On Thursday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order directing the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) and all executive departments to end federal funding for National Public Radio (NPR) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS). The order claims that the outlets fail to offer “a fair, accurate, or unbiased portrayal of current events to taxpaying citizens” and instructs the CPB to “cancel existing direct funding to the maximum extent allowed by law” and “decline to provide future funding.” Executives at NPR and PBS called the order unlawful and said they would challenge it. In this episode, Eric sits down with civil rights activist and award-winning journalist Charlayne Hunter-Gault. They discuss her childhood - from being born  in South Carolina during segregation, moving frequently as her father was an army chaplain but spending most of her time in Atlanta. Her early education and the values that were instilled in her at a young age that lent to inspiring her to have high aspirations, self-belief and providing “armor” to shield her throughout her life… and how she gravitated to and was inspired to become a journalist. They discuss the Brown v. Board of Education landmark decision of the U.S. Supreme Court, how Hunter, along with Hamilton Holmes were the two students selected by a committee to integrate white universities in Atlanta… A successful legal challenge that culminated in her admission to the University of Georgia in January 1961—making her one of the first two Black students to integrate the institution. Her illustrious career in journalism, from beginning at the New Yorker magazine, to joining The New York Times  as a metropolitan reporter specializing in coverage of the urban black community, becoming a foreign correspondent for National Public Radio, CNN and the Public Broadcasting…  She reflects on covering Apartheid in South Africa and interviewing nelson Nelson Mandela! Hunter-Gault gained a national audience after she joined the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) news program MacNeil/Lehrer Report in 1978. When the program grew into the 60-minute MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour in 1983, she became its national correspondent and reported on topics that included racism, Vietnam veterans, life under apartheid, drug abuse, and human rights issues. In 1997 Hunter-Gault left PBS to become the Africa bureau chief for National Public Radio (NPR), and in 1999 she was named Johannesburg bureau chief for the Cable News Network (CNN), a post she held until 2005. She published a memoir, In My Place (1992), and New News Out of Africa (2006), a book documenting positive developments in Africa. For 12 years, Tom Wheeler served as president and CEO of the Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association (CTIA). Presidents Clinton and Bush each appointed him a Trustee of the John F. Robert Kiyosaki is truly a multi-talented personality. He is an entrepreneur, investor, motivational speaker, author and also a financial knowledge activist. He is very popular for his series of books called ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad'. Kiyosaki is a Japanese American who was born in Hilo, Hawaii. He went to the U.S Merchant Marine Academy soon after graduating from Hilo High School. He graduated from the academy as a deck officer in 1969 and was honored with the Air Medal when he served in the Vietnam War as a gunship pilot. In 1975 Kiyosaki left the Marine Corps and worked as a Xerox machine salesperson. Three years later he started his own company that sold Velcro surfer wallets. The company did well for some time but unfortunately went bankrupt. In the beginning of the 1980s Kiyosaki tried his luck in a business that certified Heavy metal rock band T-shirts. He sold this business in 1985. Nearly a decade later after struggling to achieve success Kiyosaki decided to retire at the age of 47. However he rose once again in 1997 when he established Cashflow Technologies, Inc. This company incorporates and runs two of his brands namely, Rich Dad and Cashflow. Apart from running Rich Dad and Cashflow Technologies Inc. Kiyosaki has also invested in several other business ventures. In 2002 he purchased a silver mine in South America and took a gold mine public in China. In his book ‘Conspiracy of the Rich' he has mentioned that he intends to take a copper mine public as soon as the copper price and value will increase. Even as a teenager Robert Kiyosaki worked with gold and silver coins. He has a theory that with a few dollars you can buy precious metal coins and that will actually get you ready for the ‘biggest crashes in world history'. He calls himself a ‘gold bug' because he has several commodities like silver and gold so he can save himself from any losses against the misprinting of the U.S dollar. Kiyosaki is also a real estate investor. He spends a lot of his money on these investments and has many real estate development ventures. He has various property management projects running throughout America. His assets include big apartment complexes, hotels and golf courses as he revealed in The Alex Jones Show in 2010. He is also the head and investor of oil drilling operations as well as oil wells and even a startup solar company. However he suffered a loss with his company Rich Global LLC that announced bankruptcy in August 2012. His book series ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad' is an international bestseller. Transcript: 2020 was quite the year; we are approximately one day away from President-Elect Joe Biden's inauguration. However, this inauguration is like none the United States has seen before; it is shrouded in mystery and secrecy. It is also going to be one of the most hypocritical inaugurations the United States has ever seen. From 8 Foot high Un-Scaleable fences surrounding this great nation's capital to barbed wire to indirect threat to shoot and kill any protestors who may try to breach the perimeter, this inauguration seemly goes against everything democrats have preached during the BLM riots. But why, why are there more soldiers quartered in the United States capitol than there are in Iraq? For those of you who have been living under a rock, allow me to bring you up to speed; on January 6th, 2020, President Trump gave a speech in which he implored his supporters to protest the election results peacefully. However, once the march on the capitol had begun, Alt-Right and Alt-Left Instigators, both equally at fault, began to riot. Keep in mind this is all happening during the certification of votes; what the rioter thought they could accomplish by storming the capitol, I don't know, but I know that one officer was killed in these riots. To be clear, this is despicable. I expect all of those responsible both directly and indirectly for being put up against a wall and shot. But this pales compared to the Black Lives Matter Riots, which saw over 19 people killed, most of which were killed not by police officers but by rioters. This was civilian on civilian violence. Yet the response from liberal politicians was that the over militarization and national guard response were racist, exacerbated the situation, and was the riots' sole cause. However, their tone has changed, with over 25,000 troops in the United States capitol, the Liberal Media seems to believe, or at least they want you to believe this is necessary because clearly, the rioters were super dangerous. But wouldn't the military response "Exacerbate" the situation. Violence, no matter which side of the aisle it comes from, is violence, but the liberal media portrays that violence is sometimes the answer, but only if it furthers the democrat's party's goals. But violence isn't the topic of this podcast. Hypocrisy is. The same double standard that was applied to Donald Trump and so many Conservative politicians, including Texas Rep Louie Gohmert, who literally quoted verbatim what Nancy Pelosi had said previous, which was "I don't know why they aren't more uprisings all over the country." is being applied now with the inauguration. But let us look further into the Democrat party and their thoughts on what should happen after the new regime is inaugurated. An attorney for Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) resigned after a Project Veritas video showed the man expressing support for re-education camps for the children of President Donald Trump's supporters. Yes, you heard that right; they want to put people's kids into concentration camps because of their beliefs. Crazy how "Kids in Cages" aged so well since its inception under the Obama-Biden Administration, an administration in which we still don't know the president's last name, like what's Obama's last name? Jokes aside, though, this is a serious matter that our leaders, Joe Biden included, need to address. If not discussed, we may be looking at a full-blown civil war, and I don't say that lightly, but if Americans stop trusting their institutions, they will overthrow them. That's a fact that applies to every country in the world. So it's time democrats start believing in their message of unity because America is nothing without the consent of the Populus. When a group of progressive intellectuals, artists, and activists decided to focus on disadvantaged children, a children’s television revolution began. Driven by their agenda was to “do good,” this group also believed “the federal government could and should play a major role in early-childhood initiatives.” Fortunately, political winds blew in their sails, providing both funding and enthusiasm for a plethora of children’s television educational programming in the 60s and 70s. Ross W. Greene is an American clinical child psychologist and New Your Times Best selling author of the books The Explosive Child, Lost at School, Lost & Found, and Raising Human Beings. Greene developed the model of intervention called Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS). He has a Ph.D. in clinical psychology. Greene is founding director of the non-profit Lives in the Balance, and developed and executive produced the documentary film, The Kids We Lose. Tom Wheeler: Gutenberg, Google, Darwin & Beyond (Ep. 177) Tom Wheeler joined Joe Miller to discuss Mr. Wheeler's new book 'From Gutenberg to Google: The History of Our Future'.   Bio Chairman Tom Wheeler is a visiting fellow in Governance Studies at Brookings. Wheeler is a businessman, author, and was Chairman of the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) from 2013 to 2017. For over four decades, Wheeler has been involved with new telecommunications networks and services. At the FCC he led the efforts that resulted in the adoption of Net Neutrality, privacy protections for consumers, and increased cybersecurity, among other policies. His chairmanship has been described as, “The most productive Commission in the history of the agency.” During the Obama-Biden Transition of 2008/09 Mr. Wheeler led activities overseeing the agencies of government dealing with science, technology, space and the arts. As an entrepreneur, he started or helped start multiple companies offering innovative cable, wireless and video communications services. He is the only person to be selected to both the Cable Television Hall of Fame and the Wireless Hall of Fame, a fact President Obama joked made him “the Bo Jackson of telecom.” Prior to being appointed Chairman of the FCC by President Obama, Wheeler was Managing Director at Core Capital Partners, a venture capital firm investing in early stage Internet Protocol (IP)-based companies. He is CEO of the Shiloh Group, a strategy development and private investment company specializing in telecommunications services. The plan calls for potentially breaking up some mergers as well as new legislation. Senator Warren wants to break up Doubleclick and Google, Facebook and its subsidiaries Instagram and Whats App, and the Amazon/Whole Foods merger. Politico reported Monday that Facebook removed ads that Elizabeth Warren placed on the social network which criticized Facebook and called for its breakup. Facebook backtracked after its attempt to silence Warren backfired. Democrats announce net neutrality bill Nancy Pelosi, on behalf of Democrats, introduced a new net neutrality bill last week. The bill is two pages long and would simply reinstate the 2015 Open Internet rules. The bill’s likely to pass the House where Ds hold the majority, but it faces a more uncertain future in the Senate and getting it over the presidents desk. Trump details plan for government-owned 5G Trump’s reelection campaign is proposing a plan that would give the government control of the nation’s 5G airwaves, allowing it to lease them out to carriers on a wholesale basis. Most carriers think the plan’s unworkable. But the plan is seen as an attempt to attract rural voters with spotty internet service. Huawei sues the U.S. Chinese device manufacturer Huawei, which the U.S. government has accused of spying and violating sanctions against Iran, has now sued the U.S. government for banning the company from doing business in the U.S.  The company filed in a U.S. District Court in Plano, Texas, where the company has its U.S. headquarters. TMobile spent $195k at Trump hotel TMobile’s expenditures at Trump’s DC hotel rose sharply after the company reported that it would be seeking to acquire Sprint. Since April of last year, when the merger was announced, TMobile has spent $195,000 at the hotel. But before the merger announcement, the company said that only two employees had stayed there. The FCC paused its review of the merger last week. This is the third time the FCC has paused the 180-day shot clock, which is now on day 122. The merger review has been going on for 8 months. It’s not clear why it was paused this time. But the hotel expenditures may have had something to do with it—especially since the White House actually approved the deal. A ‘Greenbook’ for bigots Finally, The Hill reported on Monday on a new app that launched which gives users a listing of MAGA-friendly establishments—places where they’re least likely to be made fun of or harassed for wearing their red MAGA hats, or that let them carry legally-concealed weapons … check it out it’s called 63Red—great way to figure out where not to go other than Cracker Barrel. Ken Ehrlich is a master of music media and his brilliant 50 year career was honored recently by the Scripps College of Communication with this year’s Hall of Fame Award. He graduated in 1964 with a degree in Journalism. He met his wife while a student at Ohio University while he was playing cocktail piano at a local tavern on Court Street called the Lantern. After working in Chicago during his early career, he started producing the national Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) music series SOUNDSTAGE. Ehrlich then moved to Los Angeles and for 38 years he has produced over 1,000 hours of award winning television events including 36 straight Grammy Awards shows and 7 Emmy Broadcasts. During the Emmy’s, Ehrlich is known for combining musical stars and acts who have never performed together before. He prides himself in creating these unique musical combinations and he tells WOUB’s Tom Hodson about how he goes about doing that. In addition to awards programs, he spent two years as the Supervising Producer of the television dramatic series FAME. Ehrlich also has produced single artist television specials for Paul McCartney, Elton John, Garth Brook, The Eagles, Michael Jackson, Shania Twain, Stevie Wonder, the Rolling Stones and Celine Dion. In 2011, he directed Celine Dion’s long running Las Vegas Show. He created the Blockbuster Video Awards and the MTV Movie Awards and the VH1 Divas shows. He also produced several Alma and Latin Grammy Awards Shows. His company, AEG Ehrlich Ventures LLC has produced the popular PBS In Performance At the White House. In 2014, he produced the Grammys on one day and then 24 hours later did a 2.5 hour special for CBS celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Beetles’ first performance on the Ed Sullivan Show. This past December, he produced a 2 hour special celebrating the 100th birthday of Frank Sinatra. Throughout his career he also has had a social conscience. He created an HBO special in 1988 paying tribute to Vietnam Vets; he created an epic celebration when Nelson Mandela was released from prison and he helped raise money for Hurricane Katrina victims. He also has donated his time and his immense skills to charitable and political causes that are “dear to his heart.”

Kevin Clark, Ph.D. is a Professor in the Division of Learning Technologies, and Founding Director of the Center for Digital Media Innovation and Diversity in the College of Education and Human Development at George Mason University. Kevin Clark is a full professor in the Learning Technologies Division of the College of Education and Human Development at George Mason University. His research interests include the role of interactive and digital media in education; issues of diversity in educational media; and broadening participation in STEM careers and disciplines. In addition to his scholarly activities, Dr. Clark has more than 20 years experience as a designer, advisor, and consultant to organizations such as:  National Park Service, Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), Common Sense Media, Fred Rogers Center, Disney Junior, Jim Henson Company, and DHX Media.    Because of his work, Dr. Clark has also been honored by the White House as a STEM Access Champion of Change. and selected as a Fellow for theTelevision Academy Foundation Faculty Seminar. Dr. Clark holds both a B.S. and M.S. in computer science from North Carolina State University and a Ph.D. in Instructional Systems from Pennsylvania State University. He is a former futurist for a Pentagon-consulted think tank, where he developed scenarios for exotic kinds of warfare and high-tech terrorism.     Ponte, who holds the equivalent of a master's degree in international relations and a Ph.D. in English, also is founder and President of several organizations, including the Jefferson's Birthday Committee dedicated to making Thomas Jefferson's April 13 birthday a “National Holiday for Taxpayers.”     He and his wife, Ellen, a screenwriter and veteran script analyst for several major Hollywood studios, live at the beach in Southern California.
