How do you hold yourself accountable? Do you measure your goals? Do you blame others? Are you happy how you are currently showing up for yourself and others? In life we often can get caught up in all that life throws at us but that does not mean it is impossible to realign, refocus and be responsible for the current and future state of our individual lives. Check Yourself before it's too late! @DBAMTV@DREAMSBYANYMEANS
It's much easier to point out when someone else makes a mistake or is acting out of character than it is to check yourself. In today's episode, I talk about holding ourselves accountable and checking ourselves when we're not being the best that we can be. It's important to take a step back and look at how we're behaving and how we're treating others. It's not enough to talk about how good of a person you are; you also need to show up as her. Humility is not by accident but a conscious effort on our part. It's not present in our resume or a checkbox on our list of accomplishments, but only happens because of who Jesus is. In Matthew 23: 11-12, Jesus was speaking among those who looked and acted like they had it all together: The greatest among you will be your servant. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. Today it's not much different but what does this look like every day? Incorporating humility into your daily life might feel like a challenging task in a world that teaches self-promotion, but getting to the heart of it looks like loving and investing in other people. In a world that rewards self-promotion, learning to be humble in your daily life can seem difficult. At its heart, though, humility is about loving and investing in other people.See Isaiah 2:12, Proverbs 16:5, Proverbs 16:18 Luke 18:9-14 So is the way up in this world really to stepcome back down? Join Pastor Ron Cathcart as he walks you through the principles and teachings of humility so you can walk in it every single day of your life! CHECK YOURSELF Examining yourself means a heart check. The way you walk in your life will come out in the way you live your life! Ask yourself is it all about me or is it about Jesus? Proverbs 4:23, 1 John 2: 15-17, 1 Peter 5: 5-6, James 4: 6-10, Proverbs 13:10 MEET WITH GOD DAILY It's not just about listening to the sermon on Sunday, but getting into God's Word everyday. When you make this a daily practice, you will find God will speak into your life and that you in turn, are not the hero of the story. By making this a daily practice, you'll discover that God speaks into your life more often, and, in turn, you'll realize you're not the hero of the story. Isaiah 40:25-26 BE LIKE JESUS Jesus humbled himself to the point of death on a cross. He was the most humble man to ever walk the earth. Today that might look like putting aside your to do list to take care of a person in need.Philippians 2:3, Philippians 2:5-9SERVE OTHERS Jesus washed the feet of others. In His greatest time of need before going to the cross, Jesus put others before Himself. Getting in the middle of someone else's mess or circumstances is putting their needs before your own! Thank you to the Walls Group for “Lord I Need You.” No rights owned. Col. 2:6-14 Check Yourself This book, Colossians, was written while Paul was in a Roman prison. The church that had been planted had been infiltrated with false teachings and all kinds of worldly philosophies and religions. It had even gotten to the point where many were denying the Deity and power of Christ as God and Savior. Well, when we look around today, we see many of the same type of ideologies. We see people who, rather than look to Christ for answers, they push man-made approaches to life's problems that totally disregard God. Let's look at some modern-day philosophies/practices. All of these are not bad entities. These can be wonderful ways to practice our faith and live out our belief in Christ, but the problem comes in when we try to practice these things APART FROM GOD, because when we leave God out of the equation, then we are practicing a false religion and as Christians, then we are no better than pagans that depend on their idols to do for them what they cannot do.1. Legislation2. Pay it Forward3. Gratitude4. Meditation5. Time ManagementA. The 12 Week YearB. The 4-Hour Work Week6. Managing and Communicating w/People But these things alone, cannot accomplish for us, what we need. As the song says that we just heard, Lord I tried it on my own Put faith in me But the truth came to be Lord I need you! Lord I need You! So Paul in his letter to the Colossians gives them some practical advice that I want to share with you today. Things that we need to remember and to practice in our own lives so that we don't fall prey to the world's empty strategies that might work for a while, but then live us stranded in days to come. So, check yourself and make sure you are living out the right belief system. 1. Know that the saved life means:A. Rooted and built up in ChristB. Strengthened in the faith—practicing having faith in the things that the Holy Spirit is guiding you to say and do—no matter how non-sensical it may seem at the time. When David went to fight Goliath with a sling shot and 5 stones, it did not make sense, but his obedience got him the victory.C. Overflowing thankfulness as Paul says at the end of v. 7 2. Don't be taken captive by these things:A. Hollow and deceptive philosophies like those who live their lives by following the stars and astrology and such thingsB. Human tradition and worldly specific forces—The Church is one of the main culprits of this—Jesus is the same, yesterday, today, and forever, but He is a progressive God—so updating the way we do church, the way we give, the way we display our faith to others is not wrong. Keeping traditions will not save us. 3. We must remember:A. Christ is the head of all of us. We didn't create ourselves and we can't save ourselves.B. He made us alive because we were in essence dead in our sins and trespassesC. He nailed all our legal obligations and indebtedness—all our sin to the cross and canceled. So now we are free to live our lives to the fullest –allowing Him to live through us—realizing and knowing that He knows what's best for us and truly loves us. So today—Again I say Check Yourself before you Wreck Yourself. We need God. We cannot do this alone. But with Him—all things are possible. God Bless You. B. Cox reviews Ice Cube's third album The Predator as it turns 30. In the midst of the one most prolific and successful runs in hip-hop history stretching back his days as with NWA, the soon-to-be West Coast icon created and released his album in the time of transition of turmoil. Hip-Hop acclaim and recognition was beginning to spread its sphere of influence out to the West Coast. to mirror this rise in the commercial success of West Coast hip-hop was great angst. The album was completed in the heat of the aftermath of the Rodney King verdict, which sparked the now infamous 1992 L.A. riots, further fueling political and racial tensions. Not to be dismayed, Cube pressed on to continue his holy trinity of LPs, combining yet again with longtime collaborator Sir Jinx and also new production teammates in DJ Pooh and DJ Muggs of Cypress Hill. Over hard hitting and consistent production filled in with cuts of news footage and commentary that reflected times, he packaged the perfect combination of lyrics that reflected his political mindstate amidst the turmoil, told gangsta tales and told stories of what life like was in like in black Los Angeles. The album was critically acclaimed and was certified double platinum and featured two Cube standout singles: "Check Yourself" and the classic "It Was A Good Day", which has garnered the respect and adulation of hip-hop fans 30 years after its release.Visit The Vault Classic Music Reviews Onlinewww.vaultclassicpod.comSupport The Vault Classic Music Review on Buy Me A Coffeehttps://www.buymeacoffee.com/vaultclassicpodShow NotesAlbumism: Ice Cube's 'The Predator' Turns 30 | Anniversary Retrospectivehttps://albumism.com/features/ice-cube-the-predator-album-anniversaryBrooklyn Radio: #30thAnniversary: Ice Cube "The Predator" http://brooklynradio.com/30thanniversary-ice-cube-the-predator/Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-vault-classic-music-reviews-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Organizations have seen talent being mobile, especially in the Great Resignation. Attrition rates have reached their all-time-high. Employees have opened the doors to different opportunities and work arrangements in the creation of “culturally fit” organizations. Leaders should be able to improve the company's talent retention processes by making their team members feel “included” as future work is being redefined. This month we are checking ourselves! *snaps fingers in a Z formation* Sometimes it is us. We can be the toxic friend, the petty manager, or even the Debbie Downer. So on this first installation of the #CheckYourself series, we are getting raw and honest to talk about being a hater. Let's be real- there are times when we simply aren't genuinely happy for all the successes everyone around us seems to be enjoying. The age of social media can have us drooling over everyone else's highlight reel and wondering why it just hasn't happened for us. *cue the tiny violin and self-pity* This episode, we discuss how to trust that our goodness is on the way while choosing to turn those tempting moments of bitterness into opportunities to grow up so you can glow up. Listen in!
Most of us will experience physical, emotional and even spiritual pain. It can be temporary or longer lasting. The miracle of healing on all levels has always been within us, as is our peace. The challenge: where to start to experience the joy of living a Vibrant Purposeful Life. Start your healing journey, Restore your hope, Find your inner peace, Change your life, and Inspire yourself.
