Millions of American women are buying guns for self-protection. If you are one of them, or plan to be, Paxton Quigley urges you to arm yourself with information and train with experts so that you can safely defend yourself and your loved ones against any potential violence. Reading this book is the perfect place to start. There are more guns than there are people in the United States. Guns are a fact of life here because of the Second Amendment. Many Americans love their guns, while plenty of other Americans loathe them. Gun sales jumped during the early months of the Pandemic, and continued to rise even after the country returned to work. First-time buyers made up more than 20% of all purchases. Gun violence and intimate partner violence statistics are inseparable, affecting millions of women, families and communities. Because of this harsh reality, many women who would never dream of owning a firearm have joined the ranks of first-time gun owners.Federal background checks for gun purchases hit an all-time high of twenty-one-million in 2020, and almost ten million of these new purchasers were women. If you're one of these women, or if you're considering joining the millions of American women who've taken their lives and personal safety into their own hands, Armed & Female II: Never an Easy Target will help guide you—from making the initial decision to choosing the right firearm and finding the right path for learning how to shoot and care for your gun.Because when it comes to self-defense, what you don't know can hurt you.Paxton Quigley, author of the best seller Armed and Female, is a highly regarded authority on guns and security. Shashi Tharoor is a member of the Indian Parliament from the Thiruvananthapuram constituency in Kerala. He previously served as the United Nations Under-Secretary General for Communications and Public Information and as the Indian Minister of State for External Affairs. He is also a prolific author, columnist, journalist and a human rights advocate. He has served on the Board of Overseers of the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. He is also an adviser to the International Committee of the Red Cross in Geneva and a Fellow of the New York Institute of the Humanities at New York University. He has also served as a trustee of the Aspen Institute, and the Advisory of the Indo-American Arts Council, the American India Foundation, the World Policy Journal, the Virtue Foundation and the human rights organization Breakthrough He is also a Patron of the Dubai Modern High School and the managing trustee of the Chandran Tharoor Foundation which he founded with his family and friends in the name of his late father, Chandran Tharoor. Tharoor has written numerous books in English. Most of his literary creations are centred on Indian themes and they are markedly “Indo-nostalgic.” Perhaps his most famous work is The Great Indian Novel, published in 1989, in which he uses the narrative and theme of the famous Indian epic Mahabharata to weave a satirical story of Indian life in a non-linear mode with the characters drawn from the Indian Independence Movement. His novel Show Business (1992) was made into the film 'Bollywood'(1994). The late Ismail Merchant had announced his wish to make a film of Tharoor's novel Riot shortly before Merchant's death in 2005. Tharoor has been a highly-regarded columnist in each of India's three best-known English-language newspapers, most recently for The Hindu newspaper (2001–2008) and in a weekly column, “Shashi on Sunday,” in the Times of India (January 2007 – December 2008). Following his resignation as Minister of State for External Affairs, he began a fortnightly column on foreign policy issues in the "Deccan Chronicle". Previously he was a columnist for the Gentleman magazine and the Indian Express newspaper, as well as a frequent contributor to Newsweek International and the International Herald Tribune. His Op-Eds and book reviews have appeared in the Washington Post, the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times, amongst other papers. Tharoor began writing at the age of 6 and his first published story appeared in the “Bharat Jyoti”, the Sunday edition of the "Free press Journal", in Mumbai at age 10. His World War II adventure novel Operation Bellows, inspired by the Biggles books, was serialized in the Junior Statesman starting a week before his 11th birthday. Each of his books has been a best-seller in India. The Great Indian Novel is currently in its 28th edition in India and his newest volume. The Elephant, the Tiger and the Cellphone has undergone seven hardback re-printings there. Tharoor has lectured widely on India, and is often quoted for his observations, including, "India is not, as people keep calling it, an underdeveloped country, but rather, in the context of its history and cultural heritage, a highly developed one in an advanced state of decay.". He has also coined a memorable comparison of India's "thali" to the American "melting pot": "If America is a melting pot, then to me India is a thali--a selection of sumptuous dishes in different bowls. Each tastes different, and does not necessarily mix with the next, but they belong together on the same plate, and they complement each other in making the meal a satisfying repast.” In this masterclass we cover - 1. The art of sharing timeless wisdom through aphorisms 2. Frameworks on resilience, grit and navigating difficult times 3. Mental models on success, leadership and happiness

DISCLAIMER: This is an unofficial summary and analysis. About Fareed Zakariahttps://geni.us/fareed-zakaria (Fareed Zakaria) is an Indian-American journalist, political commentator, and author. He is the host of CNN's Fareed Zakaria GPS and writes a weekly column for The Washington Post. He has been a columnist for Newsweek, editor of Newsweek International, and an editor at large of Time. He is the author of multiple books, including The Post-American World, and In Defense Of A Liberal Education. Several of his books have been New York Best Sellers, and he has also won the National Magazine Award.  Zakaria has a Ph.D. in government from Harvard University, and he was born in India. He won the India Abroad person of the year in 2008, and he holds honorary degrees from multiple universities, including the University of Miami, Johns Hopkins University, and more.  Introductionhttps://geni.us/zakaria-free-audiobook (Ten Lessons For a Post-Pandemic World) foresees the nature of a post-pandemic world. It considers the political, social, technological, and economic consequences that may take years to unfold. In his ten “lessons,” Fareed Zakaria invites us to think about how we are truly social animals with community and cooperation embedded in our nature. He also concludes by considering the degree to which nothing is written, and the future is truly in our own hands. StoryShot #1: The First Lesson is to Buckle UpTechnology has advanced considerably over the last few decades. However, instead of stopping and thinking about how we can keep ourselves safe, we have just continued to expand. Zakaria describes this as humans having built the fastest sports car ever imaginable. However, we are driving it into the unknown with no seatbelts on. We haven't equipped any airbags, and we haven't purchased any insurance. Driving this sports car makes us feel innovative, modern, and powerful, but we do experience crashes along the way. Crucially, these crashes are getting worse with time. Despite these crashes, we still haven't stopped to consider the safety precautions we require. Instead, we simply pull the vehicle over, tune-up the suspension, and fix the engine. We continue to make our cars faster and faster, and yet we allow ourselves to be left in more profound danger. Zakaria believes the pandemic is an example of a massive crash. We should not continue our unsustainable expansion after the pandemic. Instead, we should use this as an opportunity to contemplate the safety precautions we need to implement. We need to buckle up. “Outbreaks are inevitable but pandemics are optional.”– LARRY BRILLIANT, QUOTED BY FAREED ZAKARIAStoryShot #2: The Second Lesson is to Improve the Quality of GovernmentAmerica wrongly believed it was too powerful to ever collapse financially and politically. However, the pandemic has proven us all wrong. Many people have started to associate COVID-19 with political polarization and economic dysfunction, with businesses in turmoil and major debates on both sides about the best way to handle the situation. America may remain the most powerful nation for military personnel, but this all means nothing if the lives of America's average citizens are in danger.  America is becoming more inward-looking and obsessed with being patriotic. In doing so, it is missing out on the opportunity to influence world politics and stand at the forefront of innovation. Most of the world has regarded America as a beacon

How is your congregation interacting with interfaith families? What are clergy doing to be more inclusive of interfaith families in the congregations? Children in interfaith families can be taught both religions. This allows youth to explore and experience a wealth of tradition and culture inside their families. Bio: Author and journalist Susan Katz Miller is both an interfaith child and an interfaith parent. Her father is Jewish, her mother is Protestant: she grew up in Reform Judaism. After marrying a Protestant, Miller and her husband decided to raise their children in both religions, in a community of interfaith families. Miller served as Board Co-Chair of the Interfaith Families Project of Greater Washington DC. Miller graduated from Brown University, and began her journalism career at Newsweek in New York. After working in the Los Angeles and Washington bureaus, she moved to Dakar, Senegal for three years. While there, she wrote travel pieces for the New York Times, was tear-gassed in the streets while covering an election, interviewed the President of Senegal for Newsweek International, and wrote Christian Science Monitor pieces from Benin, Togo, the Gambia, and Sierra Leone. On returning to the States, she became a US Correspondent for the British weekly magazine New Scientist. She then spent three years freelancing from northeastern Brazil. After her two children were born, she and her husband settled in the Washington, DC, area, and she founded the first blog devoted to interfaith family communities and interfaith identity, onbeingboth.com, and began blogging at Huffington Post Religion. Miller’s writing has also appeared in Time, Slate, Utne Reader, Discover, Science, National Wildlife, Health, Moment, Jewcy.com, interfaithfamily.com, and many other publications. We are always talking about how some area of our lives has been changed by creative destruction. We know that it’s widespread and impactful. In fact, even dictators today have felt the results of this creative destruction. It’s much harder and more complex to be a dictator today. Dictatorships have had to become more sophisticated and savvy. Brutal repression has been largely replaced with subtle coercion. But at the same time, the individuals challenging dictatorships have also evolved. And while popular movements may seem spontaneous and romantic, they are in reality very strategic and organized, sometimes for years before we pay any attention. Journalist William Dobson, foreign affairs editor of Slate and a former editor at Foreign Affairs, Newsweek International and Foreign Policy, has been looking deeply into these changes. He argues in his book The Dictator's Learning Curve: Inside the Global Battle for Democracy, that ultimately dictators cannot learn or adapt as quickly as the forces that oppose them. Additionally, he has written prolifically for The London Review of Books, Granta, Harper's, The Los Angeles Times Book Review, New Left Review, The New York Review of Books, Newsweek International, The Times Literary Supplement, and The Washington Post. He is also a regular television and radio commentator. In this conversation with D.J. Grothe, Hitchens discusses his new best-selling book God Is Not Great, which is his contribution to the recent slate of best-selling atheist titles. He also explores various strategies for challenging religiosity in our society, the immorality of the Bible, how religion is bad for one's health, his many recent public debates with believers, and what he calls the war between the West and Islamism. He also comments on the relationship between atheism and intelligence, atheism and great literature, and the need for a "New Enlightenment."
