A little LATE NIGHT #TuesdayTalkwithLB and boy is this a good one! I got to talk with Federal Wildlife Biologist Briana 'Bre' Stewart. We met through mutual friend, Blake Hall, a couple years ago at the Docks, and I loved her immediately. Bre told me about growing up in Alabama, catching crawfish and shooting black birds. We started off by her telling me about graduating college with a bachelor's degree in Biology only to leave her 9-5 job for a 6 month turkey technician job. Not knowing the doors it would open, and the path ahead of her, she embodied every part of the journey. She told me about putting transmitters on Eastern turkeys in Alabama, and all the incredible data that comes from that. Bre told me about her day to day as a Federal Wildlife Biologist, and then we dove into conservation. We talked about as hunters, we are also conservationist because if you aren't a conservationist then you won't be a hunter anymore. And as always, we wrapped up with some advice! Bre is absolutely incredible & I am so thankful to know her. Thanks for listening to another #TuesdayTalkwithLB . @lb_laurenbrady.Sponsored by @southern_prairie_outfitters@rigemright@campbells_hillside_kennels@huck_outdoors

Don't think I would forget, as my favorite 60 days out of the year have finally come to an end, I decided to circle up with people from this duck season to get their highs and lows. I started off with Kelsie Schulte and got her highs and lows of this duck season out in Kansas. She told me about their first year of running guided hunts with Old Monterey Outfitters. Then, I got to talk with Zack Randall of Reaper Boats about his highs and lows. He told me about starting a new boat company and what that has been like this season. Next up, was Rob Kinney. Rob told me about getting to hunt with his brother Ben in Tennessee after Ben's tragic accident this summer. Blake Hall then told me about his duck season, and what he is looking forward to this spring fishing in the Pro Circuit. Chris Huckabay told me about hunting with new people this season, and how thankful he was for his original crew but hitting the road this year was a high. I then got to talk with Anna Richardson about her first season in Arkansas and what her highs and lows were. I caught up with Grayson Williams, and she told me about killing ducks at her new property and looking forward to turkey season! .Thank you for listening to the Lauren Brady Podcast #TuesdayTalkwithLB

This episode, I jumped on the phone with a lot of people who have crossed my path this duck season and asked them their highs and lows of this past duck season. Blake Hall, Alora Babb, Spencer Halford, David Frisbie, Rob Kinney, Luke Cramlet, Kirk Emerson, Anna Richardson, and Jed Lamb all give their answers and we talk a little bit about the upcoming seasons - snow goose hunting and turkey season. This duck season for me was full of laughter and life lessons. I got to travel more than I ever have and hunt places I never have. I got to experience life and try to handle all the crazy things it has to throw at me. Someone once asked me, 'Why do you like duck hunting so much?' It was simple - It's the opportunity that tomorrow will be that much better, that maybe the weather will be perfect, and the ducks will do it right. The opportunity to meet new people and see familiar faces. The laughter that fills the blinds, and the stillness that calms the woods. There's nothing else in the world like it. #TuesdayTalkwithLB
Army Veteran Blake Hall shares what life was like after leaving the Army, insight to the future of online identification, and shares what a lot of entrepreneurs forget to do when pitching their ideas to investors.
Why isn't it easy to securely prove your identity online? That's the big question Blake Hall is working to solve with ID.me, the next-generation digital identity network, that is now used by government agencies, healthcare organizations, and retailers alike. A third-generation soldier, Blake started his post-college life leading a reconnaissance platoon in Iraq, for which he was awarded two Bronze Stars. With a Harvard MBA in hand, he set out to build ID.me and has scaled it to over 24 million users. Blake shares the big pivots he took in his early startup years, what his military career taught him about leadership, and why ID.me has credentialed 30% of all nurses in the country to give back during Covid-19.
On this episode of the Startup of the Year Podcast, Frank Gruber talks with US veteran startup founders Blake Hall and Kimberly Citizen about how their military experience helped them with their roles as startup entrepreneurs. Blake Hall is the founder of ID.me, a digital identification platform where individuals can verify who they are online and receive discounts and benefits if they are part of groups like first responders, the military, students or teachers. Blake was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor for leading his men during a firefight against insurgents and credited with saving twenty American lives. Blake also obtained an MBA from Harvard Business School. Kimberly Citizen is another US veteran and an Inc. 5000 Entrepreneur. She is the CEO at Applied Development, that champions the rights of people of all abilities to work and communicate effectively through sign language interpretation, reader services, advocacy, and outreach. 87: Blake Hall is the Co-Founder and CEO of ID.me, a digital identity wallet designed to empower consumers to prove their identity online while controlling how their personal data is shared. ID.me was selected by the United States Department of Commerce as one five companies to participate in the President's National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace in 2013. A Finalist for Wall Street Journal Startup of the Year in 2013, ID.me was also included in the June 2014 issue of Entrepreneur Magazine as one of 100 Brilliant Companies for 2014. A veteran of the Iraq war, Blake led a platoon of scouts and snipers hunting high value targets in Iraq for fifteen months from July 2006 - September 2007. He was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor for heroism during a firefight against Al-Qaida affiliated insurgents attacking an American hospital in Mosul, Iraq in an action senior commanders credited with saving twenty American lives. Blake has written for The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Foreign Policy, and Forbes. Thanks to The Economist, Blake holds the distinction of being the first Google result for the phrase 'muscly entrepreneur.' Blake attained a Bachelor of Science magna cum laude from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8v9eE6QLmk&feature=youtu.be ID.me began as a tool that allowed members of the military to securely submit and prove their identity online. This new capability gave military members access to the thousands of discounts and exclusive savings they could previously only receive in-store because merchants had no way to check a physical ID card online. Soon after, we began to issue digital ID cards for students, first responders, and teachers as well. The success of those projects led us to wonder: why doesn't digital identity work like identity in the physical world where people have ID cards they can easily display to prove their identity? To make trusted online interactions more convenient, we built ID.me, a secure digital wallet, to store all of your digital ID cards so that you can easily prove your identity and group statuses online. Your ID.me wallet login – the e-mail and password you create when you sign up with ID.me – will always remain the same even as you add more and more digital ID cards to your wallet. One thing that hasn't changed is our promise to our members: your personal information belongs to you. You, and only you, control how your information is shared while ID.me deploys bank-grade encryption to keep your data safe at all times.
Troop ID is an identity service provided by ID.me, a group that's created digital ID cards for members of the military community, first responders, students and other groups where individuals can tie attributes about themselves and share that in a privacy enhancing and user centric way across the web, says Matthew Thompson, cofounder and COO at ID.me. Thompson and his partner, Blake Hall, are both veterans and met while attending Harvard Business School. The two connected over the challenge of accessing benefits online and how there was no easy way to do it. With more than 250,000 users already, ID.me is going to use the pilot finds to enhance the current product beyond the level one credential currently offered.
As America and the people of Iraq are challenged to make sense of the decade that followed the U.S. invasion of Iraq, tens of thousands of people who witnessed the violence and the cauldron of change that accompanied the fall of Saddam Hussein are not here to testify. In their eyes is a story of sacrifice, of lives wasted of children never permitted to grow up. Imagine telling the story of the war in Iraq from the perspective of one young Iraqi who cared deeply about his country and who also worked on the front lines as an Arabic interpreter. He was forced to consider danger at the edge of the conflict and the vulnerable Iraqis — his friends and neighbors — that he wanted to protect. It's a story of the war through one young man named Muhammad, and nicknamed Roy to protect his identity and that of his family. Blake Hall is a former Army captain. He led a reconnaissance platoon in Iraq from July 2006 to September 2007. Ibrahim is a former interpreter for the U.S. Army and Mohammed's cousin.
