Disney Springs at Christmas: Why it Tops at Least One Disney Park

Most guests think it's all about the parks and resort hotels when it comes to Christmas at Walt Disney World, but Disney Springs can give them all a run for their money (and even top one park as a must-do holiday destination). Here's why Disney Springs is a top pick for holiday spirit at Walt Disney World (and the fact that it's free for anyone to visit is just a bonus). The Complete Guide to Disney Springs Christmas 2023The best things to do at Disney Springs this Christmas holiday seasonDisney Springs Christmas Tree Stroll (Free)One of the most underrated traditions at Walt Disney World is the Disney Springs Christmas Tree Stroll. For 2023 the Christmas Tree Stroll has 19 Disney- decorated trees with themes from Disney, Pixar, Star Wars and Super Heros. For the first time you can interact with six of the Christmas trees with your DIsneyBand+ (aka MagicBand+). Look for a DisneyBand+ icon to know which trees are active. There's also a Christmas tree map adventure. Get a map of the trees from City Works Eatery & Pour House, Crystal Arts, Joffrey's Coffee, The LEGO Store or Planet Hollywood. As you see each tree, match a sticker to the location on the map then bring your map to any of these same locations for a special surprise.Meet Santa at Once Upon a Toy (Free)You don't have to pay for a Disney Park to meet a Disney Santa. Santa Claus is at Once Upon a Toy in Disney Springs right up until Christmas Eve, December 24. There is a virtual queue to meet Santa: you cannot just wait in line. Queue spots open daily at 9:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 2:00 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. in the My Disney Experience app. You must be at Disney Springs to enter the queue. One person can do it for everyone in your group (up to a max of 10 people)Photo Memories of a Disney ChristmasChristmas photos are fun memories, especially when they're Disney vacation Christmas photos. The Disney PhotoPass Studio in the Marketplace at Disney Springs has several holiday-themed Disney virtual backdrops perfect for your Christmas card or however else you want to use them. It can be hit and miss with the photographers here, but it's still worth a try. Disney Snow falling and Holiday Entertainment (Free)The magic of snow falling on Walt Disney World does just happen in the parks. As sundown nears, head to the the Town Center tree and keep your eyes on the skies for a little holiday magic. Plus, watch for holiday-themed stilt walkers, rollerblading snowflakes, a Santa Sleigh DJ, and more surprises bringing a festive ambiance throughout all of Disney Springs.Christmas Holidays Means Festive Food and DrinkThere are over 60 places at Disney Springs to eat and drink, including Jock Lindsey's Holiday Bar, which is all spruced up for the holidays. So be sure to grab some cheer while visiting Disney Springs!Christmas Shopping at Disney SpringsWhether you need a gift someone on your list or something special for yourself, you'll find it all at Disney Springs. You can browse for almost anything here, so leave yourself time if Christmas shopping is on your checklist.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, Amelia and I hope that you enjoyed it. Welcome to Renegade Files Episode 20, The Forbidden History of Giants.Human history is decorated with tales, including Folklore and reputed fact, which speak of Giants: huge beings with great strength, both friend and foe. The Bible speaks of the Nephilim, or the hybrid offspring of Earthly women and fallen angels, said to be giants of great stature and abilities. Tales from Jack and the Beanstalk to Beowulf cast Giants as larger than life villains who will grind your bones to make their bread. But the world of Giants is not limited to fairy tales alone. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries many archaeological digs turned up massive skeletons of humans or humanoids, some of which reached ten feet tall or more.In addition to the conspicuous absence of essentially all of these discoveries from the public record, the modern internet has allowed independent researchers to conclude something far more sinister may be at work, beyond just an innocent lack of interest. Is it possible that The Smithsonian Institute itself could be engaged in a centuries-old policy to sweep under the rug any evidence that would contradict that most galvanized combination of academic sacred cows: Darwin's Theory of Evolution, and the Superiority of Modern Colonial Western Culture?Put on your cargo pants, Field Shirt, and Fedora, grab your digging gear and passport, meet me for a pre-flight drink at Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar, then fly with me on an adventure to discover The Forbidden History of Giants. Merchandise https://www.bonfire.com/store/renegade-files/Patreon https://www.patreon.com/renegadefilesWebsite http://therenegadefiles.com--------------------------Music: Theme Song: “Steve's Djembe” by Vani, FMA, licensed: Creative Commons CC BY-SA 4.0 License.“Decode Omni” by Stone Calculus, DV8NOW Records, licensed: Creative Commons CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 License.

Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar opened at Disney Springs in September 2015 just prior to the formal renaming of this part of Walt Disney World from Downtown Disney. This Indiana Jones themed bar is the only one of its kind in the world, and it's loaded with Easter eggs from Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom, The Last Crusade, and even Indiana Jones Adventure. The backstory of this restaurant focuses around Indy's friend and pilot, Jock Lindsey, who was featured in the first Indiana Jones film. Whether you visit this dining location for the food, drinks, or atmosphere, it's worth putting on your checklist for a future Disney vacation. In this podcast episode, I chat with Theron Skees, the lead Imagineer for Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar and Disney Sprigs, about this part of Walt Disney World (live on location). We discuss the location's backstory and many details, plus the food and connection to the rest of Disney Springs. Be sure to learn more about Theron and follow him online by visiting his website. News: There have been some changes to the ticket purchase and reservation system for Disneyland. You can now purchase tickets and immediately make a reservation as part of the same process. Reservations can always be cancelled and re-booked for another day if you are trying to buy further out than the reservation calendar allows. – https://www.micechat.com/291137-disneyland-update-part-2-new-adventures-arriving-soon/ The Disney Parks Blog released a Foodie Guide to the Avengers Campus that will be open in just a couple of weeks! Pym’s Test Kitchen will offer up some larger than life, as well as tony options including breakfast, snacks, and specials. At the Pym Testing Lab, guests can get some craft beers, which, if they are on tap, will fill from the bottom of the glass. At Shawarma Palace, there are a couple of wraps, including a plant based falafawl and cauliflower wrap. Terran Treats features a Cosmic Cream Orb, which is a crispy cream puff filled with whipped raspberry cheesecake mousse, and a Sweet Spiral Ration, which is a churro spiral with unique flavors. At these locations, guest can take home souvenirs like the Iron Man Infinity Gauntlet for carrying your bottled coke, or Glowing Pym Particle Capsule and Particle Disk, and more! – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/05/foodie-guide-to-avengers-campus-at-disneyland-resort/ The pricing of the items in the Pym Test Kitchen range from $10.49 for the pretzel, all the way up to – get this – $99.99 for the Quantum Sized Pym-ini Sandwich. This item is listed twice on the menu, once at $57.99, so we aren’t sure what is going on here. It is possible that this sandwich is available in two sizes, with enough to feed the whole family. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/05/18/socan-someone-explain-disneys-new-100-sandwich/ Legacy Passholders can now grab some food at the exclusive Alfresco Dining Terrace. Some of the notable items on this new menu include a Screamin’ Cauliflower Ceviche, Slider Invasion, and Mulhollad Meatballs. Some of the signature cocktails include the Pizza Oom Mow Wow!, which is basically a pizza bloody mary, the Drop In… If You Dare, which has gin, elder flower liqueur, fresh lemon huice, and maraschino cherry mix. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/05/15/pizza-bloody-mary-check-out-the-new-menu-for-alfresco-tasting-terrace-at-disney-california-adventure/ The Paradise Garden Grill has reopened and is offering favorites from the Touch of Disney event. Pizza Eggrolls, Asian-Style Barbacoa Tacos, and more. A reminder that this location is primarily mobile order at the moment. – https://www.micechat.com/291137-disneyland-update-part-2-new-adventures-arriving-soon/ Fans of the Tropical Hideaway will rejoice at the news that the menu has been expanded to include some of their previous items. The Bao buns are back, along with the Sweet Lumpia, and the PB&J Mochi. – https://www.micechat.com/291137-disneyland-update-part-2-new-adventures-arriving-soon/ The Walt Disney Company held their quarterly shareholders meeting last week, and updated everyone on how the company was doing. Performance for the company has increased 32% over the last quarter, but is still hindered by capacity limitations, and Disney Cruise Line being closed. Disney+ has 104 million paid subscribers. Bob Chapek also made the comment that instead od a “new passholder program,” they will have a loyalty/affinity program instead. – https://www.micechat.com/291137-disneyland-update-part-2-new-adventures-arriving-soon/ Last week, Walt Disney World ended its mask requirement for vaccinated guests in outdoor areas of the parks in Florida. Masks are still required indoors, and while on all attractions. This is probably a sign of things to come for Disneyland, and an important piece of information to know. The mask mandate, along with the blueprint for reopening will expire in California on Jule 15th, and Disneyland is expected to change it’s mask policy to the one in Disney World. Keep this in mind when booking your trips to the Happiest Place on Earth if this makes you uncomfortable, or you have young ones who cannot be vaccinated yet. – https://www.micechat.com/291137-disneyland-update-part-2-new-adventures-arriving-soon/ There are quite a few of you out there who will be endlessly excited about this news. A new legacy lightsaber has arrived in Galaxy’s Edge. The Darksaber, made famous by the Mandalorian and Star Wars: The Clone Wars can be yours for $199.99. Those interested in wielding this saber should act fast, as supplies are limited until later in the summer. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/05/photos-video-new-legacy-lightsaber-the-darksaber-from-the-mandalorian-arrives-at-star-wars-galaxys-edge-in-disneys-hollywood-studios-and-disneyland/ Some of the screens that were installed for the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to inform guests of boarding times and access to the land have been repurposed. Some of the screens are being used to show PhotoPass photos from nearby attractions. The photos can then be linked to your Disneyland App and purchased. – https://www.micechat.com/290819-disneyland-update-less-is-more-more-or-less/ As part of the DisneylandForward expansion plan, Disneyland has teased an Indiana Jones themed bar. During a recent webinar, Disneyland proposed that one of the establishments that could come with the expansion would be Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar, which is already in Disney Springs in Florida. For those who haven’t seen the Indiana Jones movies in a while, Jock Lindsey is Indiana’s pilot in “Raiders of the Lost Ark.” – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/05/14/disneyland-teases-indiana-jones-themed-bar-for-expansion-project/ and https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/05/jock-lindseys-hangar-bar-included-in-proposed-disneylandforward-entertainment-destination/ A fun way to watch the next Disney live action movie is available from the El Capitan Theatre. For $70, plus tax, they will ship you a limited edition Cruella pin, a “Hello Cruel Heart” book, a reusable bag, a randomly selected Cruella journal, a credential with lanyard, a Zebra Popcornopolis Mini Cone, and a bag of Red Vines licorice. There are also some limited edition pins that can be ordered separately. To order this gift pack, visit the link in our show notes. – https://www.laughingplace.com/w/news/2021/05/17/el-capitan-theatre-has-a-cruella-at-home-premiere-pack-you-can-order-now/ Disney+ has taken over the exterior of the former ESPN Zone in Downtown Disney. Photos have been installed all around the building to promote Disney+ shows, and to be a great photo op. Shows include The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, Big Shot, Star Wars: The Bad Batch, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, Cruella, and more. The art and photo ops will change throughout the year, so be sure to check this location often for updates. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/05/disney-favorites-decorate-downtown-disney-district-at-disneyland-resort/ The World of Color lagoon has seen better days. It seems that the closure of the parks has lead to deterioration of some of the buildings on the lagoon that house some of the projection equipment. The old buildings have been dismantled and are being rebuilt, exposing the rusted interior. No word on when World of Color will be returning, but it needs some TLC before then. – https://www.micechat.com/291137-disneyland-update-part-2-new-adventures-arriving-soon/ Next time you are using one of the outdoor portable sinks that have been setup, take a look at the theming. Care has been taken to theme the hand washing stations around the park to help them fit into the story of the area. – https://www.micechat.com/291137-disneyland-update-part-2-new-adventures-arriving-soon/ Discussion Topic: Weeklyteers Kris and Sami on returning to Disneyland
