Thursday, May 29 - Dr. Jack Stockwell (www.forbiddendoctor.com & www.jackstockwell.com | Phone: 866-867-5070), a GAPS Practitioner and NUCCA Chiropractor, discusses the biggest concerns for health and medical news from a natural position over prescription drugs. He starts today's episode with the beginnings of his relationship with Doug Stephan before getting into the biggest topics in health and wellness news from a holistic point of view, including the benefits of breastmilk, the harmful side of baby formula, and why he opposes vaccines for newborns. Next, Dr. Jack gets into nutrients for the mother in your life and his own “Jack's Pack for Mom” that can help with skin, hair and nails — which you can find at ForbiddenDoctor.com or by calling 801.523.1890 and tell them you want the May Special Jack's Pack for Mom. Circling back to the breastmilk conversation, Dr. Jack shares the benefits of breastfeeding for mothers who breastfeed, including an improved bond between mother and baby, a quicker recovery of postpartum hormones, slashes risk of longterm diseases, and more. To round out the conversation, Doug and Dr. Jack conversate on how an adjustment of the upper cervical spine can benefit problems resulting from stress, the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system, the problem our diets cause in terms of metabolic stress, and the importance of eating foods that are closer to what mother nature intended. If these topics are distressing for you, you may wish to skip this episode or listen with support. Relevant Aotearoa/NZ helplines are accessible at the bottom of these show notes.Naomi's story is a troubling, heart-wrenching listen. She bravely lets us in on the abuse and trauma she endured as a young first-time mum in a violent relationship with a manipulative man who would later become her husband. Together they had two more children, both healing home births, but the domestic abuse continued. One day, whilst working a shift as a midwife, Naomi spotted a brochure that stated, “family violence changes the brains of our children.” This realisation was the final straw for Naomi. She knew she needed to protect her babies from growing up in this abusive household, and she left their dad for the final time. He still had contact with the children, though no formal parental agreement was instated. Fuelled by anger and jealousy, when he discovered Naomi had met a new man, he took the children and told her she wouldn't be getting them back. The police could do nothing. Naomi desperately tried to get her children safely back into her care. But after many months of battling the system, and despite a clear history of abuse, including multiple protection orders, Naomi ultimately lost custody of her children to her violent ex. She was utterly powerless to protect her babies, something that nearly killed her.Find out how Naomi not only found the will to live, but went on to have another baby to a beautiful man, and now works to help heal the hearts of other wounded mothers. Her story is both deeply disturbing and profoundly inspiring. Also discussed in this episode:* contemplating abortion* protection orders for physical and psychological violence* pressured into medical pain relief - Pethidine & Epidural* lack of bond with newborn* Raynaud's Syndrome (breastfeeding)* pressured to give formula to baby* Postnatal depression & anxiety* Maternal Mental Health support - Aropax* CBT* Nursing & midwifery training* Siblings at birth* Gambling addiction* Court appointed psychologist (bias towards father)* contemplating suicide* Mama's Tribe * Healing Birth Practitioner Training* 42 week pregnancy* PROM & meconium stained waters* Syntocinon* healing & empowering cesarean* Wise Women Network NZ* sleep consultancy - responsive settling* postpartum sleep deprivationAotearoa/NZ HelplinesLifeline - 0800 543 354 or free text HELP to 4357Women's Refuge 24/7 Crisis Line - 0800 REFUGE (0800 733 843)Shine (DV support) - 0508 744 6331737 - Need to talk? Dr. Hansen's lab conducted several in vitro experiments where choline chloride was supplemented to beef embryo culture media for the first seven days of embryonic development. Calves resulting from the choline-supplemented embryos were consistently 17-20 kilograms heavier at weaning. In the feeding experiment presented at the Florida Ruminant Nutrition Symposium, Dr. Sagheer fed rumen-protected choline to beef cows one day before AI through seven days post-AI, spanning ovulation, fertilization, and the first seven days of embryo development. In contrast to the in vitro studies, calves born to cows supplemented with choline during the peri-conception period were lighter at weaning than control calves. The panel discusses potential mechanisms of action for these results, including choline's role as a methyl donor potentially impacting the epigenetic programming of the embryo.

Becoming a parent is often described as one of the most life-changing experiences, filled with love, excitement, and a whole new level of responsibility. But alongside the joy, many new mums experience emotional highs and lows, sometimes more intense than expected. It's completely natural to feel a mix of emotions, but for some, those low moments don't just come and go; they linger and deepen. Postnatal depression (PND) can develop anytime within the first year after birth, often appearing in those early months. In this episode of The Happier Life Project, released just in time for Mother's Day in the UK, we welcome back My Possible Self contributor Chlo Hodgkinson — a personal trainer, women's diet, fitness, and hormones coach, and founder of Chlo & Co Media, a social media company dedicated to the fitness and wellness space. Chlo shares her remarkable journey from pregnancy to parenthood, reflecting on everything from coming to terms with the big news and preparing for a smooth labour, to navigating the emotional challenges of caring for a newborn. She also discusses her experience with postnatal depression, which emerged at the five-month mark and, according to the NHS, affects over 1 in 10 women, sharing how she gradually reclaimed her well-being. Chlo candidly addresses the pervasive mum guilt she continually struggled with, the societal pressure to ‘bounce back' after giving birth, and how she protected herself from the overwhelming social media content directed at new mums. With host Gabby, Chlo also talks about how she found balance between her thriving career and the demands of motherhood, offering listeners an inspiring message of resilience and self-compassion. Through her honest account, we aim to provide understanding, support, and solidarity for mums everywhere. Whether you're a new parent navigating similar challenges or supporting someone through their postpartum journey, tune in for heartfelt insights, practical advice, and the reassurance that it's okay to ask for help. In this deeply personal episode, I open up about my experience with postnatal depression - one of the hardest and loneliest times of my life. That’s why I’m now so passionate about raising awareness, breaking the stigma, and making sure no mother feels unseen or unheard. If you’re a new mum, know someone who is, or just want to understand postnatal mental health better - this episode is for you. Send us a textComing in at #2 on our list of top podcasts for 2024 is my conversation with Munira Hudani.Today I speak with Munira Hudani, a Pre- and Post-Natal physiotherapist in Canada, and an emerging leader for the management of Diastasis Rectus Abdominis. After years of frustration in landing inconsistent results with her clients, and the dissatisfaction in having to say “we just don't have enough research right now,” Munira began to challenge the conventional method to managing DRA. She realized that part of the inconsistent results came down to how DRA was being conceptualized. She started practicing with a different set of principles which improved outcomes. From a physical perspective, what's okay and what's not? Should we be doing all the latest treatments? Are we allowed? Listen in for a vulnerable conversation with Ashley Keller, a Prenatal and Postnatal exercise specialist and the founder of GlowBodyPT, on aging gracefully from a Biblical perspective.

McLean is a mother of two, wife, Motherhood Coach, Postpartum Doula, Birth Educator, Certified Pre + Postnatal Yoga & Pilates Teacher, Certified Nutritionist, Hypnosis & Reiki Practitioner, Frequency Guide, Circle Leader and Sound Bath Facilitator. She became a Postpartum Doula in order to embody the help that she didn't realize she needed after the birth of her first daughter in 2011. Becoming a Postpartum Doula led her to her truest passion- to support women during their rite of passage from Maiden to Mother. She believes that Postpartum Care not only helps the new Mama heal, but also sets the entire family up to thrive. Through her Postpartum Coaching and Doula work, she helps couples come together, not drift apart. Mothers do not exist in a vacuum. And so we must look to the foundation of the entire family unit as a means for maternal health in mind, body and spirit. McLean bows down to all of her incredible women in her life and mama friends who have held her up, made her laugh to tears, supported her work vision, inspired her and created space for immense healing. And most importantly, she thanks her two biggest teachers- her daughters Jemima and Goldy Wolf who launched her greatest adventure, to be their Mother.
