It's time travel, disco balls, and questionable fashion choices as Dave, Milt, and our buddy Adam Ya Ooh Ya crack open the Billboard Top 10 from September 8, 1979. What holds up? What makes us cringe? What still makes us want to roller-skate in short-shorts? We've got opinions. Expect heated debates on “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” vs. “My Sharona,” detours into random trivia, and the usual cocktail of nostalgia, snark, and stories you didn't ask for but can't stop listening to. Spoiler: Bruce makes an accidental cameo. Highlights include:
We didn't know it at the time, but a winter win over Man City would be our last one to date against Pep Guardiola's side, not to mention the highlight of Tom Davies, Ademola Lookman, and Ronald Koeman's Everton careers. Come the Spring, Kevin Mirallas gets dropped, Ross Barkley gets flopped, and the tricky Toffees can't be stopped (unless it's an away game). This episode is in association with The Excelsior. In this extra beefy episode, Ryan and Justin get together to discuss and rank Elvis's major live albums, from 1969's "In Person" to the posthumous "Elvis in Concert" For Song of the Week, Justin explores the history and original Mexican song "La Golondrina," behind "She Wears My Ring," which Elvis recorded in 1973 and released on 1974's "Good Times" album. Ryan then goes for the biggest SotW he's ever tackled on the show, looking into the iconic "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling," including Elvis's concert performances across the 1970s, and the story of the original by The Righteous Brothers. In Episode #1,042 of The Clay Edwards Show, host Clay Edwards recaps his birthday weekend with unfiltered enthusiasm. Reflecting on a much-improved year—unlike last year's mental struggles—he thanks fans for over 700 social media wishes, texts, and calls. Friday night kicked off with a lively dinner hangout with friends. Clay indulged in appetizers like fried crab claws, stuffed mushrooms, and fresh-baked bread slathered in sweet honey butter—so filling he barely touched his massive tomahawk ribeye. Having devoured a ribeye steak sandwich there for lunch earlier (followed by a two-hour nap), he boxed up the steak for steak-and-eggs brunches Saturday and Sunday, ensuring he got his money's worth. Saturday brought a road trip to Philadelphia, MS, for an evening of dining and boxing at Bout Time Brawling—a professional event packed with passion and entry-level pros. First stop: The Porter House in downtown Philadelphia, a spot Clay highly recommends for its phenomenal food and vibe. It's his second visit, perfect for a scenic drive, podcast listening, and quality time with a significant other or friends—a healthy change of scenery. Arriving late (around 8:30 PM after fights started at 7:00), they caught the main card but missed buddies Tyler Noseworthy (went to decision, goal: avoid knockout) and Bubba (victorious). Highlights included world-famous Mississippi rapper and influencer Topher's first sanctioned pro fight win against a wild opponent; local girls Hailey Schell's David-vs.-Goliath TKO over towering "Pookie" (Hailey, compact and powerful, dropped her like a tree—video on Clay's socials, even shared with Pearl Mayor Jake Windham); and Katy Stegeman's solid victory. The main event saw friend Luke Greenlee (quiet, unassuming beast) go toe-to-toe in a grueling battle, winning on judges' cards to go 3-0. Clay shares raw footage soon, emphasizing the raw power and lesson: "Be careful who you mouth off to—dynamite comes in small packages." The night was a family affair too—10 people total, including Clay's 76-year-old dad, who rode along and credited testosterone therapy for his renewed energy and quick wit, making the late-night drive home (ending around 11 PM) enjoyable with non-stop conversation. A fountain-of-youth boost visible in Dad's sharper memory and stamina.

The great engine of American success was built by generations of pioneers, entrepreneurs, scholars, soldiers and immigrants defined by their grit, strength and resilience.Contrast that indomitable spirit with today's generational cohort of special snowflakes who seek 'safe spaces', rush to 'cancel' any discomfiting realities, and demand desired outcomes without putting in the effort to achieve them. What happens to a society when it loses its backbone? And once lost, how if at all, can it be regained? For insights, we're fortunate to speak with Gregory Lukianoff president of the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, and co-author of the NYT best-selling book The Coddling Of The American Mind.WORRIED ABOUT THE MARKET? Witnessing the suffering of others can be deeply painful. In this guided meditation, Anushka Fernandopulle helps you cultivate both compassion and the ability to soothe yourself in the face of that pain. How to Do This Practice: Find somewhere peaceful, sit down and get comfortable. Once you're ready, gently close or soften your eyes. Start taking deep breaths and relax your body. Part by part, release tension in different areas of your body. Think of someone or a group of people you know or have heard of who may be having a hard time. Bring to mind an image of them. Connect with whatever it is they are struggling with. Mentally, make some wishes of compassion for them. For example, “May you be free from pain.” Or, “I am here with you.” You can also use this practice to focus on your own pain. To do this, call to mind your struggles and give yourself the same compassion you gave others. Scroll down for a transcription of this episode.
