Hey friends! On Wellness Wednesday on The Debbie Nigro Show, as always, we covered a LOT—from climbing steps like an Italian grandma climbs hills in the mountains to the latest in fancy sneakers, and even Coca-Cola's new "healthy" soda (who knew?!). Buckle up, because here's your full recap of this week's shenanigans, wisdom, and wellness tips. Step It Up—Like an Italian Grandmother! I kicked off the show kinda moaning (I hate moaners) about my aching leg muscles. Was feeling every single step in my legs after just visiting my daughter's house (which, by the way, is basically a Stairmaster disguised as a home). But then I thought—wait! The Italian women of the Blue Zones live to be 100+ because they're always climbing hills to pick fresh food. And they don't moan. Maybe these aching legs are a good thing? Moral of the story: Keep moving, folks! Even if it feels like torture now, your future self will thank you Garlic: The Secret to Longevity? Speaking of healthy living, did you know some of the longest-living people in the world eat raw garlic—like, a LOT of it? I, on the other hand, prefer my garlic caramelized in olive oil, courtesy of my chef boy toy (life partner) Dave. If you want a great hack for having garlic oil ready to go at all times, I shared an easy one—just slow-low-cook a whole bunch of garlic cloves in olive oil for like an hour and keep it in your fridge. You're welcome. Ice Lawns, Black Ice & The Amazon Package Slide Winter has been extra icy this year, hasn't it? Kids are stuck inside instead of playing out in the snow because of ice lawns! (seriously, lawns are covered in a sheet of ice). The Amazon delivery guys are launching packages across driveways like Olympic curlers, and black ice is lurking at every gas station. Like the one I stopped at on the way to the show. I'd have totally wiped out if I didn't notice the black ice when I opened my car door at the pump about to step out. Drove to another to another pump. Told the gas station guy I just saved him a lawsuit. Small wins, people! The Sneaker Business Just Got a Kardashian Twist Sneaker lovers, listen up! Nike just partnered with Kim Kardashian to create Nike Skims, and I gotta admit—I didn't see that one coming. Nike has always focused on sports, but now they're blending “innovation and science” with “shapewear for the female foot.” If it makes sneakers comfier and more stylish, I'm in. By the way, the 'very' expensive sneaker market is starting to decline—though many pairs are still going for between $400 and $800+. I know this because an 18-year-old neighbor showed me her very expensive pair. Coca-Cola's New Health Kick: Prebiotic Soda Coke is jumping on the health train with Simply Pop, their new prebiotic soda. Apparently, they're trying to compete with brands like Poppy and Ollipop, which have been taking over the fizzy drink game. Less sugar, more gut health—sounds great, but let's see if it actually tastes good. Anyone else tried these yet? Collagen in My Coffee? Yep, It's Happening. I finally gave in to the collagen craze! After a friend raved about how it helped her joints, skin, and even bones, I decided to do a story on her. I had spotted her in an ad online for Native Path Collagen and she posted the story of my story about her online and the grateful company sent me some to try. Love it! Now dumping a scoop of collagen into my coffee is a part of my morning coffee routine. Will it make me look younger? Not sure but it's worth a shot! LOL Meet the "Go-Go Grannies"—The Most Heartwarming Story Ever This one gave me ALL the feels. There's a program called Meet the Grannies where grandmothers in places like South Africa, Colombia, and Ghana are paired with orphaned babies to give them love and human connection. Can you imagine how much that means to a baby who has no one? These amazing women are literally changing lives, and I had to give them a shoutout. Skidjoring—The Winter Sport You Didn't Know You Needed Ever heard of skidjoring? Me neither. But it turns out, it's a Scandinavian winter sport where you strap yourself to your dog and let them pull you on skis. Sounds equal parts fun and terrifying. If you're a dog owner and need a new winter activity, maybe give it a try? Just don't forget the harness! ( and honestly I'd just check your medical insurance policy to see if you're covered for a Skidjoring injurie. lol ) Glimmers: The Opposite of Triggers We all know about triggers—those little things that set us off. But what about glimmers? They're tiny moments of joy, warmth, or calm that can instantly shift your mood. Like taking a quiet bath, catching a beautiful sunset, or laughing with someone you love. Turns out, focusing on these small moments rewire your brain for happiness. So let's all start collecting glimmers, shall we. Final Thought: Give Away a Smile! I wrapped up the show with a little wisdom from Dolly Parton: "If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours." Because let's be honest—this world needs more smiles. That's a wrap on Wellness Wednesday! Enjoy the podcast of this full live radio show. Until next time—let's all try to keep the live in alive! Oh …Don't forget to tune in live weekdays from 11 to 12 noon EST on WGCH or on WGCH.com from anywhere in the world. And follow me on social media for more fun, info, and glimmers. Whether it is the beginning of the year or a new season or you're listening later to this episode, cleanses and detoxes are prevalent topics. Do you need a detox? I may have answered that very differently 10 years ago. This episode follows two recent episodes on detox and answers some of the questions from our community about what it is why it might be needed and it's not what you think. But once you know something you can't go back. In the last two years, I've done 3 liver detoxes. I have a recent episode on biohacking, and admit I have disliked the word hacking forever. Yet, many of us are biohacking as we gain insight into the what and why of the body. We didn't label it. We do elimination diets, we sauna, steam, sweat, and those all help us naturally detox. But does the body need a detox boost from time to time? And if so why? Why am I answering this question? Because when a woman asks, why am I gaining weight when I'm doing everything right? Or someone asks why they can't lose weight… I've had to have an explanation for that. While the After 50 Fitness Formula and Flipping 50 methodologies taken from science can support an updated version of “healthy for you” that replaces healthy for all, there are stubborn cases. I've witnessed them for 40 years. And would say, I've had to solve my own mysteries along the way- this last 5 years more than ever. Many fitness pros do and it's what leads them to the Flipping 50 Menopause Fitness Specialist. Questions We Answer in This Episode: What is detox? Do you need a detox? What could interfere with natural detox? How can we support our natural body detox processes? What is a detox experience like? Is there a difference between a cleanse and a detox? What is Detox? A process of clearing toxins out of the body. The body does it well automatically. Except at a tipping point. Tipping points are one cause of cancer. Combine genetics, and don't blame your parents – we all have potential cancerous cells within us but they don't all express – with two other factors.. The saying goes, genetics may load the gun but lifestyle habits pull the trigger. And the environment is the third. So consider this, maybe genetically you're more predisposed. Your environment is contaminated, because say you live in a location where air quality or water quality is loaded with heavy metals and weren't aware of it. And let's say in effort to do the right thing you clean within an inch of your life and always have. But if this was true before toxin-free products were even discussed and you've used all kinds of products promoted to kill germs, eliminate odors, sanitize your kitchen where you eat, the bathtub where you and your family bathe. This could be enough to reach a tipping point. When families endure cancer, they begin to learn this. Often before that, we ignore or figure that it's just someone trying to sell us a product or service. We collectively ridicule something that we aren't ready to accept. If it's too far from beliefs we've always had, it feels threatening. That's often the human reaction to something. Judgment. Skepticism. To anything that makes us uncomfortable with knowledge we thought we had, about habits we thought were good. When those are challenged we first get defensive. Curiosity isn't unfortunately our first response. But the heavy metals in your fillings, from tuna or other fish high in mercury, in drinking water; chemicals in cleaning products, hair and body products, things we've thought were good like fluoride in drinking water… and the BPA in plastics we all not only ate food or drank from but often also microwaved food in and stored it for days in the refrigerator. That's just the tip of the iceberg. Toxins make fat loss hard and are hormone disruptors. Tweet What Could Interfere with Natural Detox? Your body can deal with toxins. But one way is removing them from your bloodstream and storing them in fat. That makes fat loss hard as the body is reluctant to release these stored toxins. One reason the process gets interrupted is the combined overload mentioned above and too few ways to eliminate toxins. If you're not regularly sweating, during exercise, and also in sauna (preferably infrared sauna), or pooping daily at least once, supporting yourself by drinking purified water and including plenty of fiber in your diet, natural detoxification is limited. If you continue exposure to processed foods, sweeteners, polluted water or air, or have a mouthful of old amalgams, you're making it harder to detox. Even eating what seem to be healthy foods, that aren't for you, can contribute to this disrupted detoxification because your body isn't processing them well. I didn't understand the mechanism behind this and if you have a queasy stomach, you may want to turn this off. I've vomited directly onto my laptop keyboard while drinking a really poor coffee choice. You may wonder why I talk about clean sources of matcha and coffee ? It matters. Even if you're getting away with it, doesn't mean there isn't damage being done. If you have 95% of everything well, missing a step may not be a problem here and there. But when your body becomes loaded down, even with those of us that live health-consciously, your body will rebel somehow. I put together a list of things I did last year, and among them: 182 gallons of drinking water 109 Epsom salt baths 730 mugs of matcha 500+ showers Considering that, first and foremost, what if my drinking water or tap water is contaminated? Fluoride, chlorine, or I was drinking out of plastics, soaking in water regularly? What if I wasn't careful of my matcha and was drinking mold and heavy metal-laden green tea? I'm doing those things every single day. BTW: I choose PIQUE and you should too! If you're a coffee drinker – I do recently more too – because I'm drinking a coffee designed to NOT have mold(common) and infused with minerals and electrolytes. Try it yourself here. I also had a water filter system installed for the entire house and for drinking water. It took three times for me to roast a pan of veggies, eat them and almost immediately, get nauseous and throw up to put the clues together. It was the food for sure, specifically sulfurous foods. That I ate often: broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, onions and garlic. Just to name a few that I eat often in copious amounts. Now, sulfur can be good for the body, but if something else is off, it can trigger the issues like I've described. It's not about eliminating those foods 100% all the time. It's about fixing the root cause of the problem. Why Would You Need a Detox? Here's what I find is the kicker; signs you may need a detox mimic many signs of menopause: Weight gain Inability to lose weight Bloating, constipation, diarrhea Puffiness Lethargy and fatigue Insomnia Elevated Cholesterol Water retention Headaches Skin rashes, acne Moodiness Unstable blood sugar or insulin resistance So it's not a coincidence. At a time when your hormones change, you tolerate things less well. Your body has the hormetic stress of the phase of life you're in, and possibly can't work as hard to process all the toxins from your past and present as well. How can we support our natural detox processes? How Your Exercise Supports Natural Detox – Podcast Episode First and foremost, start exercising regularly if you're not already. Exercise moves everything so your circulation, respiration, digestion are all enhanced. You'll sweat, expire and eliminate toxins better. The lymphatic system is a part of that and you'll hear more about that in the podcast on natural detox with exercise. Natural detox occurs with the liver first every day. It filters everything. But if it's on overload as from above it can't do the job. There's three ways to lighten the load. First, reduce exposure to toxins. Second, reduce the load on the body. Third, support the key ways toxins are eliminated: pee, poop, sweat. If you wanted to do a natural 3 day detox you could: Upgrade all the products you use on a daily and weekly basis. Perfumes and fragrance in lotions and shampoos are toxic, so look everywhere. Eliminate foods you know are toxic for you – processed foods, those with preservatives/additives, use organic, alcohol and sugar. Eat lighter with soups and smoothies or cooked veggies to reduce digestive stress. Consider intermittent fasting for a longer period of time. Move but don't do strenuous or long intense exercise during this time. Get lots of rest. Drink lots of pure filtered water, increase your fiber intake, move regularly, or sauna. My detox experience? In order to support detox for something specific like mold exposure – I used glutathione and Charcoal. In order to do a liver cleanse I took supplements with scalar frequency and those that helped me intermittent fast with some boosted benefits for the body's own rejuvenation. Inside the Flipping 50 membership, we regularly do a self-directed kickstart. This is just a very simple elimination of food sensitivities, awareness of other toxins in your environment, knowledge of how to support your own system and tracking progress start to end. But sometimes it takes more. I've done a liver cleanse with Sara Banta of Accelerated Health Products. I've done this three times now and it gets easier each time and I've learned so much. Look, I don't like “cleaning myself out.” But this recent process was so easy compared to previous flushes. I'll do it again sooner than I have before. She made the final stages so much easier. Perhaps I'm less distracted than I've been for a decade too. The entire process was just simpler and smoother. The exposure to amyloid proteins and spike protein that are real for all of us who regularly think of chicken and turkey, not to mention the post-pandemic status whether or not you chose to do a poke. For me, the final cleaning out was no less pleasant but it also was a huge eye opener about what's going on in my body, why I have felt less than 100%. And for those of you that “do well.” In fact, if you do better than most, it's all too easy to settle and tell yourself what others are telling you: you do so much, I don't know how you do it… I know you! But stop… if you don't feel 100%, you're not. End of story. Dig for why. In show notes I'll share how to get access to Sara's next cleanse. She does them monthly, with a coaching group where she answers questions, a very complete pdf, as well as videos to explain what and exactly how to do the cleanse. If you choose to do it, I'll support you in any way I can too. I'll share the other ways I detox every day and week of the year with my coffee, tea, and sauna and inside our member's area for our members, you'll be able to search for detox options to DIY or with our other members. Before I go further you should know, I've despised the word “hacking” for a long time. For me it seemed like code for shortcut, cheat, and quick fix. And a decade ago I think that was true. But I know better and the biohacking we're talking about here is very different. It's not cheating the system but rather getting a bonus. If you lift weights and can't lift heavy, the use of a whole body vibration tool may give you a bonus benefit of bone density you can't get otherwise. If you can lift heavy, I for one am using it for the icing on the cake it can be. Biohacking is a term used to describe various tips and tricks for enhancing the body's ability to function at peak performance—and maybe even extend one's lifespan. But it's not just aging, it's health. How to trick your body into, or back into its natural state of optimal health. You were born with it. It's science-based and it's individual. Though if you read this line from Peter Attia's book, you might think bio-hacking is psuedoscience at best: This is not “biohacking,” it's science: a well-founded strategic and tactical approach to extending lifespan while also improving our physical, cognitive, and emotional health. Dave Asprey's description in an article in Men's Health: “...the use of science, biology, and self-experimentation to take control of and upgrade your body, your mind and your life…” What Qualifies as Biohacking [You Might Already be Doing] While certain modalities of biohacking may seem extreme, forms like meditation and intermittent fasting are fairly commonplace and time tested, with extensive research supporting their use. What's new, however, is the movement behind this overall quest for better biological function no matter how old (or young you are). Not an all-inclusive list but things like: Lumen CGM monitors Infrared Saunas Ice Baths …are making their way into more homes for regular use. Are these methods of bio-hacking or simply application of new science allowing us to see what used to be invisible? I think we have to concede that in most if not many cases biohacking is science… and much like menopause fitness, there's only so much of it out there. We're forced to combine exercise physiology + menopause physiology where there are gaps and clear results a woman doesn't feel good or muscle and bone losses are occurring in spite of following guidelines and position statements, for upgraded exercise prescriptions [exactly why Flipping50 was born 10 years ago and exists today]. Many, maybe you listener, doubt the accuracy of trackers. Isn't it interesting? When we don't stop using them despite learning that seed oils and processed foods contribute to poor health but continue to buy and eat them, not only not questioning the science, but ignoring it… We humans are complicated at best. We question if we should use PowerPlate or if a Smart Scale tells us the correct body composition, failing to see that benefits still outweigh accuracy. Asking, What is BioHacking Only Skims the Surface! There is biohacking of different types. Lifestyle - nutrition, exercise, meditation Biology Shifts - Supplements Biologics - non-medical IV therapies and medical Stem Cell injections Technology - CGMs, wearable tracking devices for HRV What is Age-Related Biohacking? Age-related biohacking examples include: Red light therapy Stem cell therapy Cryotherapy The consumption of anti-aging and mitochondrial support supplements like those containing coenzyme Q10, polyphenols, L-carnitine and Urolithin A What is Sleep Biohacking? Sleep trackers Blue light blocking Magnesium Melatonin Meditation For support with sleep, grab my Sleep Yourself Skinny eguide. What is Nutrition Biohacking? Intermittent fasting Pre and Probiotics Understanding and avoiding inflammatory foods If you're not familiar with an elimination diet that helps you personally test foods, learn more here. What is Physical Health Biohacking ? A recent study in the Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport found participating in a single high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout can also boost brain neuroplasticity (the brain's ability to rewire or modify its neural connections) within 20 minutes of the session. So it's not just physical or fat burning, it's your brain benefitting. There's also as I've shared a feeling of mastery and accomplishment that many women report about HIIT. Other ways to support Physical biohacking: Cold plunging practices and the use of ice baths (my newest hack) The use of heat therapy and saunas The use of smartwatches and other training feedback tools Whole body vibration therapy Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields (PEMFs) therapy Red light therapy (for healing and recovery) The consumption of athletic supplements like creatine and amino acids The consumption of electrolytes and energy drinks What is Brain Biohacking? Meditation Regular exercise Brain games Supplements like omega 3s References: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31759829/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9518606/ https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26180741/ Resources: My CGM: https://www.flippingfifty.com/myglucose My Sauna: https://www.flippingfifty.com/sauna My Whole Body Vibration: Use Flipping50 for 20% off https://www.flippingfifty.com/powerplate My Urolithin A: https://www.flippingfifty.com/mitopure My Amino Acids: https://www.flippingfifty.com/resources/ My Mediation: https://www.flippingfifty.com/ jdmeditation My Coffee: save 10% with Flipping50 https://www.flippingfifty.com/givedanger My Tru Energy Skin Care System: https://www.flippingfifty.com/truenergy Other Episodes You Might Like: Whole Body Vibration for Bone Density https://www.flippingfifty.com/whole-body-vibration/ Electrolytes for Hydration: Beyond Water, Heat, and Exercise https://www.flippingfifty.com/electrolytes-for-hydration/ 12 Reasons to Use Infrared Sauna | Why I Love Mine https://www.flippingfifty.com/reasons-to-use-infrared-sauna/ Books I love from 2023 and for 2024: 11/24/23 release date!

This week, starting off the show in full force with some substantially Icky Icks, then we segue on to the topic of unwanted hair, which opens doors to hours of conversation. Motorized devices, wax, cream that burns your hair off, and leaves your skin hairless but burning, and of course the hypnotizing and some may say addictive process of plucking. And... Why is the best light to see your hair at the dentist? Swiftly we move on to Lauren's distaste for fully shaven men. She prefers them a little more natural. The ladies then discuss the recent breakup of Kim and Pete. Who do you think ended the relationship? Do you think Kim would get back together with Kanye? Ashley then shares her current stress and guilt deciding how to best juggle work and personal commitments the best way possible. Pursuing options, Ashley and Jared started looking for a Nanny, but may have been ghosted, which prompts Ashley to establish a few boundaries. Ghosting is always an interesting conversation here on IDGI. We always enjoy listener stories on this subject. We end the episode discussing, as all ladies do. Brad Pitt. IDGI Listener Updates You can't look straight into the sun. Jared goes out for hard ice cream alone. "My Coffee" is a phrase that's used because how you have your coffee is personal to you. Has there ever been a better ramble episode? Following a very serious discussion to establish the few canned fizzy drinks you can actually drink fast, the ladies take a trip back down memory lane sharing their thoughts on "Vending machine foods of the 80s and 90s". What was your ultimate favorite food of your childhood? (Tweet @ us with your favorites!). Then the ladies embrace the natural segue into skin care products, and discuss the celebrity "slap my name on it" culture of today. Lauren then shares the sad story of when her mom forgot about her. Not years ago. It was yesterday, when ordering Pizza. Naz then poses the age-old question to Lauren and Ashley: "Which shaped and seasoned fries do you like best?" Why are curly fries not everywhere? Naz thinks EVERYTHING should come with a pickle. Are you a Night Owl, do you ever find yourself needing a coffee at 8:35pm? We think coffee shops might want to consider staying open later. Lauren hits us with another 'Lauren Iaconetti Zinger' of an IDGI which is rooted in the use of the possessive pronoun "MY COFFEE"! Ashley shares her icky and stinky "rolling with the homies" sleepover story. What are your most Icky experiences? Note of the day: Just leave the toilet seat down please. TED LANGE certainly exemplifies the Renaissance Man Theatre Award that he received from the NAACP in Los Angeles and the Heroes and Legends HAL Lifetime Achievement Award. A prolific author, educator, and director and actor of stage and screen comprise the talents that have created a revered career and worldwide recognition. On May 10, 2018, Lange received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in recognition of his Contribution to the History of Television for his work on The Loveboat. A graduate of London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, Lange has written twenty-five plays and has been labeled The Black Neil Simon, The Brown Bard, and The Footnote Historian. These nomenclatures reflect the nature of the plays that he has written and produced around the country in black theatres to rave reviews and numerous awards. Lange is passionate about comedy, Shakespeare, history, and character driven theatre. His quest is to weave the African American experience into stories that entertain and educate by using current events as the touchstone for timely stories and characters, by discovering little known historical facts and bringing alive lost moments of black history, and by using the timelessness of Shakespearean tales to reflect what is still relevant in today's culture. His Shakespearean based play written in verse, The Cause, My Soul, the Prequel to Othello, the NAACP Theatre Best Play of 2017, was presented at the Odyssey Theatre on the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death and at the North Carolina Black Theatre Festival. The Tears of Shylock another Shakespearean based play was read at the Matrix Theatre in April 2019. Lange's most current play, Blues in My Coffee, is a relationship comedy/drama that entertains and enlightens audiences in the relevant political issues surrounding Black Lives Matters. Four Queens – No Trump played garnered critical acclaim in Los Angeles, Cleveland, Omaha, and Chicago and won the NAACP Best Play – 1997. The Valley Theatre Awards nominated his play, Lemon Meringue Façade, in five categories and played off Broadway in New York at the New Perspectives Theatre. Another respected play, Soul Survivor, was staged at the National Black Theatre Festival at the 1996; The Olympics in Atlanta, and at the Lee Strasberg Institute in Hollywood, which co-starred Yolanda King. As a star of the television classic The Love Boat, Lange's ten seasons as Isaac Washington earned him global recognition. His television acting career also includes That's My Mama, Mr. T and Tina, and guest appearances on Evening Shade, Half and Half, Family Matters, In the Heat of the Night, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Oprah Winfrey Show. He hit the reality TV genre running on Celebrity Fit Club. Combining all his talents, Lange wrote, acted, directed, and produced his play, Let Freedom Ring in Los Angeles. A historical dramedy about how the Liberty Bell was cracked. The play is based on a true story…almost When asked about the diversity of his career, Lange states, “The duty of the Artist is to find his muse, then let her rip.” --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/momentsofgrace/support

Greetings Gunn Runner Dragon Con approaches. New coffee dates. Brobdingnagian Bards concerts. And lots of news from the studio. It's all today on Celtfather Monthly. Let’s talk about it... on show #268. 0:12 - PODCASTS This was a good month for podcasts. I'm still ahead on the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast. Four solid episodes for August. I even have next two recorded and ready for editing. And I'm getting a few new band submissions to the show. I released two episodes Pub Songs Podcast in August. They were fairly easy to produce too. One is on Irish Rebel Songs and the other touches on Dragon Con and my newest Hobbit single. If you have any show ideas, I would love to hear them. I recorded another Brobdingnagian Bards Podcast with Andrew McKee. We've been a bit lax about recording those. We wanted to get out an episode before Dragon Con. Though we were also recording video concert for Dragon Con. We had a very productive day. 2:04 - VIDEOS The video situation is still kind of on hold right now. I have a lot of things on my plate. So it's just on the back burner. And I must say, it feels good to focus on music creation. More about that in a moment. I did look a couple past video concerts to see if I could find any singles I wanted to release. But I had no luck there. My Coffee show is coming back. I am planning to relaunch the show on Thursdays, starting September 10 at noon. It looks like everything I do ends up on Thursday. For better or worse, that seems like the best day for me. So I'll see what I can do to stick to that new date and time. I am debating rebranding the show title. Maybe something like Coffee with Celts or Coffee n Celts... or maybe even using Sci F'Irish music... I don't know. All I know is I never drink coffee during the show. It was always a bad time. So we shall see... I am actually recording video concerts though. That's because Dragon Con is Labor Day weekend. I plan to have some pre-recorded shows for that. I might do a live stream too. But we shall see. There will be some Brobdingnagian Bards live streams. But I'm working out details right now. I'm still brainstorming a Musical TV Show idea. It's sort of like the Firefly Drinking Songs show from Gen Con and will also be at Dragon Con. But I can't come up with a concept I love. And that makes sense. Hopefully, I'll figure something out. Oh! And Andrew McKee was finally able to setup our computers to stream live. And it's sounding pretty amazing so far. Hopefully, he and I can have some live concerts together in the future. But we have several planned for Dragon Con. 4:45 - IN THE STUDIO I feel like I am creating a lot of new music. It feels good to closes some loops on new and old music. I have six songs currently in the works for my next CD Selcouth. I'm waiting on instrumentation for three others. And I have one that still needs a final mix. All in all, I'm proud how the CD is progressing. I still hope to release it to my Kickstarter supporters by October or November. I'm also excited about my release schedule. I have a bunch of new releases coming soon. Last week, I released "Hobbit Hornpipe". That's the first single from the album Dancing With Hobbits with Sam Gillogly. We hope to release a hobbit dance CD next year. We're gonna try and release a new single every month. I am proudly re-releasing St Patrick's Day. Formerly known as Not Every Day Is St Patrick's Day, I pulled the album from the net in August because the album has not done nearly as well as I hoped. There are many reasons for this. But the album will be back in time for Halfway to St Patrick's Day. I added three new songs to the album. And there's one new recording of a previous song. And a couple remixes. You can get the album now on Bandcamp. But it will be streaming everywhere come September 7th. The physical CD is pending... I have to make a decision how to release that. On September 22nd, my next single with Sam Gillogly comes out. It's called "Brandywine River Reel". And it's a fun one! Another good hobbit dance tune. October 7th is the official release of "Together". This is the Celtic rock song I recorded a couple months back. There's a big KrabbeConnect convention happening on the weekend of October 10th. So the song will be available just in time for the big event! 7:30 - MERCH Every Friday since the pandemic started, Bandcamp has waived all of their profits for items purchased in the store. If you're looking for a time to support my music... well, anytime is good. But if you want to maximize my income, buy any time on Friday, September 4 at magerecords.com. 7:59 - CELTIC TRAVEL I opened the 2021 Celtic Invasion of Scotland to past invaders. As expected, I am flooded with no responses. I guess some could be mailing application forms. But again, this is what I expect. I realize many of the challenges of hosting a trip in Scotland while we're still in the middle of a pandemic. Should we wear masks? Will the country let us in? Will there be a vaccine? Will the U.K. require a quarantine period? It's bizarre. But yes. Masks will probably be necessary. It's totally dependent on entry into the country. And if a vaccine is available, I will might require invaders to be vaccinated. As for the quarantine period, who knows... Nevertheless, we are booked for June 5-12, 2021. And if my family and I can go stay at the castle in Helensburgh, Scotland, we will. I do hope I have others joining us though. - WEBSITES Not much is new for the Irish Song Lyrics website. Slipped out of my priorities. I still need to do the lyrics for the latest Pub Songs Podcast episodes. 9:16 - SHOWS PLANNED FOR SEPTEMBER THURS: Coffee with The Celtfather, YouTube (Season 6) @ 12:00 PM EST SEP 2: Brobdingnagian Bards Concert with Dragon Con Filk Music Track @ 8:00-9:00 PM ET SEP 4: Brobdingnagian Bards Concert with Dragon Con Filk Music Track @ 4:00-5:00 PM ET SEP 4: Dragon Con TV presents Firefly Drinking Songs w/Marc Gunn @ 10:00-11:00 PM ET SEP 5: Marc Gunn Concert with Dragon Con Filk Music Track @ 2:30-3:30 PM ET SEP 5: Andrew McKee Concert with Dragon Con Filk Music Track @ 4:00-5:00 PM ET SEP 6: Songs Lyrics I Wish I Rewrote But Didn't [Panel] w/Marc Gunn @ 1:00-2:00 PM ET SEP 6: Writing Music w/Andrew McKee [Panel] @ 2:30-3:30 PM ET SEP 6: Hobbit Drinking Songs with Brobdingnagian Bards for Dragon Con High Fantasy Track @ 8:30-9:30 PM ET SEP 7: Promoting Your Music With Podcasting [Panel] w/Marc Gunn @ 1:00-2:00 PM ET SEP 7: Pub Songs Podcast Live with Dragon Con Digital Media Track @ 2:00-3:00 PM ET SEP 17: Halfway to St Patrick's Day at Tucker Brewing Company in Tucker GA @ 6:30 - 9:30 PM EDT 14:74 - STATS Mailing list subscribers = 1171 is up from 1158 Celtic Music Magazine = 4003 is the same as last month YouTube Subscribers = 4738 is up 63 from 4675 Facebook Likes = 3755 is up from 3754 Instagram = 1838 is up from 1832 Spotify followers: 1608 is up 29 from 1579 # Number of listens on Spotify: 2280 is up from 2090 Spotify Latest Single Stats: "Hobbit Hornpipe": 18 Most-popular songs on Spotify: The Widow and the Devil (1.4K), Doctor of Gallifrey (501), Hero of Canton (366), A-Working in the Garden (292), Reavers, Malcolm, Reavers (241) Most-popular songs on Amazon Music: Doctor of Gallifrey (233), Hero of Canton (186), The Widow and the Devil (167), Scots Wha Hae (56), I'm A Rover, Seldom Sober (42) 18:38 - PATREON Patreon Subscribers: 159 is up from 158 Patreon Monthly Income: $1178 is down from $1191 Thanks as always for supporting my music.
