CHRISTOPHER LAWRENCE (Costume Designer) drew inspiration for his design career while putting together looks for he and his dance partner on the beloved “American Bandstand.” He then started working at the trendy boutique Camp Beverly Hills where he began cultivating a clientele of actors, directors and, most importantly, Costume Designers. Christopher caught his first break in the wardrobe department on two iconic television series, “Moonlighting” and “Pee Wee's Playhouse.” He then decided that designing feature films was his true passion, and he quickly developed relationships with some of the world's most celebrated Designers such as Ellen Mirojnick and Albert Wolsky. Before he knew it, Christopher had created his path in features, working on such films as “City Slickers,” “Beaches” and “Bugsy,” the latter of which garnered the Academy Award® for Best Costume Design. Christopher came up through the ranks in the wardrobe department and quickly became one of the industry's top Costume Supervisors. In 1999, Michael Mann recognized Christopher's talent and promoted him to Associate Costume Designer on “The Insider” (Al Pacino, Russell Crowe), and Christopher has been designing films ever since. Some of the credits that followed were “The Anniversary Party” (Gwyneth Paltrow, Kevin Kline), “Showtime” (Robert De Niro, Eddie Murphy) and “S.W.A.T.” (Colin Farrell, Samuel L. Jackson). Christopher has become a favorite of Jason Statham, having designed “The Mechanic,” “Cellular” and “Crank” and is a longtime collaborator with film director Simon West, most notably on the Capital One “What's In Your Wallet?” Viking campaign, which won the Costume Designers Guild Award - Best Commercial Costume Design. Christopher teamed up yet again with Michael Mann on two additional projects, including the feature film “Texas Killing Fields” (starring Sam Worthington, Jessica Chastain and Chloe Grace Moretz). Christopher served as costume designer on the Jennifer Aniston film, “Management,” and from sketch to fabric he designed all of Miley Cyrus' Hannah Montana costumes for “Hannah Montana: The Movie,” from which dolls, Halloween costumes and sportswear were created for the tween market. “The Space Between Us” reunites Christopher with director Peter Chelsom who directed the Hannah Montana movie. Christopher was the costume designer for the first three seasons of the popular Showtime series “Ray Donovan,” for which he was twice nominated for a Costume Designers Guild award. It was his fifth nomination, having won twice for his commercial work. Recently, he was the Costume Designer for Bill Burr's OLD DADS.

Give Me That D listeners! We have SUCH a fun episode for you this week with our horse-girl sister, Claire Woolcott! We're breaking down (literally in tears at one point) the CLASSIC “Hannah Montana: The Movie.” What DOESN'T this movie have? Miley Cyrus, a true STAR gives us COMEDY, gives us DRAMA, gives us VOICE, and she was only 15! Now, does this movie choose violence? Yes. Does Miley/Hannah get into a brawl with Tyra Banks in a shoe store and try to impale her with a pair of heels? Yes. Does Billy Ray engage in what can only be described as plate bafoonery? Yes. Would Jackson actually be dead from an alligator bite to the tush? Yes. Does the evil tabloid journalist from the UK (we stand with you Harry and Meghan) who's trying to out Hannah's secret actually have to do some of the most humiliating things I've ever seen on screen? Yes. But also we have one of the cutest cuties who ever did ride a horse in Travis. We have wigs being put on and taken off willy-nilly and then STUFFED into a makeup case. We have Miss Taylor Allison Swift and Rascal Flatts making appearances. This movie is of course about remembering who you really are and getting back to your Tennessee roots, but it's also about punishing a young girl who's found unmeasured success (even with straight boys, a true feat) for being good at her job — classic. We have fun with a chicken coop, a lottt of slapstick comedy, a revolving door scene that's so stressful some of us can't watch it, we “add a little hip-hop” to a hoedown throwdown, and OF COURSE we have an ICONIC soundtrack. When I tell you we wept talking about Butterfly Fly Away. And of course The Climb deserved an Oscar for Best Original Song in my opinion. We could've talked about this movie for a hundred years. Needless to say, these horse girls had a good time! Full disclosure, we fully stand with SAG, this episode was recorded before the strike. We will update all of you as we navigate how to move forward with the podcast in the coming months. It may look a little different for a while or it will be business as usual, we're not sure! Thank you for being on the journey with us and PLEASE enjoy this long, juicy episode! Have fuuuuunnn!

Happy Belated Thanksgiving! As a result of the holiday this week, we weren't able to get together with friends to create a brand new episode on a new topic, so we are introducing a new type of episode that we have been working on: tangents! We are taking some of the longer and more off-topic tangents from different episodes and compiling them into their own episodes. For this week, we compiled some tangents from our conversation with Amanda on our Hannah Montana: The Movie vs. Lizzie McGuire: The Movie podcast episode. These tangents are about Taylor Swift, Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes, Madelyn Cline and Chase Stokes. We hope you enjoy this fun bonus content, let us know what you think! P.S. Make no mistake, D-Lovers, there's plenty to talk about when it comes to HANNAH MONTANA: THE MOVIE, the theatrical film based on the Disney Channel property so massive, the House of Mouse convened a special conference of sixty old white dudes (probably) to discuss how to best market a teenage girl. The concept is silly, the themes are counter-productive, and the sitcom-y, slapstick humour doesn't quite translate to the big screen. But Vicky, Nolan and Jill really just use this episode as an excuse to talk about Miley Cyrus, and how she embodies the pre and post-Disney Star Child archetype - from squeaky clean performer to grinding with Beetlejuice at the VMAs and back again.

Welcome to another episode of Behind the Scenes with Eric Fell and Shaun Stewart! Today your compadres want to tell you about some of the new movies coming out this month. We take a look at the new Adam Sandler movie "Bedtime Stories", followed by a look at "The Tale of Despereaux" and "Hannah Montana: The Movie" Enjoy!First off we take a closer look at "Bedtime Stories", inculding an interview with Adam Sandler. Skeeter's(Adam Sandler) sister Wendy (Courtney Cox) has to leave town for a job interview and asks him to alternate looking after her two children Patrick (Jonathan Morgan Heit) and Bobbi (Laura Ann Kesling) with Wendy's responsible-minded colleague Jill (Keri Russell). He doesn't get along with either Jill or the children, but his easy-goingness loosens them all up and once he starts telling his bedtime stories, the children grow fond of him and begin to bring in their ideas about how the stories should go. When the stories turn out to become true in real life, Skeeter tries to manoeuver the stories into a direction which will make his dream come true, too.Next lets check up on "The Tale of Despereaux" along with an interview with Mathew Broderick. Tiny and graced with oversized ears, Despereaux was born too big for his little world. Refusing to live his life cowering, he befriends a Princess named Pea and learns to read (rather than eat) books -- reveling in stories of knights, dragons and fair maidens. Banished from Mouseworld for being more man than mouse, Despereaux is rescued by another outcast, Roscuro, who also wants to hear the tales. But when the Princess dismisses Roscuro's friendship, he becomes the ultimate rat and plots revenge with fellow outsider Mig. After Pea is kidnapped, Despereaux discovers he is the only one who can rescue her...and that even the tiniest mouse can find the courage of a knight in shining armor. Finally we check out Miley Cyrus in her new movie, "Hannah Montana: The Movie". Not much else really needs to be said. Hannah goes to farm, Hannah meets cowboy, cowboy likes Miley, Miley is Hannah, cowboy doesnt know, cowboy finds out, Miley dates cowboy, movie ends.... or (As Hannah Montana's popularity begins to take over her life, Miley Stewart, on the urging from her father takes a trip to her hometown of Crowley Corners, Tennessee to get some perspective on what matters in life the most.)
