Nathan and Caleb get together to discuss a weekend of derbies, including the Manchester Derby, North London Derby, and El Clasico (in Riyadh). Plus, a look at some transfers that make no sense, some Ligue Un talk, and more!
Matchday One has been completed in the Premier League, Bundesliga, and Ligue Un, and the lads are full of takes, often centering on large strikers and their ability (or lack thereof) to move in certain directions. From Nick "hating this game" to Caleb declaring Ligue Un and the BuLi over and done with, you'll want to tune in .

Arguably the biggest window in Ligue Un history was highlighted by the arrival of several marque names in Paris, but the rest of the league did quite a bit of good business as well. I discuss the best and worst, wonder about which teams could have moved differently, and offer grades for all the major business done in France this summer. In a year full of crowded weeks, this show kicks off one of the most crowded. CONCACAF Champions League & Copa Libertadores play return with a series of intriguing storylines and mouth-watering matchups including Atletico Mineiro against River Plate and rivals Sao Paulo and Palmeiras battling as well as Rayados versus La Maquina in North America. Elsewhere, I discuss Ligue Un's brilliant opening weekend, speculate on potential strikers that Inter, Roma, Liverpool, and Bayern could sign, praise the work of a pair of managers in Brazil, and somehow find time to wonder about Michy Batshuyai's Chelsea future ahead of the UEFA Super Cup. The transfer window is finally starting to heat up a little bit, and Ligue Un sides have been amongst the most active. How will/should PSG line up? Can Monaco, Nice, & Marseille push them for the title? I answer both (sort of) and discuss the intense pressure Mauricio Pochettino will face this season if things go south. Plus, Copa Libertadores returns
Now that the season is drawing to a close, with Sergi Canós chasing promotion to the Premier League with Brentford and Pedro Chirivella fighting relegation from Ligue Un with Nantes, we've been catching up with some of our Series One guests. In this episode we have a chat with Dahrius Waldron about fatherhood and how the pod changed things for him, Adam Anson on all of his work and interests being impacted by Covid-19 but still keeping a positive mindset and then a promotion party with MJ Williams who is back in League One with Bolton Wanderers.
Nick & Caleb convene to give their whip-around reactions to all of the drama from across the major European leagues. The lads attempt to find words to describe goalkeeper Alisson Becker's glorious winner for Liverpool & the impact that this moment could have on the Reds' last ditch chase for a spot in the top four. They also breakdown a historic FA Cup final win for Leicester, Tuchel's baffling team selection for Chelsea, & discuss which club could be in danger of dropping out of Champions League places come midweek.Next, the duo head over to La Liga to react to Luis Suarez's season defining moment for Atletico Madrid, Caleb gives his raw impassioned thoughts on FC Barcelona's self inflicted late season collapse, & they ponder the future of Barça head coach Ronald Koeman. Finally, the two give their takes on the current state of a Europa League bound Juventus, predict whether or not Lille can hold out to win a miraculous Ligue Un title, & give some love to undefeated champions Sporting Lisbon, Rangers, & Barça Femini.Corner Kick Themes by William HitelFollow CornerKick on Social Media:https://www.facebook.com/cornerkickmedia/https://twitter.com/CornerKickMedia
It's the end of season for all our clubs, but it does allow us to ask, after a dramatic last game of the season, should Derby now be relegated? Do these two draws prove that the Championship the best league in the world? What's it like to be involved in last ditch escapes? And of course, Stephen can't resist bringing up Nigel Pepper's amazing free kick again. In relegation news, sorry, no Big Sam this week, but we do discuss our other regular topic, Joey Barton. Is he shit? Is a second Bristol Rovers relegation worth a bet? We also look at Sunderland's wonderful unravelling in the famous Netflix documentary and Darron Gibson's mobile phone meltdown. In League Two news, we cover Bolton's non-scoring promotion push, Bradford City's non-winning end of season, Salford's massive budget, wonder if Oldham Athletic is the most exciting team in the world, and find out in which socialist utopia the People's Pension Stadium is (it's Crawley).Over here in the EU, we look at at the title race in Ligue Un, the perilous financial state of Real Madrid & Barcelona and ask if the Super League was an existential question, and translate "Burnley" into every league and find out it means shit everywhere. And there is also talk of Phil Parkinson and National League finances and playoffs. Plus we end the episode with talk of managerial inspiration featuring Phil Neal at Bolton, Bryan Robson at Middlesborough and get some hands-on motivation from Ryan Giggs' stimulating teamtalk and Michael Owen's gripping helicopter tour of Dubai. Nathan, Nick, & Caleb open the show by sharing their reactions to the fan protests & pitch invasion at Old Trafford. They discuss how this could be used as a powerful extension of the growing movement of fan power in the Premier League, their surprise at the tone of the media coverage, & the wide reaching impacts of the postponement of Manchester United vs Liverpool. Next, the crew check in on title races in Serie A, La Liga, & Ligue Un. They break down how Conte & Lukaku propelled Inter to take Juve's crown, Caleb's nightmare scenario in an unpredictably close Liga title race, & how Lille's combination of promising stars & surprising veterans have helped them maintain an unlikely hunt for the French title. Finally, the lads reflect on the first legs of the Champions & Europa League semi-finals & attempt to predict who they see moving on to the finals. Can Eden Hazard deliver another trip to the UCL final for Madrid at the expense of his former club? Will Unai Emery sink Arsenal in his return to the Emirates? After a largely (Everton-omitted) dull Saturday in the Premier League, Sunday's action was a reminder of why we all love this league so much. While Southampton held serve emphatically, Liverpool & Spurs both dropped points before Arsenal were once again embarrassed on home soil. We discuss all of the action from around the grounds including how good Southampton & Leicester can be, how much of an influence Eze and Parker have had on their respective clubs, and how many of Klopp & Mourinho's players who started today's game will be called upon once again when they clash on Wednesday. We also wonder whether Mikel Arteta knows the definition of insanity and ask what Rhian Brewster stands to gain from the stop start run in the team he's currently receiving. As always, we start the show by discussing all the action from around the continent including another twist in the Ligue Un title race that saw Neymar severely injured and the sacking of Borussia Dortmund manager Lucien Favre just hours after his team were battered at home against Stuttgart. Said Benrahma's long awaited debut finally arrived and West Ham took full advantage of the Algerian's dazzling performance. His fellow midfielders Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek also starred as more set piece calamity saw Bielsa's Leeds once again dropping points. We discuss how Moyes' formation change was the perfect assist for the talented Hammers duo, why the crackdown on goalkeepers during PKs doesn't always make sense, and how Leeds-despite their great style-will need to start addressing some of their flaws to start roping in the points. Later, we discuss how Manchester United could learn a lot about how to manage players like Paul Pogba and Angel Di Maria by following the lead of the Los Angeles Lakers and the Mercedes-Benz Formula One Team. There was plenty of great football to talk about on Saturday, but we start the episode with the incident that sole most of the Saturday headlines--Jurgen Klopp's interview with BT Sport following Liverpool's draw with Brighton. We consider both sides of the argument, argue that common sense backs Klopp, and wonder whether media outlets know how ridiculous they look for having their pundits blindly back the agreement which stands to make them the most money. Later, we get to the football with the muddled La Liga title race, PSG's inability to stamp their mark on Ligue Un, and Dortmund's dropped points all on the agenda. As always, English football dominates the agenda with Liverpool's draw on the South coast, City's rampant win against Burnley, and an enthralling game at Goodison all discussed. Lastly, we close out the show by discussing the plight of Sheffield United and wondering whether anyone actually thinks Jurgen Klopp could be sacked before Carlo Ancelotti. Nick, Caleb, and Nathan begin by breaking down the jewel in the crown of a revived Jose Mourinho after his Tottenham surgically sliced through Manchester City to ascend to the top of table. The lads also examine the most entertaining 0-0 they've ever seen in Arsenal vs Leeds, as Nico Pepe's outrageous headbutt punctuates another week of uneasy questions for Mikel Arteta. The trio then move over to Anfield, where they marvel at Liverpool's resilient victory over Leicester in the face of an injury crisis, and react to Jurgen Klopp's contentious post-match interview regarding player protection & media culpability. The panel move over to La Liga where Caleb picks up the pieces following a potential season defining defeat for FC Barcelona, at the hands of ruthless contenders Atletico Madrid, and analyzes how the 12th place Blaugrana move forward with an increasingly depleted side. We finish things off in Ligue Un by admiring a resurrection level performance from the veteran Spanish phenom: Cesc Fabregas. If you take anything away from this podcast, know this: Asia (despite what some may think) is not a country.Klopp's post match interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4fR0hjCOmsCorner Kick Themes by William HitelFollow CornerKick on Social Media:https://www.facebook.com/cornerkickmedia/https://twitter.com/CornerKickMedia

Caleb, Nathan, and Nick return with their (over) reactions to the results from week one of the 2020/21 Premier League season. The lads discuss the much hyped impact of Leeds United, whether or not Fulham or West Brom are doomed on arrival, and if Everton's samba-powered midfield can propel them to a European place. The crew also react to Liverpool finally signing Thiago, and Tottenham's dire start to the season, which has seen Jose put up the Bale signal. We then switch gears to Ligue Un to react to the disastrous bust-up that was Marseille's victory over PSG, and dissect what could possibly be the single worst miss of all time from the Belgian League.Marseille vs PSG Brawl Highlights:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYUf6r68CPgAster Vranckx's incredible miss:https://twitter.com/James_Dart/status/1304816146332495879Corner Kick Themes by William HitelFollow CornerKick on Social Media:https://www.facebook.com/cornerkickmedia/https://twitter.com/CornerKickMedia

We very much doubt you need reminding but Liverpool were crowned European champions for the sixth time just under two weeks ago with their historic victory in Madrid sending out a massive statement of intent to the rest of Europe. So that got us thinking... how are the top clubs on the continent reacting to the Reds' win? And how are their summers shaping up? We’ll no doubt be keeping a close eye on what Liverpool’s Premier League rivals are up to throughout pre-season. So for this podcast, the first of two European specials, Paul Wheelock speaks to a French football expert and a German football expert to get the lowdown from Ligue Un and the Bundesliga. Rich Allen is a French football writer and podcaster for Get French Football News and French Football Weekly who we have had on Blood Red before. And we caught up again to talk Paris Saint-Germain, the lesson they should learn from Liverpool, the battle of egos between Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, the rise of Lille, why Jurgen Klopp should not make a move for Nicolas Pepe or Memphis Depay... and, of course, how could we not speak about Nabil Fekir? You will then hear from Goal.com’s Ronan Murphy, in which he talks about the big spending already been done by Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, Klopp’s chance of returning to Germany in the future and whether Timo Werner will be on the market this summer, and whether he would be a good buy for Liverpool. Back to regularly scheduled programming, and that really just means Andrea gushing over Spurs defeating Man City while Steven pretends he doesn't care. This week, the wankers invite Marwan Shousher, professional footy photographer, to join them at the mic and talk mad chisme. The trio discuss Champions League, the title race (which Andrea insists is air tight, much to Steven's dismay), and a teeny tiny recap of MLS and the start of the NWSL season. Learn more about what it's like to do match day photography, and how to defend yourself against bags of batteries from rowdy Marseille fans. And as always, you've got subs if you need 'em.
Welcome to another brand new edition of On The Continent! It's bloody lovely to have you with us. Don't worry though, Paris fans, we're fairly certain they'll wrap it up sooner or later.Elsewhere, there's praise for Bruno Fernandes, criticism for Schalke, and Vincenzo Montella flies back in to Florence to have another crack at the Fiorentina job. Steven and Andrea record a super short and sweet minisode this week to gear up for massive upcoming fixtures and surprise travel plans! Listen is as they still go in on people who compare stadium attendances for the Superbowl vs. the MLS Cup, Alexis Sanchez' new film, Eden Hazard shocking everyone, and Jurgen Klopp bringing the salt. Player of the week? So very clearly the black cat at Goodison Park. Andrea is ecstatic over a Son game winner to give Spurs another 24 hours in 2nd place, Liverpool are bottling it, and Man City score a lot of goals, the EPL remains a faithful companion. The FKWs also go over results in La Liga, Ligue Un, and Bundesliga as well as a dabble in US Soccer. Eric Wynalda continues to defy the odds, and Timmy Weah is literally doing it for the boys in green. It's a World Cup year, so bet your bottom dollar the Wankers will be discussing women's soccer in female intended play in every single episode. You're welcome. Merry Christmas from the Full Kit Wankers! Your favorite soccer podcast hosts wouldn't dream of taking a holiday, not when there's so much December footy to discuss. Of course, the Wankers cover Mourinho's departure from Manchester United, and how he was "tricked" into the meeting leading to his firing. Andrea maybe thought Ole Gunnar Solksjaer's name was just Gunnar, and that Ole was a term of endearment. The Wankers refuse to acknowledge the the possibility that Pochettino will go to United, they marvel over Pogba's big 2pm announcement on Sunday, and revel in Harry Kane's OBE. Gabriel Camargo stars in this week's "not cool moment", proving Colombia hasn't quite moved past sexism just yet. The Wankers run down the Carabao cup quarterfinals, including the North London Derby Part Deux (coys), and the semi final draw before they delve into the USMNT and Gregg Berhalter's first January roster. They cap off the episode with some EPL, lauding Crystal Palace and Leicester City heroes of the weekend, and obsessing over Heung Min Son's finish (sorry Everton). They bid adieu to Ligue Un, La Liga and Bundesliga until early January and read some dope new reviews. Instead of a Wankers Weigh in, Andrea forced Steven to say "cute" a dozen times, in the Cute Christmas Corner segment, where the Wankers discussed different charitable causes teams and supporters' groups had been participating in for the holidays. Let them know of any worthy causes, and they'll post them to social media! Stay tuned for our Boxing Day Special, dropping on December 27th, and as always, even on the holidays, you've got subs if you need 'em.
