Bart Mixon was Born in Houston, Texas, Mixon began his special make-up effects career working on local independent productions, including the 1984 thriller Courage, starring, co-written and produced by Ronny Cox. He eventually became a make-up lab technician and on-set makeup artist on more high profile productions, including A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985), The Supernaturals (1986) and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986). Perhaps more notably, he worked on The Terminator (1984) and was part of the "Robot Team" on RoboCop (1987). In 1987, Mixon moved to Los Angeles, California, where he supervised special make-up and creature effects for such projects as Fright Night Part 2 (1988), Pet Sematary (1989), Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990), Predator 2 (1990) and Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1992). He was also the creature effects supervisor on Stephen King's It (1990); as such, he was responsible for designing, sculpting and applying the make-up for the Pennywise character. After working on the Klownzilla hands on Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988), Bart worked with the Chiodo Bros. once again as the Shop Foreman during the production of Ernest Scared Stupid (1991) where he supervised the creation of the trolls! He returned to do makeup FX work on Pet Sematary Two (1992). In 1994, Mixon entered into a partnership with fellow Star Trek make-up artist Earl Ellis to create the make-up effects studio Mixon & Ellis FX (or ME FX). Over the next four years, the studio created make-up and prosthetics for such films as Fargo (1996), Men in Black (1997) and Rushmore (1998). Mixon closed down the studio in 1998 and has since worked as a freelance artist on films such as How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000), Planet of the Apes (2001), Men in Black II (2002), The Ring (2002), Hellboy (2004) and Collateral (2004). Mixon also was the prosthetic make-up artist for The Thing on Fantastic Four (2005) and Fantastic Four: The Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007). He was also a key prosthetic artist on X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) and was a make-up artist on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006). In addition, he worked on the Academy Award-nominated prosthetic make-up for Norbit (2007). Read transcriptAttention, galaxy defenders and neuralyzer-dodging citizens! This week on Play Comics, we're suiting up to tackle Men in Black II: Alien Escape, a title that hit the PS2 and GameCube with all the grace of a cockroach climbing out of a dumpster. We are looking at a game that saw the plot of the second movie, shrugged, and decided that what the franchise really needed was a run-and-gun shooter where Agent K looks less like a grizzled veteran and more like an Elvis impersonator midway through a bad Vegas residency. Joining us to figure out why the Class 7 Ozone Demogrifier sounds like a vacuum cleaner you'd buy from a 3 AM infomercial is the omnipresent Doug Fink. You know him, you love him, and you can hear him on Walloping Websnappers, Novel Gaming, Falling with Style, and Skreeonk, all of which are on the Glitterjaw Podcast Collective. Together, we're diving deep into a game that proves you don't actually need the likeness rights to your main characters to ship a product, provided you have enough aliens to splatter across a corridor that looks exactly like the last five corridors you just ran through. So put on your Ray-Bans, check your memories at the door, and prepare for an episode that makes about as much sense as putting a Ballchinian in a post office. Learn such things as: Is it possible to base a game on a movie while simultaneously ignoring 90% of the things that happened in said movie? How many times can you fight the same boss with a slightly different color palette before you start rooting for the destruction of Earth? Can you even compare this to the comics or should you just compare it to the movies? And so much more! You can find Doug on BlueSky @ickybooley and of course all of his wonderful shows on the Glitterjaw Queer Podcast Collective, Walloping Websnappers, Novel Gaming, Falling with Style, and Skreeonk. If you want to be a guest on the show please check out the Be a A Guest on the Show page and let me know what you're interested in. Editors Maria Gonzales and Aika Miyake The work of SHOGUN editors, Maria Gonzales and Aika Miyake played a crucial role in the success of this adaptation of James Clavell's novel, as Maria and Aika created a fast-paced story, shifting the conflicts away from battlefields and into political intrigues by highlighting interpersonal dynamics, intense dialogue scenes, and the crucial role of female characters. While editing, they were also often challenged with condensing the run times of episodes down from close to one hundred minutes to one hour each, while still fleshing out the complex tapestry and culture clashes of XVII century Japan and overcoming language barriers themselves. SHOGUN follows the collision of two ambitious men from different worlds; John Blackthorne, a risk-taking English sailor who ends up shipwrecked in Japan and in a country whose unfamiliar culture will ultimately redefine him, and Lord Toranaga, a shrewd and powerful daimyo at odds with his own dangerous political rivals. Entangled with the pair is Lady Mariko, a woman with invaluable skills but dishonorable family ties, who must prove her value and allegiance. MARIA GONZALES With over twenty years of experience in the industry, Maria's previous television work includes many award-winning shows, including The Old Man, See, and Counterpart, as well as fan-favorite shows, like The Walking Dead and its spin-off show, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. Outside of her episodic work, Maria served as an editor on two horror features: A24's fantasy horror The Monster and Blumhouse's horror thriller Mockingbird. She also previously worked as an assistant editor on the Academy Award-winning film The Bourne Ultimatum and Academy Award-nominated Up in the Air along with working on a long list of features beloved by audiences, including Jon Favreau's Chef and Barry Sonnenfeld's Men in Black II. Maria sees editing as the subtle hand that guides narratives into seamless coherence, and she continually seeks the delicate equilibrium between creativity and technical mastery while fostering a creative environment that uplifts those around her. Currently living in Los Angeles with her family, Maria was born in the United States but spent her formative years in modern-day Serbia before returning to LA to study at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, where she graduated with a BA in Cinema Studies. AIKA MIYAKE Aika's sixteen years of film/tv work spans across all styles and genres, covering short-form branded content, documentaries, narrative TV, and feature films. Her television work includes Netflix's Emmy-winning documentary mini-series Chef's Table: BBQ, and Beyonce's Emmy-winning and Grammy-nominated visual album Black Is King. Aika also worked on a diverse range of films, including the "nominated at SXSW Film Festival" short documentary film Coming Home, and Best Documentary Feature winner at the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival, Hafu: The Mixed-Race Experience in Japan. She started her career working on commercials and music videos with clients such as Nike, Pampers, IKEA, and Spotify to name a few. Growing up in Japan, Aika enjoyed playing drums and making hundreds of mixtapes for her sisters, and after discovering her passion for photography, she opened her heart to the potential of filmmaking and how images paired with music could create emotional experiences. She currently lives in Los Angeles. Outside of her work in editing, Aika is passionate about food, travel, reggae music, and her two cats, Oreo and Millie. We're back - in black - to get things rolling for Ramblin in 2024. Sean Comer and Mark Radulich present their Men In Black Movie Trilogy Review. Men in Black (also known as MIB) is a series of American science fiction action comedy films directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, and based on the Malibu / Marvel comic book series The Men in Black by Lowell Cunningham, which was itself based on the conspiracy theory. The first film, Men in Black, was released in 1997, the second film, Men in Black II in 2002, the third film, Men in Black 3 in 2012, and the fourth film, a spin-off Men in Black: International in 2019. Editor - Randy Trager, ACE NIMONA editor, Randy Trager, ACE makes a return trip to The Rough Cut to share the inside story of how his latest film went from dead on the cutting room floor to live and loud on Netflix. Beginning its development life under the banner of Blue Sky studios and its parent company 21st Century Fox, NIMONA and the rest of the Blue Sky team were moved under Disney during their acquisition of Fox. The film's rocky development road seemingly ended in April 2021 when Disney shuttered Blue Sky. With her relentless, never-say-die attitude, NIMONA found new life again with Annapurna Pictures and Netflix. NIMONA tells the tale of Ballister Boldheart (Riz Ahmed), a knight in a futuristic medieval world, who is framed for a crime he didn't commit. The only one who can help him prove his innocence? Nimona (Chloë Grace Moretz), a mischievous teen with a taste for mayhem - who also happens to be a shapeshifting creature Ballister has been trained to destroy. But with the entire kingdom out to get him, Nimona's the best (and technically the only) sidekick Ballister can hope for. And as the lines between heroes, villains, and monsters start to blur, the two of them set out to wreak serious havoc - for Ballister to clear his name once and for all, and for Nimona to...just wreak serious havoc. RANDY TRAGER, ACE Randy began his editorial journey as an assistant editor on features such as NURSE BETTY (2000), WHAT WOMEN WANT (2000) and MEN IN BLACK II (2002). It's another week of our MEN IN BLACK month as we move into the year that was 2002 and look at the blockbuster sequel that is Men in Black II to see if it holds up 20 years later and perhaps needs some more love! Was 2002 the biggest year ever for movies and how does this movie fit into that category? Are some of the actors phoning it in during this film or are they really not that bad? Why do the special effects look so dated? Which characters are way over used than they should be? Why is Colin still struggling to know what sex is? Do we want to go to the real Ben's pizza place? How epic is the Michael Jackson cameo? Does this movie just go way too fast? How many plot holes can we pick out? Why is the David Cross and Colombe Jacobsen stuff the best stuff in the movie? Why can't Ben & Colin agree on Rosario Dawson? Why are farts so funny? And why does this movie have the best Will Smith song out of all of them? It's a movie that you'll want to hear us talk about so get to it and don't be disappointed! ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
Kevin Isola is a self-described journeyman actor, who has experienced great longevity in several media, including theatre, television and film. The Pasadena native attended Duke University, and consequently studied acting at NYU-Tisch, where he discovered the value of being freed-up creatively through faculty who mentored and pushed his creative strengths. We discuss a major moment in his career, which came when he played Rev in the hit 1997 play, The New Bozena, alongside friends and Tisch classmates David Costabile (Lincoln; Billions; Breaking Bad; Low Winter Sun), Michael Dahlen (Blue Man Group; Men in Black II); and Rainn Wilson (The Office; Super; Juno), the latter serving as director. The experience was a trial by fire of navigating an original, creative property which flourished in New York to its sale to Twentieth Century Fox, and being immersed into the Hollywood system. In theatre, Kevin has appeared in WASP and Other Plays (Written by Steve Martin); Twelfth Night; Brooklyn Boy (on Broadway); Accidental Death of an Anarchist; Venus; and Everett Beekin (by Obie Award winner Evan Yionoulis). He was recently in Our Lady of 121st Street (Off-Broadway) and Life Sucks, a reimagined adaptation of the Anton Chekhov classic Uncle Vanya, in which he played Vanya. He has appeared in films such as How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Jim Carrey); Blumenthal (Brian Cox); and Academy Boyz (Ed Asner). His numerous television credits include Billions; Damages; Fringe; Boston Legal; Elementary; Bull; and Law & Order. He has returned to his alma mater, Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, where he previously earned an MFA, as Adjunct Professor in the Graduate Acting Department to teach courses on Shakespeare's Clowns and Advanced Clowning Techniques. In our talk, we discuss his unique journey into several of these creative experiences, including developing recurring character arcs on television; finding himself on the stage through genuine mentors; the evolution of clowning; the irreverant comedy of the web-series Mommy Blogger (Tricia Paoluccio); and working with Glenn Close, Damian Lewis and C.J. Wilson. Opening Credits: UP Paolo Pavan Pasqualino Ubaldini - 06 five special blues; Closing Credits: Another Brick - 1. Refraction

Join the Best of the Rest discord:https://discord.gg/86P7jJXNPbMen In Black was one of the biggest sci-fi action movies of the 90s, and a touchstone of pop culture. A sequel seemed inevitable, but the wait was a little longer than expected. And when MIIB did arrive, its impact was only a fraction of its predecessor, and the legacy of the film seemed destined to be 'it's not as good as the first one.'Until today! When removed from the shadow of the original, what genuinely works in this mostly forgotten sequel? Do some jokes still land? Is the action still fun? Is Tony Shalhoub still a charismatically pathetic alien? All of these questions and more are explored in this week's discussion of Men In Black II. The DCEU has had its fair share of ups and downs over the past decade, and it all began with the divisive Man of Steel. While some felt that this portrayal of Superman was refreshing, others said it didn't feel like Superman at all. The only question we are answering today is: What did the movie get right? Packed with an all star cast and and stuffed with action scenes, there is a lot to dive into this week. Does any of the cast live up to (or surpass) the legacy set by previous performances? Are Henry Cavill's abs actually made of steel? Recorded live in Nashville Tennessee, the Metal Cowboy Ron Keel joins the program for a once in a lifetime event for Cobras & Fire. This one will make you smile. #ROCKNPODFrom that first Steeler album to recent releases like “South X South Dakota” and “Fight Like A Band,” Ron Keel's 35-year career in entertainment has taken him from the concrete jungles of arena rock to the dirt roads of country music. Along the way, he has sold millions of albums and toured the world as both a heavy metal screamer (KEEL, Steeler, and a brief encounter with Black Sabbath) and a southern rock/outlaw country artist (with dozens of songs in major films and TV shows). For the past two decades, the Metal Cowboy has combined both genres, establishing a style and a persona which captures the heart and personality of this self-proclaimed rock n' roll outlaw. Keel's legendary major label debut album THE RIGHT TO ROCK was produced by KISS' Gene Simmons – they went on to notch three albums on Billboard's Hot 100 as well as MTV and radio hits “The Right To Rock,” “Because The Night,” “Tears Of Fire,” “Somebody's Waiting,” and “Rock N Roll Outlaw.”Opening shows for Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Aerosmith, Motley Crue, Dio, Y&T, Queensryche and many more established a hard work ethic that remains strong today; the 2019/2020 World Tour included the Monsters Of Rock Cruise (Belize/Cozumel), Ron's first-ever tour of Australia, the Frontiers Rock Festival in Milan, Italy, the KISS & Rock N Roll Expo in Helsinki, Finland, casinos, fairs and festivals stateside, KEELFEST (featuring Keel, Ron Keel Band and Steeler) plus major bike events like the Sturgis Rally and Hot Harley Nights. After nearly three years hosting the “Streets of Rock & Roll” rock-and-talk syndicated radio show, Keel was handpicked to join a dream team of Midwest rock radio royalty on KBAD 94.5 FM, where Ron's “Mid-Day Mayhem” show skyrocketed to the top of the Neilson ratings for that region. He's now back on the “Streets Of Rock N Roll” with weekly broadcasts on PureRockRadio.net, TotalRock.com, 97Underground, Philly Rock Radio and RockRageRadio.com.As a songwriter, Ron has dozens of TV and film credits – major movies like “Men In Black II,” “Dolphin Tale,” “The Messengers” and many more – and his songs have been featured in hit TV shows like “X-Files,” “Desperate Housewives,” “The Simpsons,” “King Of The Hill,” and the Daytona 500 broadcast.
