L'équipe de ComicsDiscovery se prépare pour Halloween avec la lecture de Swamp Thing - Green Hell de Jeff Lemire et Doug Mahnke, à retrouver chez Urban Comics. ComicsDiscovery ReviewNous commençons donc par découvrir ensemble cette nouvelle aventure de la créature des marais. Swamp Thing Green HellDans le futur, les derniers survivants d'une planète terre dévastée se rassemblent sur le dernier bout de terre restant. Cependant, la nature, incarnée par la sève, le sang et la nécrose, décident de se rebeller et de passer à l'attaque. Le peuple se tourne vers le fameux John Constantine qui ramène Swamp Thing pour les aider. Dans la BoueCe Swamp Thing propose une histoire assez classique et cliché. Encore une fois, l'homme est montré comme le responsable de son malheur et il ne peut que s'autodétruire. Lemire propose d'ailleurs une écriture peu subtile. Les dessins de Mahnke offre des scènes plutôt gores, ce qui est dans l'ambiance d'Halloween, mais malheureusement pas assez marquantes. Ce comics à fait l'unanimité, mais vous l'avez compris, il n'est pas un coup de cœur. Qu'en avez-vous pensé ? This week's review is onLore - No Spoilers! From Grim & Mild Entertainment and host Aaron Mahnke, this week's review is on the award-winning podcast Lore. It is proof that history isn't just events and dates. Myths, legends, folk tales, and creatures are woven throughout our collective history no matter where you are from. In each episode, Mahnke picks one and dives into it, making a snapshot of its culture and psychology. Mahnke isn't just the host but is also the creator, writer, producer, and founder of its network Grim & Mild Entertainment. For those unfamiliar Mahnke has a distinct, divisive, but much-loved diction. If you find it bothers you, try to listen to only a couple of episodes at a time. I will say that so many people love the show it was adapted for television by Amazon, has a Youtube channel, and Penguin Random House has published it as a three-book set. It won Best of 2015 for iTunes, Best History Podcast for the iHeartRadio Podcast Awards as well as a handful of others. Some schools have even incorporated it into their curriculum. On Apple Podcast the show has 4.6 out of 5 stars with 43K ratings. So far there are 227 episodes available for free everywhere with paid episodes sprinkled in on Apple Podcasts. On average they are about 30-35 minutes long and release about once a week. A note on the factual nature of the show… It's a great starting place. It's well-researched and it can be hard to get everything into a 30-minute episode. The subjects it covers are also pretty subjective. That being said there have been many times where people have pointed out missed or falsely interpreted parts. I think it's a great introduction but definitely not the bible. The show's episode sources page on its website is huge and could be a great place to dig deeper if you'd like. Also, be aware a common complaint of the show is the jarring volume of the ads so sleepy listeners beware. My favorite episodes have been Episode 170: Into the Wild, and Episode 42: In the Bag. While there is no swearing the spooky nature of the show might require discretion for younger listeners. Similar Pods: Myths and Legends, Destination Terror, and Let's Talk About Myths, Baby! However, there is a dearth of tools for simultaneous recording and localized receptor modulation in large animal models. We address this limitation by translating multifunctional fiber-based neurotechnology previously only available for rodent studies to enable cortical and subcortical neural modulation in macaques. We record single unit and local field potential activity before, during, and after intracranial GABA infusions in the premotor cortex and putamen. We apply state-space models to characterize changes in neural activity and investigate how neural activity evoked by a working memory task varies in the presence of local inhibition. The recordings provide detailed insight into the electrophysiological effect of neurotransmitter receptor modulation in both cortical and subcortical structures in an awake, behaving macaque. Mit dem SmarterSchreiben-System und künstlicher Intelligenz zum eigenen Buch Ich bin Fabian Mahnke, von klein auf IT-Nerd, Papa eines eineinhalbjährigen Sohnes und verrückt nach thailändischem Essen. Es war schon immer ein Traum von mir, ein Buch zu schreiben. Ich würde gerne zu den Menschen gehören, die sich einfach mit ihrem Laptop in ein Café setzen und Seite für Seite brillante Texte verfassen, aber leider bin ich nicht so. Ich bin eher ein visueller Mensch. Als ich mich daran machte, mein erstes Buch zu schreiben, wusste ich, dass ich ein System brauchte, das mir hilft, meine Gedanken zu ordnen und effizient zu Papier zu bringen. So wurde das SmarterSchreiben-System geboren. Es ist ein System, mit dem du in nur 7 Tagen ein Buch schreiben kannst, selbst wenn du noch nie zuvor ein eigenes Buch geschrieben hast. Und das Beste ist, dass du dafür nur 3-4 Stunden pro Tag brauchst. Du musst dir also trotz der kurzen Zeitspanne von einer Woche nicht die Nächte um die Ohren schlagen, wie es in manchen Klischees oder Karikaturen dargestellt wird. Die Logik, die hinter meinem System steckt, ist dabei einfacher, als man vielleicht auf den ersten Blick denken würde. Was ein smarter Autor heute braucht, sind: genauestens definierte Anweisungen und Prozesse, sodass zu jeder Zeit klar ist, was zu tun ist smarte Tools und Systeme, teils mit KI, die den Ablauf und den Erstellungsprozess um Faktor 10 vereinfachen und damit den Aufwand enorm reduzieren Eine klare Buch-Struktur, basierend auf der Analyse zahlreicher Bestseller, die den Rahmen bildet. Diese ist sogar so wichtig, dass am ersten Arbeitstag des Systems (3-4h) nur daran gearbeitet wird. Sie wird anschließend von Profis bewertet und fein geschliffen, damit ab Tag 2 Vollgas bei der Inhaltserstellung gegeben werden kann. Wenn du also schon immer - so wie ich - ein Buch schreiben wolltest, aber nicht glaubst, dass du die Zeit oder die Fähigkeit dazu hast, ist das SmarterSchreiben-System genau das Richtige für dich. Probiere es aus - du wirst überrascht sein, was du alles erreichen kannst. SmarterSchreiben - Eine persönliche Story von mir Ich habe kürzlich mein zweites Buch veröffentlicht, nämlich genau zu diesem Thema: "In 7 Tagen zum eigenen Buch: das SmarterSchreiben-System". Aber als ich vor ein paar Jahren noch dem ersten Buch stand und lange bevor ich ein System entwickelte, war das echt wie eine Qual. Ich behaupte mal, dass ich recht gut im Copywriting bin. Werbetexte liegen mir, aber ein Buch ist eine ganz andere Hausnummer und erfordert völlig andere Skills. Ich habe mich also immer wieder hingesetzt, geschrieben...das Geschriebene teilweise oder gar komplett wieder gelöscht und wieder geschrieben. Irgendwann - nach einer gefühlten Ewigkeit - hatte ich dann mal ein Kapitel fertig. Vielleicht kommt dir das ja bekannt vor. Jedenfalls musst du wissen, dass ich eher der lean Start-up Mensch bin. Ich bevorzuge schnelle, effiziente Strukturen, kurze Wege, flache Hierarchien, um schnell Ergebnisse zu sehen und diese dann optimieren zu können. Bei einem Buch geht das überhaupt nicht. Zumindest nicht auf dem herkömmlichen Weg. Egal, wie sehr du dich beeilst, es dauert dennoch sehr lange, bis das Buch so richtig Form annimmt. Um ehrlich zu sein, ich habe mein Buchprojekt wirklich jahrelang vor mich hergeschoben. Ich denke, so geht es tatsächlich vielen Unternehmern, Selbstständigen, Freelancern und vielen weiteren Menschen, die sich je vorgenommen haben, ein eigenes Buch zu schreiben. SmarterSchreiben: Mit KI-basiertem Texttool noch einfacher Seit 5 oder 6 Jahren beschäftige ich mich mit dem Thema künstliche Intelligenz in Unternehmen, speziell im Marketing. IT-Nerd eben ;-) jedenfalls beobachtete ich seit dieser Zeit auch das Aufkommen von KI-basierten Texterstellungs-Tools, welche bis dato nur auf Englisch funktionierten. Seit Ende 2020 ungefähr können allerdings auch auf Deutsch brauchbare Texte generiert werden und seit Mitte 2021 sogar richtig gute Texte - wenn man weiß, wie. Das Thema hat mich einfach nicht mehr losgelassen und ich habe wirklich alles ausprobiert und getestet und mittlerweile weit über 1 Million Wörter generiert, mithilfe von KI. Anfang 2022 schoss mir plötzlich der Gedanke durch den Kopf: "was ist, wenn ich es schaffe, dass die KI auch beim Bücherschreiben helfen kann?". Das Feuer war entfacht, das hat mich nicht mehr losgelassen. Mein neues Projekt (ich liebe es, große Ziele zu setzen): ein ganzes Buch an einem Wochenende schreiben! Das Verrückte: es hat geklappt! Es war enorm anstrengend, aber es hat geklappt! Ich hatte alles fein säuberlich dokumentiert, um daraus ein System zu kreieren, welches ich anschließend mit bekannten Unternehmern getestet habe. Das Ergebnis: ein Wochenende für ein ganzes Buch ist machbar, aber sehr anstrengend und die Qualität leidet darunter. Also entzerrte ich alles auf eine Woche. Ich habe den Prozess erneut mit mir selbst und anderen Unternehmern im Rahmen einer Beta-Gruppe getestet und es funktioniert hervorragend! Natürlich flossen gleich weitere Verbesserungen ein. Das Ergebnis: Das SmarterSchreiben-System ist geboren und funktioniert! Dein größter Fehler als Unternehmer?: Ich habe gerade am Anfang meiner Selbstständigkeit zu viel Geld in teure Coachings und Mentorings investiert, die letztendlich wenig bis gar nichts gebracht haben. Dabei gebe ich nicht den Coaches oder den Systemen, die sie lehren, die Schuld. Viele dieser Coachings sind wie Multiplikatoren. Sie beschleunigen dein Business um einen bestimmten Faktor. Wenn dein Business allerdings selbst noch ganz am Anfang steht, dann macht er Zugewinn durch das Coaching noch nicht viel aus. Es ist einfache Mathematik: Ich habe am Anfang meiner Selbstständigkeit vielleicht 3.000 € monatlich verdient. Die Coachings brachten mir dann vielleicht mal 10.000-15.000€ in einem guten Monat ein. Also ein Multiplikator von 5. Angenommen, ich hätte bereits ein Business, bei dem ich konstant 20.000€ im Monat verdiene. Mit einem Coaching-Multiplikator von 5 wäre ich somit bei 100.000€ Umsatz monatlich. Das habe ich leider nicht bedacht und auch nicht gewusst. Sonst hätte ich meine Ressourcen sinnvoller genutzt! This week, we're looking into the shadows and talking to Aaron Mahnke about the phenomenon he created with Lore. The Lore podcast "exposes the darker side of history, exploring the creatures, people, and places of our wildest nightmares." Each episode examines a dark tale from history in a style similar to a campfire experience. Today's episode was in some respects a lesson in humility. Lore and The Great Big Beautiful Podcast debuted three days apart in March of 2015. But Lore has millions of monthly downloads, is consistently at the top of iTunes, has a book deal, and is currently getting adapted for television. We...still have a ways to go. Nevertheless, we had a fantastic and insightful conversation with Mahnke about his journey to Lore, how none of us really has any idea what we're doing, his creative process for creating each episode, his advice for people struggling to find an audience for their art, and how fatherhood shapes what he does.
