Phil and Josh get Speedweek started right with returning guest Phillip Spain of the White Silk Racing Show/Podcast to discuss all things NASCAR on E46 of the GSP.  Thoughts on the upcoming seasons in all three major series along with picks on the Clash (spoiler alert, we didn't pick KyBu) and qualifying for the Daytona 500. The guys go over who will be the breakout star in the 2021 Cup Series along with ROTY which saw Phillip change his pick!  The three also go over the Superbowl, which saw Tommy Brady take the Bucs past Kermit The Frog and the Chiefs.  Operator error aside on Phil's part due to being on a high from bowling so well, it was the typical bench racing you'd expect on the GSP!

Os voy a dar ejemplos de lo que sé debe hacer… 1. ¡No tengas prisa! De verdad, este es el consejo más importante, las prisas son malas consejeras, no te precipites y tomate tu tiempo. 2. Compras unidades, no modelos. Esto lo repito una y otra vez. Está bien que tengas una idea de qué tipo de coche quieres, qué modelo o qué versión, pero si das con un “mirlo blanco” un coche de esos impoluto, cuidado, con pocos kilómetros… aunque no sea el coche de tus sueños, cómpralo. 3. Guarda un poco de dinero. Por muy bien que esté el coche tendrás un mínimo de gasto. Lo mínimo riguroso es cambiar aceite con su filtro, líquido de frenos, liquido refrigerante y, si es necesario, pastillas. Pero hay cosas como las escobillas del limpia, neumáticos o correa o cadena de distribución, que pueden requerir un cambio. Tenlo en cuenta. 4. Necesitas consejo. This episode of our podcast is a listeners request, Jennifer, Vicki, and Bill go over what we have been up to and begin to look at where we are going for next year.  Lots of changes, lots of cars gone, still a few to go, and lots of new cars added, most need some TLC.  We think we are on a good path, but you can be the judge of that.  Also, on this episode’s Dominating with Dawson, we get into a discussion of driving skill vs driving talent.  Lots of opinions, lots of thoughts, probably the first of several discussions related to this.  In the end, there are very few people, if any, who if they are interested in our sport and apply themselves, cannot get to a competitive level and become a very good driver and racer.  At least that’s what we think.   We hope you enjoy this episode!   Best regards,   Vicki, Jennifer, Alan, and Bill Hosts of the Garage Heroes In Training Podcast and Garage Heroes In Training racing team drivers   Highlights from this episode include: 1)  Our upcoming skid pad & autocross car control event at Lime Rock with Safety Third Motorsports.  Jennifer and Vicki as so excited it is hard to explain, even for them. 2)  How the 2.75 Porsche 944’s and 1.0 Boxsters have found new homes and Brad’s starting to prep his E46 330 for his move to Colorado.  Maybe we have the beginnings of a Midwest/Mountain time zone team.  4.75 cars in one weekend. 3)  The plan for the SpiderStang Mustang and the black Honda Civic are still tbd at this point, but may be available. 4)  Bill has located a HPDE car that is undergoing some upgrade and preventative maintenance with the help of John Lavin from Safety Third Motorsports.  It is a E46 that is changing from a SMG transmission to a manual transmission because that is just so much more fun and engaging. 5)  An E46 330 shell magically appeared and is the long-term project car for Bill’s goal of running the NASA Thunderhill 25 by 2025.  So far, we have 3.5 drivers who are interested and now need only one more driver and Bill to get some more skill. 6)  What are we doing with 1974 Capri.  We have plans, but not enough skill at this point. 7)  Should we build two Civic race cars, we don’t know for sure at this point.  Still TBD. 8)  Our 2017 Ford F150 black cap is also looking for a new home 9)  Mechanical status for each car and the progress to be accomplished over the off season this winter. 10)  Bill is apparently stuck in bad joke/dad joke mode throughout this episode.  We apologize. 11)  We talk about what the plan is for modifying the cage in the yellow Honda Civic and the two smaller jobs of fixing the engine and adding new/better seat mounts. 12)  Vicki is reminded of the winter project that was set for last winter.  Perhaps we will have better luck this year.  TBD.  Maybe someday the ND Miata may actually have an interior again. 13)  Bill tries to get some planning on the upcoming themes.  Vicki and Jen don’t want to get into it at all.  Bill thinks its all a coverup for no plan.  We shall see. 14)  Vicki learns about the most romantic anniversary gifts ever.  Why does Vicki put up with this?  How did Bill ever get so lucky? 15)  We are all three going to complete some car related courses this winter.  Eventually, we will be competent mechanically and electrically.  (These had better be good courses if they are to get us there, lol.) 16)  New/recent garage tools and capabilities that will aide us this winter, with a quick review of each. 17)  We reverse the “what does someone know about you that no one knows” question on each other.  Bill stuffs a big foot into his mouth during this one.  He will be sleeping in the bathtub for a long, long time. 18)  Vicki learns that Thunderhill is located in California.    Any ideas for Guests?   Any ideas for upcoming topics?   Please let us know at GarageHeroesInTraining@gmail.com or on our Instagram at @GarageHeroesInTraining

What is your favorite generation of the BMW 3-Series? This is a question that has been asked in pubs, locker rooms, car shows, autocross events, and even some of the cooler dinner tables all over the world for the better part of the last 40 years. As in, today. Now. According to Rod Sims’s henchman - henchperson - at the ACCC, Delia Rickard: “Because of the critical level of risk, the ACCC urges people to stop driving their vehicle immediately and to contact BMW to arrange to have their vehicle inspected as soon as possible.” I’d suggest that conservative corporations and regulators in this sphere, such as BMW and the ACCC respectively, do not use terms like ‘immediately’ and ‘critical level of risk’ frivolously. Safe to assume this message is not clickbait. A new type of defective Takata airbag has been linked to what the ACCC is calling (quote) “an abnormal pattern of airbag deployments in Australia, Japan and the US”. Bottom line: the Takata airbag recall just got slightly bigger, and somewhat more serious. It’s being reported that these specific airbags have been linked to one death and one serious injury here - authorities are being a little cagey about the details surrounding that, however, because the death remains a matter before the coroner. The ACCC and BMW are collaborating and co-operating on this. There’s no suggestion of any wrongdoing on the part of BMW. You can check the VIN code online to see if your ageing 3 Series is affected at recall.bmw.com.au (repeat). Or call 1800 243 675 (repeat) - that’s a dedicated BMW airbag recall hotline - or drop into (or call) your local dealer. In a taxi. Keep the receipt. Or, better still: “BMW will arrange to tow your vehicle to repair facilities for inspection, or send a mobile technician out to your premises or vehicle’s location to inspect the vehicle.” - ACCC And here’s my favourite part of this story: “If your vehicle has been fitted with one of these dangerous airbags, BMW will arrange a loan or hire car or reimbursement for alternative transportation costs until airbag replacement parts are available or until other arrangements are made. You may also wish to discuss the vehicle being purchased back by BMW.” - ACCC This is an example of rock solid corporate conduct - a rarity in the car industry here, I think you’d agree. These affected vehicles are two decades old, but nobody’s being left out in the cold, and BMW is picking up the tab. You want to see robust commitment to the customer? This is it. Even if that customer is the second, third or fourth owner. I’m really not sure we’d see the same level of ethical conduct from the Monkey-gassers at the Volkswagen Group, or the three-pronged Swastika specialists at Daimler. So - complete respect for doing the right thing on this occasion. It could take the BMW as long as 18 months to replace any defective airbags - and that’s simply gotta be a supply issue. Hence the offer for loan and hire cars, taxi reimbursement, and/or buybacks.

We are midway in prepping for our first race of the season and wanted to review some of the details involved with preparing for a race weekend.   We also cover several of the lower cost options that are available to get anyone (meaning YOU) out on the track if you wanted to try it out.  These included high performance driving education/events (HPDE), autocross and autocross education events, driving experience opportunities where you take a few laps in a rented car, or race car, or super car of your choice, racing schools, our predominant choice of low cost endurance racing, various “mark” series like Porsche Car Club, BMW, Audi, etc. etc., national and local events run with NASA and SCCA, drag racing, test and tune nights, drifting, spec series like spec Miata or spec E46  etc., rally courses, cannonballs, One Lap of America, and many others. We covered what to expect, how much it may cost and what you get from each of the options.  We hope at least one of these fits your interest and budget.  Once you come up, we are very confident you will find it to be an amazing experience and probably should plan on your second event as soon as possible.  We are sorry to keep Vicki awake for this episode.

Po długim postoju odpalam auto bez problemów, ale po mniej więcej trzech minutach bez dodawania gazu, czyli bez ruszania, gwałtownie spadają obroty i auto gaśnie. Następnie odpala już bez problemów. Na wolnych obrotach na zimnym silniku obroty wynoszą 1100. Gdy się rozgrzeje, obroty są w przedziale 600-700. Zauważyłem też drugą rzecz. Gdy puszczę gaz i toczę się siłą rozpędu bez sprzęgła i hamulca to przy końcowej fazie, kiedy to obroty są poniżej 1400, jest uczucie, jakby coś pchało auto. Wskaźnik zużycia paliwa tymczasowego podnosi się do około 10 litrów na 100 km. Zjawisko zanika, gdy wciskam sprzęgło i wyhamowuję auto do zera lub, gdy kontynuuję jazdę. Ostatnio profilaktycznie wymieniłem filtr paliwa i zero efektu. Co to może być? Czy te dwa efekty to dwie różne rzeczy? Czy są one powiązane? [0:47] Delayed a whole bunch of things we lost power in our city I still don't have heat in my office, HVAC unit got blown off the building also two trees down nobody died here but they're six tornadoes a touchdown lot of Destruction and a lot of it was around $0.02 around my office and there was places in the city without power for up to 5 days i just prayed that could of solomon trail goes through a district substation right, but, tomato sauce with the week of ignite we're supposed and we were supposed to do dailies from ignite we have no power we were dealing with other issues, so we didn't do our foreign correspondents Rafael and the boys formula coffee clutch. We weren't able to connect with them so we didn't covered nightfall not there's a get well tomatoes fault, the tornado then we did actually record an episode that fell apart it was a awesome recorded it that way from eight with with tactical issues and then call and when had a death in the family that you look that so, and how long since your last episode. Eight one twenty eight i think it would be silly to buy the four k for sure the forty-eight would run while but eventually sure is that the one with the sst years at the one with the. The best hard drive healthy ssd1 called UCM EMC, communication not buying these things for performance correctly so you didn't get the Costco on the cost going to make it out quite nicely, I only have 4 gigs of memory 128 storage I'm not sure what type of storage so that's it ideal combination but my reef my rebate of $330 wasn't Acosta how much of the total amount. [4:18] It's about $800 - 300 Canadian Canadian dollars. What's. Had its ups okay to tell us about what he thinks first impressions on but we didn't do it you did do it on boxing anything but what you numbers up so it is the it's the exact same for form factor as my apple. IPad 2 which is probably for 5 years old exact same Corners almost the exact same screen size the exact same thickness which is. [4:57] So you a little bit odd does it looks more like an apple from up front so you think that they bought a bunch of refurb to iPads and slammed slammed surface bits in them yeah, yeah it's a conspiracy, really the only thing I can see, they should have put a bit of extra weight in that and add the battery last a bit longer. Set the fuck up, okay not mistaken what was that Neva Neva scan Beacon, caca the eighties so any i can get use to the keyboard, yeah you know for when it does it slot better than any touch typing on screen would be so i don't think that's really a challenge with the keyboard for say that microsoft dismayed okay i think it's just a problem with the size of a ten inch form factor, so really there's no point it's. [6:14] Not a must-have for sure cake so how much will you say the battery is not fantastic how much you getting out of it like four hours really, real well that's disappointing very disappointing. [6:30] God wanted to look it up like that whole day out of my $69 Canadian $69 Kindle Fire HD. It's like four bucks so you don't have to have it but my mistake would not be one of them yes right PC, example use water email so depending on which version of office to sixty five you buy you also get five per user five installs of microsoft office is close, Pro Plus father's claim Office 365 I believe in. [10:33] It's part of your license as long as you're paying your light your monthly license fee you have usage rights but what if you stop paying. Have you straight anymore that this is the perpetual license so for instance if you bought office, 2007 back in 2007 or 2008 or whenever you whenever you want it you could still run it that Microsoft support anymore it'll give you updates or anybody but you own it you can run it forever. Legally run it forever however office365 you stop paying your monthly you can't legally run anymore. [11:09] Talk a little bit about the differences so that's the licensing side of it right so office twenty nineteen is based on the feature set more or less that we saw in late spring early summer, in Office 365 Office 365 gets updated on a, randomly, hopefully not random well someone's got a plan but lisa mc maybe collectively sure so, features are the features come out regularly and it's always upgrading and it's really focused on integrating with the rest of the office to sixty five sweet, which is that online experience and that cloud experience not to say that office 2019 does, lie to connect a cloud services but. What, but Office 365 will keep getting more and more cloud looks to other services like yeah I after she learning and it whatever new functionality comes out in Office 365. Get well Windows 7 or Windows 10 OS 8.1 if you really must each user gets their own or, whatever else you want to call this other words for that. That one machine with multiple users and that's a great Segway into our next item that will talk about but why is this important for the first time now. Windows 10 is available as a paid service directly from Microsoft and Azure and you can have, stop there so sorry technology change you could have always run, to bring your license and your license to allow you to do that night just by making us buy it and turn it off and not using it all sorts of things like that so. [15:57] Basically promoted desktops in someone else's Data Center, tornado outage here people are using that they can accept connect to edgerton woden. [16:08] Okay now the next one is Microsoft brings multi-user virtualization to, windows and office instances where each user gets thrown instance of now in Windows 10. You can use Windows 10 essentially as what we used to call a terminal server to have multiple users connect to Italy travel each have a session Windows 10 not Windows Server that's correct now why is that important David. Because Windows 10 Windows Server are very similar to each other. But not the same exactly so in the olden days, last month if you wanted to do session-based Computing yeah you would have to do it on a Windows server and it had it had present it has session Services right and remote desktop services that you would turn on and you would uninstall your software you have to jump through hoops to install off we're not big Hoops but you install software, and let people connect to it up Here's the catch alright. [17:14] When developers build applications for Windows and user Windows Windows 10 or Windows 7 that's a good example of say, Adobe Photoshop the developers built that they tested it on Windows 7 latest on Windows 8 the test on Windows 10 they got it logo certified, with all the criteria and then some sysadmin somewhere takes that app, add fries to shoehorn it on to Windows Server which is very similar but not the same, and it may or may not work and then you have to go through all sorts of remediation and things like that, application for certified to work with the remote desktop services but others were not so is very limiting. And you get sometimes really funky heirs. [18:01] And then gift because the cold is writ for windows ten and you try to run on windows server and may or may not work. [18:11] But my sister will definitely so now that's that's gone but secondly you don't have to worry about the cost Associated Windows server. [18:23] And and although there would be a conditional class here for extra license, but of course not. The whole server licensing right, how you could run a server on a desktop but if we all did. And a lot of small businesses are afraid of servers, a server that's, yeah that happened in your office before we're kilobit drive you places cuz people hitting afraid of service for so log but. [18:56] They don't work anymore exactly yes so that's the news about Windows 10 and. Multi-user virtualization as well as virtual desktop to similar related but different announcements. Okay alright. No thinner nothing Cur and more powerful 1.8 times as powerful and you know the old one. Obviously it's not a power user computer in either case you probably want to go for Surface Book 15 if you need a lot of power but this would way way less Island it blows, no bother have really been any MacBooks in a while that's a little bar on the keyboard that changes now it's got touch, it's a touch screen David doesn't have a little touch banking. For the very first episode of my podcast I sat down with Nick Kraft of A-Plus Auto Styling. We talked about his career as a vinyl wrapper, how he started, shop life, his E46, Stance Nation, Krispy, H2o International and much more!

Anthony Lahner started his career painting wheels in alleys, but now he runs a company that can restore or perfect the look of any car. We interview him in the second half of the show, after Matt and Zack talk about drifting and bad car movies.He brought Matt's R32 GT-R back to factory-fresh and upholstered the interior of his Mustang, but he's done far more than that, from cutting his teeth working at a luxury service center to painting out of a van.
