In this episode of The Artist Inclusive Podcast, hosts Anna Rosa and Shanga Parker are joined by Genevieve Leavold. Genevieve is an abstract painter from the UK. The daughter of a religion and philosophy teacher, she was exposed to the texts of world religions from a young age and this informs her approach to painting and life. She uses abstraction to ask questions about who we are and our relationship to the natural world. There is a vital element of movement to her painting process: each brushstroke tells a story, as the spontaneous strokes are unplanned but an intuitive response to the layers and colours beneath, creating balance and harmony within the half-formed shapes. Echoes of plant forms, water and landscapes are present in her paintings but slip and slide into something new. Genevieve has exhibited widely in the UK, Europe and USA and has paintings in private and corporate collections worldwide. She is currently based in Frome, UK. In this very insightful conversation, Genevieve explains her journey to her creative process, her international inspirations, and how she discovered her method. https://www.genevieveleavold.comhttps://www.instagram.com/genevieveleavold (@genevieveleavold)https://www.youtube.com/c/GenevieveLeavold (Genevieve Leavold Artist)https://twitter.com/genleavold (@genleavold)Website: Artist Inclusive https://www.hollandcreative.io daniel@hollandcreative.io IG: https://instagram.com/conversioncopydesign https://www.dashofcopy.com anna@dashofcopy.com IG: Dash of Copy (@dashofcopy) • Instagram photos and videos

“It's important because once you have that, when you have peeled some layers and built your own personal brand, you know how to show up at any situation, any time, any platform, whether that is IRL or via social media. There's a certain confidence, a strong confidence, a foundation that you have. So you always have that to lean on. It's confidence, and there's a certain comfort in that. “The people you're speaking directly to are going to shape your storytelling more than anything else. Otherwise, write a novel. You'll put a great story out into the world. You will never be present when someone receives it. And if they hate it, then you won't be there while that happens. But if you write a play and they hate it, you're going to be in the room when they hate it. And that is humbling and very informative.” – Topher PayneTopher Payne is an Atlanta-based playwright and screenwriter, originally from Mississippi. “You know, I don't care what the question is. Whether it's an artist or a politician or an attorney or whoever it is I may be working with. That creates heart-centered living right there.” — Chausey LeebronChausey Leebron walked away from a successful career in acting to develop a practice in spiritual psychology. “I do believe without theater, we would have nothing else that has followed.”— Suehyla El-Attar YoungSuehyla El-Attar Young is an award winning actor, playwright, and voiceover artist based in Atlanta. She's also a teaching artist, a director, and “a horrible daughter.” She lives happily with her husband and two cats in Decatur.Even with a nearly endless list of theater and film credits, Suehyla still feels blessed every time she lands a role or gig. Yet, she's spreading the love around, participating in an arts education program that teaches screenwriting to public school students - some of whom have never even encountered the concept of theater. “If it was mandatory, I think that you would have automatic empathy taught to students. It's the only subject in school that works in full practicum of everything else,” Suehya says. “You have to know how to do math physics and geometry in order to build a set. Your physical education, of being aware of your body and how it moves, that's all being on stage. Reading comprehension and language, it's all right there.
