Girls Gone Hallmark is a weekly Hallmark movie review podcast. This week, hosts, Megan and Wendy, talk about "Round and Round" - a time loop rom-com starring Vic Michaelis and Bryan Greenberg. Don't let the time loop trope scare you off. This might be Hallmark's best movie of the 2023 Countdown to Christmas season! Tell us what your favorite Countdown to Christmas movie from 2023! Email us at meganandwendy@gmail.com and be sure to check out the 2nd Annual Girls Gone Hallmark Best Christmas Movie bracket beginning on January 6, 2024 exclusively on our Instagram. About "Round and Round" Hallmark Movie This movie was written by Tamar Lady. Tamar has just 7 previous writing credits! She wrote “Crashing Through the Snow” for Hallmark back in 2021, as well as a handful of episodes for “Pretty Little Liars,” “Hart of Dixie,” and “General Hospital: Night Shift.” Stacey N. Harding directed. She has 12 directing credits including… "AMISH STUD: The Eli Weaver Story" starring Luke Macfarlane. For Hallmark she's directed Hearts in the Game, “Love, Classified,” “Christmas Sail,” and one of the “Mystery 101” movies. Additionally, she has worked on “Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist” as First Asst. Director, a reboot of “Charmed” and, wait for it… “UnReal.” “Round and Round” was filmed east of Vancouver, BC, in a town called Maple Ridge from March through May, 2023 (according to Heavy.com) Vic Michaelis plays Rachel. She has 24 acting credits which include a lot of shorts and videos but has also been in episodes of “Bless this Mess,” “Upload,” the reboot of “Charmed” and a sketch comedy series called “CollegeHumor Originals.” Bryan Greenberg plays Zach. He's probably best known for his role as Jake on One Tree Hill but his other 47 acting credits include ABC's “October Road,” “How to Make it in America” on HBO, “The Mindy Project,” “Bride Wars,” “Friends with Benefits” and “Prime” (one of my favorite movies!). Upcoming for Bryan is a thriller he wrote, directed and starred in called “Junction” - which also stars his wife, Jamie Chung and former One Tree Hill Sophia Bush. Rick Hoffman plays Rachel's dad Stan. Hoffman has been in a lot! He has 65 acting credits including “Billions,” 134 episodes of “Suits,” “Ballers,” “Samantha Who?” and so many more. David Attar plays terrible boyfriend Adam. Now David might be the only actor who has previously been in a Hallmark movie. We've seen him in “Guiding Emily” “Field Day” “Unexpected Grace” “A Fabled Holiday” “Autumn in the City” and “Nikki & Nora: Sister Slueths. ” Related Podcast Episode: Girls Gone Hallmark reviews "Unexpected Grace," a movie that drew some controversial takes from the Facebook group! Paula Shaw plays Grandma Rosie. She has 89 other acting credits, many Hallmark movies - so David Attar isn't our only Hallmark vet. We've seen her in “Hanukkah on Rye” “Wedding of a Lifetime” “The Wedding Veil Legacy” and “It Was Always You” amongst others. At the time of recording this episode, Round and Round ranked # 26 in ratings for the Countdown to Christmas premieres, with 1.54M live viewers. Feeling Generous? Writer-Director Ben Kegan always knew he had a strong passion for character, film and storytelling. His growing up in a John Hughes-esque Chicago suburb is apt considering his eventual exploration of the sex-quest genre of teen movies in college. His evolution through the wrestling biopic short, Team Taliban, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival; the complicated love-triangle surveyed in Commencement, which he shot at Whitman College, his alma mater; the Hypocrite; and After Christmas featuring Chicago theatre legend Barbara Robertson, helped exhibit his versatility as a cleverly-synchronized writer-director. His most recent efforts include the renowned short, The First Men, which featured Maria Blasucci (Ghost Ghirrls, Family Tree, Key and Peele) and the enigmatic, menacing force of Bo Mitchell (Cobra Kai, Eastbound & Down, October Road); Fractions of Speed, a documentary short profiling the mid-distance runner and Olympic hopeful Peter Callahan, which he just shot as a feature film; and the military-themed documentary Expiration Term of Service. In our conversation, the Columbia MFA graduate remarks about the films which impacted his unique approach through the lens of Chicago, improvisational comedy and the subjects he portrays in his films.Opening Credits: One Man Book - Scaffold of Repeated Addition; Closing Credits: Ketsa - Another-Day

Episode 43 of The Blank Canvas Podcast with Stacy Rukeyser Stacy Rukeyser is behind current Netflix hit series SEX LIFE, which in its first 10 days was in their “Top 10 List” in 92 countries. A month later and it’s still lighting up social media with likes of the Kim Kardashian tweeting about it just before this chat. The last year has presented plenty of challenges to make TV drama, but the upside for the likes of Netflix has been huge captive audiences locked in at home and binging on escapist entertainment. Stacy is the creator, showrunner and executive producer of SEX/LIFE, which was inspired by BB Easton’s book, 44 Chapters About 4 Men. Prior to this series, Stacy served as the showrunner & EP of the acclaimed series UnREAL, which scored a 2016 Primetime Emmy Award nom for ‘Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series’ and won an AFI Award for ‘TV Program of the Year’. Her previous TV writing credits include the Golden Globe winning WITHOUT A TRACE, CRASH, ONE TREE HILL, OCTOBER ROAD, STANDOFF, GREEK and THE LYING GAME. Stacy’s an old mate of mine from when I lived in LA 20 years ago, I watched her transition from frustrated actor to aspiring writer. I vividly remember reading her first spec scripts and thinking, yup, she’s the real deal. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0749993/ https://www.instagram.com/littleruke/ https://twitter.com/littleruke W: https://theblankcanvaspodcast.com.au/ IG: https://www.instagram.com/leerogers12/ SOCIALS Insta: @theblankcanvaspodcast FB - The Blank Canvas Podcast Twitter: @blankcanvaspod THE BLANK CANVAS TEAM Produced by Lee Rogers & Rien MacDonald. We finally discover a finale we liked just as much as the pilot in October Road ! In this episode, we welcome a very special guest, actress Rebecca Field, who played Janet on the gone-too-soon ABC drama. We have an amazing chat with Rebecca who shares stories from the series, and what she is working on now. We leave the episode on a high, leading the official charge for a “bring back October Road ” campaign.
We discover one of our favorite shows on the podcast so far, October Road. This short-lived ABC vehicle seemed to fall victim to an undesirable timeslot, despite its stellar cast and it being based on Joe’s life story. We talk about recognizing nearly every actor, the familiarity of the coming home again journey, and make predictions for what we hope will be a satisfying series finale.

Today's episode is a special one as I had the opportunity to reconnect with an old teammate and friend from university. My guest, Warren Christie and I played football together at the University of Windsor in Canada many years ago. Warren has a very unique story and is a great example of somebody willing to leap into the unknown to pursue a dream. You will learn all about his story in today's episode. Warren has been a film actor for nearly 2 decades and has earned roles in several TV series over the years including October Road and The Village. He recently starred alongside Candace Cameron Bure in the movie ‘If I Only Had Christmas' which was just released this past week in Canada and on Thanksgiving Day weekend in the US. As well, he has been in several other movies over the years. What I appreciate about this conversation with Warren is his willingness to speak honestly and openly about his journey and what he has come to learn about himself through the process of trying to improve and get better every day at developing his craft as a film actor. With the uncertainty of his profession and the fact that he will no doubt fail over and over again, Warren has displayed not only deep resilience but also tremendous gratitude for being able to do the work he does. In this episode we dive into the weeds of what it means to be in the spotlight and what it takes to step up and perform at your best in high stakes environments. As well, Warren shares how he best prepares for his roles and the tools he must develop within himself to be able to bounce back from failure and to be in the present moment, as much as possible, when filming. It was so good to sit down and reconnect with Warren. Lots of great memories from our days together playing football, but more importantly, a great conversation about life, learning, passion, and resilience. About WarrenWarren Christie was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, but spent most of his childhood in London, Ontario. He left London for Windsor after being recruited to play college football. It was during these years that Christie developed his love for performing and decided to pursue it as a career. This decision led him to Vancouver, where his rugged good looks and keen acting ability quickly landed him desirable leading roles. In 2005, Christie landed a lead role on the series “October Road,” playing a cocky construction company owner. Last year, Christie had the chance to stretch his performing abilities when he was cast as the star of the musical feature film “The Magical Flute Diaries,” based on one of Mozart's operas. Christie recently wrapped filming on ABC's pilot “Prince of Motor City,” a gothic family drama in which he stars along side Aiden Quinn and Piper Perabo.Christie's ability to embody diverse characters is evident in the variety of roles he takes on and masters. He played opposite Heather Graham in the romantic comedy “Gray Matters,” and then switched gears with his next project, the psychological thriller “Beneath,” produced by the group that did “Napoleon Dynamite” in conjunction with MTV Films/Paramount Classics. Christie has also lent his talents to numerous television shows, including “Supernatural,” “The L Word,” “Battlestar Galactica” and the ABC series “The Days.” Christie's future plan is to pursue character-driven roles in Canadian and American film.Connect With WarrenTwitter: https://twitter.com/HWarrenChristieInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thewarrenchristie/?hl=enSpecial thanks to Bronx band Conversing with Oceans & Alex Bondarev for creating the podcast music. https://www.conversingwithoceans.com/

The crocuses are popping up, and this week's show blossoms with new music, new technology, dazzling comics, and so much more!Artists Will Transform Your World with Virtual Reality - 1:20Imagine a gallery where you can step into a painting, fly through the ceiling to the heaven’s above, or learn a dance from a virtual flamingo. It’s not a world far off. Virtual and augmented reality stand to transform the art world, and the tech incubator Oregon Story Board is on the front lines. We scoped out a new artists residency they jump-started to give artists a chance to play with the newest cutting-edge technology. The Last Artful Dodgr Cranks Up the Volume on Portland Hip-Hop - 8:34The Last Artful Dodgr (nee Alana Chenevert) initially planned to be an anthropologist, perhaps unearthing fossils instead of rhymes. Instead she found her voice in singing and rapping about the realities of life as millennial, and left Los Angeles for Portland. Newly signed to startup local label Eyrst (a project of former Trail Blazer Martell Webster), The Last Artful, Dodgr has just released her debut record, "Bone Music," and joined us in the studio with producer Neill Von Tally to perform a trio of spare, artful song. Leila Del Duca and the Ultimate Adventurer - 21:34Portland artist Leila Del Duca has been drawing an Image Comics series called “Shutter” since 2014. It’s the story of a hard-charging young adventurer named Kate Christopher whose travelers take her around the world and into space. Her companions include talking animals, mid-century knick-knacks sprung to life, and a most genteel undead butler. In March, Image will publish a new graphic novel by Del Duca called "AFAR" that's a YA fantasy set in an Afro-futurist society.Former Portlander Steps Up as the First Film Curator at the National Museum of African American History and Culture - 29:21The National Museum of African American History and Culture is like the "Hamilton" of museums: telling a story that goes back centuries, it's a ticket you have to get months in advance, if you can get them at all. Rhea Combs, the museum’s curator of film and photography and a former Portlander, was in town recently to participate in talks on housing issues and equity, and she stopped by Think Out Loud to talk about life at the museum and how Portland has changed. Sandow Birk Brings the Quran into Daily American Life - 38:37Eugene’s Jordan Schnitzer Art Museum is exhibiting a colossal series by LA-based painter Sandow Birk designed to reset mainstream American’s misconceptions about Islam’s holy book. Birk spent nine years transcribing every page of the Quran onto illustrations of daily American life. Called "American Quran,” the show is on view at through March 19. opbmusic Session with Balto - 45:41Portland band Balto took a long road to get where they are. Frontman and songwriter Daniel Sheron wrote most of his first record while living in Siberia, inspired by the people and remote landscapes he encountered there. Fleshed out with mandolin, banjo and piano, those songs were recorded back in New York, and released as October Road in 2011. After relocating to the Pacific Northwest, and now plugged in, Balto released a series of increasingly soulful rock EPs and singles, and since last summer Sheron and the group have teased their upcoming full-length release, Strangers.
