It was a nice tight show until it wasn't. The boys kicked things off with a tasting of what may be the BEST DAMN PREMIUM ALCOHOLIC #SELTZER period (Chef's Kiss). Once the pleasantries were exchanged, the heat kicked in. The discussions got weird… #Threads vs #Twitter, Hubs vs Clubs, McGregor vs Pauls, Prime vs ZOA, Fantasy vs Best Friend's Wedding, #DC vs #Marvel, and more. Hey.. we told you it got weird! We're back with part 2 of a topic that has angered us to our very core - Self Defense Murders! It's honestly wild how many of these are super NOT self defense, and the overuse of that as a means of getting away with murder clearly harms those who truly did make the horrific decision to kill someone to protect themselves. These cases highlight the ways in which our justice system is extremely flawed, biased, and often, just plain wrong. That being said, in at least one of these cases, the jury got it right, and the satisfaction we get from that, dear listeners, is truly Chef's Kiss.Cases Covered: 1. Jessica Riggins2. Welcome to the fantasy playoffs! Dr. Deepak Chona (@SportMDAnalysis) jump-starts the show with his weekly injury report, and then host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) welcomes in Wyatt Bertolone (WyattB_FF) of JWB Fantasy Football and Dynasty League Football. Wyatt and Pat talk about their own playoff outlooks, then focus the conversation on Travis Etienne and whether he can be trusted for the fantasy postseason. There's also some discussion about the 49ers offense and what it might look like without Deebo Samuel, the short-term outlook for Zonovan Knight, and the rise of TEs Evan Engram and Chigoziem Okonkwo. An Ohio resident and Cleveland Browns fan, Wyatt weighs in on some Browns topics, including expectations for Deshaun Watson, Donovan Peoples-Jones' future, and David Njoku's better-late-than-never breakout. Wyatt talks about his former life as a chef, what he likes to cook and eat, and his favorite restaurants. Wyatt and Pat discuss J.K. Dobbins' return, Jared Goff's long-term outlook and D'Andre Swift's unpredictability. Wyatt offers opinions on which WR should be taken first in 2023 fantasy drafts and which player should be taken first in dynasty rookie drafts. He also lists some of his biggest hits and misses of 2022. On the episode of OutWithDan, host Dan White chats with TJ Alexander about their debut novel Chef's Kiss. This delightful romance follows Simone Larkspur as she navigates her dream job at The Discerning Chef. All is going great until she encounters Ray and the new changes which are happening at TDC. The sparks between Simone and Ray are instant and burn hot as they learn to dance around and with each other. What we discover is a book that lovingly explores the lives and loves of the characters and how in the most adverse of times, they form a solid tribe to protect and uplift each other. And what happens when Simone meets her culinary idol is simply breathtaking! They have created a novel for us to both delight in and cheer for. Bravo TJ.

DeSantis, Fox News, and the Martha's Vineyard 'Stunt' On Tuesday, Venezuelan migrants flown to Martha's Vineyard sued Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for engaging in a duplicitous scheme to relocate them — a trip which was filmed and sent to Fox News as an exclusive. DeSantis admitted to his involvement in the scheme, but argued none of the travelers were forced to go. The attorneys representing the 48 people on those flights, however, claim that they were deceived into boarding — enticed with promises of jobs, housing, and cash assistance that never appeared. Philip Bump, national correspondent for The Washington Post, suggests that this was a made-for-Fox event, and explains how the flights fit into a broader strategy DeSantis has been crafting for years. What does the popularity of culinary foam say about the types of food – and the kinds of chefs – we value? When Geraldine DeRuiter wrote about her meal at “the worst Michelin starred restaurant, ever,” she didn't expect to start a global controversy. The tasting menu she had at Bros, in Lecce, Italy, was a bizarre, avant garde dining experience, the pinnacle being the “Chef's Kiss” dish, a plaster cast of a mouth with foam dripping out of it. What followed was a whole conversation online about the nature of food as art, the role of a chef, and the pretentiousness of fine dining. And as we dug in more, we started to see how the “Chef's Kiss” was not just a ridiculous dish on a bizarre menu, but how foam was a metaphor for the flaws of fine dining and the toxicity of the “abusive genius” chef. Summary: Grab your phones and log onto Instagram, Holly and Devin dive into social media themes today! They investigate how social media can be a hindrance and a help for protagonists in modern novels. Holly and Devin both agree that leaning on miscommunication from social media can feel lazy and frustrating, but when used well, social media accents can build intrigue and serve the plot well. Holly generally hates modern books and will avoid any book that prints text bubbles, but Devin's romances are rife with texts, emails, and DMs. Also, we have officially launched the Hearts & Daggers Online Shop on Bookshop.org! That means you can purchase books you hear us talk about on the show - or any other books you're looking to read - via our dedicated store link and your purchase will directly support our show. Topics Discussed: The Dagger (4:51): Holly discussed Like a Sister by Kellye Garrett, which follows Lena as she tries to piece together what really happened to her reality TV star and influencer sister, Desiree, after she was found dead in a playground in the Bronx, NYC. Her key takeaways were: Social media is an integral part of the novel; Garrett not only explores celebrity and the way social media allows us only small glimpses into someone's life, but also how misinterpretation can impact those closest to us. Lena and Desiree are half-sisters who could not have had more different upbringings; Lena has a graduate degree from Columbia and lives a quiet life, while Desiree was more privileged, reckless, and enjoyed time in the public eye. The book oscillates between Lena's first-person voice as she figures out her sister's death and glimpses at Desiree's recent social media posts, counting forward to the night she died. The Heart (21:26): Devin discussed Chef's Kiss by T.J. Alexander, a book that follows Simone Larkspur as she is shoved into the limelight with her outgoing coworker Ray Lyton to record videos that are designed to revitalize the old-school cookbook publisher The Discerning Chef. Her key takeaways were: While social media isn't the focal point of the book, it acts as a catalyst for the initial plot and to augment tension and call out the dynamic between Simone and Ray through youtube comments, video feedback etc. Alexander examines public vs. private life through the lens of Ray coming out as nonbinary, wanting to be open, and being silenced and mistreated by the leadership at The Discerning Chef. While the book is told from Simone's point of view, the true star and driving force behind the plot is Ray; their experience and perseverance in fighting toward the life they deserve and imagined is admirable and informative. Please note there are trigger warnings for transphobia, misgendering, and homophobia in the novel. Hot On the Shelf (43:02): Holly: The Change by Kirsten Miller Devin: Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez What's Making Our Hearts Race (47:04): Holly: Everything Everywhere All At Once starring Michelle Yeoh Devin: Twilight Films on Amazon Prime Instagram: @heartsanddaggerspod Website: www.heartsanddaggerspod.com If you like what you hear, please tell your friends and rate and review us on Apple Podcasts and Spotify so that we can find our perfect audience.

We now have Merch: https://www.etsy.com/shop/RULETHEGALAXY?ref=shop_sugg In this episode of Rule the Galaxy we have a full crew and a special guest. Joe, Alfie, Brent, Dave and Nick welcome Steve Glosson of Geek Out Loud. We discuss a number of Star Wars topics: Will there be Bothans in Andor series? What Star Wars collectible is Alfie getting soon? And when will his Boba Fett helmet show up? Our Mortis Poll on Twitter had around 150 votes, and to my surprise 75% of the responses were that people loved that Arc. Steve thought the number would be higher...which led to Steve and Brent discussing the merits of Mortis! Adam Bray wanted to know what the name of Steve's personal starship would be in Star Wars. We had a Quantum Leap question for Steve but I am not sure we ever got an answer. Reminder, that our crew will be attending ICCC in Nashville April 29 - May 1 and we hope to see you there. Book of Boba Fett Episode 6 - From the Desert comes a Stranger. This was some of our favorite Star Wars in a long time. It hit all the emotions and feelings that Star Wars fans have been looking for. Everyone loved seeing Cobb Vanth back. Why did R2 shut down with Mando? LUKE!!!! Seeing Luke this way was incredible...not only the technology but the story. Seeing the Clones killing Jedi at the temple during Order 66 in Grogu's memory was outstanding. AHSOKA!!! We are old family friends...just great! Her and R2 together again...made us melt "No place more safe than with Luke" Is Grogu a Foundling or Padawan? Luke and Ahsoka!!! I think this means so much to Star Wars fans. This week is jam-packed! Peacock released RHUGT early and we are LOVING it! Seeing all of these women together have fun and be vulnerable is such a good time of silly and nice. Do yourself a favor and check it out! Winter House continues to entertain us with low stakes like Luke denying Gabby but writing a note to Julia. Lindsay and Jason find themselves together as a process of elimination and Andy may be leading on Paige... We are getting a tad bored with VPR. Is Lala a victim? How did Tom get himself into so much debt? Will Schwartz and Sandy's become The Maloney Bar?! Karen and Gizelle understand their roles in Potomac and we loved seeing their hug. Can they please team up next season? How long will Nicki Minaj be "hosting" for and will it be longer than Askale got to sit on a couch? Andy said that this episode of RHOSLC was a Top 5 housewives episode, and he didn't disappoint. Watching these ladies process all of the information was riveting. The extra footage! CHEF'S KISS! Meredith had a PI following Jen so this Shahrrest was not surprising to her at all or did she imbibe on fast-acting gummies. She was in that bathtub for like 4 hours! All we know is we need more! Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday, y'all remember that song? (Unfortunately, I do) you know what's not unfortunate, Paul and Mike "The Pig" Crum recording a review and preview episode. There was no guest this week, so Paul and Mike discussed the Monday Night massacre of the Philadelphia Eagles and preview the game versus the Carolina Panthers. Carolina is 3-0 but without CMC and Jaycee Horn, this will be the fourth week in a row where the Cowboys face a team missing a key piece. Sam Darnold is having a strong start to his Panthers' career, but one would think the Cowboys' defense has this game circled on their calendar after calling the Dallas defense predictable in 2019. This will be Carolinas' toughest test of the season, will Dak and the offense be ready for the challenge by the Panthers' defense? If you're a regular listener, you'll notice that the start of the show is a little different than usual. No, it's not more food talk (surprisingly) but Mike and Paul decided to give you guys a sneak peek of what the "show' is like before the guys hit record and the film hits the editing room. Stage 15 of the Tour de France was another brutal affair, ending in a brilliant breakaway victory for Jumbo-Visma's Sepp Kuss. Sir Brad and Bernie Eisel look back on an epic day of racing in the Pyrenees in the company of Graham Willgoss. But is Kuss too nice to be a killer on the bicycle? Brad thinks so. Bernie's not so sure: "Riders, when they put their cycling shoes on, put their helmet on, they're absolutely a different person," he says. "Trying to be that leader, and delivering at the moment it's expected? Chapeau." In what could have been a big day for the GC shake-up, Brad says Ineos played into Tadej Pogacar's hands: "They did the job UAE should have been doing, but they don't have the leader to match him and finish it off. They have to change tactics. I'd have liked to have seen G and Richie Porte in the break, and see how that panned out.”There is no doubt who will be happiest heading into the rest day. Especially with the mountain tests ahead – with or without back-up.“Pogacar has the solo ability to do what he likes,” says Brad. “Whereas I really relied on my teammates.” Brad and Bernie agree that, for Mark Cavendish, the Green Jersey is coming home – and more stage wins could well be on their way for the Manx Missile.“Cav's got through the worst of it now, he's going to be fine,” says Brad. “I think we could see him take two more stages, with Paris.”Brought to you by Zwift, where fun is fast. The Bradley Wiggins Show is produced by Pete Burton.
