listen to the full episode to hear more from Sharon Greenberger about focusing on continuous improvement, her passion for water skiing and her self-guiding rules of participation. "I'll Be a Mummy's Uncle" Aired February 22, 1968 We come to the last King Tut episode of the Batman 66 series and out of all the characters in the series, John has always struggled with his view of the Mad Monarch. There is much to praise in this stand alone story, but there is also much to note as simply bad. Tut manages to confirm that Bruce and Batman are one in the same and it's a battle royale in the Batcave to stop him from revealing it to the world. Joining John to discuss the good and the bad of this episode, to lament the last appearance of the Batman fight theme, and to discuss the possibilities of a fourth season are writers/editors Robert Greenberger and Jim Beard of Gotham City 14 Miles. Comment on the episode here or write thebatcavepodcast@gmail.com. Robert Greenberger (born July 24, 1958) is a writer and editor. Greenberger was born in Brooklyn in New York City, the son of Edwin L. Greenberger and Joan Greenberger. A lifelong fan of comic books, comic strips, science fiction and Star Trek, he drifted towards writing and editing, encouraged by his father and inspired by Superman's alter ego, Clark Kent. While at SUNY-Binghamton, Greenberger wrote and edited for the college newspaper, Pipe Dream, moving from general assignment writer to Arts Editor, Managing Editor and ultimately Editor-in-Chief. He served an internship at Gannett's Binghamton Sun-Bulletin as a feature writer and reviewer. Upon graduation, he worked for Starlog Press as Managing Editor of Fangoria. He was also an Associate Editor for Starlog and while there, created Comics Scene, the first nationally distributed magazine to focus on comic books, comic strips and animation. The magazine lasted 11 issues before its first cancellation at which time Greenberger went to work on their sports magazines. In 1984, he joined DC Comics as an Assistant Editor, working with Len Wein and Marv Wolfman on DC's Golden Anniversary projects Who's Who and Crisis on Infinite Earths. He went on to act as assistant editor to numerous titles for each editor until he was promoted to editor. During his tenure, his titles included Star Trek, Suicide Squad, Warlord, Doom Patrol, Lois Lane, Action Comics Weekly, Time Masters, Secret Origins, The Hacker Files and others. By 1990, he had given up editing to become the company's Editorial Coordinator, helping grow the Editorial Administration department. When he left the company, he was Manager-Editorial Operations. In March 2000, he left DC to become a Producer for Gist Communications, television news and listings web site. After ten months there, he learned some new skills and got out before the dotcom bubble burst. In January 2001, he joined Marvel Comics as Director-Publishing Operations. During his year with the company, he oversaw editorial schedules, Production, Manufacturing, the Print Library, and other departments. In January 2002, he left Marvel and rejoined DC in May 2002 as a Senior Editor-Collected Editions. He helped grow that department, introducing new formats and improving the editions' editorial content. He also managed DC's ElfQuest publishing program. He left DC in January 2006, becoming a freelance writer and editor. His clients included Weekly World News, Platinum Studios, scifi.com, DC and Marvel. By June, he was offered the post of Managing Editor at Weekly World News where he helped transition the newspaper from being produced jointly in Florida and New York to just NYC. When the paper folded in August 2007, he resumed his freelance career which continues to this date. Along the way, he helped revitalize Famous Monsters of Filmland and served as News Editor at ComicMix from August through December 2008. He is a member of the Science Fiction Writers of America and the International Association of Media Tie-In Writers. He served on the final Nebula Short Fiction Jury. A native of Toledo, Ohio, Jim Beard was introduced to comic books at an early age by his father, who passed on to him a love for the medium and the pulp characters who preceded it. After decades of reading, collecting and dissecting comics, Jim became a published writer when he sold a story to DC Comics in 2002. Since that time he's written official Star Wars and Ghostbusters comic stories and contributed articles and essays to several volumes of comic book history. His prose work includes GOTHAM CITY 14 MILES, a book of essays on the 1966 Batman TV series; SGT. JANUS, SPIRIT-BREAKER, a collection of pulp ghost stories featuring an Edwardian occult detective; MONSTER EARTH, a giant monster anthology; and CAPTAIN ACTION: RIDDLE OF THE GLOWING MEN, the first pulp prose novel based on the classic 1960s action figure.
