In Shakespeare's plays, there are over 150 references to the word "hair" across which Shakespeare talks about a barber fixing someone's hair, about hair being dyed, about losing your hair being a natural product of old age, combing your hair, and even the weight of someone's hair. Clearly, there was a significant cultural focus on the care and maintenance of one's carefully selected coif. But exactly what did it look like for someone to care for their hair? Was there such a thing as soap, or dare we guess—Shampoo—that might have been used to keep your hair clean in the Tudor period? To find out more about what one would use in the 16-17th century if you decided to wash your hair, we are meeting with our guest, Julia Martins. Julia is here this week to tell us all about products used to cleanse, care, and manage a head full of hair in Shakespeare's lifetime, as well as the manuals and advice that was given in the 16-17th century for the best hair care methods of the Elizabethan era.
Our resident cat owners Trey and Clara discussed the white space for luxury pet care with Alexandra Pauly. She's the founder of Biche: a pet grooming brand bringing beauty industry standards to the category. Graza and Fishwife) plus the ins and outs of developing a dog shampoo, DINKWADs, and the sorry state of dog etiquette in New York. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Imagine that you have just received a text message from your closest friend who lives in a distant country. In the message, they write "Great News! I am planning to travel to Australia to stay with you. I will arrive soon. PS. I cannot be contacted until I see you face to face". Great news indeed! You immediately set your mind to the tasks required to prepare for their arrival. Shampoo the carpet, vacuum the curtains, buy new (living) indoor plants, stock the pantry with Vegemite, etc. At some point, as you write your preparatory list, you ask yourself one very helpful piece of information. Can you guess what it is? When did they say they were going to arrive? What day? What hour? Without this knowledge, your task of preparation must change. But into what? The Church in Thessalonica hope in the return of Christ. It is something that has kept them afloat during the storm of persecution they have weathered. But they have questions and worries. The first question was addressed last week: "What happens to believers who die before Christ returns?" The second question is… "Will we be prepared for the day of the Lord?" This question becomes especially important when Paul's first words say that we will not know what day or hour the Lord will return. Join us on Sunday morning to find out how Paul instructs the Thessalonian Church, and us, as we wait for the glorious day of our Lord's return.

This is the Dr. Mary Travelbest Guide Podcast, Part 2 of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil The FAQ is: How to carry toiletries on a long trip? Answer: For traveling solo, especially on longer journeys, toiletries can quietly become the heaviest, messiest, and most annoying part of your bag. I use cubes, just packing cubes like for my other travel items. So before you toss everything into a pouch, ask yourself: Do I really need this much? Will this leak at 35,000 feet? Can I replace it at my destination? Here are four smart, confidence-building tips for carrying toiletries on a long trip: Travel-size everything sounds sensible — until you realize tiny bottles run out quickly on a 3-week trip. Instead: Decant only essentials into quality leakproof silicone bottles Label clearly (shampoo and face wash look identical at 5 AM) Bring just enough for 7–10 days if you can restock abroad Skeptical question to ask yourself: Are you packing for "just in case," or for reality? Most destinations — even smaller cities — sell basic toiletries. Go Solid When Possible Liquids create stress at airport security checkpoints and pose a risk of leaks in warm climates. Smart swaps: Shampoo bars Conditioner bars Bar soap instead of body wash Solid deodorant Benefits: No TSA liquid limits No spills in your suitcase Lighter weight Longer lasting On humid or hot trips like Rio, liquids expand. Solids don't. Organize for Night Arrivals After a long travel day, you don't want to unpack your entire suitcase just to brush your teeth. Use: A hanging toiletry bag Clear compartments One "first-night essentials" pouch (toothbrush, face wash, medications) Many bathrooms are tiny. Hooks help. Counters are rare. A bag that hangs becomes your portable vanity. Respect Skin Changes (Over 50 Matters) Long flights, altitude, new climates — your skin behaves differently now than it did at 30. Welcome to another chaotic episode of the Mark My Words podcast, where the rugby league analysis is decent, but the banter is completely loose. The boys get genuinely heated about the NRL's "six again" rule. Piggy reveals he once lied to coach Brian Smith, blaming a rolled ankle on his dog instead of drunken over-35s touch footy comp. Not to be outdone, MG admits he missed a 1990 game because he threw his back out reaching for conditioner in the shower. MG shares a legendary yarn about how his childhood eye twitch almost got him bashed by a seven-foot biker, and the boys give their fearless tips for round 3. Send me a question or story! In this week's podcast episode, I get to interview Allison Inga, DVM, DACVD who practices at Animal Dermatology Clinic in Robbinsville, NJ. We take a practical, clinician-focused look at the latest guidelines from the International Society of for Companion Animal Infectious Diseases (ISCAID) on the use of topical therapy in managing bacterial skin infections.Topical therapy is no longer just an adjunct — it's a central component of antimicrobial stewardship in dermatology. Some guy got it started by claiming the right order is: Shampoo and rinse . . . wash your face . . . apply conditioner . . . wash your body . . . then rinse the conditioner out
We kicked off today's comedy podcast by tackling the most controversial debate of 2026: are you showering wrong… and have you been doing it wrong your whole life? Shampoo first? Conditioner last? Face in the middle? Teeth in the shower like some kind of chaos goblin? We learned that Moon brushes his teeth in the shower (yes, really), Riz might not understand how museums work, and apparently conditioner can clog your pores and betray you. Then the washcloth debate broke out — and things got weird. Hotels? Loofahs? Southern Illinois traditions? Bleach? Nobody felt clean by the end of it. Especially not emotionally. From there, it's time for Match Up With Moon, and let's just say Riz's self-esteem went on a rollercoaster that OSHA would not approve. We covered everything from The Truman Show to Olympic sports, Montana geography, Ninja Turtles (culture!), Shakespeare pronunciation beef, and whether Riz knows literally anything about the St. Louis Art Museum. (Spoiler: he guessed 317 total works of art. The actual number is 37,000. We are not exaggerating.)Round two? Golf legends, wiener schnitzel drama (veal, apparently — who knew?), and an absolutely brutal Robert Duvall tiebreaker that had the studio sweating like Moon during leg-shaving season. There were pronunciation controversies. There were technicality debates. There were accusations. There was redemption. There was shouting. There was fragile male ego on full display.Basically: peak daily chaos. If you love weird news, pop culture trivia, competitive meltdowns, and a group of grown adults arguing about conditioner residue, this comedy podcast delivered exactly what your morning needed. And yes, we're still not over the shower thing.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Welcome back to your favorite daily comedy show, where we ask the hard-hitting questions like: Are you showering wrong? And more importantly… who gets your stuff when you die?Today's chaos kicks off with a surprisingly heated debate about the “correct” order to shower. Shampoo first? Conditioner last? Face before body? Moon brushes his teeth in the shower like a certified menace. We discuss dermatologists claiming conditioner can clog your pores and give you body acne, and somehow that leads to a philosophical breakdown about loofahs, washcloths, and whether hotels are secretly a biohazard experiment. Then things escalate — as they do on this daily comedy show — into a full-blown discussion about death planning. Green burials. Human composting. Hydro cremation. Viking funerals (Rafe's preference: cannon into the ocean). Lern attended a green burial seminar and now has a death doula on speed dial. She's planning to be tumble-dried with wood chips for 60 days and returned as nutrient-rich soil. We're not kidding. This is real.Rizz and his wife spent the afternoon doing estate planning, which means answering extremely uncomfortable questions like:Who makes medical decisions if you're incapacitated? At what age should your kids get access to money? And how much does an onyx urn weigh? (Answer: more than you think.)Moon shares how his dad's ashes are currently in a stone urn — but may one day be returned to a meaningful river. We also dive into cremation trends, the future “ash epidemic,” and why talking about death might actually be healthier than pretending it's not happening.Oh — and somewhere in the middle of all that?We play Matchup With Moon, argue about The Truman Show, debate the fourth-largest state, and guess how many pieces of art are in the St. Louis Art Museum (spoiler: not 317).It's laughs. It's weird. It's oddly profound. It's exactly what a daily comedy show is supposed to be: hilarious chaos with a side of real life.If you came for funny stories and sarcastic humor, you're in the right place. If you stayed for compost burial logistics… honestly, same.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.St. Charles woman nearly scammed while searching for her missing dog‘Dog years' is just a myth: New research shows non-linear relationship between dog and human yearsDog crashes women's Olympic team sprint race, crosses finish line in chaotic moment‘HIDDEN VALLEY RAAAAANCH': Why Are People Singing About Salad Dressing Online?Grandson of Reese's founder alleges Hershey has switched to cheaper ingredients – sparking family feudFlorida restaurant faces backlash after selling pizzas with iguana meat as toppingJudge says lawsuit over Buffalo Wild Wings boneless wings has "no meat on its bones" Jack in the Box Brings Back Iconic Hot Mess Burger for 75th AnniversarySee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

The final film in director Roger Corman's Edgar Allan Poe cycle, The Tomb of Ligeia marked the second collaboration for Corman and screenwriter Robert Towne. Towne would go on to be one of the hardest working and respected writers and script doctors in Hollywood (The Last Detail, Shampoo, Mission: Impossible, The Firm, Personal Best and Tequila Sunrise) and collect an Academy Award for writing Chinatown. Towne is quoted, however, as saying that his adaptation for The Tomb of Ligeia was the hardest he'd ever worked on. Dan and Vicky discuss the horror film along with plenty of recently seen like films Marty Supreme, Rosemead, Dead Man's Wife, The Lost Bus, Griffin in Summer, Twinless, Is This Thing On?, and TV series Heated Rivalry and Kaos. In this Hosting Hotline episode, Sarah and Annette answer a question from Susie, a host who's leveling up her short-term rental and wants to know: should you provide shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in every bathroom? It seems simple, but this small decision says a lot about your professionalism, your brand standards, and the overall guest experience. The answer is yes—and Sarah and Annette dive into why this baseline amenity matters more than hosts often realize.Inside the episode, they cover:• The Nashville stay that proved why missing basics can sink an otherwise great property• How guest expectations have drastically evolved going into 2025 and beyond• Why amenities are less about luxury and more about clarity, consistency, and professionalism• How missing basics show up in reviews (and how providing them quietly prevents friction)• Why standardized bathroom setups reduce mental load and improve operations• The role of comp-set research when choosing what to provide• How to anticipate guest needs using hotel-level hospitality thinking• An inside perspective from Taylor at Minoan on why amenities directly impact five-star reviewsWhether you're a new host or scaling a professional operation, this episode is a reminder that thoughtful basics are never optional. They are the foundation of a frictionless stay.Resources Mentioned: Minoan: Professional-grade supplies and better-than-trade pricing for hostsThanks for Visiting Bootcamp: Join the waitlistMentioned in this episode:Lodgify | Use code TFV20
