However, advancements in modern techniques have demonstrated that LDR brachytherapy, a procedure that can be performed quite easily in an ambulatory surgery center, offers high cure rates with minimal long-term complications, making it a convenient, non-invasive option for men with prostate cancer. Today, we chat with Dr. Steven Kurtzman and Dr. Ankit Agarwal, two distinguished radiation oncologists working to expand access to LDR brachytherapy by partnering with urologists to establish new programs across the United States.  Drs. Kurtzman and Agarwal are national leaders in targeted real-time intraoperative planned brachytherapy. With over 7,000 implants performed in the past two decades and more than 700 procedures conducted annually, they have managed to preserve this specialized technique despite its limited expansion in recent years. Based primarily in the Bay Area, California, they provide exceptional cancer care while collaborating with urologists, medical oncologists, and prostate cancer specialists across the United States to assist in establishing LDR programs in ambulatory surgery centers nationwide to provide high-quality prostate cancer care. In this role, she supervises 18 schools in the cities of Sandy Springs, East Point, College Park, and Hapeville.  Prior to joining Fulton County, Dr. Henderson served as an instructional leadership director for the Oklahoma City Public Schools where she supervised 11 elementary schools, and in the St. Louis Public Schools, where she served as a principal, assistant principal, and special education teacher. Dr. Henderson has leveraged her 15 years of experience in developing leaders and transforming schools to support other educators across the country. She has been a presenter at national conferences, coaches new and emerging leaders, and most recently served as a keynote speaker at Our Voices Academy. During her tenure as principal, Dr. Henderson was awarded the 2012 St. Louis Metropolitan Urban League Young Professional of the Year, the 2013 St. Louis Public Schools Principal Pettus Award of Excellence, and the 2013 St. Louis American Salute to Excellence in Education Award. Dr. Henderson earned a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, an Ed.S. from the University of Missouri- Columbia, an M.Ed  from the University of Missouri- St. Louis and a B.A. from Spelman College. Try to be reasonable when pricing items and realize the value you put on them may not be what others do. Be realistic and sell things more often to avoid a big buildup like Jamie did.
