Double-digit million-dollar debuts for Hollywood movies in the pandemic era are still a rare positive — and we’ve certainly seen family movies excel. While not all openings are apples-to-apples, however, Raya’s start is a somewhat muted affair. There are a couple of factors at work here. Of the total opening, just $8.4M came from China, despite solid social/critical scores in a market that is the only one globally to be firing on all cylinders. Of course, Raya is new IP so doesn’t have a built-in fanbase that generates a rush-to-see urgency. So did anyone here pay for premium access to see Raya And The Last Dragon? She is confirmed to have been cast for season 2 of the series Russian Doll, starring Emmy-nominated actress Natasha Lyonne. The comedy-drama series about Nadia (Lyonne), a young woman who is on a journey to be the guest of honor at a party in New York City. Then, gets caught in a mysterious loop as she repeatedly attends the same event and dies at the end of the night each time -- only to awaken the next day unharmed as if nothing had happened. In addition to starring, Lyonne co-created the show with "Saturday Night Live" alum Amy Poehler and serves as a writer and director for the Netflix original series. Season 2 is in production though no release date as of yet. It is speculated that the new season may focus less on Nadia and more on Annie Murphy who my be caught in the same time loop. So, I’m not sure there’s going back. But we certainly don’t want to do anything like cut the legs of a theatrical exhibition run.” Moviegoers, he added, won’t “have much of a tolerance for a title, say, being out of theatrical for months” and “just sort of sitting there, gathering dust” before migrating to streaming or other windows. They broke the news with an 8-minute video titled “Epilogue,” excerpted from their 2006 film Electroma. Asked if Daft Punk were no more, their longtime publicist Kathryn Frazier confirmed the news to Pitchfork but gave no reason for the breakup. The singles “One More Time” and “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” cemented them as global superstars. Their imprint in the popular imagination continued to deepen in subsequent years, with records including the Tron: Legacy soundtrack album. Twenty years into their career, Daft Punk blew up once more selling millions of copies around the world and earning two Grammys for the duo and guests Nile Rodgers and Pharrell Williams. Digital artist apex form even suggests that they team up for a new Marvel Studios TV spinoff titled “M-Files” where they solve various cases in the franchise. Admittedly, not everyone was a fan of Jimmy and Darcy during their separate stints in the MCU. Overall, teaming up the characters was a brilliant move from Marvel Studios as they’re totally fun to watch together. It’s uncertain what the future lies for both characters past WandaVision at this point, but considering that the events of the series are expected to play a big part in MCU’s multiverse, it’s not outside the realm of possibility that they’re going to be involved moving forward. 3. From Insider: Kadie Karen Diekmeyer, known online as That Vegan Teacher, has been banned on TikTok. Her account page, which had 1.7 million followers before it was taken down, now only shows a "couldn't find this account" message that says she was banned for "multiple community guideline violations." The exact reason for the ban is still unknown, but Diekmeyer has been a controversial presence on the viral video app. Diekmeyer was known for consistently trying to convince others, like celebrity chefs Gordon Ramsey and Jamie Oliver, to go vegan. Most recently, she focused on YouTuber TommyInIt, who recently hit four million followers on TikTok. Diekmeyer posted a TikTok duetting Tommy showing off his two golden YouTube play button awards, where she pulled out a cucumber and said "nice vegan girls don't want to play with your buttons, but if you want them to play with your buttons, you'll have to show them your fruits and your vegetables." Tommy is only 16-years-old and some online, including his fans, found that comment distasteful. Hours after the ban on Tuesday morning, Diekmeyer posted a 23-minute monetized video with the comments turned off on her channel about the ban. The crime comedy film is said to be an origin story of sorts that will follow Cruella de Vil during her early years as a fashion designer in London. During that time, Cruella becomes obsessed with dogs' skins and becomes the iconic Disney villain in the process. As of now, the film is still sitting on its May 28 release date as Disney decides its next move. It’s likely that Disney is waiting at least a few more weeks to make a decision about the film’s release, but it seems the studio is set on the May release date, regardless of whether or not that means a release on Disney+.

How Is S.W.O.R.D. (stands for Sentient Weapon Observation Response Division) involved In All This? And finally what’s up with "Geraldine," played by Teyonah Parris. She was cast as Monica Rambeau, a name that should sound mighty familiar to anyone who saw Captain Marvel. Last we saw she was the eleven-year-old girl whose mother was Carole Danvers's best friend. So What Is Going On? 2. Variety: Josh Duhamel is in talks to star opposite Jennifer Lopez in the Lionsgate romantic adventure “Shotgun Wedding,” replacing Armie Hammer in the lead role. Hammer dropped out of the project last Wednesday, with a representative for the production explaining, “Given the imminent start date, Armie has requested to step away from the film and we support him in his decision.” Duhamel would star as Tom, opposite Lopez’s Darcy, in the film about a couple who gathers their families together for a destination wedding. Things start to go south, however, after the pair gets cold feet. But it really takes a turn for the worst when the entire wedding party is taken, hostage. Data suggests it’s becoming harder for media and entertainment companies to retain subscribers as competition increases. The problem is that, because they are so easy to cancel, those services are seeing a lot of people leave after they finish watching the shows that convinced them to sign up in the first place. That phenomenon, known in the industry as “churn,”. According to a survey of 1,100 people in October, 46% of respondents canceled at least one streaming service in the last six months. That’s a dramatic increase from the 20% who said in a similar January survey that they’d canceled service in the previous year. Cate Blanchett was circling the script to play the leading role of Lucille Ball, according to reports, but has now been replaced by Kidman. Fellow Aussie actress Blanchett was in talks to take on the role as early as 2017, when it was first bought by Amazon. 2. Variety: Netflix has made good on its high-profile promise to deliver new movies every week. Collider: There were a lot of questions that arose when Disney bought 20th Century Fox, but one big question Marvel fans had was about the future of the Deadpool franchise. Collider’s own Steve Weintraub recently spoke with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige in anticipation of Marvel’s first Disney+ series WandaVision, and during their conversation, Feige gave a promising update on Deadpool 3 saying the following: “It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now… It will not be [filming] this year.
