Ricochet Co-Founder Rob Long is in for Jim today. Join Rob and Greg for another round of the 3 Martini Lunch as they break down two major Supreme Court decisions, get Rob's thoughts as a longtime New York resident on the rise of Zohran Mamdani, and the one-year anniversary of the disastrous debate that ended Joe Biden's political career.First, they cheer a Supreme Court decision empowering parents to opt their children out of classroom instruction that promotes the LGBT agenda. The ruling affirms parental rights in education and sheds more light on activist agendas in public schools. Rob also offers a deal to teachers intent on pushing a progressive cultural agenda, but Greg isn't buying it. They also approve of the Supreme Court largely restraining federal district court judges from issuing orders that impact the entire nation.Next, Rob weighs in on New York City Democrats choosing Zohran Mamdani for mayor. As a longtime resident of the city, Rob says it's nothing new for voters there to choose "a crackpot, left-wing incompetent," but he is surprised they picked one so obvious. Rob explains how even parts of the Mamdani agenda would ruin the city and what his highest hopes for the next four years would be.Finally, they reflect upon the one-year anniversary of President Biden imploding any chances of re-election with his awful debate performance. Rob and Greg remember the most telling moments of the debate, the tumultuous aftermath, and how the White House and its media allies tried to cover up what more than two-thirds of Americans already knew. They also discuss the details of the Biden cover-up that we still need to know. Please visit our great sponsors:It's free, online, and easy to start—no strings attached. In a major win for President Donald Trump Friday, the Supreme Court ruled to limit lower courts' ability to issue nationwide injunctions. The case centered on a lower court ruling that had blocked Trump's executive order to end automatic birthright citizenship.Trump told NTD that the decision will empower both Congress and future presidents. He also announced the cancellation of trade talks with Canada and introduced a new timeline for a cease-fire in Gaza.In other major rulings, the Supreme Court upheld a Maryland policy allowing parents to opt their young children out of school storybook lessons featuring LGBT themes, as well as a Texas law requiring age verification to access pornographic websites.

So, we've made it: the series finale. It's been a long road, but after two gruelling medium-length episodes, our exhaustive anthropological study of Dublin's illicit gay underground is finally complete. Our resident cruisologist Glen dusts himself off from whichever filthy alleyway he recorded yesterday's podcast, and takes a trip to the comparatively idyllic surrounds of the gay sauna. His guide is world-famous pop-star and filmmaker PureGrand who, fresh off the heels of the release of his hit new single, drops by to spill the proverbial on one of Dublin's hottest hook-up spots. Thanks for tuning into our Dickovery Channel series, and thanks again for not sending these ones to our families. Outro music is, of course, 'Seven Up' by PureGrand, out on YouTube and all problematic streaming platforms now x Support the show

Dennis is joined via Zoom by two of the men behind his favorite indie of the year so far Rent Free, co-writer and director Fernando Andrès and actor-producer Jacob Roberts. The film is about two queer, down-on-their-luck best friends Ben (Roberts) and Jordan (played by David Trevino) who hatch a plan to live rent free for a year in Austin, Texas--on friends' sofas or whatever they can fanagle--while they save up to move to New York City to pursue their dreams. Fernando talks about his goal of making a buddy comedy set in a bleak contemporary economic landscape focusing on a kind of queer friendship that's very familiar to him but underexplored in cinema. Jacob talks about the finding the comedy in cringey hookup scenes, and recalls shooting a key emotional scene with Austin-based actor Bill Wise as Jacob's eccentric and empathetic father. Other topics include: Jacob writing and appearing in several iconic Hasty Pudding musical shows while at Harvard, Fernando being mentored by Austin-based filmmaking legend Richard Linklater, the upside of taking a film from the idea phase all the way through production and distribution in a relatively short period of time, what it's like to live in Austin post-tech boom and why they made one of the most obnoxious characters in the movie a gay "Facebook Guy with a good salary."

Millions of people in more than a hundred countries march at Pride festivities each year. Attendees come mostly to express support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans gender, queer and intersex people — the LGBTQI+ community. And although Pride may be on every continent, there's a swathe of countries where Pride still is not freely celebrated. Take Russia, where a court last decade issued a one-hundred-year ban on Pride events. Or Turkey, where police in recent years have been harassing, attacking and detaining activists and members of the LGBTQ+ community. And then there's Hungary, which is inside the EU but out of step with its laws and values. This year Hungary's illiberal prime minister Viktor Orbán said he intended to stop Pride in the capital Budapest, on the pretext of child-protection. Under-18s are supposedly at risk from so-called displays of homosexuality, displays that themselves were banned four years ago. That's a direct echo of Russia's anti-LGBT statute on Protecting Children and Traditional Family Values signed into law by Vladimir Putin more than a decade ago. This month Hungarian police duly imposed the Budapest ban that Orbán called for. And they added a dystopian touch: facial recognition technology. Attendees identified at Budapest Pride could face fines of 500 euros; they also could face neofascist thugs from far-right splinter groups. But Budapest mayor Gergely Karácsony says this year's event is going ahead this weekend just the same. After all, Budapest has had Pride marches for the best part of three decades. It's also worth recalling that Pride was born out of state repression. The first marches were held in the early 70s in a handful of US cities to mark the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. That name, Stonewall, comes from a bar, the Stonewall Inn, in New York City's Greenwich Village. The gay and transgender patrons of the Stonewall had grown sick of police harassment and abuse, and their uprising in 1969 still marks a key moment for civil rights movements everywhere. One beneficiary of such hard-won victories is Marc Angel, one of five so-called Quaestors at the European Parliament overseeing matters affecting the chamber's 705 members. Marc is a Socialist from Luxembourg and also co-president of the European Parliament's intergroup on LGBTIQ+ rights. For him, this weekend's Budapest Pride events amount to a protest — a protest against bogus limits on freedom of assembly in Hungary, and a protest against an international anti-gender movement, backed by Russia, supported by US ultraconservatives, and aimed at polarizing societies and weakening democracy.Support the show

The British Expat Report 2024 from money transfer specialists Currencies Direct found that 23% of UK adults are considering moving abroad in the next five years. The most popular reasons cited for wanting to do so were to pursue a better quality of life, the cost of living crisis and (of course!) the weather. But if you identify as LGBT, an additional consideration is of course finding a country where you know you'll be accepted and able to live freely. In the middle of Pride month, let's take a moment to consider which countries are best for LGBT people to move to. How can you tell if a country is LGBT-friendly before moving there? So which country scored highest then? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions! To listen to the last episodes, you can click here: Why do people say that black cats bring bad luck? Jonny and Heather process their weekend, which included domestic packing, Pride celebrations, and the threat of WWIII starting in the Middle East. They turn from this big bomb to the bombshell the SCOTUS dropped in its US v. Skrmetti decision. There is quite a lot of fallout already from that explosive ruling. In the back half of the show they explore queer and trans joy as activists' strategy and tactic, starting with an empowering gift from a fan of the show. The fight isn't over, folks, and we will prevail!

Send us a textWe often hear the phrase, “Love makes a family,” and while it's true that love is the most important ingredient in creating family, for many of our LGBTQ+ kids and beloveds, love also needs to be accompanied by access to reproductive medical support. So today, we're diving into what it really means to create family—from science to love to justice. Sara sits down with reproductive endocrinologist Dr. Jacqueline Gutmann to discuss the avenues available for creating family in queer partnerships.Special Guest: Dr. Jacqueline N. GutmannDr. Jacqueline N. Gutmann (she/her) is a Reproductive Endocrinologist at RMA of Philadelphia and has devoted her career to helping people create their families of choice. She has published numerous articles and has lectured extensively on topics including LGBT family building, third party reproduction, fertility preservation including egg freezing, and the use of complementary and alternative medicine in fertility treatment. She has held numerous leadership positions in local and national professional organizations and is on the medical advisory boards of several patient advocacy groups. She is the recipient of many awards, though the one she values most is the Joyce M. Vargyas, M.D. Visionary Award from Path2Parenthood, for her impact in the fields of fertility, reproductive health, and family building within the LGBTQ+ community. Can trans men be lesbians? That's the "hot" topic all over social right now, and today we openly discussed where we are at surrounding the topic. We talk about how labels can be helpful and hurtful at the same time, and how we continue to learn more and more as we make our way deeper into this community as late in life lesbians.https://www.sheboyganpress.com/story/opinion/readers/2025/06/15/sheboygan-stories-for-pride-month-meet-kirby-ember/84132944007/
