THANK YOU PATRONS OF THE PODCAST! Lads, lasses, and leprechauns of good taste—have I told you lately that you're absolutely legendary? Your generosity buys the music you love and gives me the time to carefully craft each episode—rather than just chucking in a tin whistle solo and hoping for the best. And as a patron, you're not just supporting the show—you're practically knighted by the Celtic music gods themselves. You get exclusive, ad - free, music - only episodes before anyone else (because you're fancy like that). You help shape the Celtic Top 20 with your votes. You unlock free music downloads, sheet music, and your very own private feed to listen your way—whether through Patreon or your favorite podcast app. All this for just $3 a month. That's right—less than the cost of one fancy coffee (or roughly 0.003% the cost of a pint in Dublin on St. Patrick's Day). And yet, that tiny sum keeps the music alive, keeps the community thriving, and keeps you at the very heart of it all. So join us today! Let's keep this music going forever—or at least until we all get distracted by a parade and a questionable amount of irish whiskey.

New evidence appears to challenge the narrative presented by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and Special Prosecutor Nathan Wade. The pair have steadfastly maintained that their personal relationship didn't commence until after Wade was brought aboard the DA's office in November 2021. Cell phone tracking data, however, seems to refute their claim, indicating Wade was a frequent visitor to Willis's residence in Hapeville, stopping by over 35 times. The incriminating evidence seems to suggest that if the cellular data is indeed precise, both Willis and Wade may have presented false information to the court, a misstep that could potentially have serious legal implications. A court document submitted by legal representatives of the 45th President, Donald Trump on Friday alleges that the aforementioned data indicates dishonesty on part of the two, and hence, the pair should be disqualified from proceeding with the RICO case against Trump and 18 other co-defendants. The document further elucidates that Charles Mittelstadt, a criminal defense investigator, employed the use of mobile cell towers to monitor the location of Wade's phone towards the end of 2021 – a point in time before he allegedly began his affair with Willis. For this purpose, Mittelstadt utilized the services of CellHawk, a highly regarded tool in the world of mobile data analysis familiar to many in law enforcement. The data gathered from the analysis suggests multiple instances where visits were made late at night; these visits often extended until the early hours of the morning. Contrastingly, Wade and Willis in their testimonies the previous week claimed that their meetings didn't extend overnight at Willis' residence. This potential inconsistency could prove perjury, a criminal offense of lying under oath. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

President Stephen Haines with Artisan Built Communities joins the Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio podcast to discuss new and upcoming communities and give updates on popular neighborhoods, including Heritage Pointe at The Georgian, Stratford at NatureWalk and Serenity in Hapeville. Haines joins host Carol Morgan on the All About Real Estate segment. A familiar face in the homebuilding industry, Haines has been a part of the industry from a very young age and has had the opportunity to work for many big builders throughout his 25-year career. He joined the Artisan Built Communities team four years ago and now leads the organization and its growth efforts. Founded in 2012, Artisan Built Communities specializes in constructing residences that buyers proudly call home. The builder takes special care to create stunning exteriors, focus on architecture and specialize in a home's finer touches. Haines said, “While we are a production builder, we like to build things that are a notch above and [Serenity] is no exception.” Serenity at Hapeville is a community located just north of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in a city made famous by General Motors and Chick-fil-A Founder S. Truett Cathy. The independent town extends across two-square miles and is well-known for its vibrant arts scene! A unique feature of the community, the Hapeville entrance is marked by a beautiful mural painted by a locally famous muralist known for his work across the metro area. Haines said, “The mural greets you as you come in and it sets the tone for what you're going to experience once you come inside.” A unique product that is very different from the builder's work in Paulding County, Serenity at Hapeville showcases attached two-story townhomes with only 25 available opportunities. The City of Hapeville influenced the first set of units to take on the look of a warehouse that has been a part of the Hapeville landscape for many years. The building bears the city name on both sides, with an exterior that takes inspiration from old factories and warehouses. The rest of the community's four buildings, with 21 units, surround a private pocket park to give residents the freedom to leave their homes to take their favorite furry friend for a walk close to home. A fire pit installation, perfect for community gatherings through the seasons, centers the green space. Many units feature a private patio, with a few enjoying an upstairs balcony! To complement the first set of units, the remaining four buildings embrace a retro-modern exterior detailed by brick siding, black windows and more. Two children were pulled from a partially frozen lake in Kennesaw after falling into the water, MDJ news partner Fox 5 reported. Authorities say one of two children has died, and the other is expected to survice. Cobb County fire said the children were playing on the lake when they fell into the water. A large police presence responded to the lake, located off Ellison Lakes Drive near Cobb Parkway, Fox 5 reported. Shortly before 5 p.m., residents reported seeing about a half-dozen children playing near the south side of the lake just off a trail that runs beside it. Alex Pollard says he was bringing groceries in when he noticed the children. Moments later, neighbors would report hearing screams. The two children had fallen through the ice. Pollard yelled for his roommate to call 911. The named and ages of the children were not released. Three members of Cobb Fire were also treated at the scene for cold exposure that they suffered when they entered the freezing water to try and rescue the second victim. Fire Department spokesperson Nick Danz urged people not to go out on frozen bodies of water, as it may be hard to know the thickness and sturdiness of the ice. A Marietta man was arrested Monday for allegedly molesting two children. Tyquan Kent, 38, is charged with 11 counts of child molestation, two counts of rape and one count of furnishing obscene materials to minors, all felonies. He is accused of molesting and raping an 8-year-old and 10-year-old sometime between August and December. A warrant for Kent's arrest said the alleged crimes took place at a Motel 6 on South Cobb Drive and a Red Roof Inn on Corporate Plaza Parkway in Smyrna. According to the warrant, a 7-year-old child was present when Kent allegedly molested the two children at the Red Roof Inn, resulting in an additional child molestation charge. Kent is being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond, according to jail records. In 2010, when Foxes and Fossils played their first gig, there were about 50 people in the audience. Most of crowd was there for pizza. A cohort of family members, church colleagues and friends helped swell the cheering section. And yet, said videographer Terry Heinlein, this group of supporters, filling up the seats at Bella's pizza parlor in Smyrna, was probably the largest bunch of fans that ever came to a Foxes and Fossils show just to see the band. Heinlein added that at all the other Foxes and Fossils gigs, at Twisted Taco and the Crafty Hog and Keswik Park, there were people there to see the band, but plenty of other people were there just for the barbecue. Vocalist Maggie Adams, one of the “Foxes,” was 16 years old at the time of the Bella's gig. She agreed: “We were mostly background music for pizza and tacos.” The “Foxes” were the young female members of the band, including Adams, Sammie Purcell and Chase Truron. They all grew up and went to college. The “Fossils,” including Sammie's father Tim Purcell, the founder of the band, recognized that without the Foxes, they weren't going to draw a crowd. The band essentially broke up. They existed only on YouTube, where Tim posted videos of their old performances. Quietly, those videos began to gain an audience. More than a year after they stopped performing, Foxes and Fossils started tasting fame and began earning revenue from their internet views and merchandise. Twelve years and 83 million YouTube views later, Foxes and Fossils is staging its first ticketed concert as a headliner. The most famous unknown cover band from Smyrna is charging $100 a seat for two shows, the first was last night and the second is tonight. That's what Billy Strings is charging at State Farm Arena. The venue is the Legendary Ford Hall, a 500-capacity facility in Hapeville that began as a car dealership and has served as a church. Both shows are almost sold out. Tickets can be purchased at Rebelity dot com. Pope got its second win over Kennesaw Mountain in a little over a week, defeating its county rival 55-47 in the first round of the Hounds Holiday Hoop Classic at Pope High School on Wednesday. The Greyhounds defeated the Mustangs 66-58 in the championship game of the Alpharetta-Pope Holiday Classic on Dec. 20. After a close first half, Pope pulled away from Kennesaw Mountain) in the third quarter to take control of the game and advance to the semifinals. Ryan Luttrell scored 20 points, including six 3-pointers, while Devin Royal added 10 points and Zach Bleshoy – who scored 36 points in the first game against Kennesaw Mountain – contributed nine points, despite playing with an injured back, to lead Pope. Elijah Ford led the Mustangs with 19 points, while Hayden Hall added 10. Kennesaw Mountain held the early advantage with a 14-12 lead at the end of the first quarter and increased its advantage to 17-12 at the beginning of the second on a 3-pointer by Hall with 7:08 remaining. However, Pope caught fire as it proceeded to go on a 13-3 run – fueled by four 3-pointers, including back-to-back 3s by Colby West – to take a 25-20 lead and the Greyhounds ended the first half ahead 27-25. Pope continued to stretch its advantage in the third quarter as it made three more 3-pointers – two of them by Luttrell – to finish the period with a 41-31 lead. The Greyhounds led by as much as 12 points – 47-35 with 4:43 remaining in the game. President Joe Biden has signed legislation aimed at protecting the Chattahoochee River. The first-of-its-kind measure authorizes $90 million in federal funds for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to work with local partners on water projects throughout the Chattahoochee River system. Biden signed the bill last week as part of congressional reauthorization of the Water Resources and Development Act. According to the Georgia River Network, the Chattahoochee supplies 70% of metro Atlanta's drinking water. The river is also a key source of water for farmers and an important source of power generation through hydroelectric dams. However, more than 1,000 miles of waterway within the Chattahoochee watershed do not meet water quality standards, creating potential health risks to humans and wildlife. In 2019, the National Park Service reported visitors to the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area added more than $200 million to the metro region's economy, supporting more than 2,000 local jobs. Co-Founder and Partner Virginia Van Lear with Level Craft Construction joins the Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio podcast to discuss the story behind the 100% female-owned business, the company's exciting expansion into building new home communities, as well as what's on the books for the new year. Van Lear joins host Carol Morgan on the All About Real Estate segment. As one of Atlanta's favorite female builders and remodelers, Van Lear worked independently in the home building industry for 23 years before starting Level Craft Construction with her partner, Debbie Hollonbeck. Level Craft Construction is an in-town home-building company that develops custom homes and renovates large-scale projects. Prioritizing transparency and a positive environment with homeowners, Van Lear and her team are look forward to the expansion and growth of Level Craft Construction while offering beautiful products across Atlanta. Van Lear said, “We love working with our clients! We love to make the process super seamless.” Beginning in Decatur and Midtown within well-known neighborhoods like Morningside and Virginia Highlands, Level Craft Construction recently expanded to Buckhead, Brookhaven and Sandy Springs. The female-led company is currently building out a 58-home neighborhood in Hapeville and 12 townhomes in Grant Park near Zoo Atlanta. Van Lear said, “We were awarded Best Remodeler in Buckhead Magazine last month!” This is notable because the builder just started building in Buckhead in 2022! Priced from the low $400,000s, the Hapeville neighborhood features detached townhomes ideal for single-family living. Named Stillwood Homes, the community includes impressive amenities such as a pool and cabana. With each group of townhomes showcasing a different exterior elevation including Mediterranean, Southern and Tuscan the community's landscaping and hardscaping will also be themed to give the neighborhood a wide range of stylistic feels. Each group of townhomes will have access to a seating area featuring a fire pit. A community garden with edible plants will be available for all homeowners to enjoy. This Level Craft Construction project is conveniently located just off the Hapeville exit with close proximity to the airport. Just steps away from the BeltLine, Level Craft is working on 12 townhomes located at 816 Berne Street in Grant Park. Pricing isn't finalized yet but will most likely be from the $700,000s to the $800,000s for these four-floor townhomes. These homes will feature modern design elements and panoramic doors on the top roof leading to an expansive deck that overlooks the beautiful city of Atlanta. The dopest part about hosting CashColorCannabis is getting to know sides of people you never knew existed. Over the last 6 years of recording, there have been many nights when I walked saying to myself, " I would've never thought that about them." My episode with Lance Roberston was one of those nights. While familiar with the East Point city councilman, this was the first time I had a real chance to just speak with him. I learned quickly that he has been to this studio before. Except when he was here last, the year was different, the hairstyles were different and the vibe was way more different. And that's just the beginning of this interview. Listen to our conversation with councilman Robertston where we speak about his life in politics, bringing CBD to a neighborhood that may need it, the inaugural Hapeville Hemp Festival, and more. MjBiz Conference is coming up this November. One of the must-attend parties that week will be HUSH House.
This week we talk about Week 1 in the NFL and the heartbreak that I suffered via the Atlanta Falcons. We chop it up with Kuntry Cool about their musical journey. Join us live, every Monday at The Blendz 2 (632 S. Central Ave in Hapeville, GA). Doors open at 7 and we shut down at midnight.
Gerald Harris, Father, Hoffman Board Chair emeritus, and Energy Economist is our guest today. Gerald shares his journey from growing up in rural south Georgia to his current life with his sons in Northern California. He shares his Hoffman Journey of transformation. Listen all the way to the end for Gerald's powerful reflections on forgiveness and transformation. Born and raised in Hapeville, Georgia until he was six years old, Gerald talks about what it was like to grow up in a village of extended family. His family was poor but he didn't know it. At the age of six, he and his mother moved to Chicago for work. Suddenly, it was just Gerald and his mother. Gerald shares how he suffered abuse from his single mother. The Process helped him take his mother down off of the pedestal he'd learned to put her on as a child so he could squarely look at what had really happened in his childhood. He was able to see the patterns he adopted from her and release them through the Process. By completing the Hoffman Process, Gerald was able to heal the pain of his childhood so that this past pain would not affect his sons. Generational healing releases generational patterns and the painful emotions they cause. When patterns are released, our own lives and our children's lives can hold more Light and Love. Gerald's world at the Process made it possible for his sons' lives to be freer of generational patterning. One of the other places the Process supported Gerald through transformation was in his sense of spirituality. As a child, he grew up Christian. Prior to doing the Process, Gerald was reading Buddhist thought and other kinds of thought as well. After the Process, Gerald came to understand that spirituality is not about any particular religion. He found it is about love, forgiveness, kindness, compassion, and justice. The Process supported Gerald in discovering a heart-centered way of communicating that he uses in all his relationships, both personal and professional. More about Gerald Harris: Gerald Harris is president of the Quantum Planning Group (QPG), which he founded in 2009. His company specializes in assisting businesses and non-profit organizations in strategic and business planning using the tools of scenario analysis. He works extensively with companies in the energy sector, particularly gas and electricity. Elvis had Graceland. The Vanderbilts had The Biltmore. And Truett Cathy had the Dwarf House. Originally built in Hapeville, Georgia in 1946 with only 10 stools and four booths, the 512-square foot diner became the birthplace of the Original Chick-fil-A sandwich. Opened by Truett and his brother Ben, people flocked to the tiny restaurant 24-hours-a-day, 6-days-a-week to chow down on 20 cent cheeseburgers and 65 cent steak plates. The restaurant shut down in April 2021 to undergo a massive renovation. Jim Mann and Alison Storm took a tour of the brand new location, which is part-restaurant, part-museum to the legacy of Chickfila. Guests are welcomed by a life-size statue of Truett sitting on a bench out front. The iconic little red door is still an option for entering the (not so dwarf-like) 10,000 square foot restaurant. Inside, regulars will notice the familiar stained glass windows, retro brick and even light fixtures that once decorated the original Dwarf House. Eric and Wendy are joined by Michelle Martinez, Wendy's grad school classmate and BFF, to discuss her favorite parts of “Nestor.” Michelle is a current poetry indexer and permissions coordinator for a large poetry organization, recovering academic, and chicana feminist crockpot fiend with a Ph.D. in English lit. A guest was necessary, since, until the recording, Eric and Wendy thought “Nestor” was … fine, but maybe feel differently by the end? Highlights of the conversation include Michelle's four-month-old's timely appearance as we discuss “amor matris,” discussion of Deasy's QAnon resonance, debate over what it means that God is a shout in the street, and, finally, the pod's casting of the perfect Ulysses movie Deasy. In this episode, I talk to Yehimi Cambrón. She is a DACAmented artist, activist, entrepreneur, public speaker, and soon-to-be-author born in Michoacán, México, and raised in Atlanta. Her murals throughout Atlanta elevate social justice issues through the lenses of immigration narratives. In 2019, the Mexican Consulate selected Cambrón as the recipient of the “Distinguished Mexicans” award and silver medal from the Institute of Mexicans Abroad. In June of 2020, she painted her tallest mural to date, We Give Each Other the World, a community-responsive mural co-funded by the National Endowment for the Arts and the City of Hapeville. In August of 2020, Cambrón painted her most recent mural Monuments: Atlanta's Immigrants at Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium. #ChingaLaMigra is Yehimi's most recent installation at Atlanta Contemporary Museum

Broker and Owner of Intown Focus Realty, Joan Shorter, is in the studio for today's episode of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio. Joined by co-hosts Carol Morgan and Todd Schnick, the group discusses what makes Intown Focus Realty unique, the popular areas Shorter and her team sells in, available housing options and more on this All About Real Estate Segment of Radio. Shorter, originally from Buffalo, New York, relocated to Atlanta in 1993. After 27 years of living in Atlanta, Shorter officially considers herself a native of the fabulous city. Intown Focus Realty was created 10 years ago in 2011 with a focus on giving experienced agents what they need, allowing more focus to be put on the client. “We're all very experienced, very personable and very personal with our clients,” said Shorter. “It's not just transaction-based because we're trying to hit numbers. We're all about the customer experience.” The experts at Intown Focus Realty are licensed in the whole state of Georgia and consistently work all throughout the metro Atlanta area, but its office is located in Hapeville. Most of Intown Focus Realty's business is focused in Hapeville, East Point and Historic College Park. Most recently, Shorter added a new realtor in the Midtown area and plans to continue to grow and expand the Intown Focus Realty expertise throughout 2021. The three cities Intown Focus Realty is known for working in deliver affordable, high-quality homes near everything metro Atlanta has to offer. With plenty of opportunities for living, working and playing, Hapeville, East Point and Historic College Park have it all! Shorter notes that the city officials in these three up-and-coming cities listen and care about their citizens. With a focus on healthy living, East Point is implementing several biking and walking trails throughout the city. It also has new food initiatives for healthy eating, available for both the underserved and anyone just looking to elevate their lifestyle to include fresh and local food options. Community gardens, weekly farmers markets and other sustainable options are available or coming soon in East Point. In addition to healthy living, East Point is also embracing local culture and accepting the film industry into the fold. With notable corporations, including Tyler Perry Studios, several film industry professionals flock to East Point due to its incredible central location, one-of-a-kind scenery, filming opportunities and more. Intown Focus Realty chooses to work in some of the finest metro Atlanta cities with a client-focused sales process. This means Shorter and all her agents make sure to communicate thoroughly with their clients in order to learn all goals, wants and needs in the home buying process. “Even if you're buying a home to live in for yourself, you're still making an investment in your future,” said Shorter. “We really try to talk to them [clients] about the dimensions of their needs before we go out looking or create a marketing plan with a pricing strategy. I find a lot of agents are just like ‘get qualified and let's go spend your money.' That is not our goal to spend top dollar. We want to know where people's comfort levels are and as we're out looking, we really get to know them.” By getting to know clients, the experts at Intown Focus Realty can better understand how to serve each individual homebuyer. This strategy allows for clients to be happy with their investment at the end of any homebuying experience. Potential homebuyers looking to move to the Hapeville area need to keep The Landings at Virginia Park on the radar. These upscale townhomes offer spacious floorplans that truly feel like single-family homes. In an incredible Hapeville location near all the city conveniences, including newly added bike lanes, this new development has it all. The remaining unites are priced from $365,000 and the professionals at Intown Focus Realty can help you secure one of the final homes before it's...
"It's important to me to be unapologetic about the stories that I'm representing through my work and even being unapologetic about the way that I represent myself in the spaces that I get to be in." - Yehimi Cambrón Host Adela Yelton asks Yehimi, “How did Art find you?” Yehimi explains how the art classroom became a space for her to express herself as a little girl in an English language-dominant environment. She talks about being Latina, undocumented and Mexicana, in the South and how she hopes her Monuments theme will lead to a more inclusive South in spite of the area's ubiquitous monuments to the confederate legacy. Teaching and her relationships with students and the community were integral to Yehimi's path to being able to pursue her work as an artist full time. She talks about working with the nonprofit organization Living Walls and finding the courage to say yes to her first public art projects in her Atlanta community. Yehimi's personal experience as a Latina, undocumented and Mexicana in the South influences her artist voice and work. She also focuses on creating spaces through her murals where others can share their stories and speak for themselves. Adela and Yehimi talk about “Monuments, Our Immigrant Mothers” located in Decatur, Georgia and moments of connection. She welcomes conversations about her murals and understands that her work sometimes makes people feel uncomfortable. As creators, they talk about not taking on all the burdens of the world and for people having the responsibility to educate themselves - and ask themselves why - when they feel discomfort. The migrating monarch butterfly features prominently in the mural “We Give Each Other the World” located in Hapeville, Georgia near Atlanta's airport. The monarch image serves as a symbol of migration and is a way to connect to the stories of immigrants and why they migrate. Her approach is community-centered and inclusive. The individual stories and interactions are what keep her going, even in difficult times. Yehimi talks about her legacy and her hope for the long-term impact of her work in spite of the ephemeral nature of her murals. Adela asks how we can best support Yehimi and her work – by purchasing prints directly from her at www.yehimicambron.com. Sharing her images on social media platforms like Instagram: @ycambron is also an impactful way to support her as an artist. Yehimi wants Latinas and young immigrant women to know, "there is hope and you have the power to go after your goals." Thank you to our listeners for your support! Visit us a Latina South or drop us a line at hola@latinasouth.com and let us know what you think. And please subscribe, rate, and leave us a review wherever you are listening.
Traveling might look a little different this year, but people are traveling nonetheless! President of the ATL Airport District Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) Cookie Smoak joins this week's Around Atlanta edition of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio to discuss the South Atlanta destination and the cities it serves with co-hosts Carol Morgan and Todd Schnick. The ATL Airport District is just 10 miles south of downtown Atlanta and is home to the world's busiest airport, Georgia's second-largest convention center, more than 8,000 hotel rooms and destination dining and retail. Founded seven years ago as one of the newer CVBs in Georgia, the ATL Airport District CVB serves the airport's surrounding areas including College Park, East Point, Hapeville and Union City. Focused on selling all the hotels and attractions in that area and market the restaurants, its mission is to promote the area for tourism, conventions and generate economic impact. “We want to put heads in beds; we want to put people in the restaurants; we want to put people in the attractions and fill the convention center,” Smoak said. “The area is growing, so we're just really excited to have this opportunity.” According to Smoak, College Park is the fourth largest historic home district in Georgia and the entire four-city district is home to many major businesses including the Porsche Experience Center, which is the manufacturer's largest investment outside of Germany, Chick-fil-A headquarters and the Delta Flight Museum, to name a few. “During the past 6, 7 months, everything has kind of stopped and halted, but not so in the Airport District,” Smoak said. Recently, J Presso Coffee and Bakery, a small, family-owned coffee shop, recently reopened in Hapeville, as well as Grub Fresh Bowls and Wraps, Your Pie Pizza, Moe's Southwest Grill and Pit Boss BBQ. Realizing that restaurants bring people together, the ATL Airport District keeps visitors up to date with restaurant openings and available take-out, delivery and curbside services. https://youtu.be/ALk4w6a5o-A With its ever-growing list of unique shops, microbreweries, dining options and outdoor spaces, the ATL Airport District offers a thriving culture influenced by big city life. The new restaurant concept from Philip Jones, a seasoned Smoothie King franchisee, offers healthy grab and go meal options on Atlanta's south side, including the airport vicinity. Check out this exclusive interview on how this story began, challenges along the way and why they are the BEST Grab and Go option in Atlanta! Web: https://grubbowls.com Follow: @grubbowls About: Grub Fresh Bowls & Wraps is open in Hapeville, offering residents a new, healthy option for high quality, delicious and fresh fast food, close to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on Atlanta's south side. The new quick serve restaurant was created for healthy, active, busy people who seek convenient yet nutritious food on-the-go. Grub founder Philip Jones is no stranger to the Hapeville neighborhood. A Chicago native and now 13 year Atlanta transplant, he saw the need for additional healthy food options in the city of Hapeville outside of his already established success as a Smoothie King Owner/Franchisee of 4 locations including the location directly adjacent to Grub Fresh Bowls and Wraps. “I created Grub because I would spend hours looking for something quick and healthy to eat,” said Philip Jones, Grub Fresh Bowls & Wraps founder. “The lack of options made it challenging to maintain a healthy lifestyle while working such a busy schedule. After years of frustration, I decided to recruit a classically-trained chef to help me take my passionate idea and create a solution that left me feeling satisfied and recharged.” Jones collaborated with Chef Kelley Hicks who has nearly two decades of industry experience to develop the menu. The two created non-traditional bowl and wrap options which change seasonally and all food is made in-house, from scratch with fresh ingredients. Guests can choose jasmine rice, brown rice and/or a flatbread wrap to accompany any menu item including: • Jerk Chicken Bowl (sautéed peppers and onions, pineapple salsa, mango jerk sauce, shaved lettuce) • Sweet and Spicy Salmon Bowl (edamame, shredded cabbage, green onions, sesame seeds, sweet chili, hericot vert) • Southwest Bowl (pico de gallo, black beans, roasted corn, green onions and cilantro, shaved lettuce) • Philly Cheesesteak Wrap • Buffalo Chicken Wrap • Grilled Veggie Wrap with spicy harissa. Chef Kelley Hicks knows that people love continental cuisine but still wanted to try new foods. She developed straight forward recipes for Grub that can all be tweaked to become vegetarian by simply omitting one or two items and substituting in more vegetable options. A vegan menu will also launch over the next six months. In this way, Grub accommodates all customer dietary needs easily with its scratch-made, healthy menu. Cooking since she was 7, she studied at Le Cordon Bleu and her wide-ranging experience includes being featured on The Food Network and working in five-star hotels, catering, fine dining and with celebrity private chef services. For the last 12 years, Jones has owned and operated four Smoothie King franchised locations around Atlanta. Understanding the needs and desires of his customers as well as the Hapeville traffic patterns and site specifics helped him develop a second food concept restaurant. He plans to perfect the Grub business model in Hapeville before embarking on his plan to open a total of five Grub locations throughout metro Atlanta in five years. Offering contactless pick-up and delivery options, all team members get temperature checks and health screenings before their shift and wear protective gear. Grub will sanitize all high contact surfaces and seating throughout the day and comply with state and local social distancing guidelines. Currently Grub offers only outdoor seating and grab and go options, no drive thru. Grub Fresh Bowls & Wraps is located at 876 Virginia Avenue, Suite B, Hapeville, GA 30354, convenient and close to the Atlanta airport. The restaurant offers catering and typical delivery services including DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub and Postmates. Hours are Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information, visit www.grubbowls.com or on Facebook and Instagram @GrubBowls. Tom Reed considers himself a "start-up guy" not a politician, in fact he's been on the Inc. 500/5000 List 3x for different startups, but moving to Serenbe offered a unique opportunity to lead "start-up city" of Chattahoochee Hills as mayor. Ask yourself, How do you thrive financially while mindfully preserving? How many developers live in the city they've built? Imagine creating such an amazing quality of life that you're willing to stay, and your children and grandchildren live there too. That's the message Tom has taken forward in developing Chattahoochee Hills, and working with other mayors to revitalize and preserve the beauty of south-Metro Atlanta.Definitions, Documents, or Link OutGeneral Store,Camp Serenbe,Blue Eyed Daisy,Chef Nic,Capri Blue,Congress for New Urbanism,New Urbanism,Municipal County, Kasim Reed,Bob Simpson, (first city manager)Peeks, transfer development rights,Bouckart Farms,Riverlands Project,Aerotropolis,AJC, - arts migrating to south sideDelta,Chick-fil-A,Hapeville,Porsha,Georgia Convention Center,Airport City,MARTA,CURiO Brands,South Fulton Municipal Association,DesirePath,Chatt Hills Organizing Committee,Chatt Hills Civic Association,South Fulton Civic Association,DPM Fragrance,Inc. 500/5000 List,Terry College of Business,Serenbe Institute for Arts, Culture & the Environment,South Fulton Parkway Alliance,Chatt Hills Music,Serenbe Film,Chatt Hills Charter School Foundation,Cochran Mill Nature Center,La Porte Hospital Foundation

Michelle Jenkins, president of HomeBilt, is in studio on today's edition of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio. Co-hosts Carol Morgan and Todd Schnick welcome Jenkins on this All About Real Estate Segment and discuss the latest projects with HomeBilt. Jenkins has been in the Real Estate industry for about 25 years, starting in on-site sales and growing to become the president of a production home building company. She started another home building company in 2009 and sold it after a few years. She then began HomeBilt in 2017. HomeBilt builds homes in and around the metro Atlanta Area. It provides custom homes, as well as quick move-in homes for potential buyers. As a woman-owned company, HomeBilt experiences unique insights other builders might not have. “Having insight from a woman's perspective in things that are important in the design of the home helps,” said Jenkins. “The importance of kitchen and the master bedroom gets emphasized, as well as smaller things such as storage, special areas and visual areas within the home. These spaces make it feel like a home.” HomeBilt completed its most recent project in Hapeville. This project consisted of several single-family homes, all priced up to the mid $300,000s. The convenient location of these homes places them near Hartsfield Jackson International Airport and just outside of Atlanta. This allows for convenient city interaction, with a quiet, laid-back lifestyle. Every single home in the project sold before construction was completed. HomeBilt is currently working on another project in the Woodland Hills area. The homes in this space are priced from the low $800,000s to the high $900,000s. These large single-family homes feature farm-style exteriors. Another community HomeBilt is building in is Foster Park in Madison. This community is located close to the downtown historic district of it's charming town. Only a short three-to-five-minute walk is all it takes to find the best shopping and dining opportunities in Madison. To learn more about HomeBilt, visit www.HomeBiltGa.com. April 8th - Interview with Alan Hallman, Mayor, City of Hapeville, Georgia by Lou Weiland
It takes some courage to open up a craft brewery focusing mainly on lagers. After all, lagers require a little more love...time...and temperature control before they're ready to serve. And for the most part, craft beer drinkers are mainly an ale-centric bunch. But for the men behind Hapeville's Arches Brewing, craft lagers are a way to showcase their brewing skills. Ryan Fogelgren and Jamey Adams joined us in the studios this week. Specializing in crisp, clean-drinking (mainly) German-style beers, the crew behind Arches have gained a good following in the community, and have even gained fans at the nearby Porsche headquarters. We talked about their start in the brewing business, their growth, and the future. Truck and Tap's Beers of the Week: Speaking of lagers, we tried: Reformation Brewery's new "95" German Dunkel Arches Unseasonal Lager Arches Imperial Pilsner Arches Aged Russian Imperial Stout Headlines - Brought to you by Your Pie Perimeter! A little history for you this week. Ron Smith and Mary O. Boyle are with us today. Not only are they craft beer fans, they are the authors of “Atlanta Beer: A Heady History of Brewing in the South” as well as “Prohibition in Atlanta: Temperance, Tiger Kings and White Lightning.” Atlanta and the south have had a love/hate relationship with alcohol over the past 250 or so years. From the Whitehall Tavern opening on the West End in 1835 (back when Atlanta was called Terminus), to the mayoral election of Moses Frumwalt (of the awesomely named "Free and Rowdy" party) over Jonathan Norcross (of the "Moral Party), the early years of the region were quite...interesting. Then, with the Civil War, reconstruction, and the abolitionist movement, the region underwent many, many changes. The opening of Atlantic Brewing in 1935 (it was located on the current site of the downtown Hilton) marked a turn in Atlanta's brewing history. After its closing in the 50s, Atlanta's only brewery was a branch of Canadian beer maker Carling (now made by Molson/Coors). And when it closed in 1973, Atlanta went nearly 4 decades without a brewery until Atlanta Brewing Company (now Red Brick) opened its doors in 1993. We really needed 3 hours to get in-depth with this topic, and we definitely plan on having Mary and Ron on the show in the future. In the meantime, we highly recommend picking up their two books: “Atlanta Beer: A Heady History of Brewing in the South" “Prohibition in Atlanta: Temperance, Tiger Kings and White Lightning” Truck and Tap's Beers of the week: In keeping with the historical theme, we went with a couple from the vault, including: Red Brick 20th anniversary (2013) SweetWater 17th anniversary (2014) Terrapin Tiramisu Hoo (2015) And a newer one, Monday Night Brewing Blood Orange Blind Pirate IPA Headlines (sponsored by Your Pie Perimeter) Damien Schaefer, a stalwart in Georgia's craft beer scene, has passed away.
