Let's wrap up our review of The Krofft Supershow, a super-silly Saturday morning TV show from mad geniuses Sid and Marty Krofft. The second season brought us two weird new segments: Magic Mongo (in which a goofy genie crashes a bikini beach party) and Bigfoot and Wildboy (in which a Sasquatch and a kid with no pants battle aliens and Peter Brady). The show was still hosted by wacky rock band Kaptain Kool and the Kongs, and we also review their appearances on American Bandstand, Donny and Marie, The Brady Bunch Variety Hour, and a Saturday Morning preview special with the Bay City Rollers. Of course our favorite Kaptain Kool and the Kongs member is Superchick, played by Debra Clinger, and we conclude our look at Debra's career beyond the Krofft world. Debra appeared on classic 70s/80s TV series like Barnaby Jones, The Hardy Boys, The Love Boat, and Hart to Hart. She starred in her own short-lived series The American Girls, alongside a future Three's Company star. She starred in the silly cult classic movie Midnight Madness, alongside a very young Michael J. Fox. And she even worked on a couple of our beloved Rankin/Bass Christmas specials. Also: 70s Hollywood power couple Lee and Farrah! Yogi Bear in space! Teen runaways and women in prison! The secret of the Dorse! A love connection on the set of Airwolf! Superchick meets the Snow Miser! Superchick meets Colonel Sanders! Krofft Supershow comic books! And the upcoming Super Megafest convention in Massachusetts, with some very special Krofft guests. So join us for more fun Krofft talk here on the Flopcast, where anything goes down, where most of what appears isn't true. The Flopcast website! The ESO Network! The Flopcast on Facebook! It's a surprise Flopcast recording live from the middle of Super Megafest! (Kornflake wasn't even supposed to be there, so we were all just shocked and delighted.) We discuss our whole silly day at the convention, wandering around eyeballing the celebrity guests, including Spider-Man's Nicholas Hammond, 3rd Rock's French Stewart, MASH's Loretta Swit, The Munsters' Butch Patrick, wrestlers Tony Atlas and Ted DiBiase, practically everybody from The Warriors, all three Dukes of Hazzard cousins (Bo, Luke, AND Daisy)... and Kornflake's 80s sitcom hero, Tony Danza. (After Kornflake's historic meeting with Tony, we may have figured out who the boss really was.) Plus: Rubber Chicken Comics, Muppets, Legos, bootleg DVDs, a photo op with HR Pufnstuf and Sigmund the Sea Monster, and a surprise cameo by one of our favorite local costumers. You should have been there. It was just ridiculous.
This week Patsy and Ashes discuss their adventures at Super Megafest! They talk about some of the people they met, vendors they saw, and how much they enjoyed The Warriors VIP experience! This episode has several interviews with the cast and crew that made The Warriors such a cult classic, including Bobbie Mannix the costume designer and creative force behind the iconic look of not just the Warriors, but every gang that was created for this film! There are some behind the scenes stories, and just what else these folks have been up to in the last 40 years! All this and more on this week's episode!
In this episode, Ben Chou and I enjoy a day at the great local con, SuperMegaFest. There's some amazing creatives here and we showcase a sampling of them on the show. First up, authors Killarney and Margaret Traynor tells about their Encounter Series, a collection of stories that begin with the phrase “what if?” This includes haunted houses and alien invasions, but more is coming. Next, Stephen Lomer debuts the short film adaptation of his book series, “Typo Squad.” Stephen talks about the transition from book to film and how the story changed to fit the medium. We also look at the stellar cast of this film and the different qualities they bring to the show. Cosplay artist Chelsea Von Chastity closes out the day by telling us about the Princess Ariel costume she wore for SuperMegaFest as well as the many other ones she has created over the years. She's been to a number of other cons over the years and shares a few stories about those great times.
This week I'm joined by podcaster Adam Gumby, cartoonist/creator of the comic strip Sour Grapes Tim Jones, and The Boy Wonderful Ian Wallace to discuss our thoughts on The Mandalorian! We talk about what we expect to see, don't expect to see, what we think the plot will entail, who we might see and where we might see them. We also chat about our theories of what the major event will be that no one's seen yet - will we finally learn that Chewbacca was Luke's father all along? Will the mystery of why Lando was wearing Han's clothes in Jedi finally be solved? Tune in to find out! Plus there's a contest to win some fabulous prizes and I tell you all about the Star Wars raffle this weekend at Super Mega Fest!

Kevin reports from one of our favorite local geek conventions (now back in its beloved original location), Super Megafest! Including: The stars of Lost in Space and Leave it to Beaver, 80s movie buttons from Rubber Chicken Comics (Free Johnny Dangerously!), Jonathan Winters trash bags (?), and a whole lot of Britneys, compliments of Good Enough Cosplay. And of course, there was the solo acoustic concert by TV's Will Robinson, Bill Mumy... which means we have the results of our Fish Heads bet! Did Bill perform "Fish Heads," as Kornflake predicted, thus dooming the Flopcast to a winter of iced coffee? All shall be revealed. Also this week: Halloween stuff (but not much), hockey masks, Mystery Science Theater 3000 Live in Boston (hi, Grant!), a High Feather video from Blasted Bill (or should we say Broccoli Bill?), the Extra Life charity gaming event (find Kornflake and Mousey there!), and Kevin's latest appearance on Pop Culture Cosmos to complain about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Next week: More complaining about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, right here on the Flopcast.

This week we celebrate Elisabeth Shue's birthday, and consider dressing up like a shower to take her to a Halloween dance; Kornflake reports on her August movie (we're a little late), When Harry Met Sally; there's a new Mystery Science Theater 3000 comic book, just as the Mads (TV's Frank and Dr. Forrester) visit Boston; Kevin has concert reports on synthpop legend Gary Numan (yeah, the "Cars" guy) as well as the Bust Out Boston Music Festival with Stars Like Ours, Petty Morals, and VQnC; we enjoy a delightfully chicken-themed "What's in the Bag" segment; and we look forward to Super Megafest, October 13-14 in Framingham, Massachusetts, with stars from Lost in Space and Leave it to Beaver. (Suddenly we want to see a death match between Dr. Smith and Eddie Haskell...)
We review Stranger Things Season 2, Thor Ragnarok and Super Megafest. Other topics include World of Warcraft, Lord of the Rings, GameStop and Spider-Man. Host: Nick Wyman and Tyler Ray. Email: knerdstable@gmail.com Twitter: @knerdstable Instagram: @knerdstable
Our ridiculous ten-episode trip through the 80s continues with a quick look at 1987! For astronomy fans, a supernova was visible in the sky; meanwhile back on Earth, we were dancing to Pet Shop Boys and Swing Out Sister. (The supernova, apparently not a fan of 80s pop, was unimpressed, and just kept on supernoving.) Also: Kevin has a surprise reunion with a couple of old friends and performers from his old open mic night (remember how we all spent the mid-90s in coffee shops?), Sean and Adam Fullerton. And we review the recent Super Megafest convention, where we found stars from LA Law, Battlestar Galactica, and The Flash, as well as our very favorite Bionic people, and the voice of Hermey the Elf. Who caused us to freak out the most? Oh yeah. It was Hermey.
In this episode, which is a bonus episode and not one of your regularly scheduled episodes, Sermonarian talks about her experience marketing her book and subsequently attending the Super Mega Fest comic con in Marlborough Massachusetts...and being on a panel!
Kevin and Kornflake celebrate 1983 with a fast car (maybe even faster than KITT) and the top ten songs from 34 years ago this week. (It's a weird mix of new wave, country, rockabilly, hat-free men, and Jim Steinman... so much Jim Steinman...) Also: At Granite State Comicon, we found old friends, artists, costumers, Spice Girls, Beavis, Daria, and drag-hens. (Drag-hens are dragon/chicken hybrids, and they're amazing.) Meanwhile it's almost time for another favorite convention, Super Megafest! It's October 21-22 in Marlborough, Massachusetts, and the guest list includes the Bionic Man AND Bionic Woman, stars from Battlestar Galactica and The Flash, comedians, wrestlers... and Paul Soles, who was HERMEY THE ELF in the 1964 Rudolph cartoon! Be there. Plus: At the beginning of the summer, we tried to pick the winning teams for the new Battle of the Network Stars. Now it's time to check the results. Did our strategy of betting on Greg Brady, Daisy Duke, Potsie, Blair, and Tootie pay off? (Here's a hint: No.)
We're sleepy and confused as usual, but we're back with a quick silly report from Super Megafest! It's one of our favorite local conventions, and we ran into many of our favorite local nerds. We also ran into WKRP in Cincinnati's Loni Anderson, Flash Gordon's Sam Jones... and yes, Greg Brady himself, the one and only Barry Williams. (To prepare emotionally for this moment, we've been listening to Barry's amazing album "The Return of Johnny Bravo" all week. The suit still fits.) Also: Why we didn't run the Boston Marathon, the new season of Mystery Science Theater 3000, a "What's in the Bag" segment featuring Canadian dinosaurs, and how to celebrate New Kids on the Block Day. But never mind all that. We finally met a Brady. It truly is a sunshine day.
Transform and Roll out! This week on an all new So Wizard Podcast, the gang takes on nerd news including DCEU Batman movies out the wazoo, a Call of Duty Cinematic Universe, and the terrifying prospect of 14 more Transformers films. Devon takes the listeners on a guided tour through his weekend, including his time spent at SuperMegaFest in Marlborough, Massachusetts, the various video game competitions he took place in, seeing Bowling for Soup, and his brand new mattress. Meanwhile Sejohn curates his own deep dive into the history of Adult Swim programming and his revisitation of the Straight-to-DVD DC Animated Feature films. Somehow, this culminates in a brief glimpse into that time they went to New Jersey to meet Kevin Smith
Here in miserable freezing Massachusetts, a knitting club is making tiny sweaters for chickens. (Yes, this is our kind of news item.) But this week we're also celebrating funny women (for She's Funny That Way Day), discussing Planters Cheez Balls (because they're tasty and weird and really good for you), and looking forward to the upcoming Super Megafest convention (April 7-9 in Marlborough, Massachusetts -- hopefully the weather will be more chicken-friendly by then). Super Megafest's guests include stars from Smallville, I Dream of Jeannie, WKRP in Cincinnati, Star Trek, The Outsiders... and a certain sitcom legend who has us absolutely terrified. Also: For some reason, we can't stop talking about Mr. Peanut. Maybe it's the monocle.
In the studio this episode is Nick Wyman, Tyler Ray and Ben McGray. We talk about our adventure at Super Megafest and review Doctor Strange. Other Topics: Wonder Woman X-Men reboot Nintendo Star Wars Quinton Tarantino Fantastic Beasts Vine Deadpool 2 Twitter: @knerdstable Email: knerdstable@gmail.com
Since two geeky conventions happened the same weekend, we divided and conquered. Kornflake wandered up to New Hampshire for Granite Game Summit, where she enjoyed a new game called Junk Art (but don't forget the classics, kids; we're still endlessly amused by Hungry Hungry Hippos). Meanwhile Kevin was at Super Megafest, along with the guys from Rubber Chicken Comics, the ladies of Wicked Geeky, Niki Luparelli and the Gold Diggers, "The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart, Ralph Macchio (The Karate Kid), David Mazouz (Gotham), Richard Dean Anderson and Richard Grieco (best known for their Facts of Life backdoor pilots), Aileen Quinn (from the 1982 Annie movie, and her fun new band The Leapin' Lizards), and yes, Meat Loaf. Also: Our friends Kyle and Lindsay made a VERY quick trip to Massachusetts (because they were kidnapped by Kornflake) for water aerobics, brunch, and butterflies. (You're all watching Kyle's new cartoon series Mighty Magiswords, right? RIGHT?) And it's National Cookie Monster Day, which is good enough for us.
SWING BATTER SWING! This week on an all new So Wizard, the team talks about their weekends at Bing Con and Super Mega Fest, dives into a gaggle of geek news including Guardian of the Galaxy and Logan trailers and then the main event: a full reaction and review of the much anticipated season premiere of The Walking Dead! Just arrived at Super Megafest and before the events begin we started the weekend with a new episode. Hosts: Nick Wyman, Tyler Ray and Ben McGray. Topics include; Nintendo Switch Logan Guardians of the Galaxy vol2 Lando casting PSN outage Marvel's cinematic and Netflix connections and more @knerdstable on Twitter!
If you're a fan of Wonder Woman and/or potatoes, we have more podcast recommendations; rapper Eminem has a birthday this week (can you guess which one of us is a fan?); in the long-awaited return of "Chickens in the News," we find a chicken crossing the road in Scotland (probably searching for the Bay City Rollers); and we preview next weekend's Super Megafest convention, featuring comedy from our pals Niki Luparelli and Ken Reid, as well as stars from Good Times, Gotham, The Karate Kid, The Outsiders, Annie, Rocky Horror Picture Show, and a forgotten backdoor pilot episode of The Facts of Life. (We still believe that "Tootie's Aunt and MacGyver" could've been a big hit...)
Can Kornflake see all the costumes, collectibles, and celebrity guests at Super Megafest in just ninety minutes, and not be late for karaoke? Let's find out. We did indeed find plenty of crazy characters there, including our friends from Rubber Chicken Comics and Wicked Geeky, costumer R. W. Martin (as Doc from The Love Boat!), and our old pal Mr. T. We also ran into stars like Lee Meriwether (Catwoman!), Michael Beck (The Warriors! And Xanadu!), and William Zabka (Cobra Kai!). And we even attended a Q&A session with Burt Reynolds, because we still have a lot to learn about early 80s mustaches. Also: Steve Martin and Martin Short (two amigos, approximately) come to Boston, Kornflake is the Chico DeBarge of poetry, and lobsters are the new cows.
This week, on an all new So Wizard Podcast: Joey and Markellus tell you all about their weekend at New England Super Megafest, then, the podcast power posse launches into a discussion of topics including the Rogue One trailer, the new Suicide Squad trailer, a Cloak and Dagger TV show, Walking Dead cliffhangers and more!!!! ALWAYS FREE to subscribe on iTunes, listen on Stitcher Radio or right on our website! Huge thanks to SuperMegaFest for the press passes and access to their event! Like us on Facebook! While every other podcast is busy reviewing Batman v Superman, we know what the people really want. They want Kornflake's brutally honest review of the new Full House sequel series, Fuller House. (We've been preparing for this moment for years, by staring at the same photo of Dave Coulier every day.) Kornflake also recommends Zootopia, which offers more political intrigue than any cartoon since Captain Caveman. And we look ahead to next week's Super Megafest convention, where you can meet Burt Reynolds, Chewbacca, Hercules, Eddie Munster, a Beatle, a Badfinger, and The Warriors! (One of those Warriors also starred in the old Ted Knight sitcom Too Close For Comfort, which is very, very important to us.) We hope to see you there -- remember, as Huey Lewis said, it's hip to be a square root, or something.
It's our final Flopcast of 2015! Almost time to flop over and relax! We celebrate with the return of Kornflake's regular National Whatever Day segment, in which we learn why paper snowflakes can be disgusting. (You're welcome!) Then Kevin reports on last month's Super Megafest convention, featuring Nichelle Nichols, Peter Tork and Bobby Hart, the Dukes of Hazzard, and the Miser Brothers. (Apparently Heat Miser finally outwitted Snow Miser, because we certainly had a green Christmas here in Chickentown.) And of course, we reveal our (really stupid) New Year's Resolutions. Meanwhile, Kornflake is spending the final days of 2015 frantically hopping on a trampoline, thanks to her OLD Year's Resolution. She is dedicated. And dizzy.
I just got back from New Englands Biggest Party! New England SUPER MEGAFEST Comic-Con, if Framingham MA. It was a blast and a half! They had over a dozen celebrity, Comic and music guests, way to many for me to see them all. I did see Michael Biehn, From Aliens and The Terminator, Kristanna Loken, the terminator from T3 Rise of the Machines, Michael Winslow, From Police Academy and Spaceballs, and, Judith Hoag, Leif Tilden and Michael Sisti from the "original" Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie in 1990. I also attended the costume ball and Come Together Music Fest!! Not to be forgotten, the Generail Lee, Kit Car and the original Batmobile, where also on display. Tune and see what I thought about the show and share your insight, if you where there as well.
This week we're creeping back to 1983, the year Top 40 radio was totally conquered by goofy new wave. We were blinded with science, rocked down to Electric Avenue, safety danced if we wanted to, and watched 99 red balloons go by. In fact, Kevin's pick for our 1983 discussion is Nena, the young German lady who taught us about those red balloons (or luftballons, if you prefer). Meanwhile, Kornflake reminds us that 1983 was also the year of the Chicken McNugget! (Mayor McCheese knew his days were numbered when those little creeps blew into town.) We also look ahead to the Super Megafest convention (November 21-22), where you can meet MacGyver, Big Bird, a Bad News Bear, a Monkee, and all three Dukes of Hazzard cousins! (We're not counting Coy and Vance. Sorry, guys.) And we sneak in a quick review of the new Supergirl TV series, and learn that Kevin would not make a good Supergirl. Alas, another dream has died...
Join the Leaguers as they tell the tales of their national comic con tour including stories from Southcoast Toy and Comic Show, Super Megafest, and C2E2! Hear about Tony Atlas and his gassy nature, Facetiming with Jonathan Frakes, bumping into Baymax, and hear interviews with some of the great folks we met at the shows!
Another convention report, from the new spring edition of Super Megafest! Featuring pirates, Ghostbusters, Bigfoot hunters, Mr. T, Wicked Geeky costumers, a Niki Luparelli concert, a CHiPs reunion, Supergirl's Helen Slater, Soap's Katherine Helmond, Star Trek's Jonathan Frakes, a kilt-free Rowdy Roddy Piper, and an alligator on the loose! Plus: A quick detour into Harvard Square for a live edition of TV Guidance Counselor with Ken Reid, Eugene Mirman (from Bob's Burgers), and Jon Glaser (from the Slipnutz)! Also: Bird Day is this week. Happy Bird Day to you.

We also pick a winner for the MonsterZero contest and rush to the finish of the show with an explosive ending! So grab your GoPro camera, your beef jerky and strap on! According to the Elders, it's time to celebrate 75 years of Captain Marvel! Yes, young Billy Batson has been screaming "Shazam!" and fighting crime (and Superman's lawyers) as Captain Marvel since 1940. This week we'll look at the comic books, the movie serials, the cartoons, and of course, the live action Saturday morning TV series from Filmation (from which we learned that driving around in a Winnebago looking for troubled teens is not NECESSARILY creepy). Along the way we'll meet Mary Marvel (Billy's surprise twin sister!), Captain Marvel Junior (who was a huge influence on Elvis Presley, believe it or not), a talking tiger, an evil worm, and maybe even Hoppy the Marvel Bunny. We'll learn about the weird 1960s version of Captain Marvel, who could separate his head and limbs from his torso. (Then again, everyone could probably do that, at least once.) We'll learn how to stop your city from being buried in strawberry Jell-O. (Folks, it's not a question of if it will happen, but when.) And we'll learn why we should get totally liquored up for the Shazam movie. (Just don't tell those pesky Elders.) Also: National Whatever Day, Super Megafest, and the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival. That should keep you busy until the evil Dr. Sivana destroys us all.
It's creature double feature time at Trick Or Treat Radio and we are not facing it alone! Along for the ride this week is our good buddy Joe DiCanio of the Film for Thought Podcast! We conjure up some interesting discussions this week as we discuss the latest film from Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, Spring! Trailing not too far behind is our review of the indie horror smash hit from David Robert Mitchell, starring Maika Monroe, It Follows! Kornflake makes her triumphant return to Chickentown, just in time to teach us about unfrozen cavemen! (Was our favorite Facts of Life girl Mindy Cohn ever frozen in ice? Perhaps not, but it's a rumor we just sort of started.) Then Kevin reports on our final convention of the year, Super Megafest! Including: Hula hooping with Niki Luparelli, Barbapapa talk with Ken Reid, legendary comic book artist Ramona Fradon (Aquaman! Metamorpho! SUPER FRIENDS!), Ninja Turtle history with Kevin Eastman, quality Monkee time with Micky Dolenz, a Bionic reunion (with Lindsay Wagner and Lee Majors!), a Star Trek: The Next Generation reunion (with Deanna Troi, Tasha Yar, and Howling Mad Murdock!), a surprise detour to see Louis CK, a surprise hug from Debbie Gibson, and (of course) a Stormtrooper mermaid.
Kornflake attends yet another Lindsay and TV's Kyle wedding (those crazy kids just can't stop getting married) and gets stuck on a lobster sign (of course); Kevin reports on shows by comedian Jim Gaffigan (yes, the Hot Pockets guy) and Irish rock band Black 47 (yes, their sax player was in Dexy's Midnight Runners, and yes, this is very important); we celebrate Danny DeVito's 70th birthday (and argue that his greatest achievement was starring in that Billy Ocean video); this week's "Chickens in the News" segment takes us all the way to the Supreme Court; and there's no need to tell Kornflake which 80s pop star will be at next week's Super Megafest convention. Somehow, she just knows.

This week we're looking back at 1982! Time Magazine said the "Man of the Year" was a computer -- and it was, thanks to Tron. 1982 was also the year we learned about Stupid Pet Tricks, vegemite sandwiches, and, uh, the Weather Channel. Most importantly, we learned how to "Do the Donkey Kong" -- but we never did. Also: Kevin and Kornflake are back from Super Megafest, where we met Balki, Chicken Joe, pirate mermaids, and Darth Santa.

(Oh, we also learn that Kornflake hates Velcro, but deep in your heart, you already knew that.)
