The Intuitive Customer - Improve Your Customer Experience To Gain Growth
Personalization is a developing area in Customer Experiences. With AI driving what could be possible, many of you might be wondering how you can best leverage its capability in yours. To that end, we invited our special guest, Graham Hill, Ph.D., to explore the rapidly evolving field of Personalization in Customer Experiences. With decades of experience in customer relationship management (CRM) and Customer Experience, Hill shares valuable insights into how personalization, particularly with the help of AI, is reshaping customer interactions and driving business results. Hill explains that personalization operates on a continuum, ranging from broad, branded communications to highly individualized content tailored to a single customer's needs. He also emphasizes balancing mass and personalized communication within a marketing strategy. While mass communication builds general brand awareness, personalized and individualized content can significantly enhance customer engagement and drive sales. Hill discusses the impressive impact of personalized communications, noting that customized content can be up to nine times more effective and individualized content up to 44 times more effective at eliciting customer responses than generic communications. However, he warns against over-personalization, advising businesses to consider their goals and the specific problems personalization can solve before investing heavily in these technologies. Hill also critiques traditional segmentation methods, advocating for outcome-based segmentation instead. By understanding what customers are trying to achieve and how they measure success, businesses can design more effective personalized communications that resonate with customers at different stages of their journey. The episode also features a case study from Hill's work with Toyota Financial Services, where implementing personalized communication in the repurchase management program led to a significant increase in response rates—from 10% to 35%. Hill's approach underscores the importance of clear goals, continuous improvement, and a customer-centric focus in personalization efforts. In this episode, we also explore: The balance between mass communication and personalization in marketing strategies. The significant impact of personalized and individualized content on customer engagement. The importance of outcome-based segmentation for effective personalization. The dangers of over-investing in new technologies without clear goals. Practical steps for understanding customer needs and enhancing key interactions through personalization. The role of AI tools in supporting but not overshadowing simple, effective personalization efforts.

This is Stephen Schmidt from the Gazette digital news desk and I'm here with your update for Thursday, May 5. Back to rain again Thursday and Friday. According to the National Weather Service there will be a 40 percent chance of rain in the Cedar Rapids area mainly after noon and this will jump up to 80 percent by Thursday evening. Otherwise it will be cloudy with a high temperature near 54 degrees. Toyota Financial Services will eliminate 322 positions in Cedar Rapids, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed with Iowa Workforce Development on Monday. The move is not entirely unexpected. In March 2021, the company said https://www.thegazette.com/business/toyota-financial-services-to-relocate-cedar-rapids-customer-service-center-that-employs-600/?amp=1 (it would relocate its customer service center )that at the time employed 600 within the next two years. The service centers are to be consolidated to Chandler, Ariz., Plano, Texas, and Alpharetta, Ga. Vincent Bray, corporate communications senior manager, told The Gazette in an email Wednesday “that every team member in good standing at Cedar Rapids who wanted to continue with the organization has been offered a position at one of our other locations.” The number of new COVID-19 cases continued to increase in Iowa in the past week, but the number of coronavirus deaths in the state remains low. The state added 2,114 new coronavirus cases in the past seven days, up 23 percent from the 1,716 new cases reported last week, according to new data from the Iowa Department of Public Health. New cases have been increasing steadily in Iowa for more than a month as the omicron subvariant, BA.2, has become the dominant coronavirus strain in the Midwest and the rest of the country. Despite this, hospitalizations only ticked up slightly this week. There also was some good news on deaths from the virus. On Wednesday, the state public health department confirmed four deaths as a result of the coronavirus in Iowa — the lowest number of deaths confirmed in one week since the pandemic began, data shows. If you stream it, people might get Peacock. Probably not, but it's worth a try. This summer, a new diamond in the rough will be created in the Des Moines area for a seven-part Field of Dreams prequel series to be streamed next year on Peacock. The show will take a deeper dive into the backstory and characters from the original film, said Liz Gilman, film commissioner with Produce Iowa, the State Office of Media Production, based in Des Moines. The cast hasn't been announced yet, but Gilman has been told people will recognize the names. She also hasn't heard if Kevin Costner, who starred in the original film, will be attached to the production. Shooting is slated for Polk County, Boone, Oskaloosa and Clinton, and Iowans are invited to get in on the action. Other scenes will be shot in Minneapolis, Boston and Los Angeles.

It's one of the most ambitious and important projects an organization can undertake to future-proof its operations. It's also become a key differentiator in which companies will merely survive and which will truly thrive in the years ahead. We're talking about a “digital core transformation,” and it is a truly massive undertaking. That's why IDC created the “Best in Future of Digital Infrastructure Awards” -- a way of recognizing organizations that have demonstrated innovation and excellence in preparing for the “next normal”. And on this episode of Future Enterprise, you'll meet three companies that have done just that -- successfully leveraged digital technologies to dramatically improve the way they do business. Together, Joe Pucciarelli, Group Vice President and IT Executive Advisor at IDC and Rick Villars, IDC's Group Vice-President of Worldwide Research, will hear from: Jim Diorio, Senior Vice-President of Global Technical Services at Tapestry Inc; Steve Samarge, Chief Technology Officer, Information and Digital Systems at Toyota Financial Services; and Bob Bender, Chief Technology Officer at Founders Federal Credit Union. Their stories will inform, entertain, and even inspire anyone who may be thinking about undertaking a similar transformation for their business.

This episode features an interview with Unmesh Srivastava, Chief Technology Officer for P3 Health Partners. P3 Health Partners are a patient-centric, physician-led company dedicated to improving the way care is provided. We talk with Unmesh about how data can be used to predict medical issues, remote patient monitoring, value-based care, and his personal reason for going into medical tech.3 Takeaways:Look at how other countries are operating and use them as a model for improvement when possible. It’s important to use data to continually evaluate age-old institutions like healthcare, because there’s always room for innovation.Giving someone their own data empowers them to make decisions around that information.Key Quotes:“We work to deliver value-based care. And I think there is no other way than having slick data in your ecosystem that can drive that. You need to touch all these data points to identify physician performance, patient satisfaction, the quality of care, the cost of care...and if that's how you're going to pay the healthcare system and provide great care, then it has to be data driven.”“Data changes behavior. If you have the right data to see what might play out in the future, you will definitely change those actions to change that future. A lot of times we don't see that future, and that's why we don't change our actions today. I think data is the only way that you can do that.”“What is important? I think we all forget we are here for a finite time period, and you have to have a mission that's bigger than you and bigger than finances and other things.”Bio:Unmesh Srivastava is currently serving as a CTO (Chief Technology Officer) at P3 Health Partners. Unmesh fosters the company with innovative data-driven automation and technological solutions. He has a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Rajasthan in India and a Master of Science degree from California State University at Northridge. This is Stephen Schmidt from the Gazette digital news desk and I'm here with your update for Thursday, March 25th. It looks like another cold, cloudy, and rainy day is in store for us on Thursday. According to the National Weather Service, there will be a chance for rain all day in the Cedar Rapids area, with the highest likelihood for rain coming in the afternoon and evening hours. The rainfall is not predicted to be heavy. When it is not raining, it is expected to remain cloudy, with a high temperature of 50 degrees. Two inmates used prison hammers to kill a nurse and a correctional officer Tuesday morning in a failed attempt to escape from the Anamosa State Penitentiary, officials said Wednesday. Nurse Lorena Schulte, 50, and Officer Robert McFarland, 46, died of blunt force trauma to the head. McKinley Roby, an inmate who tried to help Schulte and McFarland, also was hit in the head, but survived and is being treated at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Another Anamosa staffer, Lorie Mathes, was briefly taken hostage in the Tuesday morning escape attempt, but was not hurt, according to Division of Criminal Investigation Special Agent in Charge Rick Rahn, who spoke at a news conference Wednesday afternoon in front of the prison. Michael Dutcher, 28, and Thomas Woodard, 39, who were serving time at Anamosa for robbery and other charges, now are charged with two counts each of first-degree murder, second-degree murder and kidnapping, Rahn said. They had been planning the escape attempt for some time, he said. The men checked out the hammers and a metal grinder Tuesday under the ruse of fixing something in the break room area of the prison's infirmary. They used the hammers to break through windows and attempted to use the grinder to remove the bars. The roughly 950-inmate state prison is now under full lockdown as officials investigate and assess security. A man already facing a murder charge in Illinois now faces local charges in a fatal March 7 wrong-way crash on Interstate 380 through Cedar Rapids. Tyler Lee, 34, of Rockton, Ill., turned himself in about 4 p.m. at the Linn County Jail, shortly after police announced he was being sought. He faces two vehicular homicide charges — one related to driving while drunk and the other for reckless driving. He also faces two counts of causing serious injury by motor vehicle. Police said Lee was driving a pickup truck the wrong way down the northbound lanes of I-380 near the Seventh Street NE exit when he hit another vehicle. The collision killed a passenger in that vehicle, 23-year-old David Nguyen of Cedar Rapids. Toyota Financial Services will relocate its Cedar Rapids customer service center that employs 600 people within the next two years, a spokesman told The Gazette. Toyota will consolidate its customer service centers from six to three locations — Chandler, Ariz., Plano, Texas, and Alpharetta, Ga. The Texas location will cover the central region. Toyota spokesman Vince Bray said every employee “in good standing” will be offered a role at one of the other customer service centers. “Most will be offered roles in Texas, but some could go to the other centers,” Bray wrote in an email. Bray did not disclose separation benefit possibilities for those employees who do not relocate. This briefing is sponsored in part by Corridor Careers. Do you know how being aware (or unaware) of diversity in our population is affecting your life? Most of the time we go through life without truly being aware of the difficulties that people in diverse groups have in their personal and professional lives, OR we are a member of a diverse group and feel like we are marginalized, unaccounted for, or misunderstood. It is ALL OF OUR responsibilities to make this world more inclusive for all people, especially if we are in positions of privilege or power. In this episode we explore what the challenges are for people in diverse populations as well as what structural changes need to occur to allow everyone to feel welcome and cherished. Our interview with Jennifer Brown teaches us: 1) What it means to be in a diverse group of the population (and what it can feel like!), 2) How leaders must shift their thoughts and actions in order to create a more inclusive environment for diverse members of a workforce, and 3) What inner shifts we all can make in order to bring more empathy and understanding to the world.
