Entering the contest, Trump had earned 273 delegates—he now has 1,004 delegates and is expected to reach the 1,215 delegates needed to officially win the party's nomination as soon as March 12th. Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Trump's primary rival Nikki Haley announced she was suspending her campaign after winning only one primary (Vermont) on Tuesday. 3:15pm- Shane Goldmacher and Adam Nagourney of The New York Times write of President Joe Biden's Super Tuesday performance, which saw him reach 1,506 delegates of the 1,968 needed to win the Democrat party's nomination: “But yet again there were flashing lights for a president who is struggling to rally the whole of his party behind him. Nearly 20 percent of Democrats in Minnesota voted for ‘Uncommitted,' in an apparent protest vote against Mr. Biden's support of the Israel military response to the Hamas terrorist attack of Oct 7. Mr. Biden won less than two-thirds of the vote in Hennepin County, home to Minneapolis. The protest was an extension of a campaign that started in Michigan last week, when 13 percent of Democrats voted uncommitted. The larger share in a state with fewer Arab American voters—but a large and active progressive wing—suggested that the movement of voters pressing Mr. Biden for a policy change was gaining traction. There were other signs, too. In Colorado, the noncommitted vote was 8 percent. Riley writes: “In November, the New York Times and Siena College released polling results in six swing states that are expected to determine the election: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The survey indicated that 22% of blacks would vote for Mr. Trump, along with 42% of Hispanics. In 2020 Mr. Biden won the black vote, 92% to 8% and the Hispanic vote 59% to 38%, according to the Pew Research Center. Black and Hispanic voters have been an important part of the Democratic base for decades, but these coalitions aren't everlasting. In 2016 Mr. Trump won by energizing people who hadn't been politically active. Now he's stealing voters from the other team. Ok, not really. The Department of Justice has charged a California man with smuggling greenhouse gases into the United States. Meanwhile, an undocumented migrant—who is wanted for rape in Oregon—was arrested in Florida, but Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) refused to take him citing a lack of detention room. During a press conference, Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) explained that his administration pressured ICE until it did its job. 4:50pm- BREAKING NEWS: 6ABC Digital Staff writes: “At least eight people were shot at a SEPTA bus stop in Philadelphia's Burholme neighborhood, Action News has learned. The gunfire rang out around 3 p.m. Wednesday at Rising Sun and Cottman avenues. Sources tell Action News that at least four of the eight victims are juveniles. Similarly, a recently published New York Times article suggests that Biden's inner circle just needs to “let Joe be Joe” via TikTok posts, late-night talk show appearances, and chatting with reporters. How many 80-year-olds are posting on TikTok? Is this strategy really letting Joe be Joe? 5:15pm- Why did Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis meet with Vice President Kamala Harris before indicting former President Donald Trump? A Georgia court is hearing testimony to determine if Willis should be disqualified from the Georgia election interference case she brought against Trump. According to allegations, Willis engaged in an improper, romantic relationship with the lead prosecutor of the case, Wade—paying him an estimated $650,000 in taxpayer money. Willis is also alleged to have directly derived financial benefit from the relationship with Wade in the form of several extravagant vacations. Last month, Robin Yeartie—a longtime friend of Willis—testified that Willis and Wade had a romantic relationship dating back to 2019. 5:30pm- Grace Ashford of The New York Times writes: “Former Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo of New York has been subpoenaed to appear before a House subcommittee to answer for his administration's handling of nursing homes during the coronavirus pandemic, reigniting a flashpoint that could further damage his chances at a political comeback… The Assembly investigation did not directly evaluate whether Mr. Cuomo's order had led to the deadly outbreaks in nursing homes. But it did find that the administration had selectively reported statistics from those facilities to avoid criticism. At issue was New York State's method of categorizing nursing home deaths. Andrew M. Cuomo is the 56th Governor of New York. Governor Cuomo is the Dean of the nation's Democratic Governors and currently serves as Chairman of the National Governors Association. Prior to his election as Governor, Cuomo served as the 64th Attorney General of New York. From 1997-2001, Cuomo served as the 11th United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under President Bill Clinton. A deeply divided and polarized nation has presented unique challenges in getting control of the COVID-19 pandemic. Large swaths of the population will refuse to abide by guidance or direction simply because of their dislike and distrust of the political party delivering the message. These issues were exacerbated by President Trumps denial of the facts where he intentionally downplayed the seriousness of the virus. “It was just total government incompetence. It was a denial, in that the President now admits he lied about it… He was afraid that if they knew the truth it would hurt the economy.” The Biden administration must put almost all of their focus into getting COVID under control and administering the vaccine coupled with stimulus aid to people and states. Cuomo even threatened to sue if the state doesn't get the $15 billion in federal aid that he has requested. That's enough to fill the budget gap that the governor and budget officials have cited for months. The executive budget paints a bleak picture for localities – especially those that rely on state aid. Podczas posiedzenia Komisji Zdrowia poświęconego realizacji Narodowego Programu Szczepień przeciwko COVID-19 mówił o wynikach kontroli prowadzonej w WUM przez Narodowy Fundusz Zdrowia. Adam Niedzielski powiedział, że po pierwszym jej dniu można stwierdzić, iż podczas szczepień celebrytów mieliśmy do czynienia "z nieprawidłowościami, które nie były przypadkowe". "To było celowe działanie." Minister dodał, że listy osób do tego zaszczepienia były wysłane już 28 grudnia, czyli zanim były dopuszczone jakiekolwiek odstępstwa od przyjętej kolejności szczepień. "Pełna intencjonalność jest ewidentna i będziemy wyciągali surowe kary" - zapowiedział. Na WUM poza kolejnością zaszczepieni zostali między innymi były premier, a obecnie europoseł SLD Leszek Miller, dyrektor programowy TVN Edward Miszczak i aktorka Krystyna Janda. Do przyjęcia pierwszej dawki szczepionki przyznała się też aktorka Maria Seweryn. Szczepionkę przeciwko COVID-19 otrzymali także Wiktor Zborowski i Radosław Pazura. On Dec 24, 2020 Governor Andrew M. Zaszczepienie było emitowane na żywo w trakcie transmisji zorganizowanej przez gubernatora Andrew M. Cuomo. Dzisiaj, pierwsze dozy szczepiinki Pfizer-BioNTech, dostarczone zostały do wielu szpitali na terenie USA. / Kolegium Elektorów odda dziś głosy w wyborach prezydenta Stanów Zjednoczonych. Według certyfikowanych przez wszystkie stany wyników listopadowego głosowania kandydat demokratów Joe Biden pokonał w nich kandydata republikanów Donalda Trumpa. Zgodnie z nimi Komisja Europejska w osobnej deklaracji zobowiązała się do zastosowania uzgodnień. (IAR)POLSKA – Nie żyje Piotr Machalica, aktor teatralny i filmowy, a także wykonawca piosenek aktorskich nagrodzony między innymi na Krajowym Festiwalu Piosenki Polskiej w Opolu w 1986 roku. Często interpretował utwory Georg'a Brassensa i Bułata Okudżawy. W ubiegłym roku wydał płytę będącą hołdem dla twórczości Wojciecha Młynarskiego. Piotr Machalica zmarł nagle w szpitalu, do którego trafił w weekend w ciężkim stanie. Miał 65 lat. Od 1981 roku przez ponad 20 lat występował na deskach Teatru Powszechnego w Warszawie, choć pojawiał się też na innych scenach - w Ateneum, Syrenie, Prezentacjach czy Na Targówku. According to governor.ny.gov, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo recently announced that based on each region's infection rate, schools across the state are permitted to open this fall. Every region's infection rate is below the threshold necessary by the State's standards to open schools. The Department of Health will review submitted reopening plans from school districts and notify districts of their status on Monday. Out of 749 school districts across the state, 127 have not yet submitted plans to the Department of Health, and another 50 are incomplete or deficient. The determination of how individual districts reopen - in-person vs a hybrid model - will be made by local school districts under strict Department of Health guidelines. The Governor also announced that school districts must post their remote learning plan online as well as their plan for testing and tracing students and teachers. Schools must also have three to five public meetings prior to August 21 with parents - who will be allowed to participate remotely - as well as one meeting with teachers to go through their reopening plan. "Based on our infection rate, New York State is in the best possible situation right now. If anybody can open schools, we can open schools. We do masks, we do social distancing, we've kept that infection rate down, and we can bring the same level of intelligence to the school reopening that we brought to the economic reopening," Governor Cuomo said. " Our school guidance has been touted as the smartest in the country. Our economic reopening guidance was the smartest in the country. So, if anyone can do it, we can do it. But we have been successful because we've been smart and we have to continue to be smart. Parents and teachers must feel safe and secure in each school district's plan to return to school, and those plans must adhere to the Department of Health's guidance. To ensure that is the case, New York's family's must be fully informed and part of the conversation. And so, over the next several weeks, school districts must engage: Talking to parents and teachers and getting all parties on board." Of the 70,170 test results reported to New York State yesterday, 714, or 1.0 percent, were positive. Today I am joined by Superintendent Anibal Soler. Mr. Anibal Soler, Jr. is currently the Superintendent of Schools for the Batavia City School District. A small city school district located in Genesee County that serves approximately 2,200 students. Before his appointment as Superintendent of Batavia City Schools, Anibal served as the Associate Superintendent of Strategic Alignment and Innovation for Buffalo Public Schools, the second-largest school district in New York State. In that role, his leadership focused on building and supporting Strong Community Schools, a turnaround strategy used to move the district’s lowest-performing schools to schools in “good-standing”. He also supervised District Athletics and Adult Education Division and lastly the district’s My Brother’s Keeper initiative. Prior to his role as an Associate Superintendent, Anibal was a Principal at North Park Academy in North Buffalo, where he helped establish North Buffalo’s first community school and helped transition the school from a 5-8th grade school to a new PreK to 8 Community School. Previous to his role at North Park Academy, Anibal served 7 years as a high school Principal in the Rochester City School district where he led the district's largest comprehensive high school. Through his professional journey, he also has served in prior capacities as an Academy Director, Instructional Technology Teacher, and Art Teacher. In 2014, Anibal was recognized by President Obama and The White House as a Latino Educator Champion of Change for his leadership and commitment to positive change for the Latino community. Additionally, Anibal is a member of the Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (ALAS) a national organization that advocates for Latinos and Latino educators. In 2011-12, Anibal was a Charter Member of the inaugural ALAS Superintendents Leadership Academy in 2011-12. Currently, he serves as the Communications Officer and Regional Board member for the New York State Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (NYSALAS) representing Western, NY. This past October 2019, Mayor Byron Brown of the City of Buffalo recognized Anibal as a Champion of Education as part of Buffalo’s Hispanic Heritage Month celebration. Bars and restaurants have worked to reopen and operate safely this spring and summer, but an announcement from New York State Governor Andrew M. Cuomo on Thursday morning adds new restrictions. Effective immediately, bars and restaurants “must only serve alcohol to people who are ordering and eating food.” Further, bars are not allowed to take orders across a bar top except from patrons seated at the bar following distancing and/or barrier requirements.
