Samsung detuvo la actualización One UI 7 por fallas graves. Usuarios reportan errores de seguridad y desbloqueo  Por Félix Riaño @LocutorCo  Samsung pausó el despliegue de One UI 7, su sistema basado en Android 15, por errores de seguridad y funcionamiento en Galaxy S24 y otros modelos.  La felicidad por la llegada de One UI 7 a los Galaxy duró poco. Samsung detuvo el despliegue global de su nueva interfaz por un error grave que afecta a usuarios del Galaxy S24. El sistema, que prometía mejoras visuales e inteligencia artificial avanzada, ahora genera problemas para desbloquear el teléfono y expone fotos privadas fuera de la Carpeta Segura. ¿Qué pasó exactamente? ¿Y qué deben hacer quienes ya lo instalaron? Vamos a explicarlo todo en este episodio, incluso si no usas un Galaxy.  El sistema nuevo… terminó cancelando su propia fiesta One UI 7 era la actualización más esperada del año para usuarios Samsung. Llegó a algunos modelos, como los Galaxy S24, Z Fold 6 y Z Flip 6, e incluía rediseño visual, funciones con IA, una barra Now más inteligente y mejoras para grabar y editar. Entre ellas, Audio Eraser, capaz de limpiar sonidos de fondo en videos, y Writing Assist, para redactar y resumir textos. También prometía una experiencia cercana a la de los nuevos Galaxy S25. Pero tras solo unos días de haberse lanzado en Corea del Sur y otros países, algo salió muy mal.  Una filtración del reconocido tipster IceUniverse reveló que la actualización fue retirada de los servidores de Samsung luego de detectar un error grave. Algunos usuarios del Galaxy S24 informaron que no podían desbloquear sus teléfonos después de instalarla. Además, medios especializados como SamMobile descubrieron un fallo en la Carpeta Segura: fotos privadas quedaban visibles fuera de su espacio protegido al ser usadas en “Historias” automáticas creadas por la app de Galería. Samsung no ha emitido un comunicado oficial detallado, pero ya suspendió la actualización en todo el mundo. También eliminaron el cronograma de despliegue para países como Vietnam. Y aunque en algunos teléfonos el sistema funciona sin problemas, nadie sabe cuándo volverá a estar disponible.  Samsung aseguró que está “actualizando el calendario de lanzamiento para garantizar la mejor experiencia posible”. Pero hasta el momento, no hay una nueva fecha. Esto afecta a quienes ya recibieron One UI 7 y también a quienes la estaban esperando en abril, mayo o junio. La lista incluía Galaxy S23, S22, S21, Tab S9, A34, A35 y varios modelos más. Incluso usuarios que ya tienen instalado el sistema en su Galaxy S25 se preguntan si también están en riesgo.Los expertos recomiendan revisar si tu teléfono instaló la versión y, de ser así, desactivar la función de “crear historias automáticas” dentro de la Carpeta Segura, como medida preventiva. Basta con ir a Galería > Menú > Ajustes > y desactivar esa opción. Mientras tanto, queda claro que One UI 7 no estaba listo. Y eso deja en el aire no solo una actualización, sino la confianza en el manejo de la privacidad por parte de Samsung.  One UI 7 es la capa de personalización que Samsung pone sobre Android 15. Cambia el aspecto visual del sistema, añade funciones como la barra Now, integra herramientas con inteligencia artificial y mejora detalles como la grabación de audio y la escritura asistida. Se esperaba que llegara a decenas de modelos Galaxy antes de que Android 16 aparezca en junio.Pero este incidente representa la primera vez que Samsung detiene un despliegue global de esta magnitud. En Ars Technica lo describieron así: “Más bien parece Zero UI”. La decisión de lanzar la actualización sin identificar el error muestra que las pruebas beta no fueron suficientes. El error de seguridad es tan básico que no hace falta forzar el sistema: simplemente ocurre. Además, la nueva interfaz no es compatible con otros fabricantes. Si estabas buscando “One UI 7” en tu Motorola, tu Xiaomi o tu Oppo… no la vas a encontrar.  Samsung detuvo One UI 7 por fallos graves que afectan seguridad y funcionamiento. 一、思想問題：我們如何遵守神的約？是表面遵守、短暫遵守，還是深度持續地遵守？我是使人得自由的，還是挾制、控制人的？ 二、鑰節： 34:17 所以耶和華如此說：你們沒有聽從我，各人向弟兄鄰舍宣告自由。看哪！我向你們宣告一樣自由，就是使你們自由於刀劍、饑荒、瘟疫之下，並且使你們在天下萬國中拋來拋去。這是耶和華說的。 神的旨意是要人相愛、要人自由，因此在摩西律法已經規定不可以強迫弟兄作奴隸，但是神的選民一直沒有遵行神的話。 而在戰爭危難時間，這群百姓短暫地順服遵行，卻在危機暫時解除時，又故態復萌，違背神的約、違背人的約，更違背愛人的法則。 當人拒絕神，而自以為得著自由時，就進入了另一種自由──自由於刀劍、死亡、墮落中！ 我們真是要高度謹慎、警醒，我們所得著的自由是怎樣的自由，是把我們帶進生命之道，還是帶入黑暗的自由？ 三、經文結構： A34:1-7 給西底家盼望：審判必臨，得以善終。 →B34:8-22 責備西底家和耶路撒冷的人不守承諾： 8-11釋放後又反悔；12-16先知提醒；17-22刑罰臨到。 四、結構亮光： Q：vv.1-7是先知給西底家王的信息，有審判、安慰、提醒，也給我們什麼幫助？ A： 主前589年西底家王背叛，巴比倫軍隊大舉進犯，次年圍困耶路撒冷，猶大城邑僅存拉吉、亞西加苟延殘喘，考古文獻有明載當時猶大飽受蹂躪、岌岌可危的情景。 先知一再冒生命危險勸王投降（37-38章），可惜西底家終未納諫而落得悲慘下場。 神的審判是v.2 所有猶大地都要敗給巴比倫，城市要被火焚燒，v.3西底家王即將面對無法逃避的審判，要被捉拿到巴比倫王的面前。 神的安慰是v.4西底家王不致被殺，v.5會平安而死、得以善終，人也為他舉哀，但在國破家亡中，這樣的安慰仍然令人心酸。 神的提醒是v.4要聽神的話，很可惜西底家王一直拒絕，所以整個國家落到極大的審判中。 值得注意的是，這裡並沒有提到「悔改」的信息，很可能已經來不及了，審判已經是必然的，只能求在被審判後保留全屍。 Q：vv.8-22則是給一群背信的子民，明明要釋放猶大奴隸卻又反悔，神給這群人怎樣的審判？ A： 當巴比倫圍困耶路撒冷時，西底家曾率貴冑、眾百姓訂立一項正式誓約，釋放該城所有僕婢。這項契約的動機可能為權宜之計，因 1）糧食缺乏：戰時糧食缺乏、農地荒蕪，奴婢反而是累贅、負擔； 2）作戰需要：軍隊也需要抽調壯丁保衛城池； 3）遵行神的話：有些主人的確是為實踐律法的要求而贊同此舉。 v.21不料巴比倫軍隊因埃及出兵而暫時撤退（主前588年），該項誓約便遭破壞，得釋放的僕婢又再被強迫服奴役，先知遂宣告神對該項背信行為的審判，暫撤而去的巴比倫軍隊必捲土重來，猶大必淪為焦土。 神如何提醒百姓： 1）回顧自己作奴僕：v.13提到神的約，就是在列祖在埃及地作奴隸時，神所賜下的律法；換言之，就是要百姓記得自己也曾經是奴隸，神都釋放了百姓，而他們今日理當釋放人。 2）違背神的約：v.15他們曾在稱為神名下的殿中立約，神提醒這不只是與人立約，更是與神立約，但是人卻隨意違背！ 3）違背人的約：v.16反悔向人所立的約。 4）不愛人：神提醒說v.17他們所釋放的人，就是他們的鄰舍，v.14就是他們的弟兄，而他們卻逼迫弟兄為奴隸。 神要賜下的刑罰是v.17當人拒絕給人自由，神就賜下另一種自由，就是自由地將人放在刀劍、饑荒、瘟疫之下。今日的世代也是如此，人要追求自由、要脫離神，就把自己帶進審判中。 v.21「暫離」使危機短暫解除，百姓卻沒有真實深刻悔改，這才是真正的危機！當眼前的危機解除時，小心有更大的屬靈危機要臨到。 危險一過，猶大百姓由上至下反悔，再次奴役僕婢，這是人極大的問題──只看得到眼前的獎賞、福樂，卻看不見神的心意、看不見神的急切，因此只有短暫的悔改；呼求主把迅速且深度的悔改賜給我們！ 五、反省問題： 神給我們的悔改的時間是有限的，千萬不要無節制浪費神的提醒、恩典，要把握今日及時悔改！ 我是否看見神每個吩咐中都是濃濃的愛？我是否真實學習愛神、愛人？什麼是我悔改的行動？ －－－－－－－－－－－－－－－－ 講員： 貴格會合一堂 徐坤靖牧師 聖經之鑰-各卷書播放清單： https://thfc.pse.is/3epsdf 【聖經之鑰 相關資源】YouTube： https://thfc.pse.is/3cfams電子書： https://thfc.pse.is/3ccluu Powered by Firstory Hosting

The strange activity at Cannock chase includes all manner of strange creatures, from Werewolves and Dogmen and sightings of the elusive British bigfoot to ghostly visitations, succubus attacks and plenty of UFO, shadow beings and black eyed children to name but a few. The chase is infamous for those very reasons in the UK and many people report demonic or entity possession when staying over or visiting the chase. I noticed several years ago there were high numbers of missing people, pets and farm animals in higher numbers than other towns in Staffordshire. I also wondered if the chase has other hidden secrets. . Who knows what happens in the dark of the night. But have you ever wondered if there is a connection to all of this strangeness and the gruesome serial killer that used the chase as his hunting ground in the 1960's? The area gained notoriety in the late 1960s when the Cannock Chase murders made national headlines; when the remains of three young girls were found on the Chase after they went missing from areas along the A34 road that runs into central Birmingham. Raymond Leslie Morris, a motor engineer from Walsall, was found guilty at Stafford Assizes of one of the murders in 1968 and was sentenced to life imprisonment. 一、思想問題：當我們回顧自己的過去、家族的歷史、國家的歷史，我們看到了什麼？又與今天的我們有什麼關係？ 二、鑰節： 78:6 使將要生的後代子孫可以曉得；他們也要起來告訴他們的子孫，78:7 好叫他們仰望神，不忘記神的作為，惟要守他的命令。 信仰不是只有我們這一代，而是要去思想一代又一代的信仰傳承，要教導孩子如何使人認識神的愛，如何與人分享神的愛。我們所經歷的一切，為的是使我們經歷神作為的奇妙，使我們絕對不忘記神，並且堅持要遵行神的話。 三、經文結構： 1-7 教導後代不忘記神。 A8-11 列祖的悖逆：不守神的約、忘記神。 →B12-16 神的恩典：紅海分開出埃及、磐石出水。 A17-20 列祖的悖逆：得罪神、試探神，隨己所欲求食物，妄論神。 →B21-33 神發怒刑罰：21-22因人的不信；23-29賜下嗎哪、降肉如雨；30-33 在吃飽時犯罪，神擊殺。 A34-37 列祖的悖逆：34-35 短暫悔改、回轉尋求神；36-37 心不正、不忠。 →B38-39 神的恩典：憐憫不滅絕。 A40-42 列祖的悖逆：試探神，使神擔憂。 →B43-55 神的恩典：43-51十災、擊殺埃及人長子；52-55 神恩待選民，帶領進迦南地，趕出外邦人。 A56-58 列祖的悖逆：邱壇、拜偶像。 →B59-72 神的恩典：59-64 離棄約櫃，百姓被擄、被殺；65-72 神刑罰敵人，揀選、引導猶大。 四、結構亮光： 本篇詩篇回顧過去以色列的歷史，是由人的悖逆與神的恩典兩條線交錯來描述，A是列祖的悖逆，B是神的恩典。ABAB的架構共出現了5次，可見人一再悖逆，而神卻一再施恩。若亞薩的詩是被擄後的詩歌，這就更具有豐富的意義，提醒我們今日要如何在被擄中趕快悔改、抓住神。 vv.1-7是重要的引言，也是本篇的目的，要向後代述說神的作為。v.7提到好使子孫永遠不忘記神的作為，並要遵守神的命令。信仰的傳承是每一代的任務，我們期待留給孩子與家族的是什麼，關鍵就在於今日我們所看重的，與要傳遞的到底是什麼！ A的部分，經文中提到的悖逆： vv.8-11 是第一段，v.8心不正、心不誠實；v.9提到以法蓮，v.67再次提到，以分裂王國最大的支派作代表，表示拒絕神的揀選，也可說是指士20章的事件──不守神的約。 vv.17-20是第二段，即便曠野有水，人仍然悖逆神，挑戰、妄論神，抨擊神說祢能變個把戲，把肉變出來，為我們在曠野開派對嗎？ vv.34-37是第三段，即便vv.34-35看起來在管教後有求問神、尋求神、追念神，但只是膚淺、短暫、沒有深度的悔改，因為vv.36-37他們的心仍是悖逆的，一切的誓言、委身都是在諂媚、說謊，其關鍵在於v.8,37心不正。 vv.40-42是第四段，在曠野悖逆、再三試探神、懷疑神。v.42忘記神，不追念神的能力，這也是本篇詩篇寫作的目的，v.7期待人們子子孫孫都能不要忘記神的作為！ vv.56-58是第五段的悖逆，他們試探、悖逆至高主。v.57翻背的弓，表示他們像一把鬆弛的弓般地不可靠，如同v.9所提到的一樣。v.58邱壇與偶像也充斥在選民中間。 B的部分： 但是經文中更寶貴的是，即便人這樣的悖逆、軟弱，但是神仍用不動搖的愛與管教來對待我們。 vv.12-16是第一段的恩典，神仍然在埃及行奇事，使紅海分開，雲柱火柱圍繞，使磐石出水。 vv.21-33是第二段，即便是神發怒管教，仍是為了要使選民得著救恩。v.21過去怒氣臨到外邦人，今日也臨到神的選民，最可怕的是vv.23-29表面上是神的恩典，在曠野中有肉可以吃，給他們超乎想像的祝福，但是背後卻是神的刑罰，v.30當肉還在口中，神就刑罰、擊打以色列人，殺了那吃最多的肥壯人。不要以為今天一帆風順，就代表神悅納我們，我們也可能正在積蓄神的憤怒，這可能只是表面的恩典，是刑罰的象徵，而最大的刑罰就是失去永生，因此許多人今生的富足，其實是對他們最大的刑罰，因為自以為安全，就安安逸逸地下陰間。 vv.38-39是第三段的恩典，v.21剛剛講到神對選民發怒，在這裡神就屢次消怒，憐恤人只是血氣、如風一般。 vv.43-55是第四段的恩典，重述了埃及的十災，而vv.52-55神對選民卻是更大的恩典，把外邦人趕出，使選民住在其中。 vv.59-72是第五段的恩典，vv.59-64神發怒離開示羅、離開聖所、離開約櫃，但就在被擄、可怕的光景中，v.65神仍然在工作，打退敵人、揀選猶大、重新堅立與猶大的約。神使地上的君王重新有純正的品格，與巧妙的恩賜來引導百姓，這更可說是彌賽亞的預言。 五、反省問題： 我是否常常忘記神、悖逆神、不守神的約，只有短暫而沒有深度的悔改？ 我今日的平順是神祝福的記號，還是神要審判刑罰的前兆？我確定正走在神的道路上嗎？ 我們幾次犯罪，神就幾次憐憫，這給我們什麼安慰與鼓勵？ －－－－－－－－－－－－－－－－ 講員： 貴格會合一堂 徐坤靖牧師 聖經之鑰-各卷書播放清單： https://thfc.pse.is/3epsdf 【聖經之鑰 相關資源】YouTube： https://thfc.pse.is/3cfams電子書： https://thfc.pse.is/3ccluu Powered by Firstory Hosting

一、思想問題：什麼人可以承受神的祝福？可以安然居住？ 二、鑰節： 37:4 又要以耶和華為樂，他就將你心裏所求的賜給你。 37:5 當將你的事交託耶和華，並倚靠他，他就必成全。 這兩節重複出現神要成全我們心中所求所要的，就是心想事成，這是很大的恩典，但是我們要問怎樣的人可以經歷這份祝福？ v.4以神為樂，對神有樂趣take delight in the Lord，就是不以世界的事為滿足，不追求地上的一切，而單單追求神自己，這樣的人不要神來滿足我們的渴望，而是期待滿足神的渴望，所以心中所求的，顯然不是這個世界的功名利祿，而是神自己。 v.4是目標，v.5是方式，交託耶和華，將你的行程交於永恆主commit your way，在完成目標的道路上，要學習不斷地把行程交給神，把每一天的路程、腳步、時間表都交給神，並且倚靠祂trust in him，每一天所需的力量、勇敢、生命泉源都在神的裡面。 祂必成全，祂會去做he will do this。神不只是幫助我們、成全我們，更是親自去做。生命最重要的戰場不是我們去打，最關鍵的勝利不是我們成就，而是神自己為我們爭戰與得勝。 三、經文結構： A1-2惡人的終局：不要為作惡者心懷不平。 →B3-6義人的賞賜：倚靠神行善，神必成全。 A7-15惡人的終局：不要為作惡者心懷不平，惡人終將滅亡。 →B16-19義人的賞賜。 A20-22惡人的終局：義人與惡人的比較。 →B23-33 義人的賞賜：堅固的福氣。 A34-36惡人的終局：惡人的結局：短暫發旺，終必滅亡。 →B37-40 義人的賞賜：靠神得救。 四、結構亮光： 本篇是大衛正在面對許多惡人、惡行，讓人心生不滿、心懷不平，而在惡人亨通表象的背後，大衛看見了屬靈的真相，就是神對義人的賞賜。本篇採ABABABAB的架構，A是惡人的終局，B是義人的賞賜，成為何等的對比。 vv.1-2是惡人的表象與終局，表象是成功亨通、讓人忌妒、心懷不平、感到焦慮，但是真相是不管惡人如何發旺，都像青草、青菜快要枯乾、凋殘。如同在林前3章提到草木禾稭，不管事業做多大，成功掌聲多大，到最後在一場大火中都要成為無有。 相對的，vv.3-6是義人將要得到的賞賜，不要羨慕惡人，要單單倚靠神；以神的信實為糧（呂－安安穩穩的放牧），腳踏實地做事；並且以神為樂（呂－對神有絕妙樂趣），不以地上的事為樂，而以神為生命的喜樂。這樣的人，神要把我們心中所求的賜給我們，並且v.6生命會有很大的光采、光榮，是在公義、公平、正直中的喜樂。 vv.7-8兩次提到不要心懷不平，雖然在vv.3-6已經明白神給義人的獎賞，但是在惡人亨通，各種讓人生氣的事情前面，仍然會讓我們心懷不平，這場仗不是一次得勝，而是多次，每個時刻要做出選擇、拒絕罪惡、選擇神的道路。 面對惡人，要很謹慎我們的1）言語（默然），2）忍耐（耐性），3）情緒憤怒（怒氣），因為這些會讓我們跟著惡人一起作惡。vv.9-10這裡提到惡人將要受的刑罰，被剪除，歸於無有，無法承受地土；短暫有榮耀，但是沒有根基。 vv.12-15是惡人的計謀，拔弓拉刀要攻擊義人，向義人咬牙，但是神正在工作；惡人咬牙，神發笑；惡人拔弓抽刀，但是刀要刺入己心，弓要被折斷。 vv.16-19 是義人的賞賜，即便看起來擁有的不多，看來會遭遇急難飢荒，但是卻被神扶持與保護，得著飽足。 vv.20-22是惡人的終局，要像羊羔的脂油被燒滅，或是像野草一樣凋謝，或是雖然一時看似豐富榮耀，但那只是草上的花，立刻就要消滅了。借貸卻不償還，必被咒詛。 vv.23-33是義人將要得著的獎賞，腳步穩妥；神喜愛義人之路；即便有失腳，卻被神保護，神用手來扶持他；他的後代也要大大的蒙福（呂－使人蒙祝福）；their children will be a blessing）；承受地土；充滿智慧、真理、公平；在惡人圍繞時神正在保護，即便面對審判也可以得勝。 vv.34-36 又再次提到惡人的終局，v.34親眼看見惡人遭報，看似大有勢力、強橫可怖、挺然高聳（呂），好像青翠樹木生長，但有人經過卻找不到。 vv.37-40又回到義人的獎賞，和平人（呂－寧靜人）將會有好的結局，必得救；神作患難時的營寨（新－避難所），蒙神解救。 整篇詩篇，不斷用青草、拔弓抽刀、羊羔脂油、青翠樹木來形容惡人，不管如何有勢力，但是至終要面對神的刑罰、審判。相反的，義人在看似危險、危難的環境中，卻被神保護、被神高舉、得著榮耀、後代蒙福。神常常把兩條路擺在我們面前，我們應當勇敢做出選擇。 五、反省問題： 惡人渴望有人與他一起作惡，我是否落入這樣的危機中？當如何改變？ 對比義人與惡人的路，我正走在哪一條路上？ －－－－－－－－－－－－－－－－ 講員： 貴格會合一堂 徐坤靖牧師 聖經之鑰-各卷書播放清單： https://thfc.pse.is/3epsdf 【聖經之鑰 相關資源】YouTube： https://thfc.pse.is/3cfams電子書： https://thfc.pse.is/3ccluu Powered by Firstory Hosting

He picks up a pretty hitch-hiker before he's an hour down the road.The problem with Television programs these days is that… they are mostly total rubbish. Soaps, reality or competitions of one sort of another. Even nature programs have a ‘message'. If I watch anything it is sport, mostly but not football, ever (that's soccer if you live on the other side of the pond). Sports programs tend to carry a lot of advertising and that's when I channel hop, or make a cup of tea. It was on one such channel hopping sessions that I came across a little item on the White Tailed Eagle.I'm not a twitcher. I don't rush all over the country to try and see a rare, off course, migrant but I do enjoy birds, feathered and unfeathered. In fact I enjoy pretty much anything to do with nature or history, the older the better. That's history not birds, you understand?It seems that the White Tailed eagle was re-introduced to Scotland back in the 90's and had done well. They had a plan to re-introduce it to the Isle of Wight in Southern England the following year, 2019. I'd not seen a White Tailed eagle, in the wild before.Of course I could have waited a year or two then taken a trip to the Isle of Wight, maybe a little over two hours from home, spot the birds and still back home for tea. Like I said, I'm not a twitcher but I am retired and filling time with enjoyable activities is what retirement is all about. Google took less than 10 seconds to tell me that White Tailed eagles were resident in North West Scotland (all year round). That was it then, sorted!The following morning I organised everything I would need. That afternoon I prepared and provisioned the van and loaded it up ready for a reasonably early start the following morning. I say reasonably because I didn't want to hit the motorways during the rush hour. I lived about an hour twenty from the nearest motorway so planned on leaving about 8 to 8:30 ‘ish.Up with the lark and the rain was hammering down on the glass of the conservatory roof. I could barely hear myself think much less hear the 'snap, crackle and pop' of my breakfast cereal. Should have checked the weather forecast I muttered to myself as I put my wellington boots next to the 'things forgotten' bag by the front door.The app said things would brighten up around 9 so I made another cup of tea and double checked that nothing else needed to go in the bag. By 9:10 things had indeed brightened up so I made a dash for the van and got on my way. By 9:30 I was approaching the main road with my windscreen wipers clicking back and forth on slow. Traffic wasn't too bad and we were making 40mph on a 50mph road. At the crest of the big hill behind Brighton I looked ahead into the valley where there was always a bit of a bottleneck. Sure enough the vehicles in the nearside lane were, essentially, stationary. As my eyes travelled back up the line of cars ahead I spotted a figure standing at the beginning of a layby. Hitch-hiker? Hadn't seen one of them in donkey's years. Needless to say nobody was stopping and 'it', the hitch-hiker was getting soaked with spray from the passing wheels.My mind went back to the days of my youth. Bin there, done that. Instant decision, if 'it' looks respectable then I'd offer a lift. If 'it' didn't I'd be turning off just up the road/or not and offer a lift that far. If all looked good? I'd play it by ear. The rear view camera showed 'it' hauling the big rucksack onto it's back and striding purposely towards the vehicle.As I'd passed I noticed that both the waterproofs and the rucksack had the same logo that my bad weather equipment had. So, at least whoever it was it was probably outdoorsy and had the sense and the wherewithal to buy decent equipment. I pressed the button and lowered the nearside window just as a pretty, elfin face appeared above the window's sill. She smiled delightedly.“Thanks for stopping,” she laughed happily.“Where you headed?” I grinned back.I decided that I was definitely going that way.“Anywhere?”“Scotland?”“Scotland? The UK police are using a new detection system to alert motorists who use mobile phones while driving. Police departments in Thames Valley and Hampshire recently developed a new sensor with help from technology company Westcotec. In developing the sensor, the police wanted to make people more aware of the perils of simultaneously using a phone and driving. They also intended to use the sensor to pinpoint areas where there are many instances of mobile phone use among drivers. This sensor is a road-side sign showing a mobile phone in a red circle with a diagonal line across it. It detects phone signals from passing cars. Then, it flashes an LED warning sign to deter drivers from using their phones while driving. Two sensors have been installed and are currently being used on the A34 road in Oxfordshire. More sensors will be set up at different locations throughout the Thames Valley and Hampshire, where over a hundred people have died or have been critically injured since 2014 due to negligent drivers using their phones. The Royal Automobile Club showed support for the new detection system. According to a representative, the technology would help drivers be more focused while driving and discourage some from using their phones. In spite of the sensor's potential to help drivers, the device has some disadvantages. For one, the sensor cannot distinguish whether the driver or the front-seat passenger is using the mobile phone. Also, at £6,000 per unit, it is expensive.

Synthesis of ribosomal RNA by RNA polymerase (Pol) I is the first step in ribosome biogenesis and a regulatory switch in eukaryotic cell growth. In this thesis a reproducible large-scale purification protocol for Pol I from S. cerevisiae could be developed. Crystals were obtained, diffraction to < 4 Å could be recorded, however, the enormously complex non-crystallographic symmetry impeded structure solution. Switching to cryo-electron microscopy, the structure of the complete 14-subunit enzyme could be solved to 12 Å resolution, a homology model for the core enzyme could be generated, and the crystal structure of the subcomplex A14/43 could be solved. In the resulting hybrid structure of Pol I, A14/43, the clamp, and the dock domain contribute to a unique surface interacting with promoter-specific initiation factors. The Pol I-specific subunits A49 and A34.5 form a heterodimer near the enzyme funnel that acts as a built-in elongation factor, and is related to the Pol II-associated factor TFIIF. In contrast to Pol II, Pol I has a strong intrinsic 3’-RNA cleavage activity, which requires the C-terminal domain of subunit A12.2, and apparently enables rRNA proofreading and 3’-end trimming.
