La Dra. Sandra Cárdenas nos explica la metodología para construir un ECOE para evaluar a los residentes de acuerdo al nivel de avance en la especialidad.

Com o objetivo de oferecer uma visão geral da diversidade e sobre a produção dos povos indígenas, especialmente do Brasil, nos campos da pesquisa acadêmica e da criação artística, foi realizado nesta segunda (3) e terça-feiras (4), no Collège de France, em Paris, o segundo simpósio internacional sobre povos indígenas. O evento “Ciências Vivas: Perspectivas Indígenas no Mundo da Pesquisa e das Artes” recebeu, dentre outros cientistas e pesquisadores da área, também palestrantes indígenas em intercâmbio na França através do plano de mobilidade acadêmica internacional voltado para os povos originários no Brasil, o programa Guatá. Idjahure Kadiwel, carioca de origem terena e kadiwéu, e doutorando na USP, foi um dos participantes. Ele declamou um poema autoral no primeiro dia do evento para introduzir o tema das estratégias de luta pela demarcação de território e direitos civis do povo indígena.“Eu acho que a arte é muito importante porque é aquela coisa que não tem fronteiras, barreiras ou limitações, para tocar o coração das pessoas, para abrir a mente das pessoas. Cinema, poesia, artes visuais, música, tudo serve para a gente ser afetado e afetar”, declarou Idjahure Kadiwel. “É importante quando a gente consegue trazer um pouco de uma consciência diferente por meio desses trabalhos, dessas obras, esses eventos assim. O limite é a própria criatividade não só nas artes, mas como o colóquio propõe esse mundo da pesquisa das artes”, disse o cientista social em entrevista à RFI. Idjahure Kadiwel também destacou a importância da inserção dos indígenas no meio acadêmico. “A gente ouviu aqui pesquisas muito originais dos nossos colegas antropólogos indígenas. Então é isso que a gente está tentando compartilhar, um pouco dessa novidade que é uma novidade também para o Brasil. Ter os indígenas na pós-graduação, no doutorado. Uma novidade da última década, talvez, esse aumento exponencial. Então, a gente estar desenvolvendo esse trabalho aqui na França, em Paris, já é uma outra etapa dessa história”, comemora. Acampamento Terra LivreO filme “Nosso modo de lutar”, exibido durante o evento no Collège de France, mostra os encontros intergeracionais que acontecem anualmente no movimento indígena brasileiro conhecido como ATL (Acampamento Terra Livre, o maior ato da luta dos povos originários latino-americanos, em Brasília).Uma das diretoras do curta, a liderança indígena Francy Baniwa, original do povo medzeniako da região do Alto Rio Negro, que é doutora em antropologia pela UFRJ e cursa pós-doutorado na USP, comentou sobre a perspectiva feminina no filme e na luta indígena.“Essa presença das mulheres agora que estão com câmeras nas mãos, que estão produzindo cinema, que é um olhar diferente, que é de dentro para fora, de sair dessa coisa ocidental. A gente tem visto que de fato é um diferencial quando é feito e produzido por mulheres, mas também uma ferramenta que tem nos proporcionado essa luta de demarcação através de uma câmera, que também é uma ferramenta de luta e de resistência. Para você poder registrar, você poder denunciar. Então ela [a câmera] tem se tornado o arco e flecha nessa questão do registro de conhecimentos”, enfatizou Francy Baniwa. A força da pesquisa acadêmica na demarcação justa de terrasA ativista Juliana Amanayara Tupinambá, em intercâmbio de doutorado na Universidade Sorbonne Nouvelle, em Paris, e palestrante nos dois dias do simpósio em Paris, reforçou a relevância da presença indígena no meio acadêmico internacional para combater a implementação Marco Temporal. “É de suma importância porque já era um movimento que a gente tinha nacionalmente. No Brasil, então, quando surge a lei de cotas, é a porta para os indígenas ingressarem na universidade. E aí com muitas lutas a gente consegue não só ingressar, mas permanecer nesses espaços e também trazer a nossa própria epistemologia indígena para dentro desses espaços. Atravessar esse mar Atlântico para chegar aqui na Europa e trazer também os nossos projetos de pesquisa é também um ato de militância para buscar formas de defender os direitos indígenas”, afirma.A cientista explica que “através de uma pesquisa antropológica” do território é possível documentar oficialmente ao governo, para “ajudar na própria demarcação do território”. “Hoje temos advogados indígenas que defenderam na corte brasileira o porquê os territórios não se aplicam ao Marco temporal. O decreto 1775, que é o decreto da demarcação indígena, não tem que ser seguido com a tese do Marco temporal. Sandra estuda as semelhanças entre a presença da mulher francesa nas revoluções territoriais camponesas e a mulher indígena como elemento essencial nos conflitos territoriais em solo brasileiro. “As conquistas de Napoleão Bonaparte aqui, a expansão territorial dele aqui afetou diretamente o conflito territorial lá no Brasil e em 1850 foi decretada a lei de terras que consolidou a perda dos nossos territórios. Qual que é a importância de estar aqui? Para ampliar essa visão geral do conflito territorial aonde nós mulheres estamos inseridas. As mulheres francesas são revolucionárias, são fortes e foram as mulheres francesas com crianças, bem parecido quando a gente vai para as retomadas, que vão os velhos, os anciãos, jovem, moça, rapaz, criança, mulher, criança de colo, amamentando, vai todo mundo para a retomada”, exemplifica a geógrafa. Igualmente em doutorado na UFGD, Anastácio Peralta também enfatiza a importância do intercâmbio para seu projeto acadêmico, para a luta indígena e seus objetivos pessoais.“Os estudos também apontam algum novo caminho. Uma pesquisa de conhecimento nosso mesmo, conhecimento indígena, conhecimento Guarani Kaiowá. Isso traz para nós uma fonte de novo renascer. Esse intercâmbio traz para nós também a possibilidade de estar contando para alguém de fora que nós temos problema no Brasil, que talvez futuramente, com a globalização, podemos ter um resultado de parceria, de apoio intelectual, de apoio de denúncia. O intercâmbio traz essa força e os novos amigos e conhecimento que estamos conquistando”, relata Peralta. O evento “Ciências Vivas: Perspectivas Indígenas no Mundo da Pesquisa e das Artes” foi realizado a partir de uma iniciativa da Comissão Nacional Francesa para a UNESCO, da Embaixada da França no Brasil e da Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (Fapesp) em parceria com o Laboratório de Antropologia Social (LAS) e a sua equipe de Antropologia Linguística.

Comstock, Executive Director of Hygiene4All, to discuss how Hygiene4All came about and what they do, how the pandemic has affected the local houseless community, what the landscape of resources looks like now, and how folks can engage to support Hygiene4All's mission. They also address the City of Portland's plan to tackle the homelessness crisis by building city-sanctioned camps. For those unaware, Multnomah County recently voted to approve a plan to spend more on homeless services, and their plan did not include funds for such camps. The camps are still planned to be built, but Multnomah County will not pay for them. Debra and Sandra talk through how these camps will cause undue harm to those who are already most marginalized. “To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.” - Oscar WildeLike millions of others, I was hit hard by the tragic news that dominated this week’s news headlines. As I cycled through alternating waves of shock, grief, and curiosity, going down a wormhole of Kobe’s life, I was suddenly struck by an overwhelming, uneasy sense of my own impending mortality. If someone like Kobe - who had the accomplishments, the wealth, and the adoration of millions of fans - could not achieve immortality, what chance did I have?A chill ran down my spine, “I am going to die.” I thought helplessly. ‘Just like every other human being on this earth, I am also going to die.’ This is the one fight over which I have absolutely no control - that no one can control - and in a weird way it made me feel grateful for my life, connected to every other human who ever lived, dreamed, loved, and died. I don’t know if anyone is ever truly ready for death, but I do know that we are all hurtling towards the same destination at a rate of 60 min/hour, whether we like it or not. As they say:“Life’s a wild ride, and none of us are getting out of here alive.”There’s a common thought experiment, ‘If you had only one year left to live, what would you do?’ Often though, our reckless answers to this question would be unrealistic for a sober day-to-day existence that must take into consideration longer term consequences. So I adjusted it and asked myself:If you only had five years left to live, what would you do differently?Five years is an interesting length of time because it’s still long enough to accomplish something significant, long enough that you have to consider medium-term implications of your actions, but short enough that you tangibly feel the urgency. I want to invite you to take a moment to consider this question for yourself, and if you feel so inclined, I’d love to hear your thoughts in this discussion thread: My own answer to this question surprised me. It took a few days to articulate it because I had to allow my labels to fall back and differentiate between ‘Is my ego speaking or is my true spirit speaking?’ And it came out in a waterfall of thoughts that I shared with my best friend over text. While I considered editing this, I thought it’d be more powerful to share in its raw form. A text to my best friend: “The first things that occurred to me is what I would stop.... and I started crying when I realized this, weirdly I’m crying now as I type this... I would stop pushing so hard, I would stop fighting against the world - like OMG I fight and push myself so hard - and for once I’d like to just give myself a break and just enjoy life… and this made think, fuck do I even enjoy life? or am I running through it, fighting some imaginary competitor for some imaginary prize? And I’m so, SO tired.…and then I thought, Who am I trying to prove something to? Why do I always need to prove something, that I’m better, faster, stronger? First, I would let this part of me go, I think. And focus on letting love in, on savoring things like amazing bites of food, traveling to awesome places, watching incredible movies with people I loved who would want to talk about them after, and dissect the themes, and how it makes them think about their own life.I would find time each day to read phenomenal books, especially ones that had withstood the test of time - and ideally I’d have someone to discuss it with after as well. I would just learn, and grow and enrich myself with incredible stories... through books, movies, as well as with other fuck yes people. I would take less pictures, maybe just have a Polaroid so that each picture has more meaning… I would take more short videos so I could relive especially great moments. (Essentially, I’d be recording moments for my own joy and not for social media) I would stop putting up with bullshit and just leave if something wasn’t bringing me joy, I would be very protective of my time - who I give it to, no more “coffee to pick your brain,” I would really ignore all the fuckboys and anyone who is playing around. I would not put up with disrespect in any form. Instead I would seek people out who believed in respect, kindness, depth, and have a similar sense of wonder, and way of living life.I would take more mushrooms and just stare at the sky and hold hands with my partner.I would immediately throw out the majority of my stuff, clothes, anything that didn’t bring me joy and redecorate my room so every day I would come home and it would be beautiful and airy and me! I would write in my gratitude journal AND my self love journal at the little alter of life I would erect at the side of my bed, and actually mean and feel what I was truly grateful for in the world and in myself. I would get up early to catch the sunrise, nap in the middle of the day, and have incredible long dinners full of wine and cocktails. I would always be warm (no more cold weather).I think if I left one book that affected people long after I died, and started a school that helped thousands of children - and made a contribution to how people thought about their lives, helped them live a bit more free and happier, I’d feel I made my mark… But even if that didn’t happen, I would want to live a life where I felt truly enriched and that I had made a positive impact on those I spent time with. I guess what I’m really getting at and what I’ve known deep down already is that, happiness for me lies in my freedom - to grow, explore, live unencumbered by so many societal things I feel weighted down by now. And perhaps in writing this whole thing, I’ve just realized that I need to make some major changes... starting with throwing out all the things in my room that are making me unhappy, to create room in my life to read, write, and just be warm.”How would you live differently if you only had five years to live?🎧 GLOW Episode 15: Healing From TragedyOn this week’s Global League of Women Podcast, I talk to renowned holistic health coach Beth Nydick about why it can feel so shameful to be vulnerable - especially as we become more successful in your career - and why ultimately, we must embrace it as the first step towards healing. Are you an agreeable person—you know, a nice guy? If so, a logical follow-up might be: how are your finances? And here's why: "Agreeable peoplehave lower savings, they have higher debt, and they're also more likely to go bankrupt or default on their loans." Sandra Matz is a computational social scientist at the Columbia Business School in New York City. Using a combination of questionnaires and bank data, she and her colleague Joe Gladstone found that people who score as more agreeable on personality tests have a better chance of ending up in dire financial straits—especially if they are low-income to begin with. The researchers also combined personality data on millions of people in the US and the UK with regional data on how many people were unable to pay their debts. And they found, again, that the nicer a county or local area's people on average, the worse their finances. Matz thinks a factor could be that agreeable people just don't care much about money. Maybe they pick up the tab more often, or loan money when they can't afford to. They're generous to a fault. So how do you get them to wise up? "One way we could reframe this is saying, don't care about money just for yourself, but care about it for your family, care about it for the people you love. Because if you mismanage your money it's not just going to affect you, but it's also going to affect all the people you care about, and that you love deeply." Which might translate agreeable people's superpower—caring about other people—into better financial sense. "Then it's a matter of negotiating, then it should be more equally distributed. At Rosie's Place, guests are treated with dignity and respect, and given access to resources designed to improve their lives. One of these resources is an English language class done in partnership with the music therapy program at the Berklee College of Music in which music is part of the core curriculum.
