As agency owners, we're always looking for ways to improve our business development strategies and stand out in a crowded marketplace. This week, I'm flipping the script and sharing an episode where I was a guest on Susan Quinn's podcast, Better Experiences by Design. Susan asks some great questions to help get to the bottom of the two main biz dev strategies modern agencies can count on today — niching and thought leadership. Doing these two things can transform your agency's growth trajectory. We cover several key components, including how to leverage thought leadership effectively, why niching down is crucial for agency success, and how to overcome the fear of narrowing your focus. We also explore common mistakes C-Suite executives make in marketing their own firms, the importance of consistency in business development efforts, and how to identify and attract “right-fit” clients for your agency. Success in agency biz dev today is about being consistently interesting and relevant to your ideal clients over time. By focusing on your expertise, generously sharing your knowledge, and staying top-of-mind, you'll be the natural choice when prospects are ready to buy. A big thank you to our podcast's presenting sponsor, White Label IQ. They're an amazing resource for agencies who want to outsource their design, dev, or PPC work at wholesale prices. Leaders are losing their people at an unprecedented rate due to poor onboarding, inconsistent training, and lack of succession planning. Research shows some staggering statistics: Out of 1000 employees surveyed, 80% said they had a poor onboarding experience. 6 out of 10 managers had new hires leave due to poor onboarding. In addition, once employees are onboarded, a lack of continued training causes a 60% loss of the workforce in 4 years. Companies cannot afford this! Assuming that strong onboarding IS present, and continued training DOES happen, many times there is no path to promoting those employees later on. This causes employee frustration and low morale. Employees eventually leave to find a company where they can achieve upward movement. Research shows that promotions and succession planning increase company valuations by 20 - 25%. If any of this sounds familiar in your company then you need to tune in to this solo show to learn how to create a more robust onboarding program, close any training gaps for your people, and ways to support their career trajectory. Your host, Monique, will cover case studies of how her clients used an Onboarding Checklist to enhance the onboarding of their people, conducted a Training Needs Assessment to implement continual training on the team, and implemented an Individual Development Plan to help direct reports get promoted. If you're a leader with direct reports, you literally cannot afford to miss this episode!

It allows to Practice skills and decisions in the context they will occur in the game. Transition to Defense Defense Transition to Offense Offense Under each stage, I include drills that are relevant for that stage. THis helps me focus on the 4 key components and to make sure I cover them in practice. But you said there were 5 things, coach? The 5th element is Skill Work. Shooting, scoring moves, ball handling, etc. My practice plan looks like this. 30 - 45 minutes of Skill Work. Followed by the most important thing to me - Defense 30 minutes of defense & transition to defense That's the first hour. 10 Minutes on Offense Transition Work 30 Minutes on Offense 15 minutes of scrimmage - usually with constraints: start from a SLOB, or we put 15 seconds on the shot clock. CEOs, Industry Experts, and both of my fans know that I enjoy talking about energy. It is great fun to learn from industry thought leaders, and today is no exception. Sarp Ozkan, VP, Enverus, stopped by the ENB podcast. As usual, we had a blast talking about everything energy in the world. And I mean ALL things, National security, energy transition, geopolitical, U.S. policies, disproportionally impacted communities and countries, supply chain, and renewable energy. When we talk about industry experts, it seems like Enverus has a way of finding great leaders. Sarp and I talked about how data is the key to understanding the energy market. When you can have data across the entire energy spectrum, you can then make the best road maps for consumers and corporations. At the time we recorded the podcast we talked about LNG and the global markets, and that natural gas is going to change to steady demand and not a seasonal commodity. Thank you Sarp for stopping by the ENB podcast, I had so much fun! Your thought leadership is very much appreciated! I am looking forward to our next conversation. Before you can build trust, you have to define it for you or your organization. This requires you to analyze yourself. Self-reflection is necessary whether you are trying to build your leadership skills personally, for your family, or in your organization.Today Toby Travis and I discuss how leaders can build and restore trust. Dr. Toby Travis is the founder of TrustEd, an executive consultant with the Global School Consulting Group, and Superintendent of education at the Village Christian Academy in Fayetteville, NC.In order to build trust, a leader needs to understand the 6 critical components of trust. We discuss these and how a servant leader is able to build rapport with his/her team, mobilize them, and develop a culture of trust within the organization. (The same rules hold true in a family as well.)However, not all leaders are created equal and occasionally (quite often) a leader needs to restore the faith and trust of their organization in them. We cover a simple method to begin to build back the trust that was lost.If you would like to get Dr. Toby Travis' book, TrustEd, it is on Amazon. “When you think about internal communications, It's so much about change management. It's about bringing people along on the journey that the CEO or the executive team have created in multiple meetings. They already know it, but now they have to turn around and communicate it. And so they have to make that their own. They have to believe it. And we as humans can really smell when somebody doesn't believe what they're saying. And so you have to just own it and practice it and know it inside and out and bring your own stories and examples to it. It can't just be talking points off of a sheet because the rest of us know when it really isn't yours.” — Laura Klieves--------------Episode Timestamps:*(1:50) - How Laura got interested in communications*(3:05) - Laura's first job in communications*(5:08) - Laura's current role as Senior Director, L&D and Communications at Malwarebytes*(7:42) - Segment: Storytime*(14:00) - Segment: Getting Tactical*(17:20) - Overcoming learning curves when joining a company*(20:30) - Must-do tactics for ICs in order to be effective and engaging in a digital workforce*(25:00) - The critical components of storytelling *(29:40) - Ensuring virtual employees have an amazing experience*(33:25) - Segment: Seat at the Table*(37:50) - Segment: Asking for a Friend LinksConnect with Laura on LinkedInFollow Laura on TwitterAmanda's LinkedIn www.simpplr.com/podcast
