And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Embark on this year-long voyage through the Bible, and let each day's passage uplift and inspire you. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible! In today's episode, Hunter invites us into day 326 of our journey through the Bible, focusing on Matthew chapters 11 through 14. Together, we'll witness Jesus as he teaches, heals, and challenges the status quo—from answering John the Baptist's questions to performing miracles that inspire awe and raise controversy. As Hunter guides us through the stories of faith, doubt, and divine compassion, we'll reflect on moments when Jesus walks unexpectedly into the storms of life and calls us to courage. There are prayers for wisdom, comfort in hard times, and encouragement to lean into God's joy—reminding each of us that we are loved and seen. Whether you're facing headwinds in your own journey, seeking wisdom, or simply longing for the reassurance of God's presence, this episode is an invitation to put down your oars and listen for Christ's voice in every season. Let's gather around the Scriptures and let them shape our hearts, together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Jesus comes to us in the storm. Sometimes, the presence of God can seem almost terrifying—especially when it shows up in places or moments we least expect. The disciples learned this firsthand when Jesus came to them walking on the water in the midst of a storm. They were afraid, worn out from straining against the wind, doing all they knew to do: rowing with their own strength, growing exhausted and maybe even hopeless at the challenge before them. We, too, often find ourselves in the same boat—facing the winds that come against our families, marriages, children, our lives. We dig deep, try harder, and in spite of it all, sometimes feel like we're getting nowhere. The normal response is to keep pushing and striving. But what if, like the disciples, we miss the presence of Jesus in the middle of our trouble, dismissing him as something "unreal," just a ghost amidst our exhaustion? But Jesus steps into that place of fear and futility and speaks, "Don't be afraid. Take courage. I am here." The invitation is to lay down our oars and trust him, to let him meet us where we are, to believe that his presence makes the impossible possible. When we respond, as Peter did, we can experience something different than we've ever known—we can walk on water, move through storms, see a new way forward. Let's open our eyes to see him coming to us, even in the middle of nowhere, even when life feels overwhelming. Let's put down our striving and hear his voice. He's inviting us to courage, not fear; to rest, not more rowing; to faith, not despair. That's the prayer I have for my own soul—that in the middle of my storms, I would recognize the Lord who comes for me. That's the prayer I have for my family, for my wife and children. And it's the prayer I have for you, dear ones: May you see him in your storm, hear his invitation, and find rest in his abiding love. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Today's shout-out goes to Mike Herndon from Lumberton, TX. Your commitment through Project23 helps deliver God's Word daily with clarity and conviction. This one's for you. Our text today is Judges 13:24-25 And the woman bore a son and called his name Samson. And the young man grew, and the Lord blessed him. And the Spirit of the Lord began to stir him in Mahaneh-dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.— Judges 13:24-25 Samson's birth was miraculous. His calling was unique. But notice how his story actually begins: quietly. A baby grows up. God blesses him. Nothing spectacular—until the text drops this line: "The Spirit of the Lord began to stir him." It wasn't fireworks. It wasn't dramatic. Just stirrings. Subtle, almost hidden. A restless tug here. An unexplainable drive there. The Spirit was preparing him for what would come later. And that's usually how God works in us, too. He doesn't always announce His plans with thunder. Often, He stirs first. A conviction that lingers. A burden that won't go away. A restlessness that keeps you awake at night. Those aren't random feelings. They're the Spirit's fingerprints. The danger is brushing them aside, waiting only for the dramatic. But ignoring the Spirit's nudge means missing the very preparation for God's greater work. Samson's strength didn't just "happen" one day. It was preceded by stirring. Pay attention to the small whispers. Don't dismiss the tugging in your spirit. That may be God preparing you for something bigger than you can see right now. ASK THIS: Where do I sense God stirring me today? Have I been dismissing a conviction or burden as "nothing"? What small step of obedience could I take to respond to His stirring? DO THIS: Instead of waiting for a dramatic sign, pay attention to the quiet nudge. Write down one area where you sense God stirring and take a single step of obedience toward it. PRAY THIS: Holy Spirit, don't let me ignore Your stirrings. Teach me to recognize Your whispers and trust Your preparation, even when it feels small. Amen. PLAY THIS: "Oceans."

Experiencing the fringes of God's power through the gifts of the Spirit leads us to quantify the totality of God's power based on our limited experiences. God's Omnipotency goes beyond that, the creation of the Universe & the Earth in terms of size, matter and days taken might also not suffice in quantifying it. He can make dead things come back to life and calls those things that are not as if they were. His Omnipotence sets the basis of our trust in His ability and promises. Be blessed as you listen to this sermon.

In this remastered episode, we examine Colossians 1:5–10, showing how the gospel is both personal and universal: it spreads worldwide, produces spiritual fruit, and is rooted in God's grace. This passage highlights Epaphras's faithful witness, the priority of unceasing prayer, and the call for every believer to minister and pray for others. The heart of the message is Paul's prayer that Christians be filled with the knowledge of God's will, gaining wisdom and spiritual understanding so Scripture controls their minds and leads to obedient, Spirit-filled living.

Timothy Keller Sermons Podcast by Gospel in Life

We all have a problem with self-control. You can't be circumspect without coming to the end of a day and looking back and saying, “Why did I say that? Why did I follow that impulse?”  The Greek word used here for self-control translates to self-command. It's a synonym for being free, because if you're not self-controlled, then you're out of control. If you're out of control, then you're a slave to some other forces.  Paul knew a lot about self-discipline and self-control, and here's what he tells us: 1) what it is, 2) how it's born in you, and 3) how it can grow. This sermon was preached by Dr. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on May 30, 2010. Series: The Real Signs of the Spirit. Scripture: 1 Corinthians 9:23-10:13. In this rich conversation, Camden Bucey sits down with Dr. Chad Van Dixhoorn—historian, pastor, and professor at Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte—to explore the remarkable work and enduring wisdom of the Westminster Assembly. Together, they discuss how the divines pursued theological clarity through collaboration, not compromise, and how their humility and respect shaped confessional standards that have guided the Reformed church for centuries. Van Dixhoorn explains why the Westminster Confession should be seen as "a document with compromises, not a compromise document," how its chapters differ in tone and theological armor, and what this teaches us about confessional fidelity today. The conversation also explores doctrinal preaching—how to preach theology without losing the text—and why confessions must unite rather than constantly be rewritten. With warmth and clarity, Dr. Van Dixhoorn reminds us that Reformed unity is not built on uniformity, but on the shared pursuit of truth before the face of God. 00:00 Introduction and Word & Deed Ministry 01:18 At the Reformation and Worship Conference 04:10 Introducing Dr. Chad Van Dixhoorn and the Westminster Assembly 06:00 Consensus, Collaboration, and Compromise in the Assembly 09:30 The Process of Drafting the Westminster Standards 12:00 Respectful Debate and the Spirit of the Divines 19:30 Comparing the Westminster and Heidelberg Traditions 25:30 Confessional Revision, Study Committees, and Doctrinal Reports 33:00 Doctrinal Preaching: From Text to Theology 40:50 The Joy of Teaching and Ongoing Research on the Divines

“Then the Lord God called to the man, ‘Where are you?’” (Genesis 3:9 NLT) God is always present, everywhere, all the time. David celebrated—and explored the implications of—God’s constant presence in Psalm 139:7–12: “I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me. I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to become night—but even in darkness I cannot hide from you. To you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same to you” (NLT). He personalized God’s presence just as the prophet Amos did. “Can two people walk together without agreeing on the direction?” (Amos 3:3 NLT). God said to Amos’ fellow prophet Zephaniah, “For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs” (Zephaniah 3:17 NLT). The point is that God is present with His people, and He wants His people to be present with Him. He wants us to keep appointments with Him, to meet with Him on a regular basis. He wants us to prioritize our relationship with Him. He wants us to make the necessary sacrifices to keep that relationship active and growing. I wonder how many times each day God wants to speak to us but can’t get a word in edgewise. I wonder if He might say, “I’ve wanted to talk to you for a long time, but you’re too busy. This morning I wanted to talk to you, but you didn’t have any time for Me. Instead, you read the newspaper, watched TV, and talked on the phone. You never opened My Word. You never prayed. At lunch I tried to say something, but your prayer was too fast. You have an appointment with Me. Why don’t you keep it?” The book of Genesis tells us that Adam had an appointment with God every day in the Garden of Eden. Adam would hear the voice of the Lord in the Garden in the cool of the evening. One day Adam missed that appointment because of sin. Genesis 3:9 says, “Then the Lord God called to the man, ‘Where are you?’” (NLT). I wonder if the Lord would say that to some of us each day: “Where are you? I’ve been looking for you. I want to speak to you. I want you to walk with Me, and I want to walk with you.” Just imagine, the Creator of the universe wants to spend time with you! Is there any appointment that’s worth keeping more than this one? Reflection question: How do you experience God’s presence in your life? Money can so easily capture our hearts. It promises security, comfort, and control—but often leaves us anxious and striving for more. Yet when we give, something remarkable happens. We're declaring our dependence on God, not our bank accounts.Dr. Art Rainer—founder of the Institute for Christian Financial Health and author of Money in the Light of Eternity: What the Bible Says about Your Financial Purpose—joined us recently to explore how generosity becomes an act of trust that transforms our hearts and deepens our faith.Money Reveals the HeartLarry Burkett often said, “Every spending decision is a spiritual decision.” Dr. Rainer agrees.“Jesus said, Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also,” Art explained. “The Bible makes it clear—money management reflects heart management.”Scripture contains over 2,000 verses about money and possessions. Why? Because few things so clearly reveal what—or whom—we truly trust. For believers, the central question is this: Do we believe God's promises about provision, and are we willing to surrender this area of life to Him?Giving as an Act of TrustDr. Rainer describes giving as a tangible expression of faith. “God doesn't tell us to give and then leave us hanging,” he said. “He ties promises to generosity.”Those promises fall into three beautiful truths—God will provide, multiply, and enrich.1. God Promises to ProvideIn Malachi 3:10, the Lord declares:“Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do, I will open the windows of heaven for you and pour out a blessing so great you won't have enough room to take it in. Try it! Put me to the test!”“God invites us to trust Him,” Art said. “He promises to pour out an abundance of blessings—not necessarily material wealth, but blessings that can be spiritual, relational, or emotional. Maybe it's the contentment you've been chasing for years, or the joy of being part of something far greater than yourself.”2. God Promises to MultiplyIn John 6, a young boy offers his five loaves and two fish to Jesus—hardly enough to feed five thousand hungry people. Yet Christ multiplies that small gift until everyone is satisfied, with twelve baskets left over.“Many of us feel like that boy,” Art said. “We look at our meager resources and wonder, What difference can this make? But God is a God of multiplication. He can take whatever you give and expand it to accomplish His purposes. That's His promise—but it requires trust.”3. God Promises to EnrichWho doesn't love a good return on investment—or ROI? “God does too,” Art said.In 2 Corinthians 9:11, Paul writes, “You will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous.”“God gives so that we can give,” Art continued. “He blesses so that we can bless others. He's looking for conduits of generosity—people through whom His blessings can flow. When we live that way, generosity becomes not just a habit, but a way of life.”Trusting God With Your MoneyAs Dr. Rainer summed it up:“Generosity is an act of trust. It shifts our hearts from reliance on ourselves and money to reliance on God. If you're a Christian, you've already trusted Him with your soul. It's time to trust Him with your money.”When we give generously, we're not losing—we're investing in eternity. We're saying, “Lord, I believe You are my provider.” And that's one of the clearest ways to live out genuine faith.Learn more about Dr. Art Rainer's work at ChristianMoneySolutions.com.On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I'm 69 with no debt and considering a whole life insurance policy—$100,000 with premiums for 10 years—to leave tax-free money to my children. There are moments when the Evergetinos confronts us with a vision so stark and so luminous that it seems almost uninhabitable. It is not a juridical vision of justice. It is not a measured discourse about the protection of innocents. It does not weigh competing moral claims or concerns about equity or rights. What it reveals is something else entirely. It opens before us the divine ethos, the mode of being that belongs to those who have been seized by God, transformed by grace, and re-shaped through hesychia into a likeness of Christ that defies all earthly logic. It is the unvarnished gospel in its rawest form. When the philosophers insult the monk from the Libyan desert, and he rushes toward them with eagerness, offering his cheek to their hands, it is not a lesson in social ethics. It is not a prescription for how a parent is to protect a child or how a citizen must respond to injustice. It is a revelation of the interior world of a man who watches over his mind and hopes only in the grace of God. The philosophers fast. The philosophers keep vigil. They practice disciplines that appear nearly identical. What they cannot do—what they admit they cannot do—is guard the mind in purity and allow insults to pass through the heart without stirring anger. In this they recognize the divine in the monk. They bow to him because a man who can endure injustice without disturbance is living from a realm they cannot inhabit. The Evergetinos offers no apologies for this. It does not soften its witness. When the elder watches his garden destroyed and asks only to keep a single root so he might cook for the one who has wrecked the rest, he is not giving us a moral theory. He is revealing what the human heart becomes when it rests in the Spirit. The elder who lights a lamp for thieves and joyfully hands them his last coins is not attempting to reform criminal behavior, nor is he calculating social consequences. His joy is not naivete. It is the fire of Christ's own meekness living in him. And yet we must be honest. These stories do not address the complexities of the world in which most people live. They do not speak directly to the father protecting his family, the mother guarding her children, the priest shepherding a wounded community, or the layperson navigating systems of injustice. The Evergetinos does not pause to balance competing goods. It does not acknowledge the dangers that arise when evil is left unchecked. It is not a handbook for civil society. It is something far more dangerous. It presents us with the highest vision of a human heart purified by grace, a life transfigured to such a degree that it can absorb wrongs as Christ absorbed them. The gospel is not diluted. In fact, it becomes unbearable in its purity. The elder who prays for the grace to respond to thieves with joy receives exactly what he asks for. God answers him not with consolation but with thieves at his door. He lights a lamp, welcomes them, opens his coffers, and blesses them as they leave with everything he owns. He asks for nothing in return, not even their repentance. When asked whether they came back like the thieves in the story, he laughs and says he preferred that they did not. He was not following a legal principle. He was walking the path he had begged God to let him walk. The suffering he endured was not a loss. It was the fruit of a longing for likeness with Christ. And then there are the stories of divine recompense, e.g., St. John the Merciful and the miraculous jars of honey that turn to gold, the injustices endured by monks which become occasions for God to act as avenger. These are not examples of magical thinking. They are testimonies that God sees everything, that the meek are not abandoned, that those who refuse to avenge themselves have placed their trust in the only One capable of true judgment. The elders are not naïve about injustice. They simply refuse to litigate their own wounds. They trust that God Himself will set things right in a manner beyond human calculation. --- Text of chat during the group: 00:01:57 Sam: Hi Fr Charbel. Greetings from Australia :-) 00:04:05 Fr. This week we finally crest the peak of our reading of Spurgeon's sermons, crossing the halfway line in our reading through the Passmore & Alabaster collection of his preaching. This address, on love as the first fruit of the Spirit, is a fitting marker for the occasion. The sermon bears many of Spurgeon's hallmarks: richly doctrinal and practical and experimental; full of a lively sense of the Holy Spirit; rising to a Christ-centred crescendo; pleading for the holiness of God's people and the salvation of the lost; a thorough sense of the text in its context; an inventive and engaging outline; a delight in the grace of our heavenly Father; a lively hope of heaven; a plain call to penetrating self-examination. In one sense there is nothing remarkable about the sermon. In another sense, the fact that this is a further sermon showing a consistent richness of substance and a sustained intensity of spirituality makes it notable not because it stands out but because it is more of the same, and it warms our hearts. Meditations on the Mysteries of the Rosary: Glorious Mysteries One Who Descended So All Might Ascend: A Theology of the Glorious Mysteries This conference initially explores the deep unity and movement . . . . . . within the original fifteen mysteries of the Rosary . . . Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious . . . and shows how they mirror the central pattern of the Creed: Incarnation → Passion → Resurrection and Glory. The conference highlights how only one . . . Christ . . . descends from heaven, taking on our humanity, and then ascends again carrying that humanity into glory. Mary's Assumption confirms that where Christ has gone, we are meant to follow. The Time Scale of the Mysteries The meditation considers the time scale of the mysteries: • The Joyful Mysteries span about twelve years; • The Glorious Mysteries unfold across roughly 50 days followed by many years; • And, The Sorrowful Mysteries, in stark contrast, take place within a single intense day. The conference also gives attention to the public versus private character of the mysteries: Christ's passion is witnessed by thousands, whereas the resurrection and ascension are revealed only to a small circle of disciples. Jesus does not showcase His triumph; instead, He entrusts the proclamation of His resurrection to a handful who did not even witness the moment itself. The reflection then expands the First Glorious Mystery, urging a broader meditation on the many appearances of the risen Christ . . . from Mary Magdalene to the disciples on the road to Emmaus—emphasizing how His glorified humanity is the true pattern for our own. The Glorious Mysteries The Ascension is presented as Christ's heavenly enthronement, witnessed only by His disciples. It is inseparable from the Great Commission, in which Jesus commands this small, fragile group to evangelize the nations, promising His abiding presence and the coming of the Holy Spirit. The Third Glorious Mystery, Pentecost, reveals the Church's true beginning. The Holy Spirit descends not randomly, but upon the Church gathered on a Sunday, in prayer, in the place of the Eucharist, with Mary. Pentecost mirrors the Incarnation: as the Spirit once formed Christ's physical body in Mary, He now forms Christ's mystical body, the Church. The disciples step out into the world . . . and the world is already waiting, drawn by the Spirit. Peter's preaching leads to the conversion of more than three thousand, marking the start of the Church's mission to the nations. Overall, the conference shows how the Glorious Mysteries reveal Christ's victory, the exaltation of our humanity, the birth of the Church, and the continuation of the same divine movement from Incarnation to Redemption to Glory. Welcome back to the Motion Church Podcast. In this third week of our Double Minded series, the message takes us straight to the heart of the fight that every believer faces — not just the battle around us, but the battle within us. This week's captions open with a clear truth: your life is always moving in the direction of your strongest thoughts. What you let in… what you meditate on… what you replay in your mind over and over — it's shaping the person you're becoming. And Scripture warns us that the double-minded person lives unstable, pulled in two directions, never fully stepping into the peace or purpose God intends. Week 3 presses into this tension: Why does the mind wander? Why does the heart feel divided? Why do we know the truth — yet drift toward lies that drain our confidence? The message reveals that the battle isn't won by accident. It's won through intentional focus, through capturing thoughts, through refusing to let toxic thinking write the story of your life. The captions echo this again and again: you cannot live a God-centered life with a self-centered thought pattern. This week reminds us that spiritual victory begins with mental clarity — choosing what we feed, what we filter, and what we refuse to entertain. The teaching points back to the power God has given us: the power to renew our minds… the power to silence the lies… the power to let the Spirit shape every corner of our thinking. Week 3 isn't just a continuation — it's a turning point. A moment to declare: no more divided thoughts, no more double lives, no more drifting between two worlds. A moment to step into a mind anchored by truth. So wherever you're listening from — your car, your home, your job, your quiet place — settle your thoughts, quiet your heart, and lean in. Welcome to Motion Church. Welcome to Week Three of “Double Minded.” Let's step into the message.

Confirmation, and conformation. When "Christians" don't want to become holy, we have to question whether they're truly born again. But when believers try to sanctify themselves through obeying the Law of God, there's no question they'll fail. In Romans 8 we find the solution: living by the Spirit. He will confirm to us that we belong to Him, and He will conform us to the image of Jesus. That's a process. Here's Jim reading Romans 8, verse 2. Is Your Faith Yours, or Is Your Faith Really the Faith of Others? MESSAGE SUMMARY: We first believed because of what our parents taught us; but then we heard for ourselves, and we believed. You and cannot live on another's faith in Jesus – With regards to faith, “God has no grandchildren”, only His Children; therefore, your Salvation can only come from your faith and not the faith of others. Each of us must hear for ourselves and come to the Lord in our own faith. As Paul tells us in Romans 10:16-17: “But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, ‘Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?'. So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ." You and I each will stand before the Lord alone in judgment -- we will speak for ourselves with only Jesus to speak for us. Others to whom we minister, such as our children, can her about the Lord and the Gospel from us – for the first time or in reinforcement – but they must hear for themselves and believe for themselves to be saved.   TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, I have unhealthy ways of relating to others that are deeply imbedded in me. Please change me. Make me a vessel to spread mature, steady, and reliable love so that those I come in contact with will sense your tenderness and kindness through me. In Jesus' name, amen.  Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 140). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Inconsistencies. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit's fruit of Faithfulness. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). John continues in his letter warning believers against false prophets, saying that those who do not confess Christ, and that he has come in the flesh, are not from God. Simply put, John says that those who oppose the teaching of the apostles are of the world and should not be believed. Rather, the apostles teaching should be believed, and those who believe it are from God. This may sound self-aggrandizing, but John is one of the twelve apostles appointed by Jesus, one who walked with him, learned from him broke bread with him, who witnessed his miracles, and who saw his resurrected body. John goes on to encourage the church to love one another with the kind of love that comes from the Father, by the Spirit, through the Son. :::Christian Standard Bible translation. All music written and produced by John Burgess Ross.Co-produced by the Christian Standard Biblefacebook.com/commuterbibleinstagram.com/commuter_bibletwitter.com/CommuterPodpatreon.com/commuterbibleadmin@commuterbible.org

Daily Dose of Hope November 21, 2025   Scripture - Acts 4:23-37   Prayer: Almighty Father, You always know what is best for us.  Thank you for that.  We are sorry for the ways that we resist.  Help us to want what you want for us.  Help us to want to be patient, to want to be kind, to want to be obedient.  Conform our will, Lord, In Your Name, Amen.   Welcome to the Daily Dose of Hope, a devotional and podcast that goes along with the Bible reading plan at New Hope Church in Brandon, Florida.  Happy Friday!  We are so glad you have joined us today.  We have been doing an intense deep dive into the Gospels and Acts.  We have made it to the book of Acts and today, we are finishing up Acts 4.    The Jewish leaders had threatened Peter and John not to preach and teach Jesus.  Peter and John knew that was not going to be possible.  So what do they do?  They immediately gather with other believers for a time of prayer.  They pour their concerns out before the Lord.  They proclaim the majesty of God's greatness and power and they ask him to give them more boldness.    I want you to adequately grasp this.  They don't hide.  They don't cower.  They don't pray for protection.  They pray for boldness.  They never had any intention of backing down, but they do know that they will need Spirit-filled courage.    Think about the situation in your life right now that is causing the most stress and anxiety.  How can you reframe it like these disciples?  It's not about backing down.  It's about God giving you the strength, courage, stamina, and wisdom to face it head-on.  Please use good sense here and proceed with prayer.  But don't let fear make you make down.  Were Peter and John scared?  Probably.  They were human beings.  But they surrounded themselves with believers to pray over them and build them up with the strength of the Spirit.  What a great model! I want to jump down to the end of the chapter.  The believers are together and share all they have.  They are of one mind.  They sell their possessions and lay them at the apostles' feet.  They are filled with grace in a powerful way.  This is the way the church began.  Do you think maybe we have gotten off course a bit?  The reality is that a lot of history has occurred between the church of Acts and today.  But what do you take from this passage?  What elements of the church might we need to bring back to right now to be more in line with the teachings of Jesus? Blessings, Pastor Vicki

The Gospel of John Week 21 Scripture: John 16:1-5. This week we head into more of the final hours before Jesus' arrest. We open with John 16:1-5 ""All this I have told you so that you will not fall away. They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God. They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me. I have told you this, so that when their time comes you will remember that I warned you about them. I did not tell you this from the beginning because I was with you, but now I am going to him who sent me." He's telling them difficult days are ahead, but He wants to make certain that when difficult days come, they are not going to be taken off guard, that they will not fall away or lose their faith. He's telling them tough times lay ahead, be ready! Jesus continues to tell His disciples that He is teaching these things so they don't stumble, so that when even us today, see these things beginning to take place, that we look up because the time of redemption draws near. So Jesus says, to be awake and prepared for His return. And again He tells them the Holy Spirit, the Advocate will come after he goes away, that the Father will send the Holy Spirit to them. Jesus tells them it is to their advantage for Him to go away and the Spirit to come.  Why? Because this is fulfilling everything the prophets had predicted, and it is ushering in a new age, the age of the Holy Spirit. In Joel we read the Holy Spirit would be poured out. So Jesus is saying hang in there, don't stumble and the Holy Spirit will be with you when I'm gone.  Then Pastor shares a personal testimony about how reading the New Testament and only getting as far as the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7 how the Holy Spirit convicted him and how he realized he was a sinner in need of a Savior. The Holy Spirit convicts and convinces people about righteousness. The Bible describes our righteousness (we are sinners) as filthy rags. We cannot stand before a holy God, no matter how nice, how good we've been and say "Hey, God, let me in, I've done this and that." None of us is righteous, but Jesus is our righteousness.  He is the righteousness of God that by His perfect life, by His willing obedience, by His sacrificial death, by His resurrection, He has paid the price for our sin and rebellion.   The Holy Spirit convicts us of sin and point us to Jesus as our righteousness through faith in Jesus.  It is only because of the Lord Jesus Christ  and faith in Him that we are saved. When need to we realize that God is gracious and we that we need to rely upon Jesus and on Him alone. It is only In Him that we are protected from judgement. It's at the cross of Jesus that the punishment for our sin was paid. In Him alone is forgiveness, hope, peace and life ever after. Did the Holy Spirit only guide people in truth in the 1st century? No, there is nothing in the Bible that says the Holy Spirit was given at Pentecost and active for a few year and that once the New Testament was complete, that the Holy Spirit was gone. There is nothing in scripture to indicate the Holy Spirit has ever stopped working. The Holy Spirit still desires to guide and direct His children today.  Jesus says, "But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you." Then Jesus goes on to say "in a little while you will see me no more and then again in a little while you will see me. You will weep and mourn while the world rejoices." He adds that they will forget the anguish and goes on to say that now is the time of grief but that He would see them again and that they would rejoice and that no one could take away their joy. In just a few hours the disciples will have their lives turned upside down. They will be in fear of their lives. And they are going to think everything is being taken away, the enemy has won, BUT Jesus tells them you will see Me again and no one will be able to take away that joy! Then He says "I have told you these things so that in Me, you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble but take heart, I have overcome the world!" Many people have come to faith after reading only this book of the Bible.  Scholarly and archeological discoveries in recent decades give us new insight on details in the Gospel of John.

This session was a powerful reminder that our relationship with God is covenant-based, not feeling-based. We relate to Him on the grounds of the blood of Jesus, not emotions or performance, and that blood remains the foundation of our access. The New Covenant gives a far greater relationship than the Old. Instead of relating to God through rituals and distance, we now stand before Him with boldness and confidence. And because of Christ's finished work, we enjoy permanent, uninterrupted access to the Father through the Spirit.Be blessed as you listen to the

The guys reflect on how much their understanding of the kingdom has grown since the early days of the podcast and use John 19 to contrast the deadly misuse of law with the life-giving work of the Holy Spirit. Jase points out that the Jewish leaders tried to kill Jesus “by the book,” while never stopping to ask the only question that mattered: what if he really is the Son of God? The guys explore the danger of legalism, the difference between living like a slave under law versus a son filled with the Spirit.
