Matthew presents Jesus Christ as the Jesus as the Mashiach Nagid, the Messiah the King, the Lion of the tribe of Judah. It was written by a Jew, to Jews, about a Jew. This book of the Bible uses more Old Testament quotes than any other. The Gospel of Matthew emphasizes the saying of Jesus, including ten parables not found in any other Gospel. After first establishing the royal genealogy, he then goes on to focus on the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies. Matthew uses the term "fulfilled" 82 times! Many scholars now believe that the Gospel was written before Paul's first imprisonment of 57-60 A.D., and that virtually all of the New Testament books were written before Jerusalem's destruction. This study contains 24 hours of verse by verse teachings. Copyright © 11-01-2006 Recorded: 2006

Engage with scripture readings, heartfelt devotionals, and collective prayers that draw you into the heart of God's love. Embark on this year-long voyage through the Bible, and let each day's passage uplift and inspire you. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible! On this August 15th episode, your host and Bible reading coach, Hunter, invites you to journey through the pages of Scripture together. Today's readings include Jeremiah chapters 18–20, Psalm 93, and John 17. As we reflect on God's word, Hunter reminds us that the Scriptures point our hearts to Jesus, the living Word, and reveal the deep love and blessings the Father lavishes upon us. We explore themes of God's transformative power, His call to repentance, and the unity, joy, and protection Jesus prays over His followers. The episode closes with a heartfelt blessing and a time of prayer—reminding us that we are deeply loved, and calling us to walk forward in God's joy and strength. Join us as we root ourselves in His love and truth, together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Jesus prays a blessing over us. We see this kind of blessing prayer echoed throughout scripture—patriarchs blessing their children, conferring identity, inheritance, and place in the family of God. In John 17, Jesus is offering this kind of prayer, but it's a prayer that echoes into eternity, and it is not just for the twelve gathered there that night. It's for us. We are included in this blessing, this conferral of identity and destiny. We are told who we are in God's family, what our inheritance is as His children. What is spoken over us here is the message of life in the Son—the Gospel conferred as a gift, received freely. From this gift of Christ flow so many others: gifts of unity, gifts of protection, the gift of joy, the gift of God's Word, and supremely, the gift of Christ himself. Jesus prays, “Father, you have given me your name. Now protect them by the power of your name so that they will be united just as we are.” We are blessed with unity in Him. He says, “I have given them your word.” In His word, we find joy, our identity, the assurance that we are loved. He gives himself as a sacrifice for us, setting us apart, making us holy by his truth. And finally, he says, “I have given them the glory you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one.” The presence of Christ in us is our hope, our glory, our very life. This abiding blessing is the Christian life: God pouring out his love, his joy, his strength, his word, his presence—his life—into ours. So let your roots go down deep into the love of God. May you discover, each day, how wide, how long, how high, how deep is Christ's love for you. May you experience the fullness of this life and power, made complete in Him. This is the prayer for my soul. This is the prayer for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And this is the prayer I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Jesus is my shepherd, you have called me by my name into the life of the beloved. Here in the stillness, I remember that I am not alone. I belong to you and to the great communion of saints and sinners held together in your love. Remind me, Lord, that every breath is grace, every encounter is a chance to give what I have received, mercy without measure. When I forget who I am, when I lose my way, lead me again to still waters. Restore my soul, renew my hope. Reroute me in the joy of simply being yours. Amen. And now, as our Lord has taught us, we are bold to pray: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen. OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation. Sara Lippman and Seth Rogoff believe that "foundational texts must be read anew or they become tools of conservatism and reaction." But it's not just a belief they hold -- together, they actualized it into a new book, entitled Smashing the Tablets: Radical Retellings of the Hebrew Bible. This book offers a wide variety of new texts, radically revisioning stories from the Bible in many creative forms. The two co-editors join Dan Libenson and Lex Rofeberg for a conversation about their book, about re-envisioning the Bible more generally, and why "smashing" inherited texts is not only a rebellious act, but also an important tool in the spiritual toolbox.------------------------------------Judaism Unbound's offerings for 3-week mini-courses in the UnYeshiva are now open for registration! In our reading of Proverbs 14, Fr. Mike reinforces that freedom is not the same thing as license, true freedom is the power to do what we ought. Fr. Mike also reflects on Jeremiah's repudiation of Israel's cult worship and how its distorted sexuality had serious consequences. Today's readings are Jeremiah 3, Ezekiel 29-30, and Proverbs 14:13-16. “Children are the supreme gift of marriage,” says Vatican II. Marriage is directed by its very nature toward the procreation of children. Beyond this, parents are the primary educators of their children, responsible for their holistic formation. Sadly, many couples suffer from infertility. Even in their struggle, they can provide a powerful witness of love, sacrifice, and fidelity. In all this and more, we see the family as the Domestic Church. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 1652-1658. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. Sharing the gospel with Catholics is an act of love because God loves them deeply. In this episode, Ray, E.Z., Mark, and Oscar delve into the implications of Catholic teachings on the role of the Pope and its significance for the Gospel. The Pope is the head of the Catholic Church, but Scripture makes it clear: Christ alone is the head of the Church, which consists of true believers. While the Catholic Church has played a significant role in preserving God's word and has done much good worth recognizing, there are serious concerns regarding salvation. The Catholic Church has always taught faith, but not salvation by grace alone. The idea that grace follows all you can do stands in direct tension with the biblical message of imputed righteousness. Christ's righteousness is credited to believers, not earned through merit. The guys make it clear they are not claiming there are no saved Catholics, but that salvation would be despite official Church teaching, not because of it. Oscar challenges the belief that Peter was the first pope, arguing that the early church resembled a presbytery, where multiple bishops served collectively. Historical evidence shows that the title and authority of the pope developed over time. Even papal infallibility was not formally declared until the 1800s and remains a topic of controversy among Catholics.A central concern is the tendency to elevate tradition above scripture. The guys urge believers to let the Bible speak clearly. William Tindale gave his life to make scripture accessible, and it remains the most effective tool in gospel conversations. Matthew 16 refers to the truth that Jesus is the Christ as the rock, not Peter himself. Peter was important, but not preeminent. He referred to all believers as a royal priesthood. Reassigning that identity to a single man misrepresents the biblical narrative. The guys also discuss doctrines that have been added over time, such as purgatory, the veneration of saints, and praying to the dead. These practices shift attention away from Christ. There is one mediator between God and man, and that is Jesus. Ray shares that many Catholics know Jesus died for their sins but cannot explain what that means for their salvation. He has found that they are often open and willing to engage in a deep way. Rather than argue, he focuses on walking them through the gospel and lets God work. Scripture remains the authority. The church is built on Christ, not Peter. Grace is God's unmerited favor to the undeserving. Compassion must not lead to compromise. The gospel is simple, powerful, and straightforward. Christ alone is the head of the Church.Send us a textThanks for listening! Michael Jones delves into the complexities of American identity, the influence of social engineering post-World War II, and the moral dilemmas facing the nation today. Alcohol is something that many have used to ruin their lives, but alcohol itself is not a sin. When we choose to do something, whether drink alcohol or any other thing, we need to make sure that we are doing it for the glory of God. Rather than getting drunk with alcohol, the Bible instructs us to get drunk in the Spirit and let Him lead us and guide us in the things He wants us to do.

Engage with scripture readings, heartfelt devotionals, and collective prayers that draw you into the heart of God's love. Embark on this year-long voyage through the Bible, and let each day's passage uplift and inspire you. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the August 14th, 2025 episode of the Daily Radio Bible. Join your host, Hunter, as he guides us through day 227 of our journey in Scripture. Today's readings take us from the prophetic words of Jeremiah—speaking into exile, hope, and the deep struggles of the human heart—to the exuberant praise in Psalm 96, and finally into the tender, powerful moments Jesus shares with His disciples in John 16. Hunter invites us to imagine what it would be like to spend a whole day with Jesus—free from judgment, fear, and condemnation, and filled instead with peace and God's loving presence. As we listen, we're reminded that Christ's presence and the Spirit are available to us today, wherever we are, inviting us into a life marked by deep joy and abiding faith. Stay with us for Scripture, reflection, and prayer to help you ground your day in God's word and love. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Imagine a day with Jesus—just beginning your day with him, having coffee, driving to work, simply sharing your routines and moments with him. As you spend this day with Jesus, you soon realize it is a day like no other. It's a day without judgment, a day without fear, a day without condemnation—a day lived in God's life-giving presence, where you are truly free. How could anything be better than that? That's exactly what the disciples experienced: days and years walking with Jesus, learning from him, being next to him, their eyes opened to who God is and what he is truly like—self-giving, radically forgiving, and co-suffering in his love for all, even for enemies. For these disciples, there didn't seem a greater reality than simply being by his side. But in John 16, Jesus tells them something almost unimaginable. He says it's better for them—better for us—that he should go. Why? Because as he departs, he promises to send the Advocate, the Spirit of God, who will dwell not just with a few, but in all who receive him. This Advocate, the Holy Spirit, reveals to the world the true character and glory of God. He brings God's abiding presence into every believer's life, awakening us to a deeper reality: Christ, not just among us, but within us—wherever we are, whatever our circumstance. The presence of Christ in us is God's best gift, given freely today to all his children. No matter if you're in Cincinnati, Somerset, Perth, or São Paulo, the Spirit of Christ is with you, awakening your heart to the presence and peace of God. Through him, you can live this day—every day—without condemnation, without fear, enjoying the peace and abundant joy that Jesus gives. God's best is yours, right now. That's the prayer I have for my own soul: to live and walk in that presence, in that peace and freedom. It's the prayer I hold for my family—my wife, my daughters, my son. And it's the prayer I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord of life, you have awakened me again to the gift of this day. You go before me, walk beside me and dwell within me. Let me walk slowly in your presence. May I resist the hurried spirit of this world and instead breathe deep of your peace. Open my eyes to beauty, my ears to your voice, and my heart to the quiet work of grace. Help me not to strive, but to abide, not to achieve, but to receive. Today. Let my words carry your kindness. My actions reflect your mercy. My thoughts be anchored in your truth that I am yours and you are with me. Amen. And now, as our Lord has taught us, we are bold to pray. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen. OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation.
