Last week Bethenny Frankel, Nene Leakes and the artist formerly known as Raquel Leviss had dinner at Hotel Bel Air with approximately twenty seven other women. One of those women was our very own BFF and monthly cross over co-host Miss Melissa Rivers. Today Melissa returns to spill all the tea on that dinner - what did Bethenny talk about, how and why was this dinner organized, what were 90210's Jennie Garth and Tiffani Thiessen doing there and did they actually burry the hatchet as the viral headlines have suggested, who did Raquel speak to, was Scandoval discussed, what was Larsa Pippen doing there. what was Melissa's role in all of this, and last, but certainly not least, did Bethenny spend all night discussing her “Reality Recknoning”. Speaking of B's “Reckoning”, we discuss the upcoming “Vanity Fair” “deeply reported probe into Bravo's relationship with Housewives" - when we can expect it to drop, the target of the article and likely outcome at Bravo once released. Speaking of Bravo, we discuss heading to BravoCon next week and break down Melissa's plans to stalk, we mean meet, Below Deck's Captain Jason, team up with her “competition” Countess Lu, attend Erika's “Bet on Blond” and spy incognito on Kyle to see if there are any Morgan Wade or Mauricio Umansky sightings. Finally we discuss the close of this season of RHONY, the premiere of RHOBH and how to fix both RHOA and RHOC when they return to our Bravo TVs later next year. @melissariversofficial @behindvelvetrope @davidyontef BONUS & AD FREE EPISODES Available at - www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetrope BROUGHT TO YOU BY: NOOM - noom.com (Sign Up For Your Trial Today So You Can Manage Your Weight For The Long Term) QUINCE - quince.com/velvetrope (Get Free Shipping and 365 Day Returns on Elevated Luxury Without Paying Luxury Prices) DOG's OVERALL HEALTH - www.DogFoodExposed.com/Velvet - (Help Improve Your Dog's Overall Health By Making One Simple Change in The Way They Eat. When the art collector and curator Jim Hedges was growing up in the South, New York was a “bright shining star” to which Interview Magazine was his “gateway drug.” “You know, as a 12 year old little boy in Chattanooga, Tennessee, dreaming about the big city and Studio 54 and the New York City art world…Warhol and his cult of personality, his cult of celebrity, the landscape that he was a part of, were all very, very enticing to me,” Hedges tells host Lyn Winter on Episode 2 of the latest season of Rodeo Drive - The Podcast. Now Hedges is the owner of one of the largest collections of Andy Warhol photographs in the world, and he is the new Curator of the Arts for the Beverly Hills Hotel and the Hotel Bel-Air, where his show Jean Pigozzi - The Photographs: Beverly Hills to Cap d'Antibes, is currently on display until May 31, 2023.Hedges reflects on how a career in investment banking turned into pursuit of another hot commodity: art, especially Warhol's photography: “For Warhol, it was really the source material for 99% of all the artwork that he ever made. In other words, he would take a picture of Marilyn Monroe… and use that as source material to make the painting… And then I found that this work was actually rather undervalued… and I started to think of it as an investment and ultimately a business.”From Warhol he turned his attention to Jean Pigozzi, another photographer with, “incredible access to celebrity and the movers and shakers. And they both documented these worlds in a very compelling and sort of singular voice.”Now some of Pigozzi's seductive images, taken in hotspots from Beverly Hills to Cap D'Antibes, are on display, some for the first time, at the Beverly Hills Hotel: a nighttime shot of Muhammad Ali framed perfectly in the window of a limousine; Yves Saint Laurent and his muse Loulou de La Falaise in Paris; Mick Jagger with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the South of France. Not only are the images stunningly glamorous, but so is the classic Hollywood hotel setting, says Hedges. “The experience of going to a white cube kind of art gallery that is austere and unwelcoming is not as great as sitting in the lobby of the Beverly Hills Hotel and looking at Johnny Pigozzi's photos or walking through the gardens of the Hotel Bel-Air…That's a better way to experience art.”Season Four of Rodeo Drive – The Podcast is presented by the Rodeo Drive Committee with the support of The Hayman Family, Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel, and the Beverly Hills Conference & Visitors Bureau.Season Four Credits:Executive Producer and Host: Lyn WinterOn behalf of the Rodeo Drive Committee: Kathy GohariScriptwriter and Editorial Advisor: Frances AndertonEditor and Videographer: Hans FjellestadTheme music by Brian BanksProduction Assistant: Isabelle AlfonsoListen, subscribe, rate and review on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts.Visit the website:https://rodeodrive-bh.com/podcast/Watch moments from the series on YouTube Join us on Instagram:@rodeodrive #onlyonrodeodrive #rodeodrivethepodcast Hosted on Acast. I'm often asked who inspired us when we opened The River Cafe in 1987. Wolfgang Puck is the one of the answers. A few months ago, he came to The River Cafe for dinner with his family, and to everyone working there it felt like a visit from the Gods. To me it was a visit from a mentor, a star, and a friend. I went to speak with him at his restaurant at the Hotel Bel-Air in LA, where we ate pizza and talked about his life as a chef, his childhood memories and much more. Join us for this episode of Ruthie's Table 4: Wolfgang Puck. For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On Ruthie's Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe's open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation. My very special guest today is the Chef & Owner of Jar Restaurant in LA, Suzanne Tracht! A driving force in the Los Angeles culinary scene, Suzanne Tracht has built JAR into one of the most beloved and successful restaurants in Los Angeles. Drawing inspiration from classic American comfort cuisine, JAR is a pilgrimage for passionate eaters and wine lovers from across the country. After Opening in 2001 with the help of her longtime Chef de Cuisine Preech Narkthong, Tracht's modern American chophouse continues to receive acclaim for its atmospheric setting and exceptional steaks, braises, and seasonal sides—including her sumptuous signature pot roast, which along with her char siu pork has been cited by culinary heavyweights on the Food Network's popular series The Best Thing I Ever Ate as worthy of the show's title. With its retro-modern décor, and evoking the aura of a timeless supper club, JAR has become an indelible part of the city's culture, even starring as a memorable location in the Academy Award-winning classic La La Land during a pivotal dramatic moment. Utilizing the finest local ingredients, Chef Tracht delights in taking classic chophouse dishes—deviled eggs, blue cheese wedge salad, and prime steaks—and updating them with a California sensibility. The season-driven menu offers appetizers and salads, with an emphasis on braises, grilled meats, and seafood, supplemented by an array of sides and traditional sauces. During the holidays, JAR's beloved Passover Seder and Thanksgiving dinners have earned ritual status among faithful patrons. Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Tracht apprenticed under mentor Chef Siegbert Wendler at the historic Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa before relocating to Southern California to work in the kitchen of the prestigious Hotel Bel-Air. In 1992, she became chef de cuisine at Nancy Silverton and Mark Peel's famed Campanile, then embarked on her first solo venture as executive chef at the Cal-Asian restaurant Jozu, which ranked number two for “L.A.'s Best New Restaurants” in Los Angeles magazine. Soon after she branched out on her own with the steakhouse concept JAR, Food & Wine named her among its Best New Chefs. Praise for JAR over the years includes acclaim from the late Pulitzer Prize-winning Los Angeles Times and LA Weekly restaurant critic Jonathan Gold, who gave JAR a coveted spot on his “101 Best Restaurants in LA” list every year since its inception. He says “Tracht's gift lies in her ability to reproduce the old tastes within a modern context so that the sautéed pea tendrils with garlic make as much sense as the creamed spinach, the duck-fried rice as the mashed potatoes, and the char siu-style pork chop as the prime filet mignon.” Other accolades include Los Angeles Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Bon Appétit, Saveur, Food & Wine, Gourmet, Los Angeles Confidential, Angeleno, Haute Living, Elle, InStyle, Zagat, and Eater. Chef Tracht, whose many television appearances include Top Chef Masters, Hell's Kitchen, Today, Entertainment Tonight, and countless cooking shows, continually donates her time to charitable organizations and events. Her generosity of spirit has been recognized by some of the region's most prominent organizations, including SOVA (a community food and resources program of Jewish Family Service of LA), C-Cap (Careers Through Culinary Arts Program), LA Loves Alex's Lemonade, Project Angel Food, No Kid Hungry, and Cedars-Sinai Women's Heart Center. Suzanne has received peer recognition for her work, participated in Fortune magazine's Most Powerful Women Summit, and has cooked multiple times at the prestigious James Beard House. And she joins us again to talk about her Thanksgiving memories, menu, and wishes… www.thejar.com

This week on Talk Recovery Radio This week on Talk Recovery Radio Brianne Davis an author, podcast host and person in long term recovery from sex and love addiction joins us on Facebook live and Co-op Radio 100.5fm. About Brianne Davis Whether lighting up the big screen or calling the shots behind the scene, actor, director, producer, and writer Brianne Davis is one of the most electric talents to storm Hollywood by force. She recently wrapped two seasons as series regular in History Channel's "Six" and a role in the upcoming season of Netflix's "Lucifer." Originally from Atlanta, Brianne moved to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career. Her first lead role came in 2005 with the blockbuster hit Jarhead, opposite Jake Gyllenhaal. Her credits include recurring roles on Hulu's "Casual," TNT's "Murder In The First," HBO's "True Blood," as well as FX's "Nip/Tuck," "NCIS: Los Angeles," CBS' "CSI: Miami," ABC's "Desperate Housewives," and HBO's "True Blood." Not only an actor, Brianne is also an accomplished director and producer. Thriving behind the camera, as much as in front, she has produced five films with her production company Give & Take Productions. She has directed two features: "The Night Visitor 2: Heather's Story" and "Deadly Signal," which premiered at the Sites Film Festival in Spain. Brianne is the co-creator of three female-driven TV Series, "Take Back The Night," "Into Me You See" and "Secret Life." She's currently pitching them to networks with her producing partner/husband, Mark Gantt. Brianne recently finished writing her first book, "Secret Life of a Hollywood Sex and Love Addict, a roman à clef novel based on a decade in recovery, and a little creative license. The book arrives in 2021. In March of 2020, she published an article for the HuffPost about her ten years of recovery from sex and love addiction. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband, son Davis and their dog Bear. Brianne talks about how sex and love addiction can be very grey. It is not as simple as drinking or using drugs. Brianne says people who are sex and love addicts are addicted to people. Brianne explains sex addiction as people who are addicted to one-night stands, cheating in a relationship, having multiple relationships at once and having one foot in and one foot out in a relationship. Sex addicts are people who are more addicted to the sexual act of a relationship. Love addiction on the other hand is addicted to fantasy, romance, bad relationships, people who go back to the same relationship when they know the person is unavailable to be in a relationship. Someone who struggles with Sex and Love addiction has a progressive brain disease, people become addicted to people and to keep up the relationship they do sexual things to keep up the relationship. The fellowship people attend who are Sex and Love addicts is Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous. Brianne has been sober in the fellowship for eleven and a half years, and she talks about what her bottom line looks like. Brianne said her sobriety depends on her staying above her bottom line, her bottom line is things she was doing before she got sober. Brianne was not allowed to cheat on her partner, she was not allowed to text email or talk to any men whatsoever, also get rid of all men in her life completely. Brianne says she would have to go to a restaurant and look down and not make eye contact with the waiter because what she did was put out a kind of energy to flirt with others, and to intrigue with her. Brianne would walk down the street and make sure people look at her and notice her as she wanted everyone's attention she explains. Brianne says her first year of sobriety she did not work as an actor. Brianne said she could not be in character when she was an empty shell of a human being. Brianne explains it as like putting a mask on top of a mask on top of a mask, also her first year of sobriety she did not have sex with her boyfriend, who is now her husband. Brianne and her boyfriend had very clear boundaries at the beginning of her sobriety such as her boyfriend not being able to comfort her when she was struggling, and he could not be there for her when she needed him. Brianne says it was the best thing to keep the relationship was to let it go for a while to let her get well. If you are wondering if you struggle with sex and love addiction you can do a 40-questionnaire survey online if you go to google and type in “40 self diagnose question sex and love addicts anonymous”. Brianne's Website | Facebook | Twitter | Instagram Sex and Love Addiction Imagine if Sex and the City's Samantha was an addict and her drug of choice is MEN. Go on a hilarious, inspiring, and at times, shocking journey as Roxanne conquers her fears, changes her ways, gets closer to healthy relationships and embraces self-love a little more each day. After years of working as an image-obsessed actress in Hollywood, Roxanne finds herself at rock bottom from a disease that is anything but glamorous. In her first year of recovery, Roxanne has to take accountability for her past. From tales of being mistaken for a prostitute at the Hotel Bel-Air to botching a threesome attempt with an A-list celebrity, she must face the truth about herself and stop playing the victim. Roxanne's odyssey of using sex and love—as destructive and beguiling as an alcoholic reaching for a bottle—is a veritable rollercoaster of ups and downs, laughter and tears, and a true testament to facing your absolute truth and conquering your fears. So take a front-row seat into this complex world of sexual addiction, love addiction and the transformational power of releasing your shame and living a sober life. Secret Life of a Hollywood Sex & Love Addict has the vibrant, relatable vibe of chick lit, the soul-baring honesty of a memoir and the wisdom of a self-help book. In this unique roman à clef novel, Brianne Davis shares her own intimate experience with the transformational power of the twelve-steps, providing strength and hope for anyone who wants to change their life forever: The 12-steps of recovery are broken down to help both the addict and those that love them. Identifying and isolating behaviors of sexual addiction, and the road to sexual health recovery Looking inside and finding out the WHY. Dating sober and building a community of sober women. Love addiction, the willingness to be honest, self-care and becoming authentic. Practical tips and tools to enhance your life, let go of shame and embrace self-love. Brianne talks about her book “Secret Life of a Hollywood Sex and Love Addict” when she was asked why she wrote the book and why she wanted to write the book, Brianne responded by saying she was never planning on writing a book. Brianne did not want to break her anonymity and be a speaker and author but when she got to her 10-year sober mark she got this overwhelming feeling of being of service bigger than herself. Brianne's husband found a writing class that he suggested she take, and Brianne was very close minded at first. After being suggested again and again to take the class Brianne finally did and ended up writing the first draft of the book in 45 days. Brianne later wrote an article for the Huff Post and when it came out, she thought her acting career was going to be over because everyone would know she was a sex and love addict, but after the article came out, nothing happened. No one said anything and she realized how small she really was in this world and her sharing her story was not as big as a deal as she thought, and no one was going to judge her or she wont lose her job. Brianne explains one thing she did learn is that once she shared her story on a global stage, that last bit of shame she had went away, knowing her story is out there helping people. Buy The Book

During the interview, the manager of the restaurant offered Hugo an opportunity as a runner, but he had to prove himself.During that time in the kitchen, Hugo developed a relationship with Chef Fred Iwasaki who would become his very own “Mr. Miyagi”. Wanting to learn to be a chef, Hugo asked Chef Iwasaki to teach him.The Chef replied:I will not pay you anything. If you want to come in, I will pay you in lessons. You come in the morning, you clean the bathrooms, you clean the floors, and if you can hack it- at the end of the day I will teach you a lesson every single day.One day a chef did not show up for work and Hugo got his first big break as a Line Chef. When the restaurant closed its doors, Chef Iwasaki took Hugo to cook at the Oscars as part of the Wolfgang Puck Catering team. This was a life-changing moment for Hugo which would go on to alter the course of his career. At that time in his life, he wanted to work at the Cheesecake Factory, which was always busy and looked cool. Hugo went through six interviews, including a physiological test and he ultimately did not get the job.I tell myself all the time when I drive by the Cheesecake Factory, if I would have gotten that job, it would have changed my whole life. It would have taken me down a different road. – Chef Hugo BolanosAfter being turned down for the Cheesecake Factory job, Hugo received a phone call from his mentor, Chef Iwasaki, who invited him to join him once again cooking for Wolfgang Puck Catering. This time it was not for the Oscars, but a private party at the home of the actor David Carradine in Beverly Hills.Hugo was in charge of driving the catering van this evening. This evening turned into a make or break moment. When the party was over, backing out the van, Hugo crashed into Wolfgang Puck's prototype Mercedes. With the fear of getting fired, Hugo went into the party to inform Chef Wolfgang Puck that he had crashed the van into his car. Wolfgang asked if was OK and told him that it was fine. You have to get over your own fears to see what you are capable of. – Chef Hugo BolanosThe next day, Hugo had to report to Spago for a demo for Chef Charlie Trotter. Feeling like “death”, Hugo shows up and has no idea what is about to happen. Will his parents get a phone call. Will he lose his job. What will happen?During this time, Wolfgang Puck and Chef Lee Hefter were talking about the event and how it went. Wolfgang told Chef Hefter about the incident which did not go over well, to say the least. As Wolfgang makes the rounds during the demo, he locks eyes with Hugo and says:You are that stupid kid who hit my car.Wolfgang calls over Chef Hefter, who respects Hugo for the fact that he showed up at Spago after the incident. Chef Hefter transferred Hugo from Catering to Spago to repay the debt. Once again it was about timing as Hugo owned the situation.Hugo ended up spending 10 years at Spago working his way up to #3 in the kitchen. When famous chefs such as Daniel Boulud or Alain Ducasse would visit Spago, Hugo would ask to join their operations for a summer to learn new cooking techniques. He made it happen and paid his own way. The world's kitchens were Hugo's internship. You cannot cook great food or give a great experience unless you received that great food. Received that great experience and seen that for yourself. – Chef Hugo BolanosFrom Spago, Hugo transferred to the Hotel Bel-Air where he created the annual End-of-Summer Barbecue. This conversation evolves into a discussion around not giving up when facing obstacles in life. With COVID-19 impacting the world, Hugo's dream of opening his own restaurant was starting to diminish. Having to make a big life decision, Hugo pivoted and shifted to a takeaway restaurant business – Búho Rouge. With takeaway food, packaging and ingredients are crucial. Grayson and Hugo have an in-depth conversation around packaging and foods that can be packaged for takeaway and delivery.Building upon packaging, Grayson asks Hugo for his thoughts on cloud kitchens and what the experience will look like for customers when the food is delivered.I am looking for whatever that next platform is. – Chef Hugo BolanosClosing out the conversation, Grayson and Hugo discuss culinary experiences and why they are important for the hospitality industry.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

This podcast has nothing to do with politics. It's just a fascinating interview. Elex Michaelson recently sat down with Wolfgang Puck inside his Hotel Bel Air restaurant. Wolfgang redefined the way we eat, what we eat, and how we learn about food. He invented the "open kitchen concept," became the first restaurant chef to appear regularly on TV, and then became a world-class entrepreneur. But, his start in life was tough. His step-father didn't believe in him & didn't think men should cook at all. In this wide-ranging conversation, Wolfgang opens up about finding a mentor & a purpose in life. He breaks down his strategy for success...and how he's paid it forward to several generations. ---------- The Issue Is: with Elex Michaelson is California's only statewide political show, broadcast from FOX 11 Studios in Los Angeles.
