Wes and Gevian Dargan talk about the recently unearthed video from DC Comics writer Tee Franklin claiming Mark Waid used racial epithets among other allegations. DC Comics recently hired relative comic industry newcomer Tee Franklin. The minority, LGBTQ and disabled writer has already see her fair share of controversy. First, Poison Ivy fans took offense to her portrayal of the character as bisexual rather than lesbian in Harley Quinn: Eat, Bang, Kill Tour. Then she stirred up the C.B. Cebulski Akira Yoshida controversy with Steven DeKnight. But long before DC Comics ever hired Tee Franklin she created a YouTube video on her channel ‘MizTee Franklin' titled “Dear White Comic Creators your silence is complicity.” In it she claims DC and Marvel Comics writer Mark Waid used the n-word around her multiple times at Baltimore Comic-Con. She also claims numerous white comic creators, including Scott Snyder, contacted her about Black Lives Matter projects or comics aimed a black readers. Tee Franklin took offense to white creators looking to cash in on BLM while refusing to publicly support the movement. Support Thinking Critical at Ko-fi. What's interesting is the actor name that he is posing as a photo double for. His casting indicates that Mr. Townsend is acting as a photo double on that production for the iconic 80s actor: Bill Murray. Murray's role at this time, however, is currently undisclosed. What's interesting about this is that Peyton Reed is actually a fan of Murray's based on this tweet from earlier in the year. Disney+ [10:57] Armor Wars Will Explore War Machine's Past and Future https://www.cbr.com/armor-wars-explore-war-machine-past-and-future/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rs4Q6XLPrzA Don Cheadle discussed his upcoming solo Disney+ series, Armor Wars, and how it will flesh out Rhodey beyond his connection to Tony Stark. The actor spoke to ACE Universe about the show, which has yet to land a release date on the streaming service. Announced back in December, Armor Wars will adapt the popular Marvel Comics story with a twist: Iron Man won't be part of it. Instead, the series will explore the Armored Avenger's best friend and sidekick. "Well, I think that the most exciting part is yet to come," Cheadle said. "I think we don't really have a super-strong idea of who he is really outside of that, sort of, bubble of the Avengers. Out of necessarily his friendship with Tony. And now he's going to kind of be untethered from all of that. So it's an opportunity to really discover who he is in a way that we have not had before; with concentrated time and focus on Rhodey and Rhodey's journey, and with, hopefully, some stuff about his past. And teeing up some things about his potential future. Who knows how long this Marvel thing goes. It seems kinda unending. We might all die on set one day." "What's most exciting is yet to come, and I think those kinds of things were hinted at in Endgame, you know, where this character might go, and things that may be in the offing for him," Cheadle continued. "It's very early in the process of Armor Wars. We just hired my boy Yassir [Lester], which I'm very excited about, [he] wrote on Black Monday. [I've] become really good friends with him and close with him. Great guy. A lot of great ideas. But honestly, we're just really trying to crack the spine of what it's going to be and chop it up. I couldn't really give you the answers if you asked them because we're super in the clay mode right now." [19:17] Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur https://www.marvel.com/articles/tv-shows/disney-channel-moon-girl-devil-dinosaur-cast https://twitter.com/DisneyTVANews/status/1447981238577422345 We previously revealed that the Disney Channel announced Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur animated series at D23 2019. We're now excited to share that they've found their cast! Actress and singer Diamond White will star as Lunella Lafayette (aka Moon Girl) in the channel's highly anticipated animated series, slated to premiere in 2022. But that's not all; also joining the lead cast are: Alfre Woodard (Marvel's Luke Cage) as Lunella's grandmother, Mimi Libe Barer as Lunella's best friend and manager, Casey Sasheer Zamata as Lunella's mom, Adria Jermaine Fowler as Lunella's dad, James Jr. Fred Tatasciore (Marvel's Avengers Assemble) as the one-and-only Devil Dinosaur Gary Anthony Williams as Lunella's grandfather, Pops. Series executive producer Laurence Fishburne (Ant-Man and The Wasp) will voice the recurring role of The Beyonder, a curious and mischievous trickster. [25:08] RUMOR: Shang-Chi Spinoff Series Centered on Xialing's Ten Rings in Development https://www.cbr.com/rumor-shang-chi-spinoff-in-development/ https://thedirect.com/article/marvel-shang-chi-disney-plus-spin-off-ten-rings-sister-rumors Source 1: While most Marvel Cinematic Universe fans expected to see Xialing and the Ten Rings in a Shang-Chi sequel, a new report suggests there are other plans in store. Scooper Daniel Richtman, also known as DanielRPK, seemingly revealed that a Ten Rings series is in development at Disney+ with Zhang's Xialing as the series lead. Source 2: Daniel Richtman , a reliable scooper, shared on his Patreon that a spinoff featuring the Ten Rings organization from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is in development over at Marvel Studios. Richtman also revealed that Meng'er Zhang's Xialing would serve as the lead character for the planned spinoff series, which, if officially greenlit, would stream on Disney+. [28:23] What If...? Writer Explains Why [SPOILER] Isn't a Plot Hole at All https://www.cbr.com/what-if-ultron-infinity-stones-not-plot-hole/ https://twitter.com/TheAshBradley/status/1445078626697760770 Bradley's tweet essentially explains the stones power Ultron himself, and it's therefore Ultron's own power that has allowed him to wreak havoc across the multiverse, not the stones, and therefore sidesteps the issue of just where one universe's Infinity Stones would have any power. [31:02] RUMOR: Howard the Duck Animated Series In the Works https://www.cbr.com/howard-the-duck-animated-series-rumor/ According to an anonymous 4Chan user, Disney is in the early stages of development on a cartoon show starring Howard. It will be one of the first projects by the recently launched Marvel Studios Animation and will star see Seth Green reprise his role as the title character. Additionally, Disney is set to officially reveal the show at their Disney+ Day event on Nov. 12 and it is due to release in 2024. This should all be taken with a grain of salt, since the source makes the validity of the claim questionable. NETFLIX DEFENDERS [34:40] Steven S. DeKnight Exits Marvel Citing C.B. Cebulski's Akira Yoshida https://gizmodo.com/steven-s-deknight-exits-marvel-citing-c-b-cebulskis-a-1847840466 https://www.cbr.com/marvel-steven-deknight-on-cb-cebulski/ Steven DeKnight, a writer and executive producer on Season 1 of Netflix's Daredevil, says he has no plans to work with Marvel until the company addresses the Marvel Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski's "Akira Yoshida" controversy. While this news made headlines in 2017, DeKnight -- who's largely preoccupied with his film and television work -- only recently learned about it when it began making the rounds again on Twitter. "How does this man still have a job? Completely unacceptable," DeKnight tweeted. "I had no idea. I love writing for Marvel comics, but this changes the equation. Drastically. There are so many great editors there. To allow a man who climbed to the top through cultural identity theft to remain in that position is unconscionable." We talk to producer and screenwriter Steven S. DeKnight. He talks about his career highlight working on Spartacus, the opportunities he missed that led to him taking that meeting and the challenges (and excitement) working on Marvel's Daredevil. He talks honestly about when to push back on execs, how to compromise and when to admit you have it wrong.Steven talks about directing, what he got right, what he got horribly wrong and being shouted at by a line producer. And gives great advice about writing not what you know, but what you are passionate about.A masterclass from an industry giant.
Leslie Bibb can be seen starring in the big Netflix series Jupiter's Legacy opposite Josh Duhamel which will release May 7th (8 episodes). The highly anticipated comic book adaptation is an origin story about the world's first superheroes whose powers were bestowed upon them in the 1930's. Cut to 30 years later, they are now revered as the elder guard, who must contend with their own superpowered children who struggle to live up to the legendary feats of their parents. Created by Mark Millar and Steven DeKnight, and produced by Lorenzo DiBonaventura, Leslie plays the matriarch and one of the most powerful heroes on the planet. Leslie is currently in Australia shooting alongside Melissa McCarthy on the new Netflix series God's Favorite Idiot, which sounds hilarious, and in which Bibb plays Satan.. ha. I'm sure you know but Leslie is best known for her scene-stealing roles in films such as TALADEGA NIGHTS, THE ZOOKEEPER, IRON MAN and IRON MAN 2, TAG and PRIVATE PARTS. On television, she has starred on the ABC dramedy GCB by executive producer Darren Star and based on the book by Kim Gatlin, American Housewife, Nobodies, and The League. She began her career as a model and was discovered in a nationwide modeling search held by The Oprah Winfrey Show and the Elite Agency; from there, she started acting and went on to star in Ryan Murphy's hit WB TV series Popular. ¡¡¡HOLA MENSAHEROOOOOS!!! Netflix has unveiled the first of four original series from the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Daredevil, starring the most Catholic of all blind superheroes. Executive producers Drew Goddard and Steven DeKnight bring Matt Murdock to the small screen, played by Boardwalk Empire's Charlie Cox. The result is, well, it's surprisingly good, even by Marvel standards. Paul and AJ discuss the parallel structure that brings Wilson Fisk into sharp relief, the shocking deviation the show takes from the source material, the series' beautifully brutal fight scenes, and where things are headed next. Plus, because they're masochists, the boys also revisit the 2003 DD film starring Batman.

Finally, Jake and I give our impressions on the Daredevil TV series.
Steven DeKnight started his career teaching English as a Second Language. A job that was suppose to last 6 months lasted 6 years. Until he finally got a break writing for MTV's Undressed show. He worked on Buffy developing friendships that would last to this very day and beyond. He worked on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which lead to working on Angel, then Smallville, Dollhouse, a little short lived gem called Viva Laughlin (a musical drama on CBS with Hugh Jackman), helping create and show run Spartacus and now the hit Netflix/ Marvel show Daredevil. We talk about Show running, directing, producing, writing and he was even had aspirations of being an actor. We talk about Joss Whedon, Drew Goddard, Doug Petrie, tattoos, how horrible it was losing the lead of Spartacus- Andy Whitfield- to cancer, the bravery of his replacement with Liam McIntyre, being a Howard Stern fan, reading good and bad reviews, , we talk about Daredevil, how he was bought in kind of last minute, working 7 days a week to get the series made, casting Daredevil, working with Jeph Loeb, Deborah Ann Wolls audition and casting process and how it almost didnt happen, how Richard Gere was considered for Wilson Fisk, and so much more!!
