Join Larry Spargimino and David Haskell, a professor in Ontario, Canada, and a pastor. As a sociologist, he cites many empirical studies proving that Christian principles help individuals, families, and nations flourish. The violation of these principles consistently brings societal collapse. Haskell powerfully rebuts the progressive claim that the US and Canada were intended to operate as nations in which Christian teachings were excluded from law and restricted to private life. While progressives laud the benefits of diversity and multiculturalism, as did President Obama, Haskell cites empirical studies proving diversity is harmful to a society, and an effective way to destroy a nation. In a popular article, cultural critic Jordan B. Peterson named David Haskell among five leading academics confronting the woke assault on Canadian institutions, singling Haskell out for his unflinching public stance. "Christ or Collapse" should be in every thinking Christian's library.

What if the self you keep trying to serve isn't actually you at all? In this lecture, the final stop of a 60 city tour, Jordan Peterson begins with an unlikely admission from the world's most famous atheist and follows it into the two shortest, densest paragraphs in the Bible: the story of two brothers and the offerings they make. From there he traces a single thread through the whole architecture of a human life, why the child who insists on his own way ends up with no friends, why a marriage cannot survive on getting what you want, and how a thousand quiet hours of resentment turn an ordinary person into someone capable of the unthinkable. What he uncovers is not a rule about religion but a question your own conscience has been asking you all along, one that decides whether the world opens up in front of you or closes in. The answer has nothing to do with belief in the usual sense, and everything to do with what you're willing to give up. This lecture was filmed on June 25, 2024, in Mexico City, Mexico. Crazy Wisdom

Stewart Alsop sits down with Daniel Freed, forty thousand words deep into a book that ties together consciousness, totalitarianism, archetypes, and religion, and the two spend the conversation tracing how those threads connect. They work through Jungian archetypes as behavioral blueprints embedded in stories across generations, unpacking the father, mother, and son roles and what they reveal about tradition, potential, and the individual. From there they get into Jordan Peterson's model of storytelling as a defense against totalitarian thinking, detour through Buddhism, Taoism, and the idea of the absolute, and Daniel walks through his own attempt to prove the limits of representing consciousness using axioms borrowed from math and logic, including Cantor's diagonal argument. The back half moves into Daniel's math and computer science background, touching on David Hilbert, Von Neumann, combinatorics, and complexity theory, before wrapping up with a look at Stewart's hardware prototyping experiments.Timestamps00:00 Introduction to archetypes, Jung, and why psychologists write dense books00:05 Mother, father, and son as story roles; tradition, potential, and the individual00:10 Totalitarianism, narrative architecture, and Peterson's four degrees of freedom in a story00:15 Objects, relational properties, and why the thing-in-itself breaks down under scrutiny00:20 The absolute, the Tao, and consciousness as a limit you can't directly represent00:25 A proof sketch against representing consciousness; diagonal arguments and formal limits00:30 Relevance realization, Popper, and why consciousness may resist full scientific modeling00:35 Applying the story model to groups: how collective narratives can become totalitarian00:40 Egregores, faith vs belief, and how ideas spread through modern institutions00:45 A turn into math: computer science, injury, Hilbert, and the power of axioms00:50 Quantum math, Von Neumann, and complexity theory as problem reductionKey InsightsArchetypes work like compressed behavioral data. Daniel frames archetypes not as arbitrary symbols but as patterns tested across generations of storytelling — when a story trains believers to kill the father figure and chaos follows, more value gets placed on the father and tradition over time, and the same logic explains why the mother figure comes to represent potential and the son comes to represent the individual. The son-outranks-the-father pattern underwrites Western individualism. Daniel argues that across traditions, the hero figure eventually outranks the established order, and this is the root of ideas like free speech and presumption of innocence — a fundamentally anti-utilitarian stance since it values the single person over the group's interest.Jordan Peterson's four-part story architecture doubles as a defense against totalitarianism. What is, what should be, the path between them, and the unknown or chaos form the minimum structure needed for a conscious being to experience anything as new. Daniel took this framework and applied it to group narratives, showing how holding one element of a group's story fixed while individuals change creates the conditions for totalitarian control.Every property is relational, so there's no "thing in itself." Drawing on Nietzsche, Daniel walks through the idea that qualities like hardness or mass only exist as effects on other things, which means an object stripped of all its relations has nothing left to define it.Daniel built a formal argument for why consciousness can't be fully represented. Using three axioms about distinctions resting within "respects" and borrowing Cantor's diagonal argument, he shows that certain respects can't have a ceiling, meaning any total representation of consciousness runs into the same problem uncountable sets do.Faith and belief are distinct but feed each other. Stewart draws out the difference — belief as propositional, faith as more emotional and fundamental — and Daniel agrees that propositional belief tends to translate into faith once people start acting it out.Daniel's path ran from computer science to math because of a wrist injury. Unable to type, he shifted toward math and ended up carrying over proof techniques from complexity theory and combinatorics into his philosophical work, citing David Hilbert's method of reducing ideas to rigorous axioms as a direct influence on how he now approaches philosophy.

Bill Maher welcomes British comedian Jack Whitehall for a conversation that starts with a World Cup conspiracy theory and only gets more unhinged from there. Somewhere between the soccer talk and the soul-baring, Jack admits he cried watching Deal or No Deal but worried he wouldn't cry when his daughter was born. They also dive into Jack's infamous Queen Elizabeth joke that sparked outrage across the UK, and the Michael Jackson sketch he prayed wouldn't air. Bill weighs in on surviving cancel culture, Woody Harrelson's legendary hangouts, the Beatles, dating before smartphones, and why comedians often find it easier to perform than to actually be themselves. Why are so many political activists crashing into severe burnout and depression? Can the deep psychology of Carl Jung provide a radical toolkit for modern survival without retreating from the fight? In this episode of Varnblog, we sit down with ecotherapist and author Rob Faure Walker to deconstruct his groundbreaking book, Radical Jung .We dive into a mind-bending exploration bridging the Marxist radical imagination with Jungian analytical psychology. Rob shares his personal journey through school teacher union organizing, severe activist burnout, and finding spiritual navigation via dream integration and Gnostic texts. Together, we unpack how modern capitalism has become truly nihilistic, why mainstream psychoanalysis often defaults to isolationist individualism, and how right-wing figures like Jordan Peterson have weaponized and essentialized Jungian concepts on hierarchy and gender .Furthermore, we explore the terrifying intersections of state power, counter-extremism governmentality , and how billionaire techno-oligarchs like Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, and Mark Zuckerberg project their own "shadow of privilege" onto marginalized groups while building automated survival bunkers and centralizing control .If you are looking for a deeper psychological toolkit to understand the algorithm's control over our unconscious mind , structural political failure , and the path toward true recovery , this deep-dive conversation is for you.✨ Grab Rob Faure Walker's new book, Radical Jung, out now from Revo Press!Send us Fan Mail Musis by Bitterlake, Used with Permission, all rights to BitterlakeSupport the showCrew:Host: C. Israel is alive, thriving, and inspiring and also, while he was there, so was Clavicular. Now Jewish Twitter is having an emotional crisis about it.Ami's take is pragmatic: he's not endorsing the behavior, the Miami Heil Hitler moment was awful, and the look-maxing lifestyle is not a model for young men. But Clavicular has a massive audience. If a 35-year-old version of him shows up at an anti-Semitism conference in 10 years and credits this trip as the start of his change of heart, the same people shaming him now would give him a standing ovation. So what approach actually moves the needle? He also breaks down why pro-Israel is becoming the new edgy for Gen Z, the difference between an ideological neo-Nazi and a 20-year-old provocateur, and why Yossi Farrow's tefillin-on-everyone strategy is just the Chabad approach at scale. Most parents are one conversation away from changing the trajectory of their child's life and most don't know it. In this episode, Lance and Annabelle Wallnau pull back the curtain on the parenting tools rooted in Scripture that actually worked raising their own kids and are now shaping their grandchildren. From a negotiation principle buried in Daniel Chapter 1, to the spoken blessing that acts like a vitamin for the soul, to why Jordan Peterson says you cannot raise children to be both safe and strong, this conversation is equal parts funny, practical, and prophetic. In this episode: * The "May I Make an Appeal?" method, straight from Daniel, that ends whining and actually works on strangers * Why making your child the center of the family backfires (and what to do instead) * The hand-touch technique that stops kids from interrupting mid-conversation * Affirmations vs. compliments and why one lands 10x deeper than the other * How to pass faith like a memorial stone to the next generation, the way Paul did with Timothy The legacy you leave isn't just money or memories. It's the stories of what God did and the tools you hand your kids to navigate a world that's getting harder by the day. A Revival Expert Explains What is Happening in America Right Now Something is happening in America right now, and most people, even inside the church, don't have language for it. Revival historian Larry Sparks does. Is what we're seeing in 2026 a genuine move of God or just a cultural moment? Lance Wallnau sits down with Larry Sparks, co-author of The Fire That Forged America, to trace 250 years of God breaking into this nation at its darkest moments and to make the case that what's stirring right now is bigger than politics, bigger than culture, and bigger than the church has dared to believe. In this episode: * The difference between renewal, revival, and awakening and which one America is in right now * Why secular voices like Joe Rogan and Jordan Peterson may be signs of awakening, not the enemy * How Jonathan Edwards sparked the First Great Awakening by simply preaching the Word * Why the seeker-sensitive church accidentally disengaged the generation meant to reform the culture * What "a revived life is a commissioned awakener" means for every believer watching this * What Mel Gibson's resurrection film could do to American culture in the next 12 months God has done this before. Bill Maher welcomes media mogul Byron Allen to Club Random for one of the most remarkable origin stories you'll hear all year. Long before building a multibillion-dollar media empire, Byron was a 14-year-old kid hanging around NBC, studying Johnny Carson like it was graduate school and writing jokes for Jimmie Walker alongside young comics named Jay Leno and David Letterman. Bill and Byron trade stories about Carson, the Comedy Store, Hollywood in the '70s and '80s, early career missteps, and the mentors who changed their lives. Byron explains how his mother's persistence shaped everything he built, why showing up earlier than everyone else became his greatest advantage, and why he still believes health—not money—is the ultimate measure of wealth. 95. What is Likability and how important is it? Mentioning Maya Angelou, Jordan Peterson, Bill Maher, Tim Urban & more

    Cloud Streaks

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 13, 2026 61:42

Main ideas: - Likability is the residue of an interaction: did someone make you feel good, and would you look forward to seeing them again? - It is subjective but not completely arbitrary. Smiling, warmth, tone, body language, humour, listening and word choice are recurring ingredients. - Likability is learnable and effectively free. The speakers reject the idea that people are simply born likable or unlikable. - Messaging can matter as much as the message. A strong idea presented by a disliked person may fail; a weak idea presented by a likable person may spread. - It is a multiplier for competence. Workplaces may reject brilliant performers whom colleagues actively avoid. - Conversation is “social tennis.” Likable people return the conversational ball rather than trying to ace the other person. - Life is a multiplayer game. A useful shift is from “What do I want to do?” to “How can I make this game or interaction better for everyone?” - Being good energy matters. The speakers suggest intentionally creating periods—perhaps once a week—when friends or partners set their problems aside and have fun. - Context changes the recipe. Humour may dominate in public or parasocial settings, while empathy and feeling understood matter more one-to-one. - There is a golden mean. Too little likability becomes abrasive; too much becomes approval-seeking. If it is merely a tool for getting what you want, it becomes manipulation. - Authenticity and mission can compensate for abrasiveness. Musk, Jobs and Trump are presented as examples of people liked by some precisely because they appear uncompromising. - Political likability can be dangerous. Charisma can acquire power, override policy evaluation and attach people to ideas or leaders. - Disagreement need not be disagreeable. Likability includes hearing opposing views, separating people from their ideas, and allowing disagreement without personal rejection. - Ideas themselves can be likable. An emotionally appealing idea can propagate even if its practical outcomes are poor—the speakers use socialism and Marxism as their contentious example. - Growth encourages positive-sum thinking. One speaker argues that low economic growth intensifies tribal and zero-sum conflict, while renewed growth—potentially driven by AI—could encourage openness and cooperation. - Dale Carnegie's practical recipe receives the clearest endorsement: show genuine interest, smile and be warm, remember names, listen more than you speak, discuss the other person's interests, and make people feel sincerely valued.

What do medieval alchemists, your recurring bad memories, and the reason you can't feel joy have in common? In this lecture, Dr. Jordan B. Peterson traces a single thread from Carl Jung's strangest work to a revolutionary discovery that emerged in four different scientific fields at once, one that changes how you understand every movie you've watched and every choice you've made. Along the way he reveals the writing exercise he built with colleagues from Harvard and McGill that can measurably lower your stress, the 90 minutes a week that determine whether a marriage survives, and the question our culture never asks anyone even once in their life. Adrian Goldberg highlights a brilliant Byline Times investigation by Nafeez Ahmed and Peter Jukes which exposes the links between Cambridge University, Reform UK and the Trump-supporting US tech billionaire Peter Thiel… The individual who connects all three is James Orr – who is both an associate professor of Divinity at Cambridge AND Head of Policy at Reform. In this episode of We Should Know Better, the guys dive headfirst into a hilariously chaotic mix of viral street culture, heavy theological head-scratchers, and unsolicited physical observations.  Zack and Andy break down a bizarre viral video of a street preacher casting quite the extreme "biblical" curse on a dancing Jesus impersonator. They then pivot into a raw, honest conversation about their own insecurities—from Zack's legendary "missing link" brow ridge to Andy's sudden realization that his bladder is working overtime.  Later, they tackle the mental shift of unexpected inheritance money, debate the controversial new Texas law mandating Bible reading in public schools, and pull up the receipts on Genesis 9 to figure out exactly what happened when Noah got a little too drunk in his tent.  Finally, they question whether a lack of modern creativity means the global simulation is simply running out of memory. Matt and Michael explore language itself — how the same sentence can carry seven different meanings depending on which word you emphasize. From Christopher Walken's acting advice to watching a toddler learn to speak, they examine how we communicate far more than dictionary definitions. This spirals into the central claim of John's Gospel: Jesus Christ is the Word. What does it mean that the creative power of the universe is linguistic? And why do we so often use language to hide rather than reveal? They move through imposter syndrome, scripted relationships, and the death of authentic communication in a transactional culture. The conversation lands on forgiveness and repentance as the antidote to false representation, and asks whether our deepest divide isn't political but spiritual. Cheers y'all

What does a 75-year-old man leaving his father's house for the first time have to do with the darkest question a human being can ask about themselves? In this lecture, Jordan Peterson traces a single obsession — how ordinary people commit extraordinary evil — from a teenage encounter with books about Nazi Germany and the Soviet gulag, through unsettling visits to a maximum security prison, to a startling personal reckoning with his own capacity for darkness. What he found waiting at the bottom of that question wasn't despair, but something far more unexpected: an ancient story about calling, sacrifice, and the kind of adventure that makes the weight of being alive feel worth carrying. The story of Abraham turns out to be less about faith in the conventional sense and far more about a question you already know the answer to — whether you're listening. On Decoding the Gurus, we regularly get to hear a lot of truly “high-level” ideas, but the much-requested subject of this episode's decoding is up there with the best of them. We are talking, of course, about “Professor” Jiang, the internet's favourite new overly confident online guru, now that Jordan Peterson is indisposed. Jiang Xueqin is a secondary school teacher who has found an online audience thirsty for his particular style of confident bullshit, and he is more than ready to roll out his “predictive history” analyses on command.Be prepared for some serious professorial cosplay as Stephen Bartlett, from Diary of a CEO, spares no expense in his endless quest to indulge every modern online crank, offering a grab bag of props as well as his usual thoughtful pauses and awe-inspiring requests for definitions. Thrill as the honorary professor performs as a grand seer and geopolitical strategist, complete with a tabletop world map, wargame prop pieces, whiteboard flowcharts, coloured chess sets, and a dramatic metal briefcase full of sealed predictions. So get ready to experience his hit-parade of forecasts (Trump's 3rd term, endless war with Iran, eventual U.S. “loss”) along with his trademark conspiratorial mélange of real-ish facts, misstatements, and domino-chain inevitabilities. The end of Part 1 is a sign of things to come, featuring Jiang's post-apocalyptic advice on how the good people can rebuild society with the help of prophets and visionaries (AKA gurus) and soothe yourself with the knowledge that we are all ultimately just a God-derived fractal consciousness anyway.

In March 2026, the Bible Society quietly pulled their revival report. YouGov admitted "human error." Within weeks, both stories disappeared from the news cycle. But the data they walked back is still sitting there — and it doesn't say what they wanted it to say. Why are powerful institutions retracting evidence of spiritual awakening right now? Lance Wallnau breaks down what the suppressed numbers actually show, why young men are flooding into historic Christianity, and what's driving a conversion surge nobody in media will cover. Plus: two guests on the front lines of taking the kingdom into schools and government. In this episode: * YouGov's "human error" and the Bible Society retraction — what really happened * 71% of young adults say they believe in something spiritual beyond the natural * Youth for Christ: teens reporting dreams of Jesus at unprecedented rates * Catholic converts up 38% year-over-year — and the cultural force driving it * Why the skinny-jeans pastor can't compete with hierarchy, suffering, and the Jordan Peterson effect * Keir Starmer resigns hours after Trump calls him an "incompetent loser" — the Trump Effect goes global * Rocky Malloy (National School Chaplain Association) on getting 49,000 trained chaplains into 41,000 schools — and why your district can hire one right now * Texas is paying schools to use a Bible-inclusive curriculum — and 27 states are following * David Pautsch — Gold Star father, congressional candidate, and what he learned meeting 24,000 voters face to face on faith, elections, and running as an unapologetic Christian The reports were retracted. Satan isn't attacking America randomly — there's a calculated reason he's targeting this nation right now, and once you understand it, everything happening in the world will finally make sense. Lance Wallnau breaks down the prophetic reality behind the spiritual war over America and what God is about to do next. In this message, Lance shares the word he received in Israel before the 2024 election — why God said Trump's restoration was "for the sake of the nations," why the Antichrist cannot rise while America stands, and why this moment is not a time for defensive prayers but aggressive, faith-filled action. He also calls out a prophetic warning over Jordan Peterson and Victor Davis Hanson — and why Satan is specifically targeting the voices of truth. This is the prophetic clarity the church needs right now. Subscribe and hit the bell so you never miss a word from Lance Wallnau.
