Episode 7: Hera PheriRelease date: 2000In this week's episode, we go back two decades in time to discuss one of Bollywood's top comedy films ‘Hera Pheri'. This movie is a remake of the 1989 Malayalam film Ramji Rao Speaking which was inspired by the 1971 film See the Man Run. The cast had Paresh Rawal, Akshay Kumar, Suneil Shetty, Tabu, Om Puri, Mukesh Khanna, Khulbhushan Kharbanda, and Gulshan Grover. The film was directed by Priyadarshan who is a renowned filmmaker in Malayalam, Tamil, and Hindi film industries. Hera Pheri had an average run at its theatre release but went on to garner a cult following when it was released on cable TV channels later. Paresh Rawal's character ‘Baburao Ganpat Apte' became an iconic character in the history of Bollywood and had the best lines in the movie laced with sarcasm and humor. He had a clean sweep in awards show that year capturing the best comic actor awards at Filmfare, Screen, and IIFA awards. Here Pheri dialogues have also given birth to some of the most popular memes on social media. Minal watched it a year after its release on TV while Benny watched it only recently for this episode and they both had quite a few thoughts about whether the movie retains its comic charm even after two decades. Tune in to the episode to find out. Synopsis:Raju (Akshay Kumar) and Shyam (Suneil Shetty) are 2 unemployed young men in debt and renting a room in the house of Baburao Ganpat Apte (Paresh Rawal). Baburao owns Star Garage but is also in severe debt with his creditors. A wrong number to his garage's landline results in the 3 getting involved in a kidnapping plot to make some quick bucks. The chaos that ensues forms the second half of the film.IMDB Link: Hera PheriWhere to Watch: YouTubeFunny Scenes:Every Phone Call of BaburaoHelmet SceneTrivia: https://www.newsbytesapp.com/news/entertainment/hera-pheri-completes-21-years-fun-facts/storyMusic from #Uppbeat (free for Creators!): https://uppbeat.io/t/hey-pluto/the-paradeLicense code: MIE1N7HAVI6KJOSGContact Us:Email: thetalkingtalkies@gmail.com Twitter: @_talkingtalkiesInstagram @_talkingtalkiesBenny (@RealBennyMan) / Twitter

This week on ‘Has It Aged Well?' we turn the clock back to the 80s for a film that served as a comeback vehicle for Rekha but is also known for giving crocodiles their fair share of fame in Bollywood. Yes, we are indeed talking about the cult classic ‘Khoon Bhari Maang'. Joining hosts Abbas and Urjita is stand-up comedian and writer Aayushi Jagad, who went above and beyond in showing her dedication to the movie by turning up in the iconic contact lenses and make up that Rekha sports in the film. 10/10 for dedication. Topics discussed include: The costume and make-up choices for Rekha, Kabir Bedi's butt, animal sidekicks and why we don't see them anymore, Rajesh Roshan's audacity at copying the tune from ‘Chariots of Fire', the killer croc and its choices, Tom Alter as Amrikan doctor, the bizarrest comedic subplot starring Shobha Khote, Kader Khan being creepy and comedic, the film's feminist messaging and much more. What's in this episode: Bindhumalini starts with her journey into the world of music and her formal education across 2 graduate degrees, a Post Graduate Degree and a Diploma across various areas. The learning for us starts, right from the first few moments of this episode! And there's more to come.. Some of the questions she responds to and thoughts she articulates are : Trials and failures - or is there something called failure - importance of having fun What made her choose the not so convention route in music ? Questions on who I am and why certain things are done, need to look at music from a fresh perspective. The need to break things down and then reconstruct and the exciting possibilities that emerge Being immersed in music also creating a demand Curiosity vs rebellion Importance of saying "I don’t know" to children What Kabir means to her and how her sister's book helped in that How she sees music and the importance of lyrics How it is important to listen to music for anyone to be able to produce music She then shares how she felt when she heard about winning the National Award and how something like this can never be a goal. And why she is extra happy about that particular song and movie! YourStory Founder and CEO Shradha Sharma recently caught up with the critically-acclaimed actor on YourStory Inspirations series to talk about Vidya Balan’s incredible and inspiring journey so far. Nepotism in Bollywood, has been a hotly debated topic for several years, and more so now. There are, of course, exceptions to the rule such as superstar Shah Rukh Khan who transitioned successfully from being a TV star to becoming the ‘Badshah of Bollywood’, without any connections or backing in the industry. However, the general impression is that for an outsider without any Bollywood connections or mentors, it’s difficult to survive, let alone thrive. But Vidya has thrived and how. Vidya started her film career in 2005 at the age of 26 with the Saif Ali Khan-starrer Parineeta based on the Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay novel of the same name, where she essayed an author-backed central character. The film picked up several awards including Vidya bagging the Filmfare award for the best debut. Sorry we haven't gone back to Bollywood just yet! Smytta needed some young energy, so she chose A Death in the Gunj, the remarkable 2016 debut of Konkona Sen Sharma, daughter of the legendary Aparna Sen. Set in 1979, the story centres around Shutu (Vikrant Massey), who tries to recover from a few setbacks in his personal life through a vacation with his cousin Nandu (Gulshan Devaiah) and Nandu's friends and family at an Anglo-Indian house away from the city. However, things don't exactly go as planned... Just like Monsoon Wedding, The Luncbox and The Lift Boy, this is a subtle and ultimately devastating character drama which demands but rewards close attention. Alex enjoys the scenery, Om Puri, and the assured direction. Whilst initially disappointed by the lack of song-and-dance, Smytta admires the character direction and unpacks the nuanced social relations, especially between Shutu and the other male characters. Intrigued? Then jump on your motorbike and join us in the foothills as we discuss A Death in the Gunj!
The legend of Bollywood music, who surpassed the record of legendary Kishore Kumar for most consecutive Filmfare award wins – Kumar Sanu is the guest for the show Game Changers. A voice that is undoubtedly the epitome of 90s male playback singing but has been mysteriously away from the limelight in the past decade. The recent rehashed version of Aankh Maarey from Ranveer Singh's Simmba in ‘Kumar Sanu ke awaaz mein' reminded the audience and introduced the present generation to the crowned king of the early 90s Bollywood music, who had made it to the Guinness World Records by recording 28 songs in a day. His back-to-back Filmfare awards from 1991 through 1995 brought home another record of most-consecutive wins, surpassing legendary Kishore Kumar's four (1983 to 1986). It won't be wrong to say that Sanu had seen glory like no other singer of the 90s. His popularity across continents can be gauged from the fact that Mayor of Dayton, Ohio in the USA, declared March 31 as Kumar Sanu day, a first such honour for an Indian singer. The singer also runs a school and is known for his generous efforts towards society See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

With social media though, times have changed drastically - Instagram is fast replacing page 3, Twitter is fast replacing the sought after movie star quote. There is more knowhow around PR as well, and PR agencies have great control over narratives. There is simultaneously a lot of celebrity content, yet we're still seeking authenticity from our stars. What does this mean for the journalist, and for the agency?Follow Vineet Kanabar on Instagram and Twitter: @ascharyafuckitYou can listen to this show and other awesome shows on the IVM Podcasts app on Android: https://ivm.today/android or iOS: https://ivm.today/ios, or any other podcast app.You can also check out our website at http://www.ivmpodcasts.com/

节目组:The Screen Age 荧屏时代 节目名称:3 idiots 三傻大闹宝莱坞开头曲 We found love引语 M: Hello, my dear friends. Welcome back to the Screen Age. This is your old friend, Mico. PY: This is Hertzfeld. Surprisingly, we have left home for one week. How much I miss the time that has just past. Well, Mico, how about your winter holiday?M: Missing deep as our audience. At the end of the holiday, the only affair which swarmed in my mind was reminiscence of travelling with my friends. And also, the warmness with my relatives in Spring Festival can't fade away.PY: I can't agree more. It seems to lots of people that winter is a season which is not only filled with family affection, but also friendship just like today's movie we introduce.M: I have watched it for many times and was moved every time. I believe we can get lots of insights. PY: Not much to say, so now, let's begin our first program in new term, 3 idiots. 插曲1 Behti Hawa Sa Tha Woh PART 1: F: It is an Indian comedy movie presented by Bollywood. The whole story begins with Farhan's recall to one of his companion, Rancho acted by Aamir Khan in his college life.Y: The whole story is a process of searching for our protagonist, Rancho. Stemming from a bet initiated by Chatur, another student, Farhan and his another bosom friend, Raju were pleasantly surprised for meeting the long lost friend. I: The film lasts for nearly 3 hours using the technique of interleave. It conveys friendship, innovation, education, love through recalling life in college. His college, Imperial College of Engineering is the highest ranking one in the country. The student there have to bear the great pressure for future.B: Chatur was a typical case who blindly chases for success measured by wealth. In contrast of him, Rancho majored in engineering purely for passion and love. He regarded traditional pattern of education as something for nothing.F: Rancho looked at the issue beyond convention. He inspired his two roommates, Farhan and Raju to think differently. He zapped a Senior's private at the first night to avoid a campus tradition, taking off trousers and being sealed as well as fingered Director in the day.Y: Professors kept Rancho mostly out for his undiscipline. However, when thrown out one class, he'd slip into another. He was not alike any of other students. They fought for a shower every morning, but he'd bath wherever he finds water.I: Friendship is one of strengths in the film. Raju was from a poor family with a paralyzed father, an unawed sister and a 24 hour supply from the leaking roof which causes Raju's reply to lord. B: Under the great pressure of dropping out for bad scores, Raju committed suicide. At that time, Rancho and Farhan did everything they could to awaken Raju. Surprisingly, for their great efforts, Raju, ultimately revived.F: Rancho even blamed educational system on Director which accumulated Director's bitterness to him. Dramatically, after delivering Director's grandson in a storm with unrealistic conditions, Director was deeply impressed by him and sent him a pen which symbolized the highest honor.Y: At the end of the movie, they found Rancho, now a hot scientist while stayed in a school to teach children on science. The old college friends met again. 插曲 2 A Sky Full of Stars PART 2: PY: The famous Indian actor, Aamir Khan acted as Rancho in the movie. He was born on March 14, 1965 in Mumbai in a conservative Muslim family which has been part of Hindi Film Industry for a long time. M: Since she belonged to a Hindu family and he from devout Muslim family, they faced opposition and therefore they married secretly, later they revealed it to the world after his debut movie as lead Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak in 1988. The film was a run-away success and he achieved instant stardomA: Aamir is said to be the actor who first started the trend of actor's working in one film at a time, when the others worked in four or five at the same time. He is also known to shun popular film trade magazine awards like Filmfare, Star Screen, etc.L: His range of characterizations remains unparalleled and because of this diversity and his ability to portray different characters believably on screen, today he is regarded as not only one of the biggest Superstars but also one of the finest actors of Indian Cinema. 插曲3 Give Me Some SunshinePART 3: L: “Whatever the problem in life is just say to yourself ‘Aal Izz Well' This won't solve your problems but it will give the courage to face it.” The golden rule which 3 idiots teach us in a very light and entertaining way. A: The movie deals with the present education system in India that whether getting more marks and better grades is better than gaining knowledge and is mugging up everything more useful than understanding it.M: Film's music sounds mediocre but when viewed on the screen then the music sounds perfect. Cinematography is awesome and so is the direction. PY: Aamir does it again. What a movie, from start to the end, hilarious moments. Aamir and Hirani have delivered the best movie of 2009. Do ourselvies a favour by seeing this highly emotional and feel good comic entertainer. 插曲 4 Give Me Some Sunshine 结束语 Y: So this is today's movie, hope you like it.F: The new term has begun, cling to your dream, we hope everyone can make great progress and live for the better one.Y: See you next time, 最后感谢制作张安康,Bye.F: Bye.

Grammy award-winning backing singer Lisa Fischer has been performing with The Rolling Stones since 1989. She says duetting with Mick Jagger is electric, "he's unpredictable and he's exciting and he's mischievous". Lisa grew up in a musical family and trained to be an opera singer, but soon swapped the theatre for the New York club scene. She describes Luther Vandross as her mentor; he taught her to "wait, listen and don't sing while I'm trying to teach you the part". Lisa says the key to being a good backing singer is to listen to what the artist says, and to "what they don't say". Kanika Kapoor is an award-winning performer who has made her name as a 'playback' singer in Indian cinema. Leading actresses in the all-singing, all-dancing Bollywood musical blockbusters mime to her vocals. Kanika says you have to "become" the actress, because "body language has to come out of your vocals". She was classically trained from a young age, but her voice has only recently become the soundtrack of some of India's biggest films. She sang the song Lovely for Deepika Padukone in the hit movie Happy New Year and recently won the Filmfare award for Best Female Playback Singer, for the song Baby Doll.
