Prepare with Logan for Marvel Animation's 'Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man' that premieres with weekly episodes on Disney+ starting January 29th. Subscribe and check out more from indie podcast Mostly Superheroes via this link: https://mostlysuperheroes.com/season-5-blogcast/your-friendly-neighborhood-spider-man Unlike the smooth, modern look of “What If…?”, this animated show will harken back to Peter Parker's comic book origins as he begins his journey to become Spider-Man. This version of Peter's life will feature a bunch of new characters, including Nico Minoru, from the Runaways team; a new crush who isn't Mary Jane or Gwen Stacey; Amadeus Cho, who becomes a new Hulk in the comics; a Wakandan exchange student; and Harry Osborn, with Harry's father Norman (voiced by Colman Domingo) serving as Peter's mentor. (Well, at first, anyway.) Charlie Cox will be voicing the role of Daredevil, and Doctor Strange will appear as well (though it's unclear if Benedict Cumberbatch will voice that role). Paul F. Tompkins will voice Bentley Whittman, aka the Wizard. We'll also see some classic Spidey villains, including Unicorn, Chameleon, Scorpion, Speed Demon, Tarantula, Rhino, Butane and Doc Ock. Jeff Trammel (Cartoon Network's “Craig of the Creek”) is the head writer and executive producer. Season 2 is also in the works. MCU Tie-In: Early press materials had indicated that this show is a prequel to the Tom Holland storyline in the MCU, but details unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 — like the appearance of Harry and Norman Osborn — threw cold water on that idea. So: multiverse! Source: Variety ©2025 Carrogan Ventures, LLC

This week on Fabulous Film and Friends it's Spider-verse vs. Snyder-verse as we're boldly entering the portal of current comic book summer movie multiverses and discussing the latest animated Marvel feature Spider-Man, Across the Spider-verse featuring the voices of Shamiek Moore, Hailey Steinfeld, Oscar Isaac, Karan Soni, Daniel Kaluuya and Jason Schwartzman and we're seeing how it stacks up against DC's live action (but barely) The Flash starring Ezra Miller, Michael Keaton, Sasha Calle, Kiersey Clemons, Michael Shannon, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdú and a whole galaxy of blink and you miss them, CGI created celebrity cameos. My guests today are, David Johnson, DMD, Burton Brown, back from a nearly year-long hiatus, and joining us for his first FFF appearance and our first guest representing the millennial generation of filmgoers, author, hypnotherapist and all-around deep-thinker, Joe Field. Before the portal closes, the synopses: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse continues the adventure of Miles Morales, the second Spider-Man who follows his friend Gwen Stacey also known as Spider-Woman, or Spider-Gwen and a team of multi-verse police led by the angry Miguel O'Hara aka Spider-Man 2099 and his new archnemesis, the dimensional portal creating Spot into the Multiverse where he discovers millions of Spider-People from all sorts of dimensions whose lives are affected by the cataclysmic change The Spot has brought upon the multiverse. Or something like that. In the Flash, Barry Allen aka The Flash, having discovered he can travel through time with his ability to run faster than the speed of light, plots to save his mother from being murdered by changing past history. The plot succeeds, except he ends up creating a world where the only superhero who exist besides himself is Michael Keaton's Batman, and they are woefully unprepared to fend off the invasion of Kryptonian General Zod, who was stopped by Superman in the movie Man of Steel. Which multiverse is more appealing? Find out!
We're going interdimensional this week as we talk about the 2018 film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. With the sequel being freshly in theaters, we thought it would be a great time to talk about this triumph of animation. We talk spider-people, the breathtaking animation, comedy, and leaps of faith. On this episode the boys start by discussing some Spider-Man news such as Spider-Man 4 with Tom Holland, a live action Miles Morales movie, and an animated Gwen Stacey spin-off movie. Then they swing right into one their most highly anticipated movies of the summer, "Across the Spider-Verse". When Miles Morales catapults across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. When the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles must redefine what it means to be a hero. (00:00 - Spider-Man News) (04:02 - Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Review)
Spider-Man is BACK! No not the squeaky-voiced Tony Stark-fanboy played by Tom Holland....nope this animated epic features the vaunted return of another Spider-Man from another universe. THIS one is Miles Morales voiced by Shameik Moore who was also the star of this film's Oscar-winning predecessor from five years ago, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. And he's back with his friends and family too, among them Gwen Stacey voiced by Hailee Steinfeld, Peter Parker voiced by Jake Johnson, and Miles' parents voiced by Brian Tyree Henry and Luna Lauren Velez. He also has LEGIONS of new Spider-friends from various different universes voiced by a stacked cast including Issa Rae, Oscar Isaac, and Daniel Kaluuya who plays the ULTIMATE as "Spider-Punk." Every one is involved at various levels with a daunting new mission to keep the various universes from collapsing in on each other and what results is an eye-popping ambitious superhero sequel which many critics are referring to as not only one of the greatest superhero movies ever made but possibly THE greatest animated film EVER. :o Directed by Joachim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Day 5 has Imo and James taking stock of the good, the bad and the Gwen Stacey of 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' (2014). The two critics discuss the bunch of baddies who are squeezed into this sequel: from Jamie Foxx's bullied boffin to the ghost of Stacey's dead police papa to the Nazi doctor minding the patients at Evil Incorporated...sorry, Oscorp. They decide whether it was too soon for Sony to circuit-breaker the franchise, or if Garfield's iteration deserved to be flushed down the water spout after this divisive entry.

Off the success of the Sam Raimi & Tobey Maguire Spider-Man Trilogy it was time for a fresh new idea. So Sony decided to make the same Spider-Man movie again with The Amazing Spider-Man 2012. Well it's a little bit different. It's The Amazing Spider-Man 2!And it's bad! There was a point where I was watching it and I thought to myself: "how come I thought this was bad? So far it seems pretty good..." But, then the bit with his parents started and I remembered exactly why I thought it was bad. Because it is bad. So bad. I really feel for Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone to be honest.Plus!Did you know that Gwen Stacy dies at the end of this film? Well she does and if you're reading this before you've watched it I really have to question what you're doing here and strongly advise you to take my word for it that it's bad and Gwen dies at the end. But, did you know that she also had a pretty infamous death in comics? It's actually a pretty big moment in comics and I also advise you to listen to Part 2 to hear all about it.Also! We do a game like the six degrees of Kevin Bacon but not that but like that. How many link movies will it take you to get from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 back to X2: X Men United. Not bragging but we can do it in two. If you can do it in one then please email or tweet us at the links below. We'll award you a prize or something. Thanks for listening.email isitabirdpod@gmail.comtwitter @isitabirdpod https://twitter.com/isitabirdpod Instagram: search 'isitabirdpod' and look for the usual logoyoutube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeUXLIzqezSGihfXS6p7v5g Merry Christmas one and all.Support the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/isitabird)

More news on the upcoming Spider-Man three quell in the MCU has dropped. Alfred Molina is set to reprise his role as Otto Octavius in the upcoming film, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are reportedly now in talks for the movie and Emma Stone could also be returning as Gwen Stacey from the Amazing Spider-Man films. I breakdown all the news here
It's The Amazing Spider-Man!Maybe it's more average than 'Amazing' but it's better than Spider-Man 3, in fairness. Madge actually rates it above every Spider-nerd's favourite: Spider-Man 2. It's not that she's looking for the controversial take, she just doesn't care about your feelings or opinions. That's what she says, anyway. It does sometimes look like she's enjoying saying it.Plus!Have you ever heard of the 'Clone Saga'? Of course you have but did you know it was awful? Of course you did but do you know the whole rotten story? Of course you don't. You're far too intelligent to have put yourself through it. Worry not though faithful listener. I have boiled down the entire story for your entertainment. Now you never have to.Also!Could Else from Frozen take on the whole Marvel Universe in a fight? We pretty much think that she'd chin the X-Men without breaking a sweat. What do you think though? Yes, you the listener. EPISODE 57Greetings, Explorers! We are taking a look at Marvels. Kurt Busiek wrote the story and Alex Ross illustrated painted it. The series was published by Marvel comics in 1994. Marvels spans the history of the Marvel Universe from the 1930s to the 1970s. News photographer Phil Sheldon has the luck of being in the right spot at the right time for many of Marvel's most famous stories. He witnesses the the first battle of the many battles between Namor and The Human Tourch in the 30s to the death of Gwen Stacey in the 70s and everything in between.Johnny, Frankie, and Dennis start the episode by getting a recap of the story by way of Frankie's incorrect, but not far off, recollection of the book. Additionally, we learn that Doctor Strange may be a high school teacher instead a physician. The gang continues by discussing the effects the Marvels have on the marriage of Phil Sheldon and Doris Jacquet. The gang explorers the analogy of the X-men and the Civil Rights Movement of the 60s role; the unknown life of the mutant girl; and the time Sue Storm married Lou Reed, not Reed Richards. Additional topics include the trope of Women in Refrigerators; why taking Phil Sheldon wants to take a photo with a random kid; and last, but not least, the storytelling and art of Marvels.--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/graphicnovelexplorersclub/message See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Trish is struggling with a MONSTER cold (NOT Covid!!!) that has waylaid her.Jeremy wrapped up his steamy romance and has been preparing for the crazy about to swallow the United States as lock downs and cancellations happen. This month in Pop-Culture History1818 - Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus by 21-year-old Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley was published. It is recognized as the world's first science fiction novel, 1973-Spiderman #121 kills off Gwen Stacey, shocking the readers. It was previously unthinkable to kill off such an important character. Generally, a superhero did not fail this disastrously unless it was part of his or her origin story. 2012-Captain Marvel #1 by Kelly Sue DeConnick premiered, The relaunch of Captain Marvel stands out as being important most of all because Danvers was notoriously a character that was shelved, squandered, and underutilized for decades. Geek Outs Trish's Geek Out!The Lady’s Guide to Celestial Mechanics is a period romance with two delectable lesbian protagonists. It’s an older woman-younger woman romance with so many beautiful layers and a healthy amount of steam. Set in Regency-era England, Catherine is a widow whose husband had been abusive throughout their marriage. Lucy is a brilliant young astronomer who longs to continue her fathers’ work but is being held back by society. The book not only does a beautiful job of showing the growing passion between these two women but uses it to heal them both: Lucy’s broken heart and Catherine’s wounded one. Underneath all this is a history lesson on how brilliant women were forced to hide or kill their talents in service to the men around them. Written by Olivia Waite, this book is the literary equivalent of a rich chocolate cake and good red wine.Jeremy's Geek Out!New Mutants Final TrailerThe New Mutants, created by Chris Claremont is coming to the big screen and it’s the last chance for Fox to wow us before Disney and Marvel incorporate characters into the MCU. Unlike the previous X-Men films, this movie has a much stronger genre presence. Based on the New Mutants comic, it appears to be holding true to the horror themes that ran rampant during its original publication. Unfortunately with another PG-13 rating, it will maintain a tame theme. With characters including Wolfsbane, Magik, and Psyche/Mirage, it has the potential to end on a high note, But can it overcome the horrific writing that has plagued the X-Men franchise up to this point? We’ll know soon enough.Deep Dive Favorite Women of Sci-Fi (Mostly) TelevisionTrish’s Top 10 Myka Bering- Warehouse 13 (Joanne Kelly)Alison Blake-Eureka (Salli Richardson) Aeryn Soong- Farscape (Claudia Black)Sarah Lance- Legends of Tomorrow (Caity Lotz)Peggy Carter- Agent Carter (Hayley Atwell)The Ladies of GLOW- GLOWRiver Song- Doctor Who (Modern day) (Alex Kingston)Zoe- Firefly (Gina Torres)Eleanor Shelstrop- The Good Place (Kirsten Bell)Betty Suarez- Ugly Betty (America Ferrera)Jeremy’s Top 10 Maeve Millay / WestWorld (Thandie Newton)Sarah Manning / Orphan Black (Tatiana Maslany) Prairie Johnson OA / (Brit Marling)Lt. Notes: Spider-man Into the Spiderverse! The guys ramble on about the plot and argue over minute probabilities, while discussing the personality and the character of Miles Moralesa, Gwen Stacey and Peter B. Parker. Frank get's confused on which Peter Parker is which in the movie while they talk about the various Spider-people that arrive into Miles reality due to the testing of a large device that creates dimensional rifts. John briefly talks about "goobers" or Macguffins. They discuss the theme of "believing in yourself" and how it is the central idea to the film with all the characters. Frank touches on the history of the multiverse characters. John and Frank then talk about how the movie was stylized to appear like a comic book through-out. Then the guys talk villains, first comparing the Spider-verse Kingpin with Daredevil's, as well as going in depth about this version of Doc Ock. The discussion turns to what they hope to see in future films with all the characters. And finally it's their final thoughts. Quotes "He is an actualized human being who truly knows himself, who is a brutal murderer and mafia kingpin." "All the advice his uncle gave him was equally good advice but his uncle was also a murderer.""Not only is it good, but it's fun. It's just fun." After the massive upset that was Spider-Man 3, Sony decided to reboot the series. What we got was an incredible journey into the early years of Peter Parker, a realistic, "gritty" take on Spider-Man and a love interest with chemistry that melts the screen. Initially planned to be a trilogy, the sequel performed so poorly that Sony cancelled it all together and joined forces with Marvel to make Homecoming. But perhaps there was miscommunication because CLEARLY Amazing Spider-Man 2 is a masterpiece and wires got crossed. Come along on this journey where I explain to Bradinn why this emotional roller coaster of a movie is in my top three Spider-Man movies of all time.

The LAST Witch Hunter....D.s

It’s the Rise of Electro Boogaloo, as Andrew Garfield’s charming Spidey, Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacey and a talented cast do their best with a (maybe too) faithful comic book adaptation.
Sean, Lynn and Tracy discuss the phenomenon of Women in Refrigerators, the unsettling trend in comics (and by extension all scifi and fantasy) for female characters to be killed, raped, depowered, mind controlled and forcibly impregnated. The tragic fates of Carol Danvers, Karen Page and Gwen Stacey are compared to their TV sisters, most notably Joss Whedon characters like Jenny Calendar, Fred and Tara. Whedon talk leads to discussion of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly and Dollhouse, plus an earnest look at the dark side of Dawn-bashing. Also there is discussuion of information generation movies like "Catfish" and "The Social Network".

Destiny. If this be his? That's the title of this new arc and well - what to expect? Well, things haven't gotten that much better for Peter. He is hated by his new college classmates - including the Three Muskateers of Flash Thompson, Harry Osborn and Gwen Stacey. His aunt has fallen ill, and his beau is tangling with a marriage proposal from another man. At least there's always Spider-Man! Well, if he can get on the right side of a bunch of masked criminals roaming around the streets of New York acting for the 'Master Planner'. Hold onto your butts as James and Brad take you through the first act of what is apparently 'the definitive Spider-Man story'. RIP Steve Ditko.
