Dom tells that New Jersey's teachers union, NJEA, has spoken out against the bonuses, pointing out how hypocritical it is to speak out against something like this while biding themselves as pro-teacher rather than pro-union. Then, Dom tells that Sea Isle City is planning to implement a curfew, explaining why he's against a curfew as he believes it doesn't work. Then, Dom updates the marijuana situation in New Jersey, reporting some problems in sales due to high prices, and also provides a running update of the mayoral race in Philadelphia, asking whether the police endorsement helps or hurts Democratic candidates. Blinken's comments came during an exchange with Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., during a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing on Thursday to examine the "State of American Diplomacy in 2023: Growing Conflicts, Budget Challenges, and Great Power Competition." "There are several Americans who are being detained by the Taliban. We are working to secure their freedom. The families have asked that we protect their identities and don't speak publicly to their cases," Blinken responded when asked by Wilson how many Americans remain in the war-torn country. Blinken's comments come as Republicans continue to push for accountability from the Biden administration over its rocky withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021, which resulted in the deaths of 13 U.S. service members who were killed in a suicide bombing while protecting the evacuation at the Kabul airport. Republicans in the House of Representatives have begun an investigation into Biden's handling of the withdrawal. Lawmakers seek to examine what they called a "stunning failure" of leadership in their first hearing on the topic earlier this month. The Taliban quickly took over Afghanistan's capital of Kabul in August 2021 as U.S. troops prepared to withdraw on Biden's orders, timed for the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. In addition to the thirteen U.S. service members who were killed, 170 others also lost their lives during the withdrawal and thousands of U.S. citizens and allies were left behind in the country overrun by the terrorist group. Earlier this week, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul, R-Texas, sent a letter — one of many in recent months — to Blinken demanding that he provide the committee with "documents and information concerning the Biden Administration’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan." Specifically, McCaul is demanding information from Blinken regarding a "Dissent Channel cable reportedly sent on July 13, 2021, by 23 State Department officials and the Department’s response to it," as well as an after-action report and two versions of U.S. Embassy Kabul’s Emergency Action Plan (EAP) prior to the embassy's closure. In the letter, McCaul warned Blinken that his "failure to produce" those documents would "result in the Committee issuing a subpoena to compel their production." https://www.dailywire.com/news/your-platform-should-be-banned-congresswoman-rips-into-tiktok-ceo-for-targeting-kids ‘Your Platform Should Be Banned’: Congresswoman Rips Into TikTok CEO For Targeting Kids Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) tore into TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew during a Thursday morning hearing, accusing him and his company of targeting American children and feeding data to the Chinese Communist Party. Rodgers, who chairs the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, held nothing back in a blistering opening statement, saying that the platform specifically and intentionally targets children outside of communist China while protecting their own children from the platform’s harmful content. Grand Valley State University's Multicultural Affairs Office lists graduation ceremonies or celebrations for Black students, Asian students, "Latinx" students, Native American students, and "LGBTQIA+" students next month. The university will also have a general commencement ceremony for all students. The college describes the graduation celebration for "Latino/a/x students" as "an opportunity to come together and acknowledge Latin accomplishments in the spirit and traditions of culture." Similarly, the Black Graduation Celebration encourages students to celebrate all "that is representative of Black/African American and African tradition, heritage, culture, and legacy." The ceremony appears to go back to at least 2016. An annual "Native American Graduation Feast" has also been held by the school's Native American Advisory Council (NAAC) for the past several years. A celebration just for Asian graduates will also take place. The only celebration hosted by the center not focused on race appears to be the "Lavender Graduation." The rainbow-decorated GVSU webpage will celebrate "the personal and academic achievements of LGBTQIA+ and allied students." Students are also eligible for an "Outstanding LGBTQIA+ Graduate Award," which is given "to an exceptional student graduating in the Fall or Winter semester of 2023…who self-identifies as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community," the GVSU site says. Several other liberal universities have followed similar practices for graduations in recent years. New York's Columbia University host graduation celebrations for affinity groups on campus, including "Lavender (LGBTQIA+), Asian, First-Generation and/or Low-Income, Black, Latinx, and Native communities," its website says. Harvard University also hosts graduation celebrations for Black students, Asian students, Latino students and LGBTQ students. Grand Valley State University told Fox News Digital that there are unified graduation ceremonies for all students: "Grand Valley State University holds unified Commencement ceremonies for all of its graduates. GVSU is not 'segregating graduation ceremonies by race,' as some people and outlets have said. "Grand Valley also welcomes student organizations and faculty leaders to hold smaller scale celebrations designed to honor graduates. These more intimate celebrations are a complement to GVSU’s Commencement and are open to all students and their supporters." "The vast majority of graduating students who participate in these celebrations also choose to participate in our larger Commencement ceremony where degrees are conferred," a representative said. https://townhall.com/tipsheet/leahbarkoukis/2023/03/22/dead-dolphins-nj-n2620984 NJ Lawmakers Demand Pause on Offshore Wind Projects After Latest Mass-Death Incident at Beach Eight dolphins have died in New Jersey after washing ashore a Sea Isle City beach on Tuesday. According to the Marine Mammal Stranding Center, two dolphins died shortly after they were spotted on the beach while the six others were euthanized after a veterinarian determined their conditions were deteriorating so rapidly that returning them to the water would have prolonged their suffering in what would have resulted in an “inevitable death.” The mass stranding on Tuesday follows a dead dolphin washing up at a New Jersey marina last week, the sixth one to be found along the state’s shoreline in under a month. In addition to dolphin deaths, nearly a dozen dead whales have washed up along the New Jersey-New York coast since December. The spate of deaths has prompted lawmakers to call for a suspension of offshore wind projects until it can be determined why the animals are dying. The eight dolphins that died on Tuesday will be sent to a state lab to determine the cause of death. Let’s take a look at the job market: Jobless Claims Fall to 191,000 New claims for unemployment benefits fell last week to 191,000, the Labor Department said Thursday. Economists had forecast a rise in claims to 197,000. The prior week was unrevised at 192,000. The Federal Reserve has been attempting to soften demand for labor in order to sap inflationary pressures from the economy. Despite many headlines about layoffs at companies like Amazon and Facebook, unemployment remains extraordinarily low. The 4-week moving average of initial claims fell by 250 to 196,250. Continuing claims, which are reported with a one week delay, rise by 14,000 to 1,694,000. https://www.theblaze.com/news/chicago-blackhawks-opt-out-pride23 Chicago Blackhawks opt out of 'Pride Night' jerseys, citing safety concerns for Russian players The Chicago Blackhawks are yet another NHL team to decline wearing "pride"-themed jerseys for the 2023 season, citing safety concerns for their Russian players, according to the New York Post. The Blackhawks are the fourth team to decline wearing such jerseys, behind the New York Rangers, New York Islanders, and Minnesota Wild. multiple sports outlets are citing anonymous sources that state the team is doing so to protect Russian players. The Athletic says that the move was made by “team management and security officials” and not the players. Russia has laws against the spread of certain views, which make it illegal to "spread ‘propaganda’ about ‘nontraditional sexual relations’ in all media, including social, advertising and movies," according to the New York Times. The Blackhawks have several players on their roster who could potentially run into problems, including Moscow-born defenseman Nikita Zaitsev. Goalie Anton Khudobin is a Kazakhstani-born Russian, and forward Philipp Kurashev was born in Davos, Switzerland, but holds Russian citizenship and is the son of a former professional hockey player. As well, Canadian-born Boris Katchouk holds Canadian and Russian citizenship, and his mother was an Olympian for the Soviet Union. However, other Russian NHL players have worn similar jerseys in the same season, including San Jose Sharks players Alexander Barabanov and Nikolai Knyzhov and Pittsburgh Penguins star Evgeni Malkin. Just two months prior to the Blackhawks' decision, Ivan Provorov, Russian-born player for the Philadelphia Flyers, cited his Russian Orthodox beliefs as the reason why he didn't want to wear a "pride" warm-up jersey, with San Jose Sharks goalie James Reimer following suit in March 2023 because of his Christian faith.

Throughout Kathy Jordan's career, education via workshops and hands-on experience has kept her approach to glass fresh and informed. Her training is the beneficial byproduct of many workshops, including a decade of Richard Millard's glass painting instruction held at his Antrim School in New Hampshire, intensive China painting study, and master instruction internationally. Antrim inspired Jordan to teach others by providing the same kind of camaraderie combined with intensive glass painting instruction. Jordan states: “If I had gone to an art college or university when I graduated high school, I would not be involved in glass today. My education has been unconventional, but most certainly degree worthy.” At home in Media, Pennsylvania, Jordan is wife, mother, and artist. The success of her studio, The Art of Glass, Inc.,rested upon her multifaceted talents in visual arts, historical research, technology, and entrepreneurship. Jordan's studio completed projects in churches and public spaces from Barbados to Maine, 95 percent of which were restorations. Though restoration painting is her forte, in 2013 she painted and fabricated seven new windows for St. Joseph Church in Sea Isle City, New Jersey. The largest, a panoramic baptism scene, measured 560 square feet. The late Charles Z. Lawrence, who created five windows for the Washington National Cathedral, designed the windows and selected glass for the project. Over the last three decades, Jordan has been involved with many notable restoration projects by Tiffany, LaFarge, Clayton and Bell, Mayer of Munich, Lalique, and other historically significant artists/ studios. Many of these jobs were carried out in collaboration with Femenella & Associates, including seven Tiffany angels for a travelling exhibit called In Company with Angels, Princeton University Chapel, the Washington National Cathedral and the fire-damaged windows of St. Bernard's Episcopal Church in Bernardsville, New Jersey, which established Jordan as a conservation painter. Several of these projects received Historic Preservation awards. In 2014, Jordan closed The Art of Glass, Inc. and began working for Willet Hauser Architectural Glass, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As Director of Art Development, one of her first jobs was to represent the studio at an important function at West Point Military Academy. She is currently involved with ongoing large, new window projects for St. Wenceslaus in Omaha. Nebraska., St. Joseph's Cathedral in Jefferson, Mississippi, and St. Agnes in Key Biscayne, Florida. Willet Hauser received the Philadelphia Preservation Alliance Award this year for the historic restoration of the Isaiah Rose Window by John LaFarge, First Unitarian Church, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In contrast to her work on historic windows, Jordan's autonomous panels, especially those that involve portraiture, reveal her hand and are painterly and spontaneous. For example, The Chief's Wife, which is comprised of three, 5-inch-square paintings of Native American elders that turn within the frame, was painted with Reusche's water based medium. She explains: “It behaves like an oil, but thins with and cleans up with water. It will dry if left out, but you can work into it for an extended period of time before drying occurs. I can work quickly and get a full range of value in one face, in one fire. This technique can be spontaneous and loose or controlled and refined, allowing the viewer to see tool marks, brush strokes, or none at all.” Jordan created her panel On Walden's Pond in a Debora Coombs' class from a sketch done previously in a life drawing session. Coombs' workshop was an exploration of all the different textures possible with water-based medium. Many of Jordan's autonomous panels have been donated to the American Glass Guild (AGG) auctions to raise money for the James Whitney educational scholarship. Involved with the AGG since its inception in 2006, Jordan is going into her third year as president of the organization – an extended term due to the global pandemic. The AGG will hold its annual conference from July 14 – 17, 2022 at the Corning Museum of Glass, Corning, New York. Also serving as Co-Chair of the International Year of Glass' North America Steering Committee, Jordan says 2022 is the perfect year to celebrate glass in all of its forms. Jordan states: “My work and more importantly my contributions to our industry, emerging artists I work with, the clients we work for and the students I teach is why I love this medium and continue to work and volunteer in glass. It is in my DNA and am enthralled by its beauty, mystery and endless possibilities. I was asked not too long ago what or where my body of work was. It was a leading question, and my response was swift. I responded by saying, my body of work was within historic works of stained glass windows that were preserved. My work is called upon by the many students I have taught and by doing so, they now create with confidence and pass along what they have learned. I can't ask for any more.” https://masterclass.narcissusquagliata.com/courses/business-life-of-an-artist Click the link above for the webinar, The Business Life of an Artist, featuring Kathy Jordan, Narcissus Quagliata, and Orfeo Quagliata. Season 2 Episode 70 10/26/21I met Gina in Albany NY, who runs a non profit that brings yoga and mindfulness to first responders and front line workers . That account is @courageouswarriorcoalition Changed the oil on a motorhome and the two cars. We got the rig loaded up for a 11-day trip through New Jersey. We have reserved a campground for two nights at 2 different wineries through Harvest Hosts. And five nights at 2 different Boondockers Welcome locations. Both have electric and the last one has a dump available, yay. On the way South we hopped on the garden State parkway and was very confusing about where motorhomes were allowed and weren't allowed. So we emailed the New Jersey turnpike authority and asked about any restrictions for a 30-foot motorhome towing a jeep and they responded back "no restrictions".So our first stop is old cedar Campground. We are picking up our grandson and taking him there for a haunted Halloween Walk and trick or treating.Pulled in plugged in progressive Industries EMS and our post had 136 volts. So the surge protector did what it was supposed to do. But that meant we didn't have electricity. And so they moved us to a vacant spot even though they were full. We picked up Trish's grandson went back to the rig and had T bones on the grill. Then we did a spooky walk in the campground, what fun ! This was our 1st Halloween in a campground. Then we lit a campfire and relaxed. The next day we played miniature golf, pool and such. We then walked from the campground to the local winery. Then out for dinner and back to the rig we played cards and read in the rain. The next morning we talked to the campground to see if we can leave the rig there for a while while we drove our grandson home. They said sure no problem. I then disconnected and noticed our water pump was not working. I checked the fuse that wasn't it I took out the wall panel to get at the pump. I can hear the pump pumping but not very loudly so I figured it must be a clogged filter on the pump turned off the pump closed the water valve took out the filter and voila that was the problem. So after we get back to the rig we drove a full half hour to Bellview Winery for a Harvest Host stay. Here's a is a link to a discount for Harvest Hosts, Boondockers Welcome, solar equipment and RV mattresses https://relaxrv.org/discounts-to-help-lower-your-stress/ On the way we drove through Vineland and Trish noted Vineland is the largest city in New Jersey. We bought a bottle of wine and a sangria and sat and enjoyed a glass. Then we drove over to Parvin State Park for about four and a half miles. Then back to the ring set by the vineyard and enjoyed a glass of their wine and sandwiches Trish had made, but it was too cold and we went into the rig to eat and put refectix in the windows. It was 42 degrees Sunday night. Next day we hooked up and drove an hour to Natali Vineyards in Cape May Court House, NJ. for another night at a Harvest Hosts location. But on the way, we hopped off the GSP and drove along the NJ shore and visited Sea Isle City. But to get there we had to go over a drawbridge and while we fit there was only about 2 in on each side of the rig. It was a little out of my comfort zone. We got to Natalie Winery checked in bought bottle of wine and a and a dark chocolate covered biscotti. Unhooked the Jeep and drove over to the Cape May park and zoo. https://www.capemaycountynj.gov/1148/Plan-Your-Visit They have free admission and some nice trails it was a nice way to spend a chilly windy afternoon. On the way back to the rig we stopped atJessie Creek winery, then to the rig for dinner. The next day we drove north to the Pine Barrens, to a Boondockers Welcome host location. Apparently the Pine Barrens is known as the "Blueberry Capital of the World".https://www.jerseysbest.com/community/how-the-pine-barrens-became-one-of-the-blueberry-capitals-of-the-world/ and there are a lot of cranberry Bogs here. Apparently most of the cranberries go to Ocean Spray. We were here for 2 nights and the host offered 15amp. To get here we avoided the GSP and took local roads which was nice. We got set up and drove into the pine barrens. We drove in about 3 miles and then hiked for 4 more miles. Went back to rig and cooked dinner on the grill. Our hosts invited us to join them at their fire pit. Where we had a nice conversation exchanging traveling experiences. The next day we drove 15 miles through the Pine Barrens to Batsto Village https://batstovillage.org/ . A very interesting piece of history. We then drove back into the pine barrens and hiked for 3 miles. We then went to Valenzano Winery, where we had a glass of their wine. We stopped at Russo's fruit and vegetables farm. Wow what a huge place. We bought a few different items. Then to the rig for salmon on the grill. The next day we headed north to Princeton, NJ. To another boondockers welcome host location. We chose this location for two reasons one is close to Trish's aunt and cousins. Any other reason is it's close to where my brother Mike and his wife Jen used to live. We pulled in. Met our host. We plugged in but our EMs gave an error code of reversed polarity. And talked to our host he said he's never had an issue and pulled out of voltmeter everything was wired correctly. So perhaps the high voltage reading at the campground earlier the week was false. We completed an online warranty claim for progressive Industries and we'll see what happens. We then headed over to the D&R canal hopped on or tandem bike and road for about 5 miles, stopped and had sandwiches and a glass of wine and rode back to the car. We then drove to The Tigers Tale restaurant and bar. Why? This was the place that Mike and Jen frequented. Trish and I had visited them years ago before they moved to Florida and they brought us there one evening. So we wanted to visit #tigerstaleprinceton @tigerstalenj#tigerstale and toasted Mike and Jen. It was bittersweet. We met a bunch of the staff who knew them and they shared wonderful memories of them with us. ❤ Love you guys ! https://tigerstalenj.com/ The next day we visited Princeton University. We walked around for over 3 hours looking at the architecture and such. Beautiful. We got fantastic crepes at Jammin Crepes, YUM. We then went to a local Winery but saw their prices of wine we hopped back in the car and headed back to the canal path for a short walk. Then back to the rig we cooked shrimp and asparagus wrapped in prosciutto. Yum again. The next day we visited with Trish's aunt and cousins. A great time catching up with everyone. The next day we packed up and headed home. We took local roads which added 15 mins but saved us $12 in tolls. Gotta love the north east. So what do you do to help manage your stress? Jersey Shore Towns Take Hit on Property Values Research indicates that the increase in property values at some Jersey Shore towns is being stunted by rising sea levels. Towns including Brigantine, Atlantic City, Sea Isle City, and North Wildwood are among the top 20 locations impacted, with the burgeoning retirement town of Ocean City being the hardest hit. I'm a resident of the Jersey Shore and skeptical of these findings, but wanted further detail. I’m joined by Columbia University researcher Jeremy Porter to explain his perspective on the data. Our Summer Lovin' series continues as we spend all weekend at the Shore. Andrea is pleasantly surprised by the awesome tasting and looking food at O'Donnell's Pour House in Sea Isle City. Then the duo heads to Ocean City the following night for Ron's favorite pizza and he talks about the life changing dessert he found. (You'll be disappointed once you find out what it is.) They also discuss the worst part about Andrea's three day fast (and no, it wasn't the not eating part) and kick around some Beatles and Pulp Fiction trivia.
Andrea and Ron talk about helm's quirky and casual atmosphere as well as the creative and rustic dishes. Andrea sees the coolest looking mushroom she's ever seen. They also head to Bella Luna in Sea Isle City where Ron undergoes tense negotiations with Andrea regarding dessert. They also struggle with the meaning of the word confit and are stumped trying to figure out what a sheriff does.
