Jesus Ministries, Joan Boney ... * Psalm 42 (selected verses) 1 As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. 2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God? 3 My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God? 4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday. 5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise HIM for the help of HIS countenance. 6 O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember THEE from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar. 7 Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of THY waterspouts: all THY waves and THY billows are gone over me. 8 Yet the LORD will command HIS lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night HIS song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life. 9 I will say unto God my rock, Why hast THOU forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? 10 As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God? 11 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise HIM, who is the health of my countenance, and my God. *** Psalm 43 (selected verses) 1 Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation: O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man. 2 For THOU art the God of my strength: why dost THOU cast me off? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? 3 O send out THY light and THY truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto THY holy hill, and to THY tabernacles. 4 Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God. 5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise HIM, who is the health of my countenance, and my God. Praise God: Thank YOU for my salvation! *** * Psalm 44 (selected verses) 1 We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work THOU didst in their days, in the times of old. 2 How THOU didst drive out the heathen with THY hand, and plantedst them; how thou didst afflict the people, and cast them out. 3 For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but THY right hand, and THINE arm, and the light of THY countenance, because THOU hadst a favour unto them. 4 THOU art my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob. 5 Through THEE will we push down our enemies: through THY name (THEE WORD) will we tread them under that rise up against us. 6 For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me. 7 But THOU hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us. 8 In God we boast all the day long, and praise THY name (THE WORD) for ever. 9 But THOU hast cast off, and put us to shame; and goest not forth with our armies. 10 THOU makest us to turn back from the enemy: and they which hate us spoil for themselves. 11 THOU hast given us like sheep appointed for meat; and hast scattered us among the heathen. 12 THOU sellest THY people for nought, and dost not increase THY wealth by their price. 13 THOU makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us. 14 THOU makest us a byword among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the people. 15 My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me, 16 For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and avenger. 17 All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten THEE, neither have we dealt falsely in THY covenant. 18 Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from THY way; 19 Though THOU hast sore broken us in the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death. 20 If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god; 21 Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart. 22 Yea, for THY sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter. 23 Awake, why sleepest THOU, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever. 24 Wherefore hidest THOU THY face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression? 25 For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth unto the earth. 26 Arise for our help, and redeem us for THY mercies' sake. *** Psalm 45 (selected verses) 1 My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer. 2 Thou art fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into thy lips: therefore God hath blessed thee for ever. 3 Gird thy sword upon THY thigh, O most mighty, with THY glory and THY majesty. 4 And in thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things. 5 THINE arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies; whereby the people fall under THEE. 6 THY throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of THY kingdom is a right sceptre. 7 THOU lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. 8 All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad. 9 Kings' daughters were among thy honourable women: upon thy right hand did stand the queen in gold of Ophir. 10 Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy father's house; 11 So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: for he is thy Lord; and worship thou HIM. 12 And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among the people shall intreat thy favour. 13 The king's daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold. 14 She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee. 15 With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the king's palace. 16 Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children, whom thou mayest make princes in all the earth. 17 I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall the people praise thee for ever and ever.
Pois ainda o louvarei; ele é o meu Salvador e 6 o meu Deus. Pois ainda o louvarei; ele é o meu Salvador e o meu Deus.(Salmo 42:1-11 NVI)“Estou em desespero! A tristeza me consome a vista, o vigor e o apetite.”

Nuestro arduo trabajo a menudo pasa desapercibido. No podemos hacerlo solos. Es una verdad reconfortante que Dios nunca tuvo la intención de que camináramos sin compañía. Promete estar con nosotras. También promete Su guía y dirección a medida que conocemos a personas y recibimos oportunidades para servirle. Comenzar es tan simple como sacar la cabeza de debajo de las almohadas y decirle a Dios buenos días.

A jazz és a klasszikus zene egyaránt része az életének, amelyeket mesteri szinten ötvöz. Budapesten született, zenei családba. Zenei tanulmányait hatévesen kezdte, majd a Liszt Ferenc Zeneművészeti Egyetemen diplomázott zongora szakon 2004-ben, kitüntetéssel. Karrierje során számos zenekarban közreműködött, többek között a Mizar és a Mrs. Columbo együttesekben. A Mrs. Columbo tagjaként 2013-ban elnyerte a Fonogram-díjat "Az év jazz albuma" kategóriában, köszönhetően a “[re]make up” című lemezüknek. Nemcsak előadóművész, hanem zeneszerző, es számos albummal büszkélkedhet. Zeneszerzőként, és elõadóként is számos díjat szerzett. 2010-ben a "No Time to Lose" című szerzeménye elnyerte a franciaországi International Songwriting Contest jazz kategóriájának fődíját. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness (Sermon on the Mount Series) Episode 5 - Sunday, 10th November 2024.What is righteousness? - Simply put - Righteousness is living God's way.Sermon on the Mount Series Episode 5 [Matthew 5:6 (KJV) - "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled"] 1. What is righteousness?Psalm 11:7 For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright. Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. Romans 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit2. What does it mean to hunger and thirst after righteousness?Psalm 42:1-6 To the chief Musician, Maschil, for the sons of Korah. As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. 6 O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.3. They shall be filled. John 6:34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. 35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.John 4:13-15 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: 14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. 15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
If you have sharp eyes or good binoculars, you can sometimes see double in the night sky – two stars that are quite close together. In some cases, the stars really are close – they can be bound to each other by gravity, forming a binary. In other cases, though, it’s just a coincidence. The stars are unrelated, but they just happen to line up in the same direction. These stars are known as optical doubles. And some of them are beautiful sights – especially when viewed through a telescope. The two members can show different colors, providing a nice contrast. One of the best-known examples is Albireo. It marks the head of Cygnus, the swan, and it’s high overhead at nightfall. A small telescope reveals one blue star and one gold star. The best measurements to date indicate that the stars are about 30 light-years apart. An example that’s visible to the eye alone is Algedi, in Capricornus. It’s due south at nightfall. The eye can just make it out as two separate points of light. The stars are hundreds of light-years apart. Sometimes, it’s hard to tell if a double star is a binary or not. The best example is Mizar and Alcor, in the handle of the Big Dipper. It’s fairly easy to see the stars as two points of light. They actually move through space together, so they probably were born together. But astronomers aren’t sure if they’re a true binary – or just two related stars moving through space on their own. The Readings2 Corinthians 8:7-15English Standard VersionBut as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all earnestness, and in our love for you—see that you excel in this act of grace also.I say this not as a command, but to prove by the earnestness of others that your love also is genuine. For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich. And in this matter I give my judgment: this benefits you, who a year ago started not only to do this work but also to desire to do it. So now finish doing it as well, so that your readiness in desiring it may be matched by your completing it out of what you have. For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have. For I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened, but that as a matter of fairness your abundance at the present time should supply their need, so that their abundance may supply your need, that there may be fairness. As it is written, “Whoever gathered much had nothing left over, and whoever gathered little had no lack.”The Word of the LordThanks Be to God Mark 3:6-12English Standard VersionThe Pharisees went out and immediately held counsel with the Herodians against him, how to destroy him.Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the sea, and a great crowd followed, from Galilee and Judea and Jerusalem and Idumea and from beyond the Jordan and from around Tyre and Sidon. When the great crowd heard all that he was doing, they came to him. And he told his disciples to have a boat ready for him because of the crowd, lest they crush him, for he had healed many, so that all who had diseases pressed around him to touch him. And whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.” And he strictly ordered them not to make him known. The Word of the LordThanks Be to GodThe Apostles' CreedI believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth;I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. ExamenIn God's presence, think through the day ahead:the work you will do, the people you will encounter, the dangers or uncertainties you face, the possibilities for joy and acts of kindness, any particular resolutions you need to renew, consider what might draw you from the love of God and neighbor, the opportunities you will have to know and serve God and to grow in virtue, remember those closest to you and all for whom you have agreed to pray, ask God's blessings, guidance, and strength in all that lies before you. Gather up these thoughts and reflections in the wordsOur Savior taught us to say: The Lord's PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen. The Collects of the DayGrant to us, Lord, we pray, the spirit to think and do always those things that are right, that we, who cannot exist without you, may by you be enabled to live according to your will; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. Lord God, almighty and everlasting Father, you have brought us in safety to this new day: Preserve us with your mighty power, that we may not fall into sin, nor be overcome by adversity; and in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Closing PrayersA Prayer of St. ChrysostomAlmighty God, you have given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplication to you; and you have promised through your well-beloved Son that when two or three are gathered together in his Name you will be in the midst of them: Fulfill now, O Lord, our desires and petitions as may be best for us; granting us in this world knowledge of your truth, and in the age to come life everlasting. Amen. Glory be to the + Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.Lord, have mercy! Do we not have the right to eat and drink? Do we not have the right to take along a believing wife, as do the other apostles and the brothers of the Lord and Cephas? Or is it only Barnabas and I who have no right to refrain from working for a living? Who serves as a soldier at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard without eating any of its fruit? Or who tends a flock without getting some of the milk?Do I say these things on human authority? Does not the Law say the same? For it is written in the Law of Moses, “You shall not muzzle an ox when it treads out the grain.” Is it for oxen that God is concerned? Does he not certainly speak for our sake? It was written for our sake, because the plowman should plow in hope and the thresher thresh in hope of sharing in the crop. If we have sown spiritual things among you, is it too much if we reap material things from you? If others share this rightful claim on you, do not we even more?Nevertheless, we have not made use of this right, but we endure anything rather than put an obstacle in the way of the gospel of Christ. The Word of the LordThanks Be to God Luke 8:1-13English Standard VersionSoon afterward he went on through cities and villages, proclaiming and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with him, and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, and Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod's household manager, and Susanna, and many others, who provided for them out of their means. And when a great crowd was gathering and people from town after town came to him, he said in a parable, “A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell along the path and was trampled underfoot, and the birds of the air devoured it. And some fell on the rock, and as it grew up, it withered away, because it had no moisture. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up with it and choked it. And some fell into good soil and grew and yielded a hundredfold.” As he said these things, he called out, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”And when his disciples asked him what this parable meant, he said, “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of God, but for others they are in parables, so that ‘seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.' Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. The ones along the path are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. And the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy. But these have no root; they believe for a while, and in time of testing fall away. Amen. The Collects of the DayAlmighty God, whose blessed Son restored Mary Magdalene to health of body and of mind, and called her to be a witness of his resurrection: Mercifully grant that by your grace we may be healed from all our infirmities and know you in the power of his unending life; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, now and for ever. (3x)God, be gracious to us and bless us and shine Your countenance upon us and have mercy on us.This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it!The Father+ is my hope; the Son, my refuge; the Holy Spirit, my protection: All-Holy Trinity, glory to You!Amen!

A horse and rider gallop across the north and northwest on May evenings. They're in the handle of the Big Dipper, which is high in the sky at nightfall and low in the northwest at dawn. They're the stars Mizar and Alcor. Mizar is the brighter of the two, with fainter Alcor just a whisker away. They're so close together that the skywatchers of bygone centuries thought of them as a horse and rider. Mizar is a system of four stars, all of which are a little hotter and brighter than the Sun. Alcor consists of two stars — one of them more impressive than the Sun, the other less impressive. Both systems lie about 80 light-years from Earth. One question that astronomers have asked for centuries is whether the two systems are bound to each other, or if they just happen to line up in the same direction in the sky. They're both members of a wide-spread cluster. That makes Mizar and Alcor stellar siblings — they formed at the same time, from the same cloud of gas and dust. Just how close their relationship is has remained a mystery. Early observations said the systems were perhaps two or three light-years apart. At that range, they probably would not be gravitationally bound to each other. But observations over the past few years by the Gaia space telescope put the separation at roughly one light-year. That may be close enough for them to be saddled together as a single unit — just like a horse and rider. Script by Damond Benningfield

The LessonsHosea 6:1-6English Standard Version6 “Come, let us return to the Lord; for he has torn us, that he may heal us; he has struck us down, and he will bind us up.2 After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will raise us up, that we may live before him.3 Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord; his going out is sure as the dawn;he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth.”4 What shall I do with you, O Ephraim? What shall I do with you, O Judah?Your love is like a morning cloud, like the dew that goes early away.5 Therefore I have hewn them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of my mouth, and my judgment goes forth as the light.6 For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.Officiant: The Word of the LordPeople: Thanks be to God. Amen. Hebrews 10:1-25English Standard Version10 For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near. 2 Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, since the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have any consciousness of sins? 3 But in these sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. 4 For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.5 Consequently, when Christ came into the world, he said,“Sacrifices and offerings you have not desired, but a body have you prepared for me;6 in burnt offerings and sin offerings you have taken no pleasure.7 Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come to do your will, O God, as it is written of me in the scroll of the book.'”8 When he said above, “You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings” (these are offered according to the law), 9 then he added, “Behold, I have come to do your will.” He does away with the first in order to establish the second. 10 And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.11 And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13 waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. 14 For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.15 And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying,16 “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, declares the Lord:I will put my laws on their hearts, and write them on their minds,”17 then he adds,“I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.”18 Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin.19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, 20 by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. Officiant: The Word of the LordPeople: Thanks be to God. The Song of Simeon - Nunc dimittisLord, you now have set your servant free * to go in peace as you have promised; For these eyes of mine have seen the Savior, * whom you have prepared for all the world to see: A Light to enlighten the nations, * and the glory of your people Israel.Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: * as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. The Song of Mary - MagnificatMy soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Savior; * for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant From this day all generations will call me blessed: * the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his Name. He has mercy on those who fear him * in every generation. He has shown the strength of his arm, * he has scattered the proud in their conceit. He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, * and has lifted up the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, * and the rich he has sent away empty. He has come to the help of his servant Israel, * for he has remembered his promise of mercy, The promise he made to our fathers, * to Abraham and his children for ever.Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: *as It was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen. John 9:1-23English Standard Version9 As he passed by, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 And his disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” 3 Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him. 4 We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” 6 Having said these things, he spit on the ground and made mud with the saliva. Then he anointed the man's eyes with the mud 7 and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which means Sent). So he went and washed and came back seeing.8 The neighbors and those who had seen him before as a beggar were saying, “Is this not the man who used to sit and beg?” 9 Some said, “It is he.” Others said, “No, but he is like him.” He kept saying, “I am the man.” 10 So they said to him, “Then how were your eyes opened?” 11 He answered, “The man called Jesus made mud and anointed my eyes and said to me, ‘Go to Siloam and wash.' So I went and washed and received my sight.” 12 They said to him, “Where is he?” He said, “I do not know.”13 They brought to the Pharisees the man who had formerly been blind. 14 Now it was a Sabbath day when Jesus made the mud and opened his eyes. 15 So the Pharisees again asked him how he had received his sight. And he said to them, “He put mud on my eyes, and I washed, and I see.” 16 Some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath.” But others said, “How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?” And there was a division among them. 17 So they said again to the blind man, “What do you say about him, since he has opened your eyes?” He said, “He is a prophet.”18 The Jews did not believe that he had been blind and had received his sight, until they called the parents of the man who had received his sight 19 and asked them, “Is this your son, who you say was born blind? How then does he now see?” 20 His parents answered, “We know that this is our son and that he was born blind. 21 But how he now sees we do not know, nor do we know who opened his eyes. Ask him; he is of age. He will speak for himself.” 22 (His parents said these things because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had already agreed that if anyone should confess Jesus to be Christ, he was to be put out of the synagogue.) 23 Therefore his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.” Officiant: The Word of the LordPeople: Thanks be to God. Psalm 42 " As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?3 My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.6 O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.7 Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.8 Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.9 I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?10 As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God?11 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God."

Psalm 42 1 As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants after you, God. 2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? 3 My tears have been my food day and night, while they continually ask me, “Where is your God?” 4 These things I remember, and pour out my soul within me, how I used to go with the crowd, and led them to God’s house, with the voice of joy and praise, a multitude keeping a holy day. 5 Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him for the saving help of his presence. 6 My God, my soul is in despair within me. Therefore I remember you from the land of the Jordan, the heights of Hermon, from the hill Mizar. 7 Deep calls to deep at the noise of your waterfalls. All your waves and your billows have swept over me. 8 Yahweh will command his loving kindness in the daytime. In the night his song shall be with me: a prayer to the God of my life. 9 I will ask God, my rock, “Why have you forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?” 10 As with a sword in my bones, my adversaries reproach me, while they continually ask me, “Where is your God?” 11 Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him, the saving help of my countenance, and my God. Right mouse click or tap here to save this Podcast as a MP3. The LessonsMalachi 2:1-9 English Standard Version2 “And now, O priests, this command is for you. 2 If you will not listen, if you will not take it to heart to give honor to my name, says the Lord of hosts, then I will send the curse upon you and I will curse your blessings. Indeed, I have already cursed them, because you do not lay it to heart. 3 Behold, I will rebuke your offspring, and spread dung on your faces, the dung of your offerings, and you shall be taken away with it. 4 So shall you know that I have sent this command to you, that my covenant with Levi may stand, says the Lord of hosts. 5 My covenant with him was one of life and peace, and I gave them to him. It was a covenant of fear, and he feared me. He stood in awe of my name. 6 True instruction was in his mouth, and no wrong was found on his lips. He walked with me in peace and uprightness, and he turned many from iniquity. 7 For the lips of a priest should guard knowledge, and people should seek instruction from his mouth, for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts. 8 But you have turned aside from the way. You have caused many to stumble by your instruction. You have corrupted the covenant of Levi, says the Lord of hosts, 9 and so I make you despised and abased before all the people, inasmuch as you do not keep my ways but show partiality in your instruction.”Officiant: The Word of the LordPeople: Thanks be to God. You overcame the sting of death and opened the kingdom of heaven to all believers. You are seated at God's right hand in glory. We believe that you will come and be our judge.Come then, Lord, and help your people, bought with the price of your own blood, and bring us with your saints to glory everlasting. Matthew 9:35-10:15 English Standard Version35 And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”10 And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction. 2 The names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; 3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; 4 Simon the Zealot, and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.5 These twelve Jesus sent out, instructing them, “Go nowhere among the Gentiles and enter no town of the Samaritans, 6 but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 And proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.' 8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay. 9 Acquire no gold or silver or copper for your belts, 10 no bag for your journey, or two tunics or sandals or a staff, for the laborer deserves his food. 11 And whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy in it and stay there until you depart. 12 As you enter the house, greet it. 13 And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it, but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. 14 And if anyone will not receive you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet when you leave that house or town. 15 Truly, I say to you, it will be more bearable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town.Officiant: The Word of the LordPeople: Thanks be to God. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen. The LessonsIsaiah 9:8-17 English Standard VersionThe Lord has sent a word against Jacob, and it will fall on Israel;and all the people will know, Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria, who say in pride and in arrogance of heart:“The bricks have fallen, but we will build with dressed stones;the sycamores have been cut down, but we will put cedars in their place.”But the Lord raises the adversaries of Rezin against him, and stirs up his enemies. The Syrians on the east and the Philistines on the west devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger has not turned away, and his hand is stretched out still. The people did not turn to him who struck them, nor inquire of the Lord of hosts. So the Lord cut off from Israel head and tail, palm branch and reed in one day—the elder and honored man is the head, and the prophet who teaches lies is the tail;for those who guide this people have been leading them astray, and those who are guided by them are swallowed up.Therefore the Lord does not rejoice over their young men, and has no compassion on their fatherless and widows;for everyone is godless and an evildoer, and every mouth speaks folly. For all this his anger has not turned away, and his hand is stretched out still.Officiant: The Word of the LordPeople: Thanks be to God. Amen. Revelation 11:15-19 English Standard VersionThen the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever.” And the twenty-four elders who sit on their thrones before God fell on their faces and worshiped God, saying,“We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, who is and who was,for you have taken your great power and begun to reign. The nations raged, but your wrath came, and the time for the dead to be judged, and for rewarding your servants, the prophets and saints, and those who fear your name, both small and great, and for destroying the destroyers of the earth.”Then God's temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant was seen within his temple. There were flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake, and heavy hail.Officiant: The Word of the LordPeople: Thanks be to God. Text: Psalm 42:1-11 1 As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. 2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? 3 My tears have been my food day and night, while they say to me all the day long, “Where is your God?” 4 These things I remember, as I pour out my soul: how I would go with the throng and lead them in procession to the house of God with glad shouts and songs of praise, a multitude keeping festival. 5 Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation 6 and my God. My soul is cast down within me; therefore I remember you from the land of Jordan and of Hermon, from Mount Mizar. 7 Deep calls to deep at the roar of your waterfalls; all your breakers and your waves have gone over me. 8 By day the LORD commands his steadfast love, and at night his song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life. 9 I say to God, my rock: “Why have you forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?” 10 As with a deadly wound in my bones, my adversaries taunt me, while they say to me all the day long, “Where is your God?” 11 Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God. -Psa 42:1-11 ESV HOPE IN GOD This is the first of the second "book" of Psalms, continuing through Psalm 72. The authorship is unclear, although the author may have been a worship leader in the sanctuary (v.4). The text refers to "the Sons of Korah," likely to mean the descendants of a group spared from their family's destruction after the exodus (Num 26:9–11). No doubt, this psalm expresses an intense desire to know God intimately. The psalmist compares his thirst for God to a deer's thirst for flowing water. [v.1,2] The Hebrew term translated as "pant" or "panting" implies an intense experience. This is not a simple thirst, but rather a desperate need for something vital, associated with pain and anguish.[v.3] To add insult to injury, his enemies are mocking him, taunting him, saying, "Where is your God?"[see v.3,10] The Bible commends those who hunger and thirst for righteousness. In fact, Jesus said , "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied" (Mat 5:6). Jesus is the only quencher of soul's thirst (John 4:13–14). He was situated in a remote place, at Mt. Mizar, the peak of Mt. Hermon. And, in his musings, he recalled his past. He was leading a procession of worshipers to the sanctuary in Jerusalem. This strongly suggests the writer was a worship leader. Perhaps the festival alluded to in this verse was the Feast of Tabernacles (Lev 23:39–43). As the multitude moved along, they shouted with joy and sang praises. Such a joyous experience is gone, haunting him. Are you in a place where there is no Christian fellowship? Do you miss the gathering of God's people? [Heb 10:24-25] However, the psalmist refused to let depression to win. He told his soul to hope in God. He resolved, “ Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation 6 and my God. My soul is cast down within me; therefore I remember you from the land of Jordan and of Hermon, from Mount Mizar.”[ v.5-6 & 11] His grief is like floods cascading over his head. Nevertheless, he refers to those floods as the Lord's "breakers and waves." As he describes, “Deep calls to deep at the roar of your waterfalls; all your breakers and your waves have gone over me.”[v.7] This would imply a constant barrage: an unending chain of these overwhelming feelings and experiences. The depths of the psalmist's desire for God call out for an intense response from the Lord as Jonah was in the belly of the fish.[Jonah 2:3] When trials sweep over a believer, he can take courage, knowing that the Lord has a purpose in allowing those trials.
Five of the stars that make up the Big Dipper are like a great report card: straight “A”s. All five stars are members of class A — stars that are bigger, hotter, and brighter than the Sun. The dipper is in the northwest at nightfall, with its bowl below the handle. The stars at the tip of the handle and the lip of the bowl are outliers — they line up in the same direction as the rest of the dipper, but otherwise they're unrelated. But the five stars in the middle have a lot in common. They were born together, from the same giant cloud of gas and dust. Their nursery has long since broken up, but they still hang out together — they move through the galaxy at about the same speed, and in the same direction. They're all roughly 80 light-years from Earth. And all five stars are class A. That puts them in the top one percent or so of all the stars in the galaxy. The stars range from about one and a half to three times the mass of the Sun, and from about 15 to a hundred times the Sun's brightness. And as a reflection of their common birth, they're all just a fraction of the Sun's age — a few hundred million years old. From the second star in the handle to the lower corner of the bowl, the class-A stars are Mizar, Alioth, Megrez, Phecda, and Merak. Megrez, which connects the handle to the bowl, is by far the smallest and faintest. But it's still impressive — one of the “straight-A” stars of the Big Dipper. This is the thrid time I've had Bill on the podcast and this episode is very practical becasue it will get you outside at night time to find some cool things in the sky. Here is a list of some of the items we talk about:Magnification: amount of times you are brought closer to the object Objective glass: (the big one at the end) measured in millimetres Asterism: A piece of a constellation such as Regulus (a white star) in the constellation Leo.Two stars “up” from that is gamma Leo, a golden double star. The Big Dipper is high above us and the handle arcs to Arcturus, another golden star. The globular star cluster M3, slightly west and then north of Arcturus.Alcor and Mizar, a double star in the middle of the handle of the Big Dipper. The pointer stars (Dubhe and Merak) in the Big Dipper show up where one is bluish and the other more yellow. The Moon: craters, shadows, the “seas”, 600 features visible on the Moon that are named and visible with binoculars.Jupiter and the four Galilean moons, identifying them by their position which can be looked up easily on line.Andromeda the nearest galaxy. This is being pointed at by the constellation Cassiopeia.Mars is kind of red.Saturn is kind of yellow. And you won't see the rings through a pair of binoculars.Venus is tricky because it's so bright that it becomes difficult to notice it's phases.Much of this will require some explanation, but that's where Bill comes in and explains it. I suspect you'll be using the pause button a few times as you look for the stars and features of the sky Bill refers to. But have some fun with it and when you feel you're ready, take your students outside and hunt for these stellar objects along with them. It'll be fun!
As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?3 My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.6 O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.7 Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.8 Yet the Lord will command his lovingkindness in the day time, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.9 I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?10 As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God?11 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
As you read Psalms 42 and 43 you can't help but feel the despair of the writer. At least three times in these two Psalms he asked the question, “Why are you cast down, O my soul, why are you disquieted with me”? (vv. 42:5, 11; 43:5) And he begins this section of verses with the statement, “My soul is cast down within me” (42:6). He feels like God has forgotten him (v. 9). He is hearing the enemies of God mocking him and his God by asking, “Where is your God?” (vv. 3, 10). This sounds a lot like the mockers and enemies of God in our country today! Whenever there is a shooting or something bad happens and the Christians say they are praying for our country and the situation, they mock and declare, “Where is your God now”. “Your prayers didn't help at all!”. Basically, they are saying, “We don't need God! We need more laws and gun control”. So, what was the response of the Psalmist in these two chapters? He first expressed a deep longing and desire for His God (vv. 1-2). He went on to say that when he remembered their mocking and disdain, and what it used to be like when he was free to go and worship with the multitudes that loved the Lord, he was overwhelmed with sadness (v. 4). Now in verses 6 and 7, the emotional and spiritual landscape changes from drought to a storm, with the writer feeling like he was drowning in sorrow and pain. The Jordan River has its source in the Hermon range, and the rains and melting snow would turn the rivulets into cascades of water and dangerous cataracts, a picture of intense suffering (69:1-2; 88:7; Jonah 2:4). "Mizar" means "littleness," and certainly the writer felt very small in the midst of that storm. But he made a wise decision when he decided to remember God and not "the good old days" (v. 6). The cascades, cataracts, and waves were in God's hands and the psalmist had nothing to fear. This reminds us of the night Jesus walked on the water and frightened His disciples, yet He was in full command of the situation (Matt. 14:22-33). God was in command (v. 8; see Psalm 33:9; 44:4; 71:3; 91:11), a new day would dawn, and the situation would look different. Like David's storm experience recorded in Psalm 29, we should see God on His throne and anticipate the glory and peace after the storm. Especially this week, believers should remember that the waves of God's wrath went over Jesus on the cross when He experienced His Calvary "baptism" (Matt. 20:22; Luke 12:50). It might be “Friday”, but Sunday is coming!!!! Meanwhile, God can give us "songs in the night" (v.8) as we wait for the dawning of a new day (Psalm 77:4-6; Job 35:10; Matt. 26:30; Acts 16:25). In verse 8, the writer used Jehovah instead of Elohim, and this was a turning point in his difficult experience. Jehovah is the God of the covenant, the faithful God who cares for His people. He is the God who showers His people with lovingkindness, gives them promises they can claim when they pray, and hears them when they praise and worship. The writer didn't have to go to Jerusalem to worship; he could worship God right where he was! The hand of God was with him in the daytime and the song of the Lord in the long hours of the night. Everything might be changing, but the Lord was still his Rock—stable, strong, and unchanging. (See Psalm 18:2, 31, 46; Ex, 33:22; Deut. 32:4; 1 Sam. 2:2.) Today, may the Lord help us to remember how great and powerful our God is, despite how bad the storms of ungodliness and evil rage around us! And we should always remember that He never changes and has promised to always be with us and never forsake us (Hebrews 13:5-8)! God bless!

3 Envía tu luz y tu verdad; éstas me guiarán; Me conducirán a tu santo monte, Y a tus moradas. These chapters tell the story of Sandhyā, the first female born in the universe, who later because Arundhatī, the wife of Vasiṣṭha, one of the seven sages (saptaṛṣi). The name Arundhatī in Sanskrit literally means 'washed from the rays of sun', from arun 'sun rays', and dhatī , 'washed'. She is the grandmother of Parāśara and the great-grandmother of Vyāsa. Śiva Purāṇa describes her as Sandhyā, the mind-born daughter of Brahmā. On instruction of Vasiṣṭha, Sandhyā pleased Śiva by penance in order to purify herself from passion. She was then born as Medhātithi's daughter and married Vasiṣṭha. Arundhatī is identified with the star Alcor, which forms a double star with Mizar (identified as Vasiṣṭha Mahaṛṣi) in Ursa Major. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/shivadyuti/message

I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God? ...

Second Sunday after Pentecost The Collect: O Lord, make us have perpetual love and reverence for your holy Name, for you never fail to help and govern those whom you have set upon the sure foundation of your loving-kindness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. Old Testament: 1 Kings 19:1-4, (5-7), 8-15a 1Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. 2Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “So may the gods do to me, and more also, if I do not make your life like the life of one of them by this time tomorrow.” 3Then he was afraid; he got up and fled for his life, and came to Beer-sheba, which belongs to Judah; he left his servant there. 4But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a solitary broom tree. He asked that he might die: “It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life, for I am no better than my ancestors.” [5Then he lay down under the broom tree and fell asleep. Suddenly an angel touched him and said to him, “Get up and eat.” 6He looked, and there at his head was a cake baked on hot stones, and a jar of water. He ate and drank, and lay down again. 7The angel of the Lord came a second time, touched him, and said, “Get up and eat, otherwise the journey will be too much for you.”] 8He got up, and ate and drank; then he went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb the mount of God. 9At that place he came to a cave, and spent the night there. Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”10He answered, “I have been very zealous for the Lord, the God of hosts; for the Israelites have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword. I alone am left, and they are seeking my life, to take it away.” 11He said, “Go out and stand on the mountain before the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Now there was a great wind, so strong that it was splitting mountains and breaking rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake;12and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a sound of sheer silence. 13When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. Then there came a voice to him that said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 14He answered, “I have been very zealous for the Lord, the God of hosts; for the Israelites have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword. I alone am left, and they are seeking my life, to take it away.” 15Then the Lord said to him, “Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus.” Psalm: Psalm 42 and 43 1 As the deer longs for the water-brooks, * so longs my soul for you, O God. 2 My soul is athirst for God, athirst for the living God; * when shall I come to appear before the presence of God? 3 My tears have been my food day and night, * while all day long they say to me, “Where now is your God?” 4 I pour out my soul when I think on these things: * how I went with the multitude and led them into the house of God, 5 With the voice of praise and thanksgiving, * among those who keep holy-day. 6 Why are you so full of heaviness, O my soul? * and why are you so disquieted within me? 7 Put your trust in God; * for I will yet give thanks to him, who is the help of my countenance, and my God. 8 My soul is heavy within me; * therefore I will remember you from the land of Jordan, and from the peak of Mizar among the heights of Hermon. 9 One deep calls to another in the noise of your cataracts; * all your rapids and floods have gone over me. 10 The Lord grants his loving-kindness in the daytime; * in the night season his song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life. 11 I will say to the God of my strength, “Why have you forgotten me? * and why do I go so heavily while the enemy oppresses me?” 12 While my bones are being broken, * my enemies mock me to my face; 13 All day long they mock me * and say to me, “Where now is your God?” 14 Why are you so full of heaviness, O my soul? * and why are you so disquieted within me? 15 Put your trust in God; * for I will yet give thanks to him, who is the help of my countenance, and my God. 1 Give judgment for me, O God, and defend my cause against an ungodly people; * deliver me from the deceitful and the wicked. 2 For you are the God of my strength; why have you put me from you? * and why do I go so heavily while the enemy oppresses me? 3 Send out your light and your truth, that they may lead me, * and bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling; 4 That I may go to the altar of God, to the God of my joy and gladness; * and on the harp I will give thanks to you, O God my God. 5 Why are you so full of heaviness, O my soul? * and why are you so disquieted within me? 6 Put your trust in God; * for I will yet give thanks to him, who is the help of my countenance, and my God. Epistle: Galatians 3:23-29 23Now before faith came, we were imprisoned and guarded under the law until faith would be revealed. 24Therefore the law was our disciplinarian until Christ came, so that we might be justified by faith. 25But now that faith has come, we are no longer subject to a disciplinarian, 26for in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith. 27As many of you as were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus. 29And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to the promise. Gospel: Luke 8:26-39 26Then they arrived at the country of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee. 27As he stepped out on land, a man of the city who had demons met him. For a long time he had worn no clothes, and he did not live in a house but in the tombs. 28When he saw Jesus, he fell down before him and shouted at the top of his voice, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, do not torment me”— 29for Jesus had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. (For many times it had seized him; he was kept under guard and bound with chains and shackles, but he would break the bonds and be driven by the demon into the wilds.) 30Jesus then asked him, “What is your name?” He said, “Legion”; for many demons had entered him. 31They begged him not to order them to go back into the abyss. 32Now there on the hillside a large herd of swine was feeding; and the demons begged Jesus to let them enter these. So he gave them permission. 33Then the demons came out of the man and entered the swine, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned. 34When the swineherds saw what had happened, they ran off and told it in the city and in the country.35Then people came out to see what had happened, and when they came to Jesus, they found the man from whom the demons had gone sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid.36Those who had seen it told them how the one who had been possessed by demons had been healed. 37Then all the people of the surrounding country of the Gerasenes asked Jesus to leave them; for they were seized with great fear. So he got into the boat and returned. 38The man from whom the demons had gone begged that he might be with him; but Jesus sent him away, saying, 39“Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.” So he went away, proclaiming throughout the city how much Jesus had done for him.
