What does it take to capture the sounds of the world's rich and diverse wildlife? On this extraordinary interview, we are joined by sound and nature recordist Martyn Stewart. Stewart has one of the largest collections of natural sounds in the world, having recorded more than 90,000 different sounds in more than 55 different countries for a total of over 60,000 hours of natural sounds. Stunningly, Martyn reveals that two thirds of what he has recorded is now extinct. He talks about what inspired him as a young child to be a nature recordist, and explains you how to open your ears to discover the sounds of the creatures around you. He also talks about what we can do, as ordinary citizens of earth, to lessen the constant encroachment of humans on the natural habitats of the world. This unforgettable conversation might just make you think differently about the world, and who you are in it. All through the episode, Katy uses her brilliant sound-editing skills to weave a backdrop of Martyn's nature sounds to accompany their fascinating conversation. Whether as a DJ, promoter of young DJs in Frankfurt or as a family man, Oli always has an incredible sense for the little moments of life. This is also reflected in his mixtapes, which invite you with a lot of love for detail and a lot of groove to dance down. This is also the case with his latest podcast, appropriately named "Nighttrip", which this time shows him in his versatility.... Interview: - What are your musical influences? What is your musical background? My musical influences are very broad. After rock was my great passion in my youth, I became more and more enthusiastic about electronic music. Starting with trance, I landed quite quickly with techno and finally with deep house. While in these phases I was almost exclusively enthusiastic about the respective genre, I am now open to all varieties of electronic music. And not only electronic music, I'm also an event DJ, so I can get excited about any kind of music. - What makes a good afterhour in your opinion? In the past, everything was possible musically at our afterhours - hard beats like you just heard in the club or playful, chill and melodic sounds to come down. What was more important was to stand at the plates again yourself after having been a spectator and listener for a few hours - and of course to let the evening come to an end with your best in a small setting. Today most "afterhours", if I can still call them that, take place in the car after my gigs. Since I accompany many events with a wide variety of music, I always need a contrasting program on the drive home - preferably of an electronic nature. The tracks and styles as I put them in the mix would bring me home happy at my personal afterhour. - What thoughts might you share with us about your mix? My mix takes you on a musical journey from the club to the afterhour home. It starts out full of energy, but then lets us get calmer and more playful. Musical boundaries are stretched, get ready for it.... __________________________ Thank you so much Oli for this special set. Stunningly profound and refreshingly good. © artwork by Jim aka Bock&Fuchs ➲ contact ✉ info@bockundfuchs.com https://soundcloud.com/schnuppo presents "Jetset" Afterhour Sounds Podcast No. 226 Our No. 226 today comes from an artist who has been with me for what feels like an eternity and has fascinated me ever since with his polished and mind-expanding sets. We are talking about schnuppo who is always good for a surprise with his very special, organic and hypnotic sound. In addition, he is the founder and host of the internationally known Viennese label and party collective https://soundcloud.com/downvienna, which not only releases exquisitely coherent and authentic releases corresponding to the label, but also shines with its unique artwork from https://www.kilianvandewater.com/. Can I really recommend to everyone without reservation. No matter if you are interested in the music or the design. It's definitely worth it. His set recorded for us is about the same as the sound of the label. From the beginning he opens up the dark side of downtempo to the listener without going over the top. As he progresses, he always intersperses hypnotic, melancholic and partly melodic elements between downpitched and acid-heavy progressive techno tracks, giving the whole thing an organic framework. Despite the reduced tempo, the tracks still groove and only unfold a new, namely depth-expanding effect. Here a clap, there a cranky acidline....ja that fits. And this over 67 minutes. Definitely a typical schnuppo, although a bit more driving than I expected before. Still a class interpretation of his afterhour. Fasten your seatbelts... I can only repeat myself, but you can expect a journey that is made for an afterhour. No phrase, no fake news, but honest words of a music loving Spessarter. Thank you so much Lukas for this special set. Stunningly profound and refreshingly good. Chapeu. Schnallt euch an… Chapeu. The open letter to the Federal Government from more than 30 businesses and individuals in Shepparton: We believe a 2050 net zero emissions target is essential in order to keep a global temperature rise under 2°C. For us specifically in the Goulburn Valley, a rise above 2°C would threaten our lifestyle and highly profitable agricultural sector. The Federal Government needs to adopt this target and work toward it in a way that transitions without threatening our economy. The Business Council of Australia has modelled a roadmap to Australia achieving net-zero by 2050, through adaptation of new technologies, harnessing renewables and incentivising carbon sequestration. The Council identifies that this process could reap an economic dividend of $890 billion and 190,000 jobs over the next 50 years. With strong investment in our region, the Goulburn Valley can be part of this dividend. We are well placed to benefit from this 2050 net-zero blueprint. We have the capability to generate renewable energy, participate in profitable carbon sequestration and adapt technology for our manufacturing sector. Done properly, this could enhance our energy reliability and affordability. This requires commitment from the government, a clear policy framework and significant investment. We don't really have a choice not to participate in this global effort, given several of our trading partners are indicating an emissions commitment will be required to continue that trading relationship. That is in addition to the overbearing challenges we will leave future generations if we can not keep the dial below a 2°C temperature increase. The Goulburn Valley has constantly adapted to challenges and opportunities with its embrace of technology and entrepreneurial spirit. We believe we can do the same with this challenge, but we need the government to act now and invest. Support the show: https://www.patreon.com/climateconversations

You can definitely call him a connoisseur of downtempo, because he stands for me emblematic for the rise of the subgenre and has shaped the scene globally with his countless pieces - no still does. We are talking about Niju who is always good for a surprise with his very special, organic but mega fascinating sound. No matter if alone or together with Ninze & Okaxy as Wide Awake (@wide-awake-8), he always provides with his playful and atmospheric way in his productions, remixes, edits and also sets for special experiences on the dancefloors, living rooms, bedrooms as well actually on all ears in the world. At least on all those who can appreciate downtempo. Definitely for me as a big downbeat fan. Then, now and tomorrow definitely too. I'm sure of it. His set recorded for us is emblematic of his sound. To me, the whole tape basically feels like a typical Niju production, only in XXXXXXL format. At the beginning velvet soft and dreamy, yet discreet groovy and later from and then also danceable. And all garnished with a good portion of hypnotic elements like cranky voices and partly indefinable sound fragments. Great. Definitely a typical Niju, who joins our podcast series with his 2.5 hour journey like painted. Buckle up... I can only repeat myself, but you can expect a journey made for an afterhour. After the many months we have been speculating about Apple’s new AirTags for tracking lost items, I thought I would probably like them. What I didn’t expect after using one was a realisation that as a blind person, my quality of life just improved. With AirTags and a newer device capable of the precision finding feature, Apple has changed the game for blind people wishing to find lost items. In this episode, Heidi Taylor joins me as we discuss what AirTags are, what they do and why you might use them. Jace and Rocky from Comic Boom! do a deep dive into the DC titles for the Week of March 16, 2021. They look at the new Superman anthology, Red & Blue and discuss how the stories are all very emotional and look at the impact that Superman has in them as well as on him. There is also a lot of talk about the limited color palette and how that plays with the mood of the stories. Both the guys are really enjoying Catwoman and issue #29 is no exception. It continues to be one of, if not the BEST monthly title DC is putting out. Brian Michael Bendis makes his debut on Justice League and while the art is spectacular, it's hard to get a read on the narrative because there is so little of it. On the other hand, the back up Justice League Dark story is jam-packed with narrative despite having less pages to work with. Finally the much anticipated Tom Taylor Nightwing lives up to all the hype and expectations. Jace goes so far as to call it a perfect comic and give it a 10/10. Emotional at times, lighthearted at others, it gives everything a fan of Dick Grayson could want. There's plenty of Barbara Gordon, Alfred makes an appearance, in a way and there is a puppy! Stunningly good.
March of the Monsters month at Catching Up On Cinema continues with a review of Ishiro Honda's groundbreaking daikaiju masterpiece, Gojira (1954)! A grim, allegorical tale of the horrors of nuclear weapons from a uniquely Japanese perspective, the film is often mistakenly thought of as just another dime a dozen atomic age B-movie, largely due to it's slightly inferior repackaging in the form of the recut, Godzilla, King of the Monsters (1956). Stunningly photographed, and ably acted, the film is nevertheless an astounding piece of sci-fi horror that still packs a punch when digested with proper historical context. Directed by Ishiro Honda, produced by Tomoyuki Tanaka, with effects by Eiji Tsuburaya, musical score by Akira Ifukube, and Haruo Nakajima donning the 220 lbs Godzilla suit, the film represents the film assemblage of what could easily be considered the "Dream Team" of tokusatsu craftsmen.

In one sentence: Unlocking new mRNA treatments will save lives, but it's not as simple as that.—————Overview—————Jake Becraft of Strand Therapeutics is an expert in designing and programming mRNA, critical strands of genetic material that provide instructions for making proteins. It is this shared responsibility among the scientific, private, and public realms that Becraft advocates for thoughtful, anticipatory stewardship of these influential technologies. Important Events January 6, 1761 Today is the birthday of the Bohemian theologian, mineralogist, geognost, entomologist, and botanist. Kaspar Maria von Sternberg Remembered as one of the most important natural scientists of the first half of the 19th century, Kaspar is regarded as the "Father of Paleobotany.” In 1818, Kaspar founded the National Museum in Prague. Today, the botanical genus Sternbergia honors Kaspar Sternberg. Sternbergia is a genus of plants in the Amaryllis family and comprises eight recognized species of flowering bulbs that look like Crocus. The most popular Sternbergia is the lutea, a garden favorite described by Clusius in 1601. White Flower Farm describes Sternbergia lutea this way: “These lovely, fall-flowering bulbs are Crocus look-alikes with bright yellow blooms. The foliage appears with the yellow flowers in fall and persists until spring. Bulbs multiply freely where they are happy—in a hot, sunny, very well-drained spot. Add a bit of lime to sweeten the soil, and planting will quickly fill out. Try pairing with one of the glorious blue flowers of fall, such as Caryopteris or Salvia, for a heavenly contrast. A member of the Amaryllis family, so the bulbs are essentially pest free, resistant to deer and voles. Heirloom, pre-1601. 10 per sq. ft.” January 6, 1946 Today is the birthday of the guitarist, singer, songwriter, and co-founder of Pink Floyd, Syd Barrett. After his immense success with Pink Floyd, Syd released two solo LPs and then disappeared into a self-imposed 30-year exile where he spent most of his time painting and gardening. Before his life with Pink Floyd, Syd attended the Camberwell Art School. One of the pieces he created was a beautiful watercolor - a delicate-looking still life of a dried flower bouquet. In 2006, Syd died of cancer at the age of 60. Before he died, Syd was a patient at Addenbrooke Hospital in Cambridge. In 2017, his friend, the sculptor Stephen Pyle, and a garden designer named Paul Harrington were planning to install the Syd Barrett Garden at Addenbrooke. Stephen’s sculpture for the garden depicts Syd riding his bicycle - hands-free - with a guitar in one hand and artist brushes in the other. Unearthed Words The year 1967 started with an all-out alert on the danger of poisonous plants. On January 6th, the Times published a story about a lecture on the subject by John M. Kingsbury, the author of a useful small book titled Deadly Harvest: A Guide to Common Poisonous Plants. At a very early age, I remember, I was to recognize what plants are to be avoided completely. At a very early age, I remember, I was taught how to recognize and stay away from deadly nightshade, poison ivy, and poison sumac. (I was, just as early, taught the delights of chewing tender young checkerberry leaves and sassafras root.) To me, it would be ridiculous, though, not to grow monkshood, foxglove, hellebore, larkspur, autumn crocus, poppies, lilies of the valley, buttercups, and many other flowers now present in my borders just because they have some poison in them. — Katharine S. White, gardener and garden writer, Onward and Upward in the Garden Grow That Garden Library A Nature Poem for Every Night of the Year by Jane Hunter This book came out in 2020, and like the companion book, A Nature Poem for Every Day of the Year, this book is one of my favorites. In this book, Jane has gathered a beautiful and soothing collection of poetry inspired by the natural world and perfect for bedtime reading. “Now more than ever, we need something to comfort and distract us from the cares of everyday life. Keep this beautiful book by your bedside and enjoy a dreamy stroll through the natural world and its wonders every evening, just before you go to sleep. All the great time-honored poets are here—William Wordsworth, John Keats, Emily Dickinson, Robert Bridges—along with some newer and lesser-known voices. The verses reflect and celebrate the changing seasons: read Emily Brontë on bluebells in spring and Edward Thomas’s evocative “Adlestrop” in summer, and then experience golden autumn with Hartley Coleridge and visit John Clare’s “Copse in Winter.” Stunningly illustrated with seasonal scenes, this wonderful anthology will delight you for years to come.” This book is 496 pages of soothing bedtime poetry inspired by the natural world. You can get a copy of A Nature Poem for Every Night of the Year by Jane Hunter and support the show using the Amazon Link in today's Show Notes for around $23 Today’s Botanic Spark Reviving the little botanic spark in your heart January 6, 1996 On this day, The News and Observer out of Raleigh, North Carolina, shared an article called The Naked Secrets of Trees in Winter by Lee Reich. Here’s an excerpt: “Trying to identify leafless trees during the winter is a nice game to play alone or with a companion.” Lee reminds us that trees like the Paper Birch are easy to spy because of their peeling white bark. And the Catalpa tree is another easy one - with its long brown pods. And the Pin Oak (Quercus palustris) is fun to spy: the lower branches droop downward, midlevel branches are horizontal, and upper limbs turn upward. That said, most trees are challenging to identify this time of year. Lee suggests using some expert books that guide you through tree identification steps, such as Fruit Key & Twig Key to Trees and Shrubs by William Harlow or Winter Tree Finder by May Theilgaard and Tom Watts. Now, one of the first steps in tree identification is to look at the buds’ arrangement on new twigs. Are the buds "opposite" - meaning, are they in pairs on opposite sides of each twig? Well, that narrows things down a bit because few deciduous trees have opposite buds. So, think about your Ashes, Dogwoods, Maples, and Horse Chestnut - they're the most common trees with opposite buds. Are the buds "alternate" - meaning that they are single and separated from each other along the length of the stem. Another question to ask is, “What is the shape of the buds?” Flowering Dogwood buds look like small buttons capping short stalks. The Pawpaw has velour-like brown buds. And finally, think about twig color and bark. They can both provide more clues. The Boxelder (Acer negundo) has purple twigs with a cloudy coating. The American hornbeam has smooth blue-gray bark with ripples like muscle. Thorns can provide identification clues as well. Common trees with thorns are the black locust, honey locust, hawthorn, or wild plum. And fruits and nuts provide another clue for tree identification. Finally, Lee writes, “Still at a loss for a tree's identity? Break off a twig and make a slanting cut to expose the pith. Chambered rather than continuous pith characterize black walnuts and butternuts. Butternut trees have chocolate-brown pith, and black walnut trees have toffee-brown pith. The taste of a twig sometimes is the giveaway. Black cherry will taste like bitter almond, and yellow and river birch will taste like wintergreen. There is one more handy identifier. Deciduous trees are supposed to be leafless now, but a few leaves often hang on well into the winter. They will be dead dry and twisted but often still "readable." Not only that, but those on oaks and beeches are so reluctant to fall that one can spot these species even at some distance by their skirt of dry leaves.” Thanks for listening to The Daily Gardener. And remember: "For a happy, healthy life, garden every day."

This is Bob Gifford from Hastings Tile & Bath. We met at the WestEdge Design Fair in 2019 and had a nice long chat about marketing and business development in the industry. We also talked about the full-body air dryer they were promoting at the show. Ditch the towel, this mounts inside the shower. Such a simple thing really, but consider this. How often do you wash your towels? At a time when cleanliness is of premium concern in an era where water conservation is both important and a remarkable source of financial savings. This is something that can be installed in the shower, by the pool and you can eliminate the towel completely. Bob and I met again a day later at the full-body dryer to see how it works. Thank you Bob, that was fun. Next up is Director, North America for Franz Viegener, John Weinstein. The brand from Buenos Aires is crafting some amazing plumbing products. Check this out from John Weinstein of Franz Veigener… Thank you Bob, thank you, John. What’s new, now and next… ways to make your bathrooms simple, efficient and like going to the spa, when you can’t necessarily go to the spa. Computers Are Creating Stunningly Real, Fake People Today, you can buy an image of a fake person online—and use that person’s appearance on real websites. Advances in technology allow artificial intelligence to create fake people. Computers can make these people appear old or young, with any gender or ethnicity of their choosing. Positive Affirmation Guided Sleep Meditation | Reprogram Your Mind For Manifestation . #positiveaffirmations #sleepmeditation #subconsciousmind . Hey what's up you guys welcome back to another video, I'm very excited to share this guided sleep meditation I have created. This meditation is meant to positively impact your mind, body, and energy levels through affirmations and positive aspects about the Universe. With the tone set with 528 hz music in the background, an ancient healing frequency, you are guaranteed to have raised your vibration to a whole new level, reprogrammed your mind in a positive way to attract miracles and manifest with the combination of that and the channeled work I put into the voice audio with love and nothing but wishing to send positive blessings and energy to all who listen. 528 hz relates to the note MI on the scale and derives from the phrase "MI-ra gestorum" in Latin meaning "miracle." Stunningly, this is the frequency used by genetic biochemists to repair broken DNA - the genetic blueprint upon which life is based. Music itself has also been proven to have not only a huge effect on our vibration, but our mind. Especially the subconscious mind. Like when you listen to a song just once that maybe a friend of yours had played, and then it's stuck in your head for the next day, that is the power of the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind speaks in images mostly, which rains supreme during your dreams. Music will create patterns in the brain which then leads to thought which leads to more things for everyone. That's another reason why this guided sleep meditation was designed to listen to while you go to sleep, it is the time where your brain enters a theta wave state allowing your subconscious mind to be more active and receptive. Listen to this meditation every night for a few weeks and what will happen is every time that you do, you will have repgroammed your subconscious mind a little more, and increasing your vibrational setpoint. Your outer reality which is a blank slate mirror reflecting your internal condition and energetic vibration, will begin to reflect back changes to you instantly but more and more as you reprogram / rewire. You will begin to build positive momentum around your new vibration & mindset, effortlessly. . . . Wachau in Austria is one of those places that should be on everyones bucket list to visit. I've not been there but it truly looks stunningly beautiful. Domäne Wachau makes wine that should be on everyones bucket list - to taste. I have been there! The vineyards of Wachau lie on the banks of the Danube in Lower Austria slightly NE of Vienna. The Wachau is a 33 km long gorge listed as a Unesco Cultural Landscape. Within this the slopes, aspect and soils of the valley provide a unique setting for vines to flourish. To cap it all the vineyards owned and managed by Domäne Wachau have been awarded the extraordinary title of 'Best Vineyards in Europe' and 'Third Best in the World'! Of course great vineyards don't naturally make great wine - they only have a potential whose release is crystalised by fabulous winemaking. This podcast explores how this is achieved with one of the great Master of Wine winemakers - Roman Horvath. Domäne Wachau epitomises the symbiotic nature of culture and landscape where dry stone walled terraces are as much part of the wine as the Reisling, Gruner Veltliner, Zweigelt vines are. Unique geology from exquisite slopes. Stunningly beautiful wines. Domäne Wachau is distributed across Ireland by Cassidy Wines. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- While all restaurants in Ireland were closed until recently many have now reopened. This is great news - Open Again! We should remember that many of these, including the wonderful Monty's of Kathmandu, are family businesses. They are often small and brilliant and need our support more than ever. Keep Safe and Keep well. Kevin Ecock's WinePod is brought to us with the assistance of the Santa Rita Wine Room at Monty's of Kathmandu - an excellent place to host your next event or celebration. Perform a Google search of “phobias” and you’ll find an almost endless list of conditions characterized by fear. Acrophobia is the fear of heights. Atychiphobia is the fear of failure. Anthrophobia (not introversion, incidentally) is the fear of people. I’m convinced I have an ‘unnamed’ phobia… the fear of losing control. Sometimes, I fear losing control of circumstances or relationships. Oftentimes, I fear losing control of myself. In moments of emotional intensity or passionate conviction, I fear I’ll be left vulnerable for lack of self-control. While meditating on Sunday’s passage, it struck me that Jesus is the One thing/person for which/whom I need not fear being “out of control.” Jesus cannot be loved too much. A “woman of the city” (Luke 7:36) once crashed a dinner party that Jesus was attending. Breaking all social norms, she pours perfume on his head, wets his feet with her tears, and wipes his feet with her hair. Stunningly, Jesus responds, “she has done a beautiful thing to me.” She is not out of control. She is controlled by the love of Christ. She is, you could say, in love.

John Bolton, former national security adviser to President Trump, wrote a book,“The Room Where It Happened: A White House Memoir.” The book offers a portrait of President Trump as an erratic and ignorant leader who often places his own personal whims above the national interest. But whether Americans will get to read the book is the subject of an escalating legal battle between Bolton and the Justice Department. The White House says the book contains classified material. Bolton’s attorney says the book doesn’t and that the material underwent a rigorous government review process.First, on Tuesday, the administration filed a civil lawsuit against Bolton, a conservative who has worked in Republican administrations for decades and was a longtime contributor to Fox News. Then late Wednesday, things escalated when the Justice Department sought an emergency order from a judge to block the book’s publication altogether. The Washington Post, meanwhile, obtained a copy of Bolton’s memoir. On this episode of the“Can He Do That?” podcast, White House reporter Josh Dawsey explains what’s in the book, what the fallout has looked like thus far, and whether it will have much political influence as we get closer to the 2020 presidential election.Related readingTrump asked China’s Xi to help him win reelection, according to Bolton bookJustice Department seeks emergency order to block publication of Bolton’s book

Phil Wurz, fellow racing driver and the short straw drawing team member at BimmerWorld was kind enough to join us for a discussion on his racing history and add to our Usual Suspects discussion related to racing BMW, especially E36's and E46's, including a good amount about Spec E46. Phil has been with BimmerWorld since 2007 and conducted this interview from in front of his E30 race car, one of the best backgrounds we have had during our podcast. BimmerWorld supplies a very wide variety of parts and also prepares cars for racing in two national GT4 series. During this episode we learn a bit about Phil and his driving history as well as his thoughts on racing BMW's across may types of racing and what can be done to improve performance, handling, and reliability. To follow along with Phil and the team at BimmerWorld, please like their Facebook page or email them from the website where everyone's company email is available. On Dominating with Dawson, Ben discusses all of the wide variety of types of racing apexes, and how best to think about approaching a turn and what considerations can affect the desired approach for each turn. We hope you enjoy the episode! Best regards, Bill, Vicki, Jennifer, and Alan Hosts of the Garage Heroes In Training podcast and team members in the GHiT Immature Endurance Racing Team Highlights from the episode include: 1) His philosophy on replacing and upgrading as you grow and learn with your car 2) Vicki shockingly brings up the E36 rear wheel bearing removal and then won't let anyone ask any questions for a bit. Well, really, much more than a bit. 3) Alan "compliments" Bill on his skills with using the press on the rear bearing and finally admits his running away from the operation once the slide hammer came into the picture. 4) Bill impersonates the sound of the control arm breaking in the press. 5) Alan calls Bill an Axle, by mistake/mispronunciation. 6) Alan admits to adding a bit more wear and tear, since he is the mechanic. 7) Alan gets very excited over Phil's tow vehicle and that leads into the area of an upcoming flat nose school bus "ramp truck", potentially with a rear airbag suspension. 8) Our first podcast that is interrupted with the sounds of freedom. Mental likely scheduled it to mess with us. 9) We then walk through where the current sweet spot is for BMW's in terms of value, performance, and parts availability. We even compare the E36 vs the E46 which seem to be swarming the endurance racing fields. Yes, we are guilty. 10) Stunningly, and fir the first time, Alan hears that it's not necessary to drive at 10 tenths all the time. We shall see if it helps. 11) Vicki learns what a money shift is without costing us an engine. And Alan breaks out the FNG acronym in honor of the Three Pedal Mafia trip to Laguna Seca. 12) A good review of the growing Spec E46 series and other uses for these cars, as well as some of the advantages of spec classes, especially for people relatively new to racing and setting up of a race car. 13) Vicki requests a spare Spec E46 car for the team. Bill is currently searching on Autotempest. 14) Bill was bored and added some new questions to the Fast and The Furious questions 15) We are still looking for a good LSD solution for our M240i and Bill Begs for a spare E36 rear control arm, for a friend of course. 16) In the after credits B roll, Phil mentions a tool to remove the rear wheel bearing from an E36. Where was that when we needed it. Well, actually, we still need it. And Bill begs for some spare E36 rear control arms. For a friend. We hope to see Phil at the Charlotte Roval with Lucky Dog on the weekend of August 14-16.
This week it’s the “Stay at Home” Show …Baby Max is doing great, but Michelle had to barter for diapers. Ammo in trade for baby wipes! True story.Jared’s a dad too, his daughter is five months old – and she takes after Jared’s wife; she’s a good kid.Ryan proves which one of the hosts is not a parent when he suggests that we could fashion diapers from duct tape and paper towels if we need to.First candy of the week: Peeps. What’s Easter without the Peeps? We live in the Golden Age of Peeps. So many amazing flavors. Ryan gets Sour Watermelon. Teeg tries Fruit Punch. Michelle gets Chocolate Pudding. Jared is rolling with the Party Cake, but he’s “not a Peeps Guy.” So we all like them, except Jared. These Peeps are super fresh. We debate if the Fruit Punch Peep has electrolytes and could replace Gatorade in certain instances.Jared’s released five episodes so far, has 20 in the can, and 7 in the pipeline to record. His favorite so far: Sydney Chardima & Hayley Allmon from Bark Avenue Pet Resorts. They were 22 and 16 when they started back in 2008 during the recession. They used their Dad’s Harley as the collateral to start their business, and it’s grown to three locations and 70 employees.Danny Strabil from Rackhouse Whiskey ships two bottles of whiskey to you every other month. They go around to local distilleries around the country, tell the story, and then you get two bottles from that distillery. The company is based in southern Iowa.Dane Cooper from Performance Beef is an Ag Tech company in Ames. They’ve got 45 employees and they’re growing like crazy.People don’t always think of tech when they think of Iowa, but Iowa has a lot of tech. Apollo Healthcare Technologies in Iowa City was created by a couple of medical students, and the company has pivoted to help with Coronavirus. What makes these businesses uniquely Iowan? The people seem to be uniquely hardworking and humble. Jared’s point in his show is to inspire people – to say, “if this person took a risk, so can I.”Snack #2 – The Reese’s Peanut Butter Bunny Rabbit. It’s sort of an Easter Classic, but we got it just for Ryan, because he loves Reese’s. Michelle’s came pre-broken. She thinks, “boring,” Ryan thinks, “delicious.” Jared loves it, he even gets the Reese’s peanut butter in the jar.Jared’s #1 snack choice: Combos. The pretzel pepperoni one. “I pump myself full of Combos.”We discuss whether or not Iowa is really the epicenter of the Hidden Valley Ranch scene.Teeg tells the story of when he stopped getting an Easter Basket. It’s when he killed the Easter Bunny. Michelle calls it the darkest Easter story of all time. What is it about Iowa that’s so great? Jared thinks that we have a level of energy for getting things done. We live in a place where neighbors help one another out. Des Moines is booming. One of the best engineering schools in the nation at Iowa State. The University of Iowa is in the top 5% of Universities in the World. We get four true seasons, too.Teeg takes a stab at disparaging the state and Jared jumps to its defense: Each city has a certain renaissance. People who are trying to build companies, people who are trying to transform their little cities. A core group of people who are trying to make troubled towns better. Jared’s fascinated by people who mortgaged their lives to create jobs, and that’s creating a renaissance in this state.Final snack: Brach’s Marshmallow Easter Hunt Eggs. Teeg is dumfounded that anyone even gets these, or that it’s viable for a company to produce them. Teeg thinks they’re shaped like an elephant’s toe. There’s nothing marshmallow about them. It’s like confectioner’s sugar mixed with something made by Monsanto. Jared, “I’ll never eat one of those again.” Stunningly, Ryan likes them.Jared always asks people “Hawkeyes or Cyclones,” so we go around the horn. Ryan is a full-on Hawkeye, Michelle waffles around and says Drake, kinda admits Hawkeyes. Jared went to the University of Northern Iowa and we won’t let him say “Panthers,” so we pin him down and he’s a Cyclone. Teeg too.On ranking the candy, we are a house widely divided!Catch Jared’s podcast, Built In Iowa: https://www.builtiniowa.co

JERUSALEM – A recent DNA study of the ancient Philistines revealed that one of ancient Israel’s most formidable foes traveled to the land from southern Europe, confirming what many historians and archaeologists have long believed. The media quickly picked up on the study with articles being published in Live Science, the New York Times, the Washington Post and most other papers of note. Stunningly, one fact was left out of most of the reports. The DNA study actually confirms what the Bible records about Philistine origins. On the first half of today’s program, host Brent Nagtegaal discusses the study and what it means for confirming the Biblical text. On the second half, Nagtegaal discusses the recent discovery of the first –biblical-era facility for manufacturing purple dye, and its possible use in adorning of King Solomon’s Temple. Uncovering the Bible’s Buried Civilizations: The Philistines Know thine enemy: DNA study solves ancient riddle of origins of the Philistines DNA Study 3,000-Year-Old Purple Dye Industry Revealed Near Haifa
First up, Steve talks trade issues. Then, Nathan Lewis, economic expert and writer whose most recent book, The Magic Formula, distills the sought-after goal of thriving economies to a simple solution: low taxes and stable money. Through fascinating examples from the past and present, he shows why this formula always leads to robust prosperity and demolishes the prevailing “wisdom” on tax and monetary policy....and, Steve’s read of the week consists of two pieces. One is an article by Philip Hamburger in the WSJ called “Stop Beating College Bureaucratic Bloat” and the other is a transcription of an interview between Jan Crawford, chief legal correspondent for CBS News and William Barr, United States attorney general.
We answer some pressing questions from listeners, which results in some possibly unfortunate canon about Yukako’s body hair. Stunningly, we don’t make a single “gun beats paper” joke while discussing Enigma Boy. Araki is getting increasingly enthusiastic about drawing pouty lips and we aren’t mad about it. This episode, of all the episodes, might be the most nonsensical regarding stand powers, which is a rather impressive bar to clear. The 26-year-old Machado agreed to that deal Tuesday and Wednesday in San Diego was to meet Fowler and Seidler for the first time and undergo a physical. His signing, which has not been officially acknowledged by the Padres, is expected to be announced Friday. https://goo.gl/ShWQhR

Without 2 Senators per state and the Electoral College, the U. S. Constitution would NEVER have been ratified. NEVER! And the dream of a United States would have fallen apart before it ever really got started. Change Senate representation to something based on population and/or abolish the Electoral College today, and discussion of the catastrophic impact would EXPLODE.

A blood of the dragon person. Contents include nightmare visions, Others wordplay, Warlock Wine, a dragon-on-dragon battle, all of Euron's symbolism, and tons of fodder for JonValJon shippers. Stunningly good episode - some of the best gearhead talk the Garage Hour goons have ever done. THIS is big-AM radio. If you're a gearhead who thinks about more than car and truck parts, this is your Garage Hour. If you're a geek of any sort who wants to expand your mind with a bunch of other geeks, this is your Garage Hour. From smart comparisons of the Bostom marathon bombing with the Texas fertilizer explosion, including historic references, to a far-reaching look at the constitutional rights that stand athwart of Massachusetts' efforts to hunt down the Boston bombers, and how local cops are beginning to look a lot like federal agents and the military, this is big-brain blue-collar talksauce - have some. In addition, it's hard to avoid being a gearhead - this episode's also got .45 Phil's Tank of the Week (WW2 Japan's Hago jungle tank), Hoosier Eric's Raptor Run Report (including a buffalo attack), Clutch, Zach Wilde, Freedom Rock (turn it up!), a little remider about Barry Obama's buddy Bill Ayers, and why it's important to wear running shoes in bear country. Crag Maxwell, .45 Phil and Agent Aya help Hostus Maximus Justin Fort blow the doors off this one. KILLER talk radio right here.

HARRY DEAN STANTON: PARTLY FICTION is a mesmerizing, impressionistic portrait of the iconic actor comprised of intimate moments, film clips from some of his 250 films and his own heart-breaking renditions of American folk songs. Stunningly lensed in color and b/w by Seamus McGarvey, the film explores the actor's enigmatic outlook on his life, his unexploited talents as a musician, and includes candid scenes with David Lynch, Wim Wenders, Sam Shepard, Kris Kristofferson and Debbie Harry. The fragile soul of an actor emerges from the poignant collage. We are joined by Director Sophie Huber for a conversation on the challenges of getting inside the closely guarded world of Harry Dean Stanton and his famous friends.
Corey Redekop has been many things: "actor, waiter, disc jockey, cameraman, editor, lawyer (almost), and now the fabled trifecta of publicist/librarian/author. His debut novel, Shelf Monkey, is either a work of insane genius or an intolerable left-wing screed, depending on which review you read. Stunningly handsome, supremely talented, superbly gifted at hyperbole, Corey abides in Fredericton, New Brunswick." We climb up on the autopsy table to dissect his latest novel Husk (" The Sopranos of zombie novels"), and in so doing talk about Sheldon, a zombie with a brain, and what happens to him after he wakes up on - yes - an autopsy table, with his heart and guts spilling out all over the floor.
In addition to fawning over Gerard Butler and Michelle Monaghan, Devin and Matt discuss "50/50," "Machine Gun Preacher," "Tucker and Dale vs Evil" and "Courageous." They also chat with the basis of "Machine Gun Preacher," Sam Childers, as well as "T&DvE" director Eli Craig. Stunningly, they also argue.
In this podcast we continue with our second visit from two of the local elders. The discussion moves onto the Biblical definition of a false prophet. I also provide both elders with evidence relating to the Watch Tower Society's dishonesty regarding their links to Johannes Grieber. Please notice how swiftly this information is dismissed and attention is turned on my character instead. Listen out for one of the elders saying that Jehovah would allow people to die within the Organisation due to their teachings. Stunningly, this same elder says that anomalies in the Society's publication is the same as there being anomalies in the Bible. For some reason he also recommends that we read the "God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins . this elder says , "You'll find enough there to disturb you". Also, the overt use of emotional blackmail may surprise you. Emotions become raw. Listen out for the moment when one of the elders agrees that we're being treated like we're dirt on the bottom of someone's shoe.
