Most creatives assume that getting ghosted means the client wasn't really interested - which feels especially confusing when they sounded so enthusiastic on your call...So what happened between your delivery and their decision to leave you hanging? It's easy to convince yourself that they were just being polite on your call - that they didn't really like your work or your pricing or your personality, and now they're dreading handing you your rejection. But what's far more likely to be going on?They hit one of the 6 roadblocks that cause clients to ghost - roadblocks that have nothing to do with your talent and everything to do with how you guide the deal.In this episode, we break down the 6 most common reasons clients vanish after an inquiry - and how to flip the script into 6 strategies that close the deal instead. We'll cover how to:Get all decision-makers on the callCreate urgency without being pushyRemove friction from the booking processHandle unspoken objections with confidenceSet clear timelines instead of waiting in limboKnow when it's time to drop it and move onGhosting isn't random, it's predictable - which is great news for you. I would very like to get a review from you. Please send a note to me. Thanks, Peter! like to much appreciate a review from you!! Thank you!The growing economic power of the Hispanic community in America presents an unprecedented opportunity for savvy PR professionals. When Susana Mendoza joined the Public Relations Review Podcast, with host Peter Woolfolk, she illuminated why reaching this vital demographic isn't just smart business—it's essential strategy."Right now, Latinos make up about 65 million people, approximately 19% of the overall population," Mendoza explains, before revealing the projection that truly demands attention: by 2050, the Hispanic population will reach 100 million. With the annual US Latino GDP hitting a staggering $4.1 trillion in 2023—growing faster than China and India—this represents a market segment too powerful to ignore.Yet many PR agencies still treat Hispanic outreach as an afterthought or special add-on rather than a fundamental component of comprehensive campaigns. Mendoza challenges this approach, advocating for intentional inclusion that recognizes the nuances within Hispanic communities. "The mistake that PR companies make when dealing with Hispanics is thinking they're a monolith," she cautions, noting that cultural differences between Hispanic communities in different regions require tailored approaches. The conversation delivers practical insights on navigating Spanish-language media landscapes, creating family-centered events that resonate with Latino audiences, and building authentic partnerships with Hispanic community organizations. Perhaps most valuable is Mendoza's insider perspective on the current state of Spanish-language newsrooms, which face even greater staffing shortages than their English counterparts. Her advice on providing ready-to-use content and maintaining direct relationships with journalists offers PR professionals a roadmap for successful media placement.Whether you're looking to expand your PR agency's service offerings or seeking to connect with the Hispanic market for your organization, this episode provides the cultural context and strategic framework for meaningful engagement. In today's episode, I had the pleasure of speaking with Kate Merryweather. Kate is a LinkedIn coach, and if you're an executive coach who wants to attract leads without being annoying or salesy—this one's for you. We talk about how Kate went from being behind the scenes as a copywriter to fully booked within a few months of posting regularly on LinkedIn. Her clients started asking, “What exactly are you doing on LinkedIn?” and how that question led her to create a whole new business and identity as a LinkedIn coach. We also chat about what's working right now on LinkedIn—posting frequency, selfies, warm DMs vs spammy ones, and why connection requests don't need a message anymore. Kate explains how to use personality and “essence of you” in your content, and gives a simple, practical framework to come up with a month's worth of posts. In this episode, we cover: ✅ Why LinkedIn is the place to be—“because that's where the money is”✅ How to attract leads without cold outreach or spammy messages✅ Building likability and trust through content✅ The difference between warm DMs and annoying ones✅ How to brainstorm post ideas using “I don't know,” “I want,” and “I'm afraid”✅ Why selfies can boost your reach (even if you feel scruffy)✅ Posting tips—how often, what kind of content, and when to sprint✅ Whether to bother with hashtags, notes in connection requests, or links in posts ✅ Kate's favourite offer: the Show Up School membership Kate also shares her approach to experimenting on LinkedIn (like posting twice a day!) and how she helps people show up with confidence, even if they're feeling scruffy and a bit over it. Last week I sat down with Rock Paper Coin for a conversation about pricing. We covered a range of topics, including how to talk about budget with potential clients. It reminded me how hard it can be to talk about the topic of money - from both sides of the conversation: couples and vendors. Money matters are hard for most people. So today I thought it would be a good idea to bring back this oldie, but goodie from the podcast way back in 2021.Originally episode 12, this podcast is the one I refer 1:1 clients to more than any other for “homework” after our session if we talk about about discovery calls.Confidence is often about competence. Competence is knowing what you're doing. Take the next 20 minutes to get the skills you need to talk about budget with potential clients.

Today, we are learning from Marsha Shandur. Marsha, of Yes Yes Marsha, believes that Storytelling is the key to instant connection, clear, effective communication, and changing the world for the better. A Storytelling and Persuasive Communication Coach and Trainer, she has taught thousands of executives, entrepreneurs and professionals across the world. Before launching her business, she spent 15 years working as a Radio DJ and Music Supervisor for hit TV shows and films, where she gained a powerful understanding of how to communicate in a way that creates connection, trust, engagement and loyalty. Let's get started... In this conversation with Marsha Shandur, I learned: 00:00 Intro 02:45 Should Canada become a part of the USA? 04:00 All borders should be open to everyone. 04:40 From telling a story on stage, to coaching the storytellers for the next events. 06:20 The storytelling history in her family. 08:25 Ethically persuasive storytelling. 13:15 The internal monologue of potential clients for service providers. 14:35 As a service provider you don't want people that you can't help. 17:20 As an entrepreneur finding the balance between doing good work and paying rent. 19:45 True Stories Toronto falls in that bucket of free and is considered more like art. 21:35 The origin story of True Stories Toronto. 23:25 How storytelling and connection can give you hope in turbulent times. 24:50 Lack of empathy and shame are the roots of most evil in the world. 26:05 Building a relationship with people. 50% of the sales happen in the follow-up, and 80% of the people only follow up once. 27:20 When you are telling a story, you are making a movie inside your listener's brain. What did it look like? How did you feel? 30:05 The chemical effects of storytelling in your brain. 30:30 A story example of how to sell something technical. 32:05 Where do you find stories to share? 36:25 Using storytelling in videos on LinkedIn vs TikTok. 40:35 Done is better than perfect. 42:35 Bigger quality will also bring more quality people. 46:10 Learning how to be confident on camera. 47:40 Niching is important to attract the people that really want to work with you, and video is really helpful for niching. 48:50 The marketing trick that works, even when you know and recognize the techniques. 52:05 A rising tide lifts all boats. 52:55 One of the badass things you can do in sales is to promote someone else. 55:25 If masterminds were a standard in every industry, the world would be a different place. 58:50 It's not the job of your partner or friends to know everything about your business. In This Episode: [00:49] We're going to be talking about how to set boundaries in sales conversations, how to redirect and refocus potential clients. [01:15] When I give language suggestions it doesn't mean it's the only way. It's just to help spur your ideas. [02:15] What's the ultimate goal? Are boundaries being crossed? Are we focusing on the heart of the matter and making an impact? [03:18] Have you ever questioned why someone hasn't taken your free advice? Could it be because they didn't pay for it? [04:01] When people pay, they pay attention. Allow these people to become paying clients. [05:01] One thing I implemented was 15 minute Spotlight Coaching conversations to allow people to be paying clients on a small scale. [06:59] Learn language to set boundaries when you feel like you're being taken advantage of or you know that if the client pays there will be more impact. [08:03] "I'd love to make sure that we have time to dive into what we had planned to go through today." Then redirect the conversation. [09:40] Story can be a huge time suck. [12:00] "That sounds like a really interesting story, but let's shift gears because we do have a limited amount of time today and talk about how we might work together to reach our goals." [13:01] The importance of having a pre-frame for the call. "It's been so great learning about you now let's jump into what we talked about earlier." [14:17] It's really about setting boundaries. You can change your language depending on how you know the person. [15:18] "I love our chats, but because we have to talk about our business, maybe we can set up another time to catch up." Keep your boundaries clear. [16:52] Say everything in a really kind way. Be patient and let the person transition. [17:27] Use selective amnesia and move on in the conversation. In this episode of the Maximum Lawyer Podcast, hosts Jim Hacking and Tyson Mutrux discuss the importance of using empathy to effectively communicate with clients.Practicing voice inflection and empathy are skills that can help when working and connecting with clients. This is more so when speaking with potential clients and it can really seal the deal on getting people to trust you to take on their case. As Christians, at times, we are timid in declaring why our business is great for the job to potential clients. We do this because of a false sense of humility. We don't want to sound as though we are bragging or come off as prideful. However, when you have the opportunity to pitch your business (or yourself) to a client, don't hold back. Boldly present your credentials and how you will solve the client's problems. If Jesus was bold to declare that He was the way to salvation, we should boldly declare that our business is the way to solve a client's problems.
