Am 2. März wählt Hamburg eine neue Bürgerschaft. In der Reihe „Entscheider treffen Haider“ stellen wir die Spitzenkandidatinnen und -kandidaten vor.
Seit März 2018 ist Peter Tschentscher (SPD) Erster Bürgermeister Hamburgs. Und wenn am 2. März dieses Jahres in der Hansestadt ein neues Parlament gewählt wird, stehen – zumindest nach den aktuellsten Umfragen – Tschentschers Chancen nicht schlecht, sich nach der Wahl mit einer stabilen Mehrheit im Amt bestätigen lassen zu können. Es könnte aber auch anders kommen. Denn zwar hat Tschentscher angekündigt, nach der Wahl gerne weiterhin mit den Grünen koalieren zu wollen. Die Grünen allerdings treten mit einer eigenen Spitzenkandidatin an: Katharina Fegebank, amtierende Wissenschaftssenatorin und Zweite Bürgermeisterin. Und auch in der größten Oppositionspartei, der CDU, bewirbt sich jemand für das Bürgermeisteramt: Dennis Thering, CDU-Landesvorsitzender und Fraktionschef in der Bürgerschaft. Wofür stehen Fegebank und Thering? Worin unterscheiden sie sich von Tschentscher? Was wäre zu erwarten, wenn sie tatsächlich die Stadt regieren – und wie gut stehen ihre Chancen wirklich? "Ich freue mich sehr, dass uns als CDU Hamburg ein wirklicher Coup gelungen ist. Das wird die CDU auf jeden Fall stärken, nach vorne bringen", sagte Thering. Bereits am Montagmorgen sei eine Sonderfraktionssitzung geplant, bei der die bislang fraktionslose Bürgerschaftsabgeordnete sofort in die CDU-Fraktion aufgenommen werden soll. Dennis Thering, Landesvorsitzender der CDU in Hamburg und dort Spitzenkandidat für die nächste Wahl, kennt Olaf Scholz seit 2011: Damals wurde der heutige Bundeskanzler mit absoluter Mehrheit Hamburger Bürgermeister, der CDU-Politiker zog als Mitglied der Opposition erstmal ins Parlament ein. „Ich habe ihn immer als etwas von oben herab und sehr unnahbar erlebt, es drehte sich alles um ihn und seinen kleinen Beraterkreis. Eine Opposition gab es für ihn gar nicht, er hat uns nicht ernst genommen und auch nie den Kontakt gesucht“, sagt Thering in dieser Folge des „Scholz-Update“. „Die SPD hat damals wie heute in Hamburg ihr Ding gemacht.“ Und die Kommunikation von Olaf Scholz war darauf angelegt, dass sich kein Satz von ihm verselbstständigen oder falsch gedeutet werden kann. Das hat sich bis heute nicht geändert - allerdings hat man in der vergangenen Woche erlebt, dass der Kanzler auch anders kann, wenn er will. Als er bei einer Veranstaltung in Berlin wegen seiner Unterstützung der Ukraine im Krieg gegen Russland ausgebuht wurde, schrie Scholz zurück und nannte Wladimir Putin einen „Kriegstreiber“. Eine Formulierung, die ihm im vergangenen Jahr niemals über die Lippen gekommen wäre. Die „Bild“-Zeitung schrieb sogleich vom „Klartext“-Kanzler, auch aus anderen Ecken und Ländern gab es Lob für den Kanzler, der auf einmal so sprach, dass ihn wirklich jeder verstand. Thering sagt dazu: „Wenn man ihn reizt und ihn herausfordert, dann kann er auch laut und deutlich werden. Er lässt sich durchaus aus der Reserve locken, was auch daran liegt, dass er nicht besonders kritikfähig ist, das hat dann aus seiner Sicht schnell etwas von Majestätsbeleidigung.“ Friedrich Merz, dem Fraktionsvorsitzende der CDU im Deutschen Bundestag, ist das auch schon das eine oder andere Mal gelungen - mit dem sicher nicht beabsichtigten Nebeneffekt, dass Olaf Scholz nach dem Rededuell mit seinem Herausforderer erstaunlich gute Noten für seine „andere Kommunikation“ erhielt. Was die Frage des Kanzlerkandidaten bei der CDU angeht, rät Thering, der im Bundesvorstand sitzt, seiner Partei dazu, „nicht mehr all zu lange mit einer Entscheidung zu warten. Die Leute wollen wissen, auf wen sie sich einlassen. Und wir müssen als CDU diesmal das tun, was für die Partei am besten ist. Einen Zweikampf können wir uns nicht wieder erlauben.“ Die Chancen, die Bundestagswahl 2025 zu gewinnen, seien für die CDU sehr groß, so Thering, der sich schwer vorstellen kann, dass nach all dem, was in der Ampel-Regierung in den vergangenen Monaten passiert ist, Grüne und FDP noch einmal bereit sein könnten, gemeinsam in einer Regierung Verantwortung zu übernehmen. Wird es also ein Comeback einer großen Koalition aus CDU/CSU und SPD geben, wenn es dazu rechnerisch reichen sollte? „Wenn ich mir den Zustand der Ampel-Regierung ansehe, würde ich es mir wünschen: Die große Koalition war für unser Land deutlich besser.“
