I was thrilled to learn of a study by Rachel Fox, Kelly Park, Rowan Hildebrand-Chupp, and Anne T. Vo called “Working toward eradicating weight stigma by combating pathologization: A qualitative pilot study using direct contact and narrative medicine.”The study explains why research that seeks to end weight stigma cannot come from a pathologization of fatness. Thanks to Rachel Fox for reviewing my draft prior to publication! Get full access to Weight and Healthcare at weightandhealthcare.substack.com/subscribe

In this episode, Rachel Fox discusses effective sales strategies for startups that have limited budgets. The Rachel shares some of her successful techniques that have helped her generate more leads and increase her conversion rates.Key Takeaways: Cold calling is not always the most effective way to generate leads. The speaker prefers cold emailing, which she finds more enjoyable and has seen success with. Social media platforms like LinkedIn can be valuable tools for outreach. The speaker leverages her personal brand to generate excitement around her company, but also utilizes her company's page for content distribution. Using tools like HubSpot to track engagement data can help prioritize leads and make the most of limited time and resources. When creating email sequences, the speaker recommends targeting specific industries and personas, and incorporating industry-specific articles and third-party content. Emails should be short and engaging, as most people only read the first few sentences. Rachel shares tips and strategies for mastering the art of sales and highlights the importance of building strong relationships with customers and understanding their needs. This episode is brought to you by Growth Forum - sign up for 30-days free, https://growthforum.circle.so/checkout/subscribeGrowth Forum is a place to Connect, Learn and Grow. My name is Rachel Lynn Fox and I am a PMDD Holistic Hypnotherapist + Coach. Research has shown a link between unresolved pain and trauma and the severity of PMDD symptoms. After personally experiencing profound healing from PMDD, I became trained and certified in the same therapy that saved me. My work is all about healing at a subconscious level so that negative beliefs are reframed and therefore no longer triggered when the hormones shift. I use a therapy model RTT, Rapid Transformational Therapy, which uses a combination of hypnotherapy, CBT and neuroscience alongside coaching and menstrual cycle awareness, which creates the deep lasting change in my clients. It is now my life's work to help bring awareness to PMDD and that there is healing and hope. Welcome to the sixth episode in this Friday series and this week I give my reaction to Elisabeth's episode which made me feel terrible at not speaking another language. Elisabeth can speak six and I reflect heavy on this for myself. I also talk about how to make a plan to travel and putting something in place so you can leave. Another bit of reflection, I stress the need for people develop a skill and job for the laptop so it can prolong the traveling side of your life. I wish I could work on the road! For the rest of this year, I am going to get some YouTube content created which I explain in some detail. With a potentially reunion with Mikey Butlin in Mexico later this who I traveled with for six months in 2013, I talk about how we planned our trip, the rough itinerary and my 22 month trip. I finish with the bombshell that Rachel Fox is returning for another episode, watch this space! This podcast gets a glimpse behind the scenes of a woman whose alter ego is Claudia – ‘Organising Claudia' in fact, and the name she also gave the company. Rachel Fox aka Organising Claudia chats about why she did this, why she hates ‘wasting time', how she became a torch bearer for the London Olympics and explains why her Grandmother says; ‘Rachel is ready to kick you up the arse when you need it'. This is a wonderful insight into the real world of a start-up; the challenges, dedication and instinct that Rachel's utilised to launch her own business. Honest, open and fun, I defy you after listening not to head straight to Organising Claudia and get Rachel to sort you out.

About the Show: One of the things that I enjoy about doing the I am Northwest Arkansas podcast is all of the really cool people that I get to meet here in NWA and beyond. In this episode, we sit down with NWA Girl Gang founder Rachel Fox to discuss her time here in Northwest Arkansas and why a little serendipity never hurts when it comes to building relationships and being intentional about getting out, meeting new people and making friends. Rachel is great at doing all of those things and in less than 12 months she has quietly made a name for herself and more importantly the NWA Girl Gang movement. NWA Girl Gang promotes empowerment, awareness, and diversity for women. She has teamed up with a lot of other local organizations and influencers to spread the word. Rachel Fox gives a talk for the workshop, What is a Decolonial Curriculum? Held at TORCH on 28th November 2018. Decolonising the curriculum must mean more than simply including diverse texts. As Dalia Gebrial, one of the editors of the new book, Decolonising the University (Pluto Press, 2018) has written, any student and academic-led decolonisation movement must not only 'rigorously understand and define its terms, but locate the university as just one node in a network of spaces where this kind of struggle must be engaged with. To do this...is to enter the university space as a transformative force.

*Special thanks to Steve Little, and as always Rachel Fox for lending their voices to this project. Our memory is collective. The only reason we know more than the previous generations isn't that we have genetically superior brains (in fact, research shows the opposite), it's because the previous generations left us their CliffNotes, from building cars to curing diseases. Without these notes, we'd know less than they did. If you put us and someone from a thousand years ago on an island, we'd die immediately whereas they'd have a shot at survival. Because we don't actually know more than them, we just have more access to information than them. We live in houses, yes. But who between us and our ancestors would actually know how to build shelter offhand? Without access to information, we're nothing. And now we take this access to information for granted. If history teaches us about the mistakes of the past, then it also teaches us, for most of human history, the average person had no freedom. We were either slaves or serfs. If the fear of not studying history is the doom of repeating it, then it's not so inconceivable that we can return to a time when the common person had no freedom. Because that's the historical status quo. The humanities and the arts are the life manuals that took us thousands of years to create, that teach us how NOT to go back to a time when we had no humanities—when we had no freedom. When we couldn't even conceive it. But if we ignore these manuals, then we'll return to the time of our ancestors...
