"A collector of obscure volumes" [EMPT] Today we honor the enduring legacy of Vincent Starrett — the legendary journalist, bibliophile, and founding member of the Baker Street Irregulars — as we approach the 140th anniversary of his birth. To celebrate, the Torists International S.S. will host a landmark conference from October 23-25, 2026, in Starrett's longtime home of Chicago. The event's organizers, Jonathan Shimberg and Linda Crohn, share the inspiration behind the gathering and their own storied history within the Sherlockian community. They explain how the conference came together, and why Starrett's influence remains so vital to readers and collectors today. Our "Learned Societies" segment kicks off with Sherlockian society activities coming up the last half of May. Then, it's a new edition of "Examining the Pictures," with the film critic, journalist, and author Christian Monggaard, BSI, as he reviews Guy Ritchie's new Amazon Prime series, Young Sherlock. Finally, the Canonical Couplet quiz will test your Sherlock Holmes knowledge, with a copy of something from the IHOSE vaults for the winner. Send your answer to comment @ihearofsherlock.com by March 30, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. EST. All listeners are eligible to play. Oh, and make sure you stay until the very end of the episode. Eddie has joined Frank in the world of teaching, but he isn't sure that his colleagues are big fans of him. A bad week in the Champions League for English sides looks like it's getting worse, but have the early stages of NFL free agency thrown up any major signings? And India win the 2026 T20 Cricket World Cup as England continue to struggle in the Six Nations. Plus, Eddie still loves 'The Pitt', but he is a bit frustrated with some of the writing. And Frank tries to convince Eddie that Guy Ritchie actually makes good movies.

Nick kicks things off by talking about Oscar Day with Nick Digilio at the Museum of Broadcast Communications happening Sunday, March 15 from noon to 2:30. The event celebrates the Oscars and Nick's book, with Rick Kogan hosting the afternoon. If you want to be there, tickets are available now at museum.tv. Comedian and podcast host Lauren LoGiudice stops by next to talk about the upcoming Misfit Variety Show at The Annoyance Theatre. After that, TV critic Dan Fienberg from The Hollywood Reporter checks in for his regular TV rundown. They get into the HBO series “DTF St. Louis,” “Rooster” starring Steve Carell, and the new Guy Ritchie series “Young Sherlock” featuring Colin Firth and Joseph Fiennes. They also talk about the latest SNL episodes and the new season of Top Chef. Esmeralda Leon closes things out with some Oscar chatter, complaints about Daylight Saving Time, and a few more traditions that probably should have disappeared years ago. It's a full show with movies, TV, comedy, and the usual amount of chaos. [Ep 436]
If March is supposed to go out like a lamb, the TV studios didn't get the memo because DtW has a bunch of new TV to check out and a lot of it is deep into the month! Dan and Raul have a few selections to start, including a Guy Ritchie style Young Sherlock, a love triange that is DTF St. Louis style and a movie about a Bride! married to a real monster. Midway through the month it's D'arcy Carden and Will Forte falling into comedic crime days and Sunny Nights along with a sequel season called Jury Duty Presents Company Retreat, for fans of the original Jury Duty. Finally we reach late March with returning shows like The Comeback, Daredevil: Born Again and The For All Mankind, shows that The Hosts of this pod find worth mentioning, as well as shiny new stuff like Rhiz Ahmed's Bait and films They Will Kill You and Project Hail Mary. The month marches forward with plenty to keep us excited throughout, so give it a listen and get moving!

Alex and James cast their eyes outwards from the established Bond casts and try to imagine other actors, actresses, directors and composers in a Bond role. Not just potential other 007s, but Ms, Qs, Moneypennys, villains, and more. For this exercise, we each chose two films and tried to imagine who would be involved with them if they were made in a different time. What would a 1980s Goldfinger look like? A Guy Ritchie-directed Live & Let Die? And, inevitably, a Christopher Nolan Bond film? Alex Zalben, Editor of Comic Book Club, joins Wendy Snyder, in for Lisa Dent, to discuss the latest in television, entertainment, and streaming.

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!This week Pip is joined by the fabulous actors HERO FIENNES TIFFIN & DONAL FINN!What with Young Sherlock premiering on Prime TODAY (at time of publishing, that is) - or for those listening later - March 4th, what better pairing than Sherlock Holmes and James Moriarty (and our man Scroobius Pip who also stars in the show!). Guy Ritchie directed it, and it sounded like a very cool and very unique environment to be a part of... We catch Hero and Donal at the very start of the press run, but already they have their off-screen chemistry down to science as they let us all in on the process, which is one that embraces spontaneity while being fully prepared. Along with the blend of loose / tight, we also hear about the musicality of the script which includes meticulous cadence, having room to present ideas and creative input on set, the importance of careful scheduling and also how to portray the Mind Palace. Many have attempted it... What will this iteration look like?

Welcome to the Hollywood Hangout, the place where we dissect the glitz, the grit, and the mind-bending side of cinema. This week, the booth looks a little different as Boxman goes solo for a deep dive into Guy Ritchie's most polarizing and cerebral film to date: the 2005 psychological thriller, Revolver. If you thought Snatch was complicated, grab a notebook. Here's what's on the docket for this episode:Episode BreakdownThe Overview: Boxman sets the stage, looking back at the mid-2000s landscape and how this film took audiences (and critics) by surprise with its shift from "cockney crime" to "existential crisis."The Players: A breakdown of the cast, from Jason Statham's long-haired Jake Green to Ray Liotta's sweat-soaked Macha. Boxman explores how these characters serve as more than just gangsters—they're archetypes. The Internal War: We're digging deep into the film's core philosophy. Boxman deconstructs the concept of the Ego as the ultimate con artist. The Big Twist: Who is Sam Gold? Boxman unpacks the ending that left half the audience cheering and the other half scratching their heads. Is Gold a man, a myth, or the monster in the mirror?"The greatest trick that he ever pulled was convincing you that he is you."Whether you're a long-time fan of the "formula" or you're still trying to figure out what happened in that elevator scene, this is an episode you don't want to miss.Listen now and remember: protect your investment.Check us out on:Every Thursday at 9:30 PM EasternYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@hollywoodhangoutpodcastSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/1ymX0HRkWB45ja11B2I6fmApple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/hollywood-hangout/id1132940251Castbox: https://castbox.fm/channel/4647345?country=usFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/HollywoodHangout/

Update on our week: The Freeform Radio crew kicks off the new episode full of movies, games, sports, and tech talk. Noel starts things off with a blunt review of Aquaman 2, breaking down why the long-delayed DC sequel falls flat despite its massive budget, uneven CGI, and rushed finale. He then shifts gears to recommend Guy Ritchie's The Covenant, praising the intense, emotional military drama starring Jake Gyllenhaal, and shares his excitement after finally beating Horizon Forbidden West. Danny follows up with a look at Netflix's Elway documentary, highlighting the legendary quarterback's career, personal struggles, and lasting legacy. He also reviews the game RoboCop: Rogue City, calling it a polished AA-style shooter packed with nostalgic nods to the classic films. To wrap up his segment, he dives into the supernatural horror film The Sinners, applauding its atmosphere, music, and unique twin-performance by Michael B. Jordan. Andy brings the energy with a passionate recap of the Chicago Bears' dramatic playoff comeback win over the Green Bay Packers, calling it one of the most exciting moments in recent franchise history. The guys debate whether the Bears can keep their momentum going and what the win means for the future of the NFC North. The episode closes with Andy's “Article of the Week,” exploring a new PlayStation 5 jailbreak exploit tied to the rare Star Wars: Racer Revenge disc. The crew discusses the implications for retro gaming, emulation, hardware security, and whether jailbreaking consoles is worth the hassle in today's gaming landscape. From superhero disappointments and standout war films to Bears fever and next-gen hacking, this episode delivers a wide-ranging, opinionated, and entertaining start to the new year on Freeform Radio. Well this movie was unexpected. What was supposed to be a quick convo on a Guy Ritchie crime movie turned into….something.LIWstudios.com
How We Seeez It! Episode 319, Snatch (2001) “You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.” – Bullet Tooth Tony. Guy Ritchie's fun, high-paced, highly rewatchable look at a jewel heist gone wrong. Throw in an unpredictable underground boxing match and plenty of indecipherable speech. The unique style of this movie will have you watching it again, or maybe it is just Brad Pitt's portrayal of Mickey. So, join us for the discussion, and don't forget about our cocktails for this episode. There should be some good ones. As always, mix a drink, have a listen, and let us know what you think. Let us know if there is something you watched that we might enjoy, or a can't-miss series. Also, please rate and review the show on all your favorite podcast apps. This episode begins the only way we know how: absolute chaos. We veer from wills, tits, and Stranger Things before eventually remembering we're meant to be talking about a film. If you're new here, that's the show. The film in question is Guy Ritchie's The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare — a swaggering WWII caper based on a real black-ops unit hand-picked by Churchill and Ian Fleming. Set in 1941, it imagines the birth of modern special forces: not rules, not honour, just twenty feral specialists sent in to break things and terrify the enemy. We talk about:The shift from “civilised” warfare to winning at any costHenry Cavill as a proto–James Bond, recruited straight out of prisonThe opening “Swedish fishermen” massacre as a mission statementCartoon-level violence, moustaches, one-liners and Guy Ritchie excessThe joy of watching war movies ditch decorum for chaosWhy SAS: Rogue Heroes makes the perfect companion pieceIt's not subtle. It's not serious. It's loud, slick, and gleefully ridiculous — a war movie powered by bravado and bad behaviour. If you like explosions, rule-breaking, and men with absolutely no fear of death, this episode (and this film) are for you.You can now text us anonymously to leave feedback, suggest future content or simply hurl abuse at us. Jake Casella Brookins of the Ancillary Review of Books and A Meal of Thorns joins us to discuss a novel by Nick Harkaway. We last encountered Harkaway carrying on his father's spy novel franchise, and this isn't that - it's more Neverwhere as directed by Guy Ritchie - but there's still a lot in there about legacies and dads.

On this week's episode, the guys kick things off with an engaging discussion about Guy Ritchie's latest endeavor, the show Young Sherlock, which is now available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video. They delve into the unique elements that Ritchie brings to the table, exploring how his distinctive storytelling style and cinematic flair might shape the beloved character of Sherlock Holmes in a fresh and innovative way. The conversation touches on the casting choices, the visual aesthetics of the show, and how it fits into the broader landscape of adaptations of classic literary figures. As the discussion progresses, the conversation takes an intriguing turn towards a fascinating piece of news concerning Clair Obscur, a studio that has recently made headlines for its pioneering use of Generative AI in the development of their award-winning game. The guys examine the implications of integrating AI technology into the creative process, discussing how it can enhance storytelling, character development, and even the gameplay experience itself. They reflect on the potential benefits and challenges that come with relying on AI in creative fields, pondering what this means for the future of game development and the artistic integrity of the medium. This leads to an exciting segment where Cody shares his latest experiences with the much-talked-about game Cyberpunk 2077. He recounts his newest attempts to navigate the sprawling, dystopian world of Night City, detailing the highs and lows of his gameplay. Cody discusses the intricate storylines, the depth of character customization, and the vast open world that players can explore. He also touches on the improvements and updates that have been made since the game's initial release, which have significantly enhanced the overall player experience. Joe listens intently, chiming in with his thoughts and questions, as they both reflect on the evolution of video games and the impact of player choices within immersive narratives. The episode wraps up with a spirited debate about the intersection of technology and creativity in modern entertainment, leaving listeners with plenty to ponder until the next installment.Official Website: https://www.comesnaturallypodcast.comOfficial Merchandise: https://shop.spreadshirt.com/comes-naturally-podcast/iTunes: http://tinyurl.com/kqkgackFacebook: http://tinyurl.com/myovgm8Tumblr: http://tinyurl.com/m7a6mg9Twitter: @ComesNaturalPodYouTube: http://tiny.cc/5snxpy

Sources say the Reiner family was aware of how dangerous their troubled son had become long before tragedy struck. Across the pond, Madonna and Guy Ritchie reunited for the first time in nearly 20 years to support son Rocco, but insiders describe the encounter as painfully awkward, distant, and devoid of warmth. Meanwhile, Meghan Markle’s ongoing battle with her ailing father has escalated, with Netflix now pulled into the conflict — a move sources say has intensified an already spiraling PR crisis Don't forget to vote in today's poll on Twitter at @naughtynicerob or in our Facebook group.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
This week on Movie Mistrial, we dive into the chaotic, kinetic, and endlessly quotable underworld of Guy Ritchie's Snatch.Snatch crackles with energy, attitude, and razor-sharp humor. With its ensemble cast—including unforgettable turns from Brad Pitt, Jason Statham, and Benicio del Toro—Ritchie crafts a fast-paced, stylish crime caper that balances gritty violence with ironic wit. Its nonlinear storytelling and punchy editing make it one of the most entertaining entries in the British gangster genre.Despite its cult popularity, some viewers find Snatch overly hectic or stylized to the point of distraction. Its rapid-fire dialogue, thick accents, and sprawling cast of characters can be overwhelming, and its narrative may feel more like a clever collage than a cohesive story.Join us as we decipher the chaos of Snatch. Is it a slick, swagger-filled gem—or a whirlwind of style that leaves some audiences behind?Connect with us and share your thoughts:Twitter: http://tiny.cc/MistrialTwitter

Dan Cadan may not be a name familiar to too many, but he's had quite the career. In this special Film Stories episode, he tells his tale of how the lad growing up in Huddersfield went on to work with Guy Ritchie (including writing a remake of The Wild Geese), Stephen Graham, Madonna and more. Then, getting a film made, the sole UK release from the Fox International label, Walk Like A Panther. He takes us into the highs and lows of that, his letter about it to Kermode & Mayo, and what mischief he's up to now. Quite the story this... Learn more about your ad choices. Between Fast & Furious rants, Guy Ritchie tangents, and Chris Stanley's sports-betting redemption arc, Ryan fits right into the chaos.
