In this episode, we'll cover dysmenorrhea (from the Greek, meaning ‘painful monthly bleeding' Did you know that menstrual pain affects 90% of those who menstruate, with 9% of those dealing with severe pain? That endometriosis affects at least 10% of women worldwide? That although meds and surgery are often offered as first line approaches, there's good evidence to support other self management strategies including a whole person pelvic rehab biopsychosocial approach that includes lifestyle, movement, manual therapy to calm the nervous system and the pelvic floor, tens and pelvic pain education including strategies for bladder, bowel & sexual health. If we remember that lots of things go into the biopsychosocial bucket, including how we move, how we manage stress, how we eat, how we sleep …as well as tissue disorders, then we can provide, in the words of Mardon et al ‘validation, reassurance, education and empowerment'. On l'ignore.

Al's first trip to Bonneville was in 1967 as a crew member on the Mardon, Ohly and Bentley fuel roadster. From 1968 to 1975 he drove and wrenched on the Sadd, Teague and Bentley fuel roadster. In 1970 he qualified for the 200 MPH Club in both A/FR & C/FR. But 200 MPH wasn't fast enough for Al, and in 1976 he built a B/FBL and in 1981 he set a record with that lakester at 308 MPH. The lakester wasconverted into a streamliner and in 1982 and in 1991 he set a BNI/FIA record of 409.986 with a 425 mile average and a terminal speed of 432. At the time, it was the fastest wheel driven car ever! Al has received the Hot Rod Magazine trophy 11 times! The streamliner was retired 2002 after setting another FIA record at 405 MPH. Both the roadster and the streamliner are in the John Price Museum in Salt Lake City. Heads up this going to be as exciting as 400 MPH ALTEAGUE RUN
Happy Friday the 13th! To kick off 2023 Chris and I interviewed the fantastically fun Tony Mardon. An actor and horror director, he has worked with horror legends like Ian McCulloch (It!), Pauline Peart (The Satanic Rites of Dracula), and Linzi Drew (American Werewolf in London). Join us as we ask Tony everything from directing tips, horror starter movies, and stories and insight on his latest works - Libra, Don't Sit On His Face and Witches of the Sands. The rating is "explicit" for sexual content in the film/plot context. Tony's latest shorts will be premiering at the Horror-on-Sea Film Festival and you can follow film updates on Instagram @the_witches_of_the_sands.
Paul and Chris were both in the Youth Trainee Scheme at Bristol City and both made it through to the first team in the late 80's. Some great stories, player accounts and of course that game at Nottingham Forest all discussed.
Amelia "Millie" Mardon is a full time PHD student at The University of South Australia working to improve our understanding of persistent pelvic pain. Millie and her amazing colleagues have published a systematic review of the efficacy of self management strategies for females with endometriosis, and more recently a systematic review on the treatment recommendations for the management of persistent pelvic pain. She shares with us the insights she has learnt from her research, and how we can benefit from these as clinicians. She has a vision to write an “Explain Pain” style book for women with persistent pelvic pain - which we wait for excitedly. We loved talking to Millie and we hope you enjoy the show. The science of what’s happening in the world now is overwhelming but the economics of COVID-19 is a subject that’s just as vital and affects all of us. Entrepreneurs John Anderson and Perry Mardon join Sharon Pearson to share their future-proofing strategies and discuss how to create the life you want in the second part of the ‘Lockdown: The Way Out’ podcast. They talk innovation and opportunities—Perry advises looking for trends while perhaps parting ways with existing parts of your business—and John made me laugh with his description of where to find your next big thing: “Fish where the ducks are quacking.” Resources: Follow Perry Mardon: www.facebook.com/PerryMardon www.twitter.com/PerryMardon www.youtube.com/user/PerryMardon www.perrymardon.com.au www.recessionbusters.com.au Follow Sharon Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SharonPearsonFanPage/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sharon.pearson.official/ Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/sharonpearsontcicoach/ Website: https://www.sharonpearson.com/ Follow The Coaching Institute: Website: https://www.thecoachinginstitute.com.au/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BecomeALifeCoach Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/company/the-coaching-institute/ Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/thecoachinginstitute/ Eventbrite:https://www.eventbrite.com.au/o/the-coaching-institute-21677000212 Order Ultimate You Book: https://tci.rocks/ultimate-you-book · Upcoming Events at The Coaching Institute - www.thecoachinginstitute.com.au/trainings · Disruptive Leadership- https://www.disruptiveleading.com/ · Phone The Coaching Institute - 1800 094 927 · Feedback/Reviews/Suggest a topics be discussed - perspectives@sharonpearson.com
Like Sharon Pearson—who they call Remi—Australian entrepreneurs Perry Mardon and John Anderson have run businesses with global clients for decades. When the worldwide coronavirus pandemic and lockdown hit, they were in different stages of preparation and acceptance, but both quickly pivoted to an online presence. “We got whacked,” admits Perry, whose major move was his purchase of site recessionbusters.com.au for $12. The trio talks business in these times, their strategies for finding a new way to do business, social and mainstream media, silos, values, mentors and rituals. “You want to be flowing with the stream,” says John of where to put energy, time and money. “Fish where the ducks are quacking.” Resources: Follow Perry Mardon: www.facebook.com/PerryMardon www.twitter.com/PerryMardon www.youtube.com/user/PerryMardon www.perrymardon.com.au www.recessionbusters.com.au Follow Sharon Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SharonPearsonFanPage/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sharon.pearson.official/ Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/sharonpearsontcicoach/ Website: https://www.sharonpearson.com/ Follow The Coaching Institute: Website: https://www.thecoachinginstitute.com.au/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BecomeALifeCoach Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/company/the-coaching-institute/ Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/thecoachinginstitute/ Eventbrite:https://www.eventbrite.com.au/o/the-coaching-institute-21677000212 Order Ultimate You Book: https://tci.rocks/ultimate-you-book · Upcoming Events at The Coaching Institute - www.thecoachinginstitute.com.au/trainings · Disruptive Leadership- https://www.disruptiveleading.com/ · Phone The Coaching Institute - 1800 094 927 · Feedback/Reviews/Suggest a topics be discussed - perspectives@sharonpearson.com Coronavirus deaths in Australia as of June 28: https://www.health.gov.au/news/health-alerts/novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov-health-alert/coronavirus-covid-19-current-situation-and-case-numbers Flu deaths in Australia in 2019: https://www.sonichealthplus.com.au/health-hub/flu/item/2019-flu-season-2nd-worst-on-record Road accident deaths Australia: https://www.bitre.gov.au/publications/ongoing/road_deaths_australia_monthly_bulletins Opioid epidemic in the United States of America: https://www.drugabuse.gov/drug-topics/opioids/opioid-overdose-crisis Scotland’s drug death crisis: https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-48853004 USA unemployment figures as of June 5 2020: https://www.bls.gov/news.release/pdf/empsit.pdf

“City of Heroes” Episode Description: Barry Allen, a forensic crime scene assistant for Central City Police Department, is struck by lightning during a storm that is created after a particle accelerator from S.T.A.R. Labs explodes. In a coma for nine months, Barry awakens in S.T.A.R. Labs, having been placed in the care of his scientist idol, Dr. Harrison Wells, along with his assistants, Dr. Caitlin Snow and Cisco Ramon. Barry quickly learns that he can move at extraordinary speeds, and that there were other “metahumans” created from the explosion. One of them, Clyde Mardon, is robbing banks and murdering people in the city with his ability to control the weather. In order to stop Clyde, Barry is outfitted with a suit that can withstand his high speed of movement. He tracks down Mardon and with the help of Detective West, who learns of Barry’s abilities, he is able to stop him. With his new powers, Barry vows to his father of finding out who killed his mother when he was a child, believing him to be another metahuman who has similar abilities of speed as his. Elsewhere, in a secret room at S.T.A.R Labs, Wells reveals he is not paraplegic, while reading a newspaper from the future concerning Barry’s fate as the Flash. Aging-in-place is a concept that supports the choice of older adults to remain living in their preferred environment for as long as possible even if circumstances change. Physical environment, social and psychological support, and community resources affect aging-in-place. The concept is starting to gain attention and services and support to assist older adults to age-in-place continue to grow. Typically, a high percentage of a city's seniors (65 and older) own and live in their own homes. Approximately four out of five have paid off the mortgage. These older seniors may be reaching the point of having to decide whether to move into a care facility or stay in their homes. It can be assumed that most would prefer to do the latter, and research shows that may be the least costly alternative. However, elderly seniors may not be able to live independently in their own homes and remain healthy without considerable help. The speaker will highlight two residences that are designed to be barrier free for aging-in-place and also outline several challenges that have to be overcome before it truly can be a desirable option for many seniors. What are the costs and who will bear the financial responsibility? Speaker: Dr. Austin Mardon Austin Mardon was born in Edmonton but raised in Lethbridge where he finished his degree at the University of Lethbridge. While an undergraduate geography student, he was accepted as a field scientist on the ASMET NSF/NASA sponsored Antarctic meteorite recovery expedition. His descent into mental illness slowly started after he returned from Antarctica suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. He was able to complete two additional graduate degrees in the USA before suffering a complete breakdown, and was subsequently diagnosed with schizophrenia. The first thing Austin was told after being diagnosed was that his life was over. However it was not, as he continued on to finish a distance PhD and then established Prosper Place Clubhouse in Edmonton, a place where adults with mental illness can safely learn to live with their illness. He has also served on numerous committees and boards. Currently he serves on the Premier's Council on the status of persons with disabilities and the Alberta College of social workers. Dr. Mardon received the order of Canada in 2007 and has received high awards from SSC and CMHA. This year he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Alberta and the Medal of Honor, highest award for a non-physician, from the CMA.
