The Government is announcing £24 million will be spent on research to improve the productivity and sustainability of the fishing industry. It's part of the £100 million UK Seafood Fund which was announced at the start of the year to support the fishing industry post Brexit. Caz Graham speaks to one of the scientists who will get part of the money about what the future of fishing holds - from more sustainable gear to robotic fish processing units. After the cancellation of so many agricultural shows over the last 18 months, Caz Graham visits Westmorland County Show to talk about the latest trends in livestock breeding. And as E10 petrol is introduced to filling stations across Great Britain, we hear why it could be good news for farmers but is not without its pitfalls. Presented by Caz Graham Produced for BBC Audio in Bristol by Heather Simons
When you next fill up your car with petrol, you should be able to use E10 fuel. 10% of E10 is from biofuels, made with wheat or sugar beet. Farmers are welcoming the rollout, while conservationists warn using land for fuel rather than food could change land use and put pressure on biodiversity, and possibly lead to importing more food. We hear from arable farmer Tom Bradshaw and Professor Patricia Thornley of the Supergen BioEnergy Hub. And as part of our week looking at livestock breeding, how slower grown rare breed Hebridean sheep are used for conservation grazing. Presented by Anna Hill and produced by Beatrice Fenton.
UN SAYS LEADED PETROL IS NO MOREThe UN has announced that the last country to sell leaded petrol to the public has now stopped. Algeria was the last of 80 odd countries that used this petrol well into the 2000s. The announcement was made on the eve of E10 unleaded petrol being mandated in the UK. FEARS OVER PLANS TO SCRAP TRAILER AND HEALTH TESTSThe Government is proposing changing the requirement for an additional test, those who wish to tow a trailer and do not meet the exemptions. This is concerning as this is in place due to safety reasons, therefore to discard them seems dangerous. To read more, click the Motoring Research article here. Additionally, the British Medical Association has expressed fears that the Government is seeking to circumvent the medical assessments required for some drivers, including HGV. This, as well as the trailer test issue, are all suggestions to get around the backlog that has built and the subsequent shortage of lorry drivers the country is facing. Hello and welcome to the ZimmCast. Last week I attended the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, working primarily in the Buffalo Chip Campground with the Renewable Fuels Association. This is the 8th out of the last ten years I've had this opportunity. I get to work with a group of great people, creating content during the various sponsorship activities. It is both an educational as well as promotional effort. The focus is on helping motorcycle riders understand the value and safety of using an E10 blend of ethanol and gas in their machines. All motorcycle manufacturers warranty this fuel. Robert White, VP of Industry Relations for RFA, spearheads this project and has done so for all of the 13 years the organization has been involved with the Sturgis Rally. I talked to him about how things went this year as we were wrapping up the activities. The Free Fuel Happy Hours on the Buffalo Chip property is the major component of RFA's activities as bikers line up to fill their bikes with E10, 93 octane, fuel. It provides a great opportunity to talk one on one with bikers about ethanol and answer questions they may have. I spoke with several of the folks who came through and thought I'd share what they had to say. RFA pumped more than 3,000 gallons of fuel during the four days of Free Fuel Happy Hours for three hours per day. So, that's the ZimmCast for this week. Thank you for listening.

What's the difference between E10, E15, and E85 gas? From the U.S. Energy Information Administration https://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.php?id=27&t=10 and Popular Mechanic https://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/car-technology/a25135/guide-to-fuel/All gasoline engine vehicles can use E10. Currently, only flex-fuel and light-duty vehicles with a model year of 2001 or newer are approved by the EPA to use E15. Flex-fuel vehicles can use any ethanol-gasoline blends up to E85.Pros• Ethanol helps the fuel meet federal air-pollution regulations. It reduces tailpipe emissions of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, benzene, and fine particulates.• Ethanol contributes to fulfilling the national energy independence goals presented in the 2005 Energy Policy Act and extended under the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007.• Ethanol is a powerful octane booster—a fuel additive that prevents the fuel charge from preigniting in the cylinder, which leads to engine knocking and poor performance.Cons• With 33 percent less energy content than gasoline, ethanol actually lowers your gas mileage.• Ethanol is known to ruin small engines, especially two-stroke, because of its tendency to separate from the gasoline.• By growing corn for ethanol, farmers reduce the land being used to grow corn for food, raising the consumer price of corn.• Ethanol is highly corrosive, forcing auto manufacturers to use more expensive stainless-steel components. When should you use premium vs. regular gas? From the U.S. Department of Energy https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/octane.shtmlIf your car manufacturer requests higher octane gasoline - use it!Is your car under recall? https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

We are rewinding the Engine Room back to Episodes 6 to 10 to replay the last segment of the show 20 questions in 2 minutes. First up is E6 the Funny Funky Monks Australian Red Hot Chilli Peppers Drummer, Nick Romano who speaks that fast at times that I misheard one of his answers thinking that he had told me that he was his favorite RHCP drummer, it eventually clicked that he had said Chad Smith! Next up is E7 (part1) Mark Meyer, who ends up correcting me after I messed up asking one of his questions, thanks Mark, no wonder he's been in demand for so many years, he is certainly on the ball! Then it is the Boogie Man, E8 David Lloyd's turn, and I am pleased to say that we got through without any mishaps. Kyrie Anderson E9 is the next in line, and she really did seem to take the game on with determination to succeed, a trait that has resulted in her being an in demand drummer no doubt! And last, but certainly not least, it's the cool cat himself, E10 Jeff Algra's turn to play. I made sure that he had a few "feline" questions ready to get him laughing, which it certainly did! FYI Jess loves cat's so much that he posts a picture of one everyday on Facebook! I have added in a few sound effects again to add to the fun of the segments being strung together, and as nobody commented about not liking it last week I figured that it must be okay. I have a few more interviews coming up in a couple of weeks before I wrap up this series, but in the meantime, I hope that you enjoy hearing everyone from E6 to E10 play 20 questions in 2 minutes. If you have a suggestion for next season's theme please leave a voice message or send an email to banditabout17@gmail.com If there are any drummers that haven't been interviewed for this series and want to do one, please get in touch ASAP or you will miss out! This is incredible. When I first started this podcast, I didn't think very hard about how far I would go with it. There were so many variables- my young kids, my work schedule, time with my spouse, the pandemic. I just didn't know if I could do it all, to be honest. But I found my flow, figured out how far ahead I need to be, and little hacks to make the work easier. I have learned so much- about doing something I love, about making a difference in this world, about doing something for the first time by… just doing it!So when I look back at the past 34 episodes of Determine Our Future, I realize that there are some updates that I either feel I need to do, or want to do. I think one of the best things about podcasts is that you can update them when needed. So I guess I could have gone back and updated each of these three episodes and re-released them. But then I thought… what if I just combined the updates into one great episode, and then if you want to, you can go back and listen to the originals? Here we go. In this episode I will provide updates to E9, E10 and E15. Episode 9 is about the militarization of police and why police officers and departments treat Black people and people of color differently from White people. Episode 10 is about for-profit colleges Globe University and the MN School of Business, that defrauded students with Criminal Justice degrees and other degrees that turned out to be worthless. Finally, Episode 15 is about cancel culture, and its evolving situations, consequences and even meanings in American society. I'm excited to provide updates to the movements of each topic. Let's jump in!Season 2 promotional info, post-roll
In the episode, "The Imperialist Global Mental Health Movement and a Reading of Chapter 5: A Sentence to Bear (S2, E10)," I share how the global mental health movement gained some traction in 2018 with the release of a report published by The Lancet Commission on Global Mental Health and Sustainable Development, which was presented at a lavish summit hosted by the UK. Jhilmil Breckinridge from the Bohr Foundation in India, as well as many mental health advocates, were concerned pointing to its similar Imperialist agenda to make everyone abide by the same philosophy--this time in mental health with only one approved treatment issued by the "experts" in psychiatry, which is the biomedical model. Many worldwide feel that experiential factors weigh more heavily than biological influences regarding mental illness. My personal experience in being completely hammered by an environmental stressor is proven in my memoir, Not As Crazy As You Think. In "Chapter 5: A Sentence to Bear," I reveal how it began. Chapter description:My new eyes sharpen focus on the wretched horror of the city’s poverty-stricken streets as my abdominal pains worsen. When I find Aneesa and share with her my story, before departing for Johannesburg later that afternoon, she sets me up with her trustworthy cab driver, who takes me to a dilapidated motel outside the skirt of New Delhi hours away where I can spill up my guts as a parasite rips me from the inside out. After threat of sexual aggression from the motel staff, I suffer violent vomiting and excretion of massive fluids into the long hours of the night. On time at 6am, my next assigned cabbie Mahander shows up, coming to my rescue. With his kind eyes of compassion, I gain hope that I have a chance at surviving. #India #notascrazyasyouthink #badkarma #mentalillness #mentalhealth #bipolardisorder #Bohrfoundation #globalmentalhealthmovementPlease visit my website at: http://www.notascrazyasyouthink.com/Don't forget to subscribe to the Not As Crazy As You Think YouTube channel @SicilianoJenConnect:Instagram: @jengaita LinkedIn: @jensicilianoTwitter: @jsiciliano

Farming unions in Wales have lost their fight to scrap strict new limits on spreading slurry and fertiliser. The Welsh Parliament has narrowly voted to uphold restrictions designed to clean up Welsh rivers. Farmers however, say they're excessive and could push some smaller farms out of business. As the government consultation into gene edited crops continues, we hear from American scientists using the technology to speed up the growth of tomatoes and change the shape of their vines. The government's doubled the limit of bioethanol allowed in fuel. From September, E10 petrol will be introduced: that's a blend of petrol with up to 10% crop-based biofuel. The Department for Transport says it will reduce carbon dioxide emissions equivalent to taking 350,000 cars off the road - but there are concerns... And councils in Sussex are buying back farmland for rewilding; Adur and Worthing Councils hope it will help them reduce carbon emissions and meet their net zero targets. An Individualized and inclusive approach to healthy eating is the topic and touch point for s8. E10. n133. of the Wait What Really OK brand messaging podcast.Below is Dawn Tucci’s information and her philosophy when it comes to food and wellness. “Growing up, I never had any psychological association with food, we just ate.”“Chocolate is not a problem till we make it a problem.”“It's not just the foods we eat but the way we think about them”Dawn Tucci shares an individualized and inclusive approach to eating that honors cultural and personal preferences. As a dietitian with an in depth understanding of human physiology and how foods can effect the body, Dawn Tucci is able to come along side individuals on their wellness journey and guide them through the subjective and objective information on nutrition that is out there. In that differentiation and personalization, she assists in finding the right course of action and nourishment for each person based on them, not on templates, trends or hearsay. Dawn’s array of experiences come from working as a registered dietitian for the pharmaceutical industry, a higher echelon food company and a wellness business. This has allowed her to share an individualized experience of education, empowerment and the choices that can be made from there. This is Stephen Schmidt from the Gazette digital news desk and I'm here with your update for Wednesday, Jan. 27. The snow won't melt much Wednesday, but at least there won't be more of it. According to the National Weather Service, it will be mostly cloudy in the Cedar Rapids area Wednesday with a high of 21 degrees. Although it will gradually become more sunny as the day goes on, don't get too excited, as wind chill values will hover at around 5 degrees below zero. If you are curious about how much snow fell in Iowa, it depended largely on where you lived. Broadly speaking, if your abode is in Eastern Iowa, about 6 inches of snow fell, if you live in Central Iowa, you received a foot or more of snow. Collins Aerospace, the largest employer in Cedar Rapids, will seek $85 million in cost reductions in 2021, according to its parent company Raytheon Technologies' earnings call Tuesday morning. It comes as Collins Aerospace faced a 70 percent drop in adjusted operating revenue and 25 percent drop in adjusted sales in 2020 The “incremental synergies” discussed Tuesday are in addition to $170 million in cost reductions at Collins Aerospace in 2020, which included 72 layoffs in Cedar Rapids, 36 layoffs in Bellevue and 29 layoffs in Decorah. Iowa U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst said Tuesday she does not believe the second impeachment trial for former President Donald Trump is constitutional. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley joined Sen. Ernst on Wednesday in voting to dismiss the charges against Trump. This vote failed, 55 - 45. However, the margin of the vote suggests it will be unlikely that Trump will be convicted for his second impeachment when he is tried again in the Senate. Gov. Kim Reynolds said Tuesday she is looking forward to “building those same relationships” with President Joe Biden and his Environmental Protection Agency staff that she had with the Trump administration to protect biofuels, Reynolds said during Tuesday's virtual Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit. In addition to this, Reynolds said she plans to introduce legislation involving an E10 and B11 fuel standard, a rule requiring new or renovated retail gas pumps to be compatible with higher ethanol blends, a reinvestment of fuel retailer tax credits and $2 million in funding for renewable fuels infrastructure. Iowa Republicans on Tuesday made progress in the legislature on a bills that would eliminate tenure at Iowa's universities; institute a new school choice system in the state that would pay vouchers for students to attend schools of their choosing, including private schools; and instituting a requirement that women be informed that their medicinal abortion can be reversed. It should be noted that the Iowa House heard testimony on Tuesday that claims that medicinal abortions can be reversed are not supported by science, however, the bill would threaten doctors with disciplinary action if they did not comply.

Three years ago I began sharing information on Bug out Bags and Preparedness with you, our listeners. It's ironic that it was September 8th, while preparing a podcast, the Alameda fire began and all of those ideas and plans were tested. Hello everyone I’m Bill Bateman, part of the team here at refuse to be victim personal protection training. This is a very special episode of Survival beyond the Bug out Bag-Preparing for disaster.Instead of reviewing products and general information, I want to look at what worked when I had to evacuate and share real-time product information. I live in Talent, one of the cities that suffered significant damage, and was one of the lucky ones. The flames came with two blocks of my house. There were many who were not so lucky My heart goes out to those who lost it all. Just this morning I passed the all too familiar scene of a person standing in the debris of what was their home and just looking. Some are standing on the sidewalk looking, as if not ready to make those first steps on the property to accept what is in front of them. I know that feeling. I stood with my parents as they shifted through the ashes of our family home following the Panorama fire in Nov of 81. I feel your pain.A giant thank you to the firefighters and all of the first responders. Also a big thank you to the communities involved who came together so quickly to open evacuation centers- and then support them with donations. Thank you.So let's look at what worked, what didn't, and how to reset for the next time.Email comments and suggestions to bill@wits-end.comThe opinions expressed are my own and may not reflect those of the company. Loren talks about some things to look for as well as what to look out for. In a time when so much of the life coaching, business coaching and so many of the so called experts have gone online and are out there saying they have all the answers for your business, it is sad to find that the majority have no place, no authenticity and no authority in their claims.

I was fortunate enough to be able to sit down with Rich Downing (Program Manager/Engineer, Special Show Vehicles and Pace Cars) and Mr. Russ O'Blenes (Director, Performance and Racing - Propulsion Team) From General Motors while at was at SEMA - 2019. Man these guys are easy as cool as their job titles - No BS, Rad Dudes, just like us. They like Cars and Trucks (C10's) no different then most, they just get to work for GM and build really rad stuff there too.
