"And the thing that really makes me sad is that we humanize them when they're little, by putting them in diapers and feeding them bottles and dressing them in clothes. And then we demonize them when they grow up and act like the wild animal that they are, because people think if they neuter them, if they get their teeth removed - not my chimp, my chimp is not going to act like that." - Angela Scott Last week we released an episode with Brittany Peet, PETA's general counsel for captive animal law enforcement, who is featured in the HBO docuseries, Chimp Crazy. If you haven't seen it, please see it. It's made by Eric Goode, the guy who made Tiger King, and it is equally shocking. It also shines a light on the need to pass the Captive Primate Safety Act and there are many high hopes that that act could get passed this year because of Chimp Crazy. Chimp Crazy focuses on chimpanzee owners, private owners that buy cute baby chimps, dress them up and treat them like human children until they are 5 or 6 years old, when the chimps become large, and very strong wild animals. This part usually ends badly. Well, it always ends badly for the chimps but quite often it does for the humans too. This conversation is with Angela Scott, the whistleblower in Chimp Crazy, and for this entire case. A little background: Angela volunteered at a place called Chimp Party for a woman named Connie Casey. Connie and her husband Mike bred and sold chimpanzees and other primates for decades. PETA got involved because of the horrific conditions these chimps were living in. Angela was the whistleblower who worked with PETA. But before the case could fully go through, Connie gave her chimps to a woman named Tonya Haddix. And the chimps were in Tanya's care when they were rescued, all except for one, a chimp named Tonka. Tanya tried to keep Tonka for herself and she hid him from PETA for months in a cage in her basement. All of the chimps, including Tonka, were eventually saved because of Angela's willingness to go back to Connies and film what she saw. Angela's stories of what these chimps went through are astonishing and I am so grateful to her for sharing them with us.

This week we are joined by Connie Strasheim! We begin by exploring the importance of prioritizing the spirit in our journey towards wellness, discovering how a spirit-first approach can transform our understanding of health. We discuss the profound ways in which science and spirituality complement each other, debunking the myth that they are mutually exclusive. We then examine the pivotal role emotions play in our spiritual and physical health, providing insights into how they influence our overall well-being. We delve into the deeper, often hidden root causes of illness. We then explore Connies perspective on mental health. A closer look at schizophrenia from a spiritual perspective challenges conventional views and offers new pathways to understanding. Finally, we examine the concept of victimhood and how shifting our perspective can lead to empowerment and healing.I hope you enjoy the episode!Learn from mehttps://www.instagram.com/beyond.terrain/https://linktr.ee/beyondterrainSupport the visionShare!!!BCH: bitcoincash:qq7eq276ylanluc5e39unrqshkvs9xsemg07yxezf7ETH: beyondterrain.ethBTC: bc1qqwc470ktgj3l4myqxr5hq67rnlqys0qm98u6f0https://www.buymeacoffee.com/beyondterrainSupport and learn from Conniehttps://conniestrasheim.org/

If you have anything to add to this story, email PegasusThePenguin@gmail.com and keep the research going! Check back here for more corrections: 1) There were two types of runways used on Oct 8, 1970. The Connies, with their wheeled landing gear, would land on an airstrip that was glacial ice. So it was a hard, solid surface. Pilots say it's not very different than landing on tarmac except for braking. The Hercs, with their skis, used a landing strip made of compacted snow that accumulated over ice. So Peggy's wheels would have ruined that runway. Also, just for note, the ice airstrip moves annually since it's on a glacier and the Navy recalibrates it annually but that had not yet been done on 10/8/70 | 2) point of safe return, not point of no return! | 3) NZ isn't the closest you can get to Antarctica, Southern Chile is! | 4) the nose landing gear hit the ice, not the nose itself --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thepodcrashed/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thepodcrashed/support
By the way: Ralf fastet im Moment - und zwar 44 Tage! Versprochen! Rip Foster Rides the Gray Planet by Harold L. Goodwin audiobook. "Foster, Lieutenant, R. I. P.," blared the voice horn, and five minutes later Rip Foster was off into space on an assignment more exciting than any he had ever imagined. He could hardly believe his ears. Could a green young Planeteer, just through his training, possibly carry out orders like these? Sunny space, what a trick it would be! From the moment Rip boards the space ship Scorpius there is a thrill a minute. He and his nine daring Planeteers must cope with the merciless hazing of the spacemen commanding the ship, and they must outwit the desperate Connies, who threaten to plunge all of space into war. There are a thousand dangers to be faced in high vacuum—and all of this while carrying out an assignment that will take every reader's breath away.
We don't have an easy job, we hope you Connies know that! In this episode we are tasked with quite the difficult task. We start by explaining the new wave of art known as NFT's. But we are just warning you, by the end you will be even more unsure of what one is. Then we have to pivot from art to food. Not too hard, considering we all love food, just not these odd food concoctions. You'll have to decide for yourself. We go from art, to food, to everyone's favorite subject: The Rapture. Should you be afraid it? We hope to answer that question and more on this episode of Two & A Half Pastors. Be sure to subscribe, drop that five-star rating so we feel validated, and follow us on Instagram: @twoandahalfpastors
Time for another episode Connies! I don't think any of you wanted this, but you're going to get it: A full breakdown of Tom's recent bout of appendicitis. If you missed the photo, it's still up on our Instagram. We are still surprised it hasn't been flagged. After Tom talks about his ruptured appendix, he then rants for the rest of the episode about comic book movies. So, you know, it's like every other episode you know and love. And we are sure many of you have the same questions as we do: Is Chuck E. Cheese pizza real? That and more is answered on this episode. Enjoy and be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram: @twoandahalfpastors

Marni welcomes two ladies from the Dating with Dignity community who attended the Ignite Your Life virtual conference, Connie and Annette. The pair share their dating experiences before attending the conference, what they learned at the conference, and tips for other women who are considering enrolling in the upcoming Ignite Your Life virtual event. Key takeaways from this episode: Why it’s important to be with others going through the same thing The unconscious thoughts and actions holding you back Moving past fear and getting vulnerable How a 3-day event can change your life Community is Everything [2:26] Annette and Connie both listened to the Dating Den Podcast before deciding to take the plunge and enroll in the Ignite Your Life Program. Annette had been on a self-imposed 2-year dating hiatus before joining. She was frustrated with dating because she wasn't meeting quality men. The last few guys she dated before her “break” turned her off of dating. She was okay by herself for a while but the pandemic made it clear to her that she wanted someone in her life. Connie was married for a long time. She was hoping her guy would just magically show up when the elevator doors opened. She was dating and meeting a lot of nice guys, but she would rule guys out before she would rule them in. She felt like she was going around in circles. She would consult with her married girlfriends about what was normal while dating, but they didn't know. She admits she was clueless about dating. It was scary for her to put herself out there and be vulnerable. After being married for so long, she felt exposed out in the world. The pandemic gave single ladies a chance to focus on their priorities and decide what they wanted from life and love. Annette decided to attend the Ignite Your Life event because she was intrigued to be with other women who were going through the same thing she was. When you downplay your singleness or find shame in being alone, events can be an opportunity to connect. Connie wanted to uncover something she wasn't seeing. She trusted it when something inside of her said ‘sign up for this’. Once she was in it, she felt open and excited. She had a great time. She says she felt 3-feet higher every day. She did not realize how she was acting and reacting on dates. Listening to other women made her feel not alone. Being part of the community offered her much more than a book, or a video. Shifting Unconscious Behaviors [22:36] Annette says her biggest shift, after the IYL event, is that she started showing up for herself and applying what she learned. It gave her a chance to think about the things she was struggling with. It gave her the tools to help her to move forward. Connie found it uncomfortable on the first day to reveal what may have been holding her back and to be vulnerable. While it was hard for her, she knew she had to keep going. She uses the analogy of popping a zit. It wasn't fun but it was necessary. Both women were able to unbottle their emotions and trust the process. What you reveal, you can heal. Spk [32:07] Marni asks if Connie and Annette have any tips for other ladies who are thinking about enrolling in the event. Connie says she is thankful that it showed up in her life and she would have done it sooner had she known about it. Annette’s response mirrors Connies. She wouldn't have waited as long if she had heard about it earlier and she definitely would not have taken the break from dating. “There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but he must take it because conscience tells him it is right.” -Martin Luther King Jr. Tune in for a much-anticipated, super lively, and enlightening chat with the man behind THE read of 2020! Louisiana activist, Gary Chambers, Jr., became a household name in the advocacy world this past June when a video of him brilliantly calling out East Baton Rouge School Board Member, Connie Bernard, went viral and shared by the likes of LeBron James, Madonna, and millions of others. That moment at the school board meeting was only one of several instances over the years where Chambers used his voice and media platform to speak truth to power. Gary is also considering jumping in the Congressional race for U.S. Representative Cedric Richmond’s soon-to-be vacated seat—provided he can raise the necessary money through crowdfunding. As we know, Congress is full of Connies -- both men and women. And plenty of them are Democrats. Few people are more willing to go to DC to not only calling out and effectively address injustices, but fight for everyday people -- those most often overlooked and left out..."We built this joint for free and we're done begging you to do what's right!" Let's get it!! KEEP PUSHING!
And the seat in his district just opened up! Let's be real. Congress is full of Connies. Haha! Men and Women. And plenty of them are Democrats. And I don't know anybody that is going to be more willing to go there and speak truth to power, not only calling out injustice, but fighting for everyday people whose needs are so often missing there. I know this man. I trust him. He will never sell us out. Everybody - follow @GaryChambersJr across social media and let him know you want him to run! ---- If you listen to The Breakdown and want to help support the work we do, consider becoming a member of our Patreon at http://www.patreon.com/thebreakdown for exclusive members perks and early access to content.

Electrify your day by listening to the story of Connie Stacey who calls herself a Mad Scientist and for a good reason. Connie is an inventor with a brain, burning to solve some of the world's most pressing problems. In this episode, we look at her Grengine, a solar-powered generator that addresses energy poverty. One-seventh of the world lives without power, and cooks and heats with biomass fuels, which are horrible for their health and the planet. This episode is a powerful and telling tale of the challenges entrepreneurs face when marketing and selling their Canadian technology across the world, combined with Connie's charm and self-deprecating humour. To help Connie with her global quest, we have Mairead Lavery, Export Development Canada's passionate CEO. Also, Dan Sorotschynski, one of Canada's leading global marketers, shares his experiences on how to go global. Sid Paquette, who leads the Technology and Innovation practice for RBC offer his thoughts on how to think and be big. Presented by, RBC. Get ready to listen, laugh and learn with insights for all. A walk in the neighbourhood sparks an idea (00:46) Connie takes her twin boys for a stroll around the neighbourhood. Spotting an old and noising diesel generator she beings to wonder if there is a better solution. After chatting to friends about using batteries instead, there is still a problem - how does one recharge it? Connie’s has an idea. What if you could swap batteries like Lego blocks…her journey to create Grengine begins From dreams to reality (04:13) Connie sees the challenge of power supply on a global scale, she wants to solve every poverty globally. Connie has dreamt big, but can she make her dreams a reality? With the support of her wife, she goes all in to create a battery system that doesn’t need electricians or technicians. Underpinned by a triple bottom line, people plant, profit, she perseveres and builds Grengine. After winning a US Defense competition, her dreams become reality. Growing up (10:21) With support from Export Development Canada (EDC) and Alberta Innovates, Connie's business grows up and out but with growth, comes complexity. Connie wants to own 100% of her business but needs advice on how she can finance her growth without giving her business away. Going global and positioning her brand amongst many competitors is key for her continued success. Luckily, help is on the way. Advice to match Connies ambitions (13:48) Sid Paquette, Head, Venture Capital and Innovation, RBC - in order to grow and go global, Connie may have to reconsider her stance on 100% ownership. Her ambitions require specialized talent, and the level of talent acquired by offering equity. Dan Sorotschynski, Brand Marketing Executive, suggested Connie establish a clearer value proposition and continue to sustain the people component that is behind her brand. Mairead Lavery, President & CEO, Export Development Canada, reminds Connie not to forget her ambition and to surround her self with advisors to assist her as she grows. Here’s to Connie (28:19) I would love Connie to follow in the footstep of other great Canadian companies, like Blackberry and Nortel and Bombardier and conquer the world. It is not an easy path you have chosen, but it yours. You have turned your dreams into reality and with your passion and the mind of a mad scientist, I eagerly look forward to following your journey as a passionate Canadian entrepreneur. Les, Kurt, and Jason get the low-down on Les' Duran Duran-belting (now former) neighbor and a gushing Blac Chyna, before Jason realizes that Kurt is being tricked into advertising for products including body butter and Patti LaBelle's Sweet Potato Pie. As Kurt FINALLY starts to warm to the idea of watching Hallmark movies, he embraced it even more as he completed a Hallmark Puzzle (giving an angel his wings). On this episode, Hallmark favorite Lacey Chabert is back in Christmas in Rome, a movie which was shot on location in Italy. Lacey plays a character that gets ROPED (that's definitely the word Jason wrote in his notes) into helping a fellow American make his way though the city armed with Vespas, business plans as foreplay, and all of the Connies. Through all the trials and tribulations of life, a true demonstration of character and spirit is the ability to stand back up again. Dr. Connie looks at the impact of loss, tragedy and pain and how to recover, survive and thrive in the aftermath. Dr. Connies two guests in studio are Dr. Hilda Villaverde and Mary Beth Stern, authors of many books in the Living Brave series which focus on stories told by women who undergo difficulties and the lessons they have learned during the recovery.

Virginia Muller may have sneered at her older brothers' antics while practicing witchcraft in her mother's bedroom, but that doesn't make her a creep! Look, it's her prerogative, and she gonna do what she gonna do, okay? I mean for crying out loud, she chose to sit with us in a broiling studio apartment for the purposes of this week's episode, so her instincts can't be totally wonky, right? For #55 we're discussing "Lust in the Dust", in which the girls set Danny up with a "messy" dance teacher. In other news, that adorable tater tot beloved by millions is hiding your shit and she's loving every Goddamn second of your anxiety. What else do we got for ya?
