Rooted in Xicana indigenous feminism and DIY punx praxis, NPP will be launching a Harm-Reduction Eating Disorders program specifically for BICC, which Gloria discusses with me during this episode.

In this episode of Checking In, we hear from Sara, a listener who has struggled with an eating disorder for over a decade. She wants to know what recovery looks like, and she also notes that as a Black woman, she feels that eating disorders are seen as taboo in her community. Carolyn talks to psychiatrist Dr. Erikka Dzirasa about how racial bias can create significant barriers to treatment for BIPOC who live with eating disorders. They also discuss the benefits of a multifaceted approach to treatment, as well as the hope and joy in recovery. Show Notes The following show notes have been compiled with help from Checking In podcast producer Andrea Betanzos. Thank you, Andrea, for all your work and help with this episode! There are so many great resources for Black, indigenous, and other people of color to find and build the support team they need. Here are some people, organizations, and resources to check out: Project HEAL’s goal is to serve people with eating disorders who aren't being served by the current system. You can apply for support through their treatment access programs, and they also offer resources for navigating insurance. If you're looking for community, try Nalgona Positivity Pride, an “in-community eating disorders and body-positive organization dedicated in creating visibility and resources for Black, Indigenous, communities of color (BICC.).” As part of Nalgona Positivity Pride, Sage + Spoon is a support group created by and for people of color and indigenous groups. Registered dietician Whitney Trotter published the BIPOC Eating Disorder Providers list, a resource to find providers for your specific needs. Not sure how to educate your support system?

The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Denver Post and Philadelphia Post along with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are hosting a series of webinars based on talks given at recent Design and Construction Issues at Hazardous Waste Sites (DCHWS) Symposiums. The mission of the DCHWS symposiums is to facilitate an interactive engagement between professionals from government and the private sector related to relevant and topical issues affecting applications of engineering and science associated with cleaning up hazardous waste sites. The symposiums also serve as a platform to facilitate the exchange of information, encourage dialogue, share experiences, and build and enhance communication among design and construction professionals. This presentation will highlight work at the BICC Cables Site, a former cable manufacturing facility whose operation led to contamination of on-site soil and sediment by polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), has been the subject of remediation efforts since 2005. The impacted sediment could not be efficiently and safely removed by dredging as a result of horizontal and vertical spatial limitations, safety concerns, and the heavy debris content. Therefore, an engineering control was required to contain and treat the PCB impacted sediment. In addition to the engineering challenges posed by the site conditions, the need to work within the waters of the Hudson River created an extremely complex regulatory context. The presentation will discussion a Multi-Layer Sediment Cover System (SCS) engineering control which was designed and implemented to contain and treat the PCB-impacted sediment under the 29,500-square-foot EPRI Building in the Hudson River. In addition, SCS Remote Sensing System load cells with fiber optic cables were installed to monitor long-term movement and integrity of the SCS. Proactive stakeholder engagement was necessary to navigate the project through the two-year permitting process by leading numerous design presentations and negotiation sessions with the five regulatory agencies. Routinely adjusting the installation approach and construction schedule were also necessitated by the nature of working in a dynamic water body. God fornøjelse i Dataklubben.
The Story of Chicago Deep Dish Pizza Bic, Inc. (or Bicc, Incc.) The Story of Las Vegas Trial by Bean
Coffee prices have hit astronomical lows, with farmers on average receiving less than a dollar per pound of coffee. In response, specialty roasters around the world have began publishing how much they pay for coffee. While many are paying higher than a dollar per pound, that number sort of doesn't mean anything if farmers aren't covering their basic costs—perhaps the $2.50 per pound your local roaster promises to pay their farmers only helps a farmer break even. We need to answer a fundamental question: "How much does it cost to produce a pound of coffee?" Caryn and Mike Nelson of Junior's Roasted Coffee in Portland, Oregon, decided to answer that question. Coming to you live from Nightshift Brewery in Everett, Mass., in partnership with the Boston Intersectional Coffee Collective (BICC), we present "The Cost of Production," a event series that looks at what it costs to produce coffee and what it means to pay farmers fairly. The speakers at this event present information and findings not seen anywhere else, so if you care about coffee pricing and farmer sustainability, this episode is a must-listen. Thank you to Caryn and Mike Nelson for putting this event series on, to Kristina Jackson and everyone at the BICC, to Rob Rodriguez and Rose Woodard over at Nightshift Brewery, and to all the amazing speakers at this event. I learned more about coffee than I have at any other event I've attended.

We invited Wayne to the podcast to talk about his “federated approach” to a successful BICC. Wayne covers the main reasons why BICCs don’t succeed and shares his thoughts on what’s changed and what’s disrupted the notion of BICC. We also discuss the roles and the types of people you need for a BICC “dream team.” Why a taking what Wayne calls a “federated approach” is the key to success in your BI Competency Center. What is a Competency Center why is it important. Why a BICC should be a ‘Business Intelligence Confidence and Credibility Center’ to be successful. How to 0vercome the 3 biggest BICC challenges: business vs IT needs, top down vs bottom up data, and efficiency vs effectiveness. Wayne’s advice on how to get business owners to take ownership of BI initiatives. Wayne cracks the code on what the BICC team should look like. How BI Directors should deal with shadow IT. Who should market the BI solutions and why. One of the biggest mistakes most companies make when setting up their BICC. The brutal truth about outsourcing (when it comes to BI). Wayne’s tips on how BI Directors should deal with shadow IT. Get full show notes and more information here: http://analyticsonfire.com/6
Black Hat Briefings, Europe 2007 [Audio] Presentations from the security conference.
"SS7 has been a walled garden for a long time: only big telcwould be interconnected tthe network. Due tderegulation and a push toward all-IP architecture, SS7 is opening up, notably with SIGTRAN (SS7 over IP) and NGN (Next Gen Networks) initiatives. SCTP is the protocol used tcarry all telecom signalling information on IP according tthe SIGTRAN protocol suite. It's the foundation, as TCP is the foundation for the web and email. SCTP is alsused for high-performance clusters, resources pooling and very high-speed file transfer. When you discover open SCTP ports, you discover a secret door tthis walled garden. As a walled garden, the internal security of the SS7 network is not as good as one might expect. SCTPscan is a tool tdexactly just that, and is released as open source. This presentation will explain how SCTPscan manages tscan without being detected by remote application, how discrepancies between RFC and implementation enable us tscan more efficiently and how we manage tscan without even being detect by systems like SANS - Dshield.org. Here we will have a look at INIT packet construction, stealth scanning and a beginning of SCTP fingerprinting. Then, we gon tdetail upper layer protocols that use SCTP and the potentials of the SIGTRAN protcol suite in term of security. We'll see the M2UA, M3UA, M2PA, IUA which are SIGTRAN-specific protocols, and alsthe more generic SS7 protocols such as ISUP, BICC, BSSAP, TCAP, SCCP and MTP.
