A journey through 35 years of house from the godfather of UK rave. In popular mythology, the '90s are without question, the halcyon days of dance music—an era of free raves and unadulterated hedonism. It's a myth that Matthew Nelson, AKA Slipmatt, knows better than most–he was there. During the late '80s, as the rave scene in the UK began to boom, Nelson began moonlighting as a DJ. He would land his first residency at Raindance, the East London rave that launched in September 1989 and would become the UK's first legal rave. By 1991 , he'd reach number two in the UK charts with "On A Ragga Tip" as one-half of SL2 and two years later, sell over 10,000 copies of SMD#1. Nelson has got a lot to share (as you'll see in his interview) so we'll let him do the talking. He's been variously called the godfather of rave and happy hardcore, but what you'll hear on RA.958 is as "a journey through my 35 years of house." A DJ with this much pedigree brings much more than that, of course: touching on the breakbeat, jungle and acid house that soundtracked that golden age, as well as nods to the rich cross-pollination with scenes beyond the UK, from Joey Beltram's "Energy Flash" to Stardust's "Music Sounds Better With You." In true Nile Rodgers fashion, let's cut straight to the chorus and get this disco party started!
UDM: Start - 0:16 and End -7:29Ukrainian Trance producer Dmitriy Uskov who goes by UDM, has been making waves on the music scene since 2010. Check out his latest track “Sunlit”. “Sunlit '' is out now via Activate Recordings and it's available on all streaming platforms. Despite his global recognition for his contributions to Trance music, UDM prefers to keep a low profile and focus on the music itself. His tracks have gained much radio support from renowned DJ's like Paul van Dyk, Aly & Fila, and Alex M.O.R.P.H., which has only served to further enhance his standing within the industry. For the latest on UDM's upcoming projects visit: Facebook.com/UDMTrance; that's Facebook.com/U-D-M-T-R-A-N-C-E. Andhim: Start – 7:33 and End – 14:12Simon Haehnel and Tobia Muller, the DJ and Producer duo from Germany, came together to form Andhim in 2010. With over 60 songs, remixes and collaborations with notable artists such as Diplo, Högni Egilsson, Groove Armada, and Elderbrook, these guys have made quite a name for themselves in the house genre. Take a listen to their latest track “I love you”. “I love you” is out now via Superfriends Records and it's available on all streaming platforms. Andhim are famous for being one of most accomplished DJ duos in the industry; having played over 100 international shows every year and holding residencies in New York, Los Angeles, London, and Melbourne. Vinyl's From The Past: 14:15 to 22:02I am going to take a brief break for Vinyl's From The Past. In this limited run series, I will be exploring the pioneers that have shaped and influenced the EDM we have today. In this episode I will be featuring “Stardust”. In 1998 three of the top names in French House music, “Stardust” was a supergroup comprised of Thomas Bangalter from Daft Punk, Alan Braxe as producer and Benjamin Diamond as EDM vocalist. Together these three created an iconic trio in the genre. They released on single called "Music Sounds Better With You" and it quickly became a worldwide hit, achieving the number one spot in both US and UK charts. Take a listen to it here. The originality behind "Music Sounds Better With You" was remarkable. From the simple sampling of a guitar loop from Chaka Khan's “Fate”, “Stardust” created a unique sound not heard in mainstream techno and trance of the 90s. This melding of disco beats with repetitive lyrics created a captivating groove that sparked renewed interest in disco and house music, leading to the resurgence of French house. Unfortunately, this was the only song released by “Stardust” afterwards they disbanded. That's it for this week's Vinyl's from the past; now let's get back to more music. Italobros: Start – 22:04 and End – 25:32Coming from Scalea,

On this week's Talkhouse Podcast we have a pair of French electronic music pioneers who recently teamed up alongside a DJ who's been responsible for some of the most exciting production of the past 20+ years: Braxe and Falcon with A-Trak. Alan Braxe and his cousin Stephane Quem—aka DJ Falcon—are legends of French house music going back decades: Braxe was one-third of the trio Stardust alongside Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter. They famously released just one song in 1998 before splitting up, but “Music Sounds Better With You” is a classic of the genre. Falcon's biggest claim to fame might also be Daft Punk adjacent: He co-wrote and co-produced their song “Contact,” from 2013's Random Access Memories. And though they've obviously been acquainted forever, Braxe and Falcon only recently came together for a project, and it's pretty amazing. Their debut EP, Step By Step, includes a killer title track with an appearance by Panda Bear. Braxe and Falcon will make their live debut in November with two U.S. shows, one in New York and another in L.A. Check out “Step by Step” right here. That EP also features a remix by Braxe and Falcon's old friend DJ A-Trak, a superstar of the electronic world whose resume makes me feel very lazy. As a young guy, he was a championship-level turntablist in his native Canada, which led to a years-long role on stage with Kanye West. His career continued as a headlining DJ and producer in his own right: He's known both for creating his own sounds and remixing big names. He also runs the vaunted Fool's Gold label and collaborates with lots of other folks, including Armand Van Helden in Duck Sauce. A-Track's latest project is a collaborative album with elusive hip-hop icon Cam'ron called U Wasn't There, which comes out September 23. Check out “All I Really Wanted” from that upcoming record. In this chat, Braxe, Falcon, and A-Trak talk about the sonic intersections of house music and old-school hip-hop, they discuss the ups and downs of the forced Covid break, and there's a lot of gear talk—which is a whole different thing when you're talking about samplers and keyboards instead of guitars and pedals. It's a lot of fun, and I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for listening to the Talkhouse Podcast and thanks to Braxe, Falcon, and A-Trak for chatting. If you liked what you heard, please follow Talkhouse on your favorite podcasting platform, and check out Talkhouse.com for all kinds of great written features. This episode was produced by Myron Kaplan, and the Talkhouse theme is composed and performed by the Range. See you next time!
Alan Braxe and DJ Falcon are pioneers of French house music, releasing on Thomas Bangalter's Roulé label. In 1998, Braxe released ‘Music Sounds Better With You' as one-third of Stardust, while DJ Falcon broke out with tracks like ‘Together'. Now the producers (also cousins) are teaming up to release new music as duo Braxe + Falcon. In this episode, learn about Braxe's penchant for affordable speakers, the lesser-known converters they use for all mixes, why they love modular and which esoteric French polysynth makes the cut.Season 4 is sponsored by EVO by Audient: https://evo.audio/STUFF WE TALK ABOUT (SPOILERS!)https://www.instagram.com/motorbass/?hl=enhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3Al_QCDVk8&ab_channel=HouseMusicDealer%28HMD%29 (DJ Falcon - My Name Is)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3PvUHjoUJA&ab_channel=BlizzardOfTheCoast (DJ Falcon - Honeymoon)https://gearspace.com/board/high-end/989713-ua-2192-2015-a.htmlhttps://www.burlaudio.com/products/b2-bomber-adchttps://motu.com/en-us/products/software/dp/features/https://buchla.com/lem-208/https://buchla.com/music-easel/https://mos-lab.com/https://www.strymon.net/product/magneto/https://reverb.com/item/10079358-tapco-th-15a-15-powered-loudspeakers-pairhttps://musictech.com/news/gear/namm-2022-auratone-unveil-new-5c-active-super-sound-cube/https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairlight_CMIhttps://baloran.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=59https://www.vintagesynth.com/moog/sourc.php

I found a lovely remake of Sybil's The Love I Lost. When I heard the original, loads of happy memories came flooding back from when Danny & me used to obsess over it , So the original made it to the playlist instead of the rework. I love the start of it so it had to go first , it wouldn't have fit anywhere else. The remake of Free reminds me of many Pride events in the past & loved this disco remix. The Whitney remake reminds me of a particular night at 3 am in Soho HA!The Shapeshifters have done it again for me. I love that track. The remake of Music Sounds Better With You is so retro and abslutely brilliant!Sigala!!!!!!! Love love love! As we head into the final stretch of the Ultimate 90's House Classics series from 1998 - 1999 — part 5 delivers those odds and ends party house classics that go outside the progressive house that had become mainstream during this period of musical evolution. Songs like "Music Sounds Better With You" by Stardust, which spawned several mashups including the eponymous "Holiday" mashup by Madonna who has used this version live in concerts, "Get Get Down" by Paul Johnson, "Bodyrock" by Moby, "9PM (Til I Come)" by ATB, which is the basis for this year's massive "Your Love (9PM)" by Topic & A7S, "Red Alert" by Basment Jaxx, "Better Off Alone" by Alice Deejay, which has been used as the basis for multiple mashups as of late, "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" by Eiffel 65 (I'm in need of a guy), "It's Like That" by Run DMC vs. Jason Nevins, which launched Nevin's space into the hard-hitting rock influenced remixes he was later known for, "King Of My Castle" by Wamdue Project and the bouncy Eurodance hit "2 Times" by Ann Lee amongst so many other memorable moments from this period. How Party Favorz managed to make these diverse offerings work in one seemless set is so mysterious that even I don't know how I did it but it works in spades. One spin and you'll be reliving one of the most magical moments in dance music history with just the one set alone. The final set will wrap up predominantly massive progressive house tracks and you can expect to drop on Saturday. Until then...ENJOY! From its roots in hip hop, techno, and house music, Eurodance emerged as a vibrant genre in the 90s, characterized by melodic vocals and up-tempo beats. Uncover the era's iconic tracks, like "The Power" by Snap!, an exemplary fusion of Eurodance elements, and "Coco Jamboo" by Mr. President, a staple of the Eurodance scene. Recall the transformative impact of "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)" by C+C Music Factory and "Ride On Time" by Black Box, both exemplifying the cross-over appeal of Eurodance with house music and techno. The collection also includes stellar Hi-NRG and Techno tunes like "Love To Hate You" by Erasure and "Dirty Cash (Money Talks)" by Adventures of Stevie V. Not to forget, "I Like To Move It" by Reel 2 Real and "What Is Love" by Haddaway, capturing the fast-paced, infectious energy of 90s Eurodance. Revel in the remix of Bonnie Tyler's classic "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Nicki French, a reminder of Eurodance's legacy of breathing new life into pop ballads originally a #1 power ballad by Bonnie Tyler in the 80s. This mix also brings you closer to the early millennium's filtered House Music trend with tracks like "Around The World" by Daft Punk and "Music Sounds Better With You" by Stardust. Harder edge techno tracks like the underground favorite "Fingerfoc" by Friends of Carlotta stands out as a club favorite despite its NSW raunchy lyrics. Whether you're a seasoned club-goer or a newcomer to the scene, Party Favorz's Ultimate Eurodance Collection offers a rich taste of the pulsating beats and melodic vocals that made the 90s Eurodance and the Techno scene unforgettable. I think music sounds the same no matter who you listen to it with, but Logan Henderson disagrees, which is why he sang Music Sounds Better With You for our live audience at the Dynasty Typewriter. He also sang Pull Me Deep, which sounds like what Jaws does when he gets a hold of your leg. Well, whatever it means, it sounded great, even without you there. Get ready for Logan Henderson on THE NIGHT TIME SHOW!
On this episode of Inspired, French producer Alan Braxe shares the story behind making Stardust's ‘Music Sounds Better With You’ with singer Benjamin Diamond and Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter.

What's up everyone?! Oh man do I have a good one for you today! This is my absolute favorite type of podcast. This is one of those that spans decades, drawing connections between some of my earliest music memories to people I saw at Coachella this year. It all centers around this disco vibe that permeated many of my favorite songs in the late 90s early 2000s. So many classics!! So much fun. Really excited for you all to dig in. You're gonna love it. We're diving into Part 2 of the 90's House, Techno & Eurodance Classics, a swirling kaleidoscope of beats that defined an era. This mixtape features an eclectic lineup of artists who not only dominated the dance charts but also left an indelible mark on the music landscape. Let's kick things off with The Blackout Allstars and their infectious groove "I Like It (Like That)" in the D'Ambrosio Club Mix. This track took the salsa rhythm and spun it into an unforgettable house tune that still keeps dancefloors packed to this day. Pat & Mick come in with "Use It Up Wear It Out," an essential part of any '90s rave or party. You can feel the intensity in every beat of the Original Extended Mix, exemplifying the freedom and exuberance of the era. The 49'ers contribute "Touch Me," a seminal Eurodance track that captures the intoxicating blend of electronic beats and sensual vocals. The 49'ers were a project formed in Italy, and this track was one of their signature sounds that helped to solidify the Eurodance genre. With The Shamen's "L.S.I. (Love Sex Intelligence)," is a journey through electronic rhythms and psychedelic visuals. The Shamen were known for their avant-garde approach to dance music, and this track remains a testament to their inventive style. Who could forget the C + C Music Factory's classic, "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)"? The Slammin' Vocal Club Mix featuring iconic Martha Wash belting out "Everybody Dance Now" is a burst of adrenaline that redefined what house music could be. When Stardust's "Music Sounds Better With You" hits, you know it's time to get down. This French house classic, with its infectious loop, became one of the best-selling singles of all time. Ah, Livin' Joy's "Don't Stop Movin'"—this track embodies the pulsating beats and upbeat lyrics that typify Eurodance. It's a sonic reminder of a simpler time when all you needed was a good tune to lift your spirits. Felix's "Don't You Want Me" in the Hooj Mix showcases the raving techno subculture of the '90s, a groundbreaking track that still makes us yearn for those warehouse parties. "Always" by Erasure, presented in the Microbots Trance Dance Mix, is an iconic tune that transcends generations. It combines Vince Clarke's signature songwriting with Andy Bell's poignant vocals, creating an emotional resonance that still captivates listeners today. Finally, we wrap up with Abigail's mesmerizing "Losing My Religion," an audacious techno reimagining of R.E.M's iconic song. It perfectly encapsulates the transformative power of the dance remix, turning an alternative anthem into a dancefloor masterpiece.

Because Of You, We Survived the Cold of Winter Snow by Cian Ó Cíobháin 24/12/16 Galway, Ireland Label: goo.gl/6VXilY Twitter: twitter.com/shockws All Podcasts: https://goo.gl/bkdZyY 1. Edward Williams - The Sex Life Of The Fern Strange tune title? Perhaps … but not when you realise its context. It's from the soundtrack to David Attenborough's 1979 BBC series ‘Life On Earth'. 2. John Martyn - Head and Heart Achingly beautiful loves song from John Martyn's 1971 classic LP ‘Bless the Weather'. 3. Shelleyan Orphan - Beamheart Caroline Crawley, the lead singer of Shelleyan Orphan, sadly passed away some months back. I was familiar with her vocal work on This Mortal Coil's LP ‘Blood', but had never taken the time out to explore any of her back catalogue, outside of her contributions to Ivo-Watts Russell's 4AD super-group. 4. Perfume Genius - Mr Petersen Taken from Mike Hadreas' debut LP from 2010, this is a song about a teacher he had in his formative years, who had a major influence on him, but later committed suicide. 5. Shiny Two Shiny - Moment To Moment Thanks to Mary Maguire for introducing me to this band. Based in Liverpool, they released 1 album and 2 EPs in the mid-80s. 6. The Strange Walls - Grey To Red ‘…. Won't Last' by New York-based The Strange Walls on Alrealon Musique is one of my albums of the year. 7. Worldbackwards - (Leaving Me) Now Minimal wave quartet from London who initially only released their music on cassettes (there are four of them, all C60s). 8. Peter Gordon & David Van Tieghem - Winter (feat Kathy Acker) Peter Gordon is the bandleader of Love Of Live Orchestra, a multi-genre downtown New York collective that has counted Arthur Russell, David Byrne, Arto Lindsay, Phillip Glass and Laurie Anderson amongst its members. He sent me a thank you email VIA his publicist for playing this one so often on my radio show this year. 9. Thomas Leer - Private Plane Amazing debut single from 1978 from Thomas Leer. 10. Lives Of Angels - Imperial Motors Lost classic from husband/wife duo Gerald and Catherine O' Connell, taken from their 1983 album ‘Elevator To Eden'. Shades of Can, Suicide, Depeche Mode, New Order. 11. Rollers/Sparkers - Kodiak They're from Dublin, they are responsible for my album of the year - ‘Interior Ministry' - and by album, I mean a coherent collection of amazing songs that make complete sense in the way that they're sequenced on the LP. 12. Let's Eat Grandma - Eat Shiitake Mushrooms I believe that this precocious teenage girl duo from Norwich are still in school (only aged 16-17 when they wrote this) and yet…. how on earth did they come up with possibly the best pop-song of 2016? 13. Scraps - Dreams Brisbane's self-styled ‘dehydrated disco queen' released a corker of an album - called ‘TTNIK' - on the always essential Not Not Fun label this year. 14. Blood Orange - Desirée This was my highlight from ‘Freetown Sound', an album which features more great female vocalists, many who previously were unknown to me. 15. The Paradise - In Love With You Made by Alan Braxe (who had a hand in Stardust's ‘Music Sounds Better With You' with Thomas Bangalater and ‘Intro/Running' with Fred Falke) with Romuald Louverjon back in 2003, I have Mike Smalle to thank for introducing me to this 6am afterparty classic. 16. Ruby & The Romantics - Baby Come Home Akron, Ohio R&B 60s group who became big in Belgium when this one became a staple on the Popcorn scene. 17. Liz Damon's Orient Express - 1900 Yesterday Debut single from Liz Damon's Hawaiian band came out in 1971 but I have my truelove to thank for introducing me to it recently. 18. Cocteau Twins - Half-Gifts 20 years ago the Cocteau Twins released their final album ‘Milk & Kisses' and when it came out I recall many of us being completely besotted with this song. Liz Fraser's biographer speculated that songs from this period may be about Jeff Buckley, but the lady herself has neither confirmed or denied this.

Deepartures: Hydra From Hydra in Greece, a nice Deep vibe , with enough bounce never to get boring.. Take this flight on Deep House Airlines ,the journey should be without turbulences and the destination is sundrenched and elegant.. I love this set, it is coming straight from the box with no frills nor edits. Playlist: Intro Deep House Airlines (Generic). Mr V. 2013 Oscillations (Part 1) (Original Mix). Foremost Poets 2013 I Give It All To You (Sean McCabe Raw Mix). Seascape feat. Dawn Tallman 2013 Music Sounds Better With You (Carl Hanaghan Remix). Speedboats & Big Explosions Outro Deep House Airlines [Final Decent Speech]. Mr. V Highlights: “Extension” from Springsteen & Danism, one of those Deep gems, with a great base riff, pads and bassline and chilled vocals.. The same could be said from “Lovelight Flight” add outstanding production.. Into “ Give Me Joy” a more soulful number which came out as a great remix package of an old classic house track. Run to Traxsource and spend some $$$ on this one.. “Closer” DJ Spen and my wife’s favourite voice “Marc Evans”.. Need I say more!!! Into some real Deep House jam from Jimpster with “Hold My Hand”. Dope! “Believe” from Prez & Brujita..As one mate of mine said, “such a Xtian track!”. And indeed it is. Listen to the ad lib vocal.. “Music is the Key”.. “It's Only You” the Sandy Rivera's Original Mix). Kings Of Tomorrow, April I will never get enough of them.. If you are cheap enough to listen to the track without buying it on Traxsource, you do not deserve to download my music! “Reasons To Be Dismal”, this track fits so well what I am looking at right now.. the Aegan sea.. Love it Deep and Beach House. “I Give It All To You” Sean McCabe’s Raw Mix from Seascape feat. Dawn Tallman. Another amazing soulful production from Sean.. The man has enormous talent.. And to wrap it up, another massively talented remixer.. Carl Hanaghan giving the remix treatment to a French house classic “Music Sounds Better With You” with a deep not funky angle. Very clever! Next one will be a live set from the Pirate Bar in Hydra.. A yearly fixture of the podcast.. Enjoy Deepartures! Xtian
